Rate of the Month
RotM is a project that looks to bring quality individual rates into the spotlight and recognise the hard work of unbadged raters.

Concept
  • Every month, official Team Raters will monitor the rates posted in their respective tiers.
  • A few will be chosen that the RMT staff feel exemplify the qualities of an excellent rate.
  • These rates will be posted in this thread, along with a paragraph explaining why the particular rate won. This will allow aspiring raters to gain an idea of what constitutes high-quality rates, and hopefully incorporate those aspects into their own rates.
  • Official Team Raters are eligible to win, but unbadged raters will have priority.
Prizes
  • Winners will earn a place in the Hall of Fame, which will be kept in the OP of every thread, and will earn more consideration for the Ladybug
    and Team Rater
    badges.
  • After gaining three places in the Hall of Fame, a rater will be eligible to earn voice status in the RMT room on PS! on the condition that they've shown an interest in getting involved.
We hope that this project will encourage people to put more effort into their rates and become better and more experienced raters, consequently increasing the quality of rates posted in the forum. Good luck to you all!

Congrats to vivalospride (yes again) and Lyd for winning Rate of the Month of October!

vivalospride starts off his rate by pointing out the actual issues of the team such as the lack of a Fairy-Type, the fact that it can't break Stall, and the presence of 3 Water-Types that don't provide anything important to the team. He also notices weaknesses versus Electric-Types such as Raikou and Zeraora. The first thing he does is compressing roles of Raikou and Tentacruel by adding Defog Rotom-Heat over these Pokemon. Rotom-H gives a great scizor answer, a Flying-Type resist and Thunder Wave support which is amazing in order to support the slow breaker the team is built around in Crawdaunt. In the free slot left, vivalospride decides to add Amonguss, a consistent check to Fighting-Types, which also has an amazing defensive synergy with teammates like Crawdaunt.

Next change he suggests is replacing Mega Pidgeot with Togekiss, an excellent stallbreaker that also acts as a better Hydreigon switch-in. About smaller changes, vivalospride gives Crawdaunt Waterium Z, a nuke that lets it break through Hydreigon or Quagsire easier. He makes Scizor bulkier consdering it's the main Latias answer of the team. Last but not least, he changes Protect for Toxic on Swampert since this helps chipping opposite threats.

lyd starts off his rate by directly going over his suggestions and the explanations behind them. Since the team has enough offensive presence, he frees Zygarde's slot for Celesteela which helps dealing with both Mega Alakazam and Mega Latios, but also the likes of Kartana. After this, he suggests Gastrodon over Tangrowth to fix the Heatran and Protean Greninja matchup. Then, lyd decides to replace Tyranitar with Ash Greninja. Not only does this pokemon have a perfect offensive synergy with Mega Mawile but it also provides a great way to beat Offensive teams including Rain, not to mention Ash Grenina is able to set Spikes to support Mega Mawile.

Now that Celesteela takes care of dangerous Psychic-Types such as Tapu Lele, lyd makes Heatran offensive with Steelium Z to break through would-be-checks like Gliscor and Mega Latios. The addition of Celesteela also allows Landorus-Therian to run Defog over Rock Slide, which lets the team deal with hazard spam. Finally, he makes Mega Mawile Intimidate, the standard ability on it that eases its setup against physical sweepers as well as pairing well with Landorus-Therian's same ability.

Keep posting great rates for this month guys :blobwizard:
