Porygon-Z: Dynamite with a laser beam

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome. Today's topic will be our favorite Virtual Pokémon: Porygon-Z. That little guy is known for its theorical status of "Hyper Beamer" thanks to its high Special Attack and Adaptability, enabling it to use a deadly 300 BP move on cartridge. However, Hyper Beam is a very unreliable move in combat, as you need to be sure to make sure you hit the right target without turning into a set-up opportunity for your opponent.

But oh wait, we are in BBP. Which means recharge moves do not occur a wasted turn. Instead, a Pokémon that perform such a move will be Sluggish for the next action: it won't be able to use damaging moves that cost more than 5 Energy, or non-damaging moves of 9 Energy or more. And so, Porygon-Z is still able to attack after using its powerful pseudo-signature move. You can even push it further beyond by giving it a Dubious Disc, which removes Porygon-Z's Sluggish state after using Hyper Beam and allow every Special moves to be used in a combination with Hyper Beam regardless of the feasibility of the combo.

The glitchy Pokémon is a powerful sweeper in Showdown!. And it is no wonder why: access to Z-Conversion, Adaptability, a high Special Attack, a good Speed (boosted thanks to Z-Conversion) and wide movepool, in short everything to blow holes in the opponent's team. In BBP, Porygon-Z is also best used as an offensive and aggressive Pokémon: your SpA is still really high, you can use all of the Abilities Porygon-Z can get (so Analytic, Adaptability and Download will enhance your fire power), and its whole movepool is available to him. . That being said, you will note use Porygon-Z the same way you do in Showdown!, where you wait for the right moment to Z-Convert and destroy as much Pokémon as possible. Here's why: stage boosts aren't threatening in BBP. Instead of multiplying your stats by 1.5, you only increase or decrease the damage by 2 for each stage boost. Normalium-Z is still an interesting choice though, because it increases the BAP of Normal moves, Z-Conversion 2 heals you for 20 HP and makes you resistant to the last attack type that was used on you, and you get access to a single use nuke in Breakneck Blitz when linked to Hyper Beam. However, other items may suit Porygon-Z better, depending on the Pokémon it will have to face.

Porygon-Z is frail in cartridge, and also quite slow for a sweeper. It doesn't change in BBP. The Normal-Type doesn't give P-Z much resistances and, even worse, it does give a weakness to Fighting moves that are widely distributed, such as Focus Blast or Brick Break. Moreover, the Virtual Pokémon struggles a litle bit to win its duels against Pokémon that resist Normal.

Grammar advice:

"That little guy is known for its theorical status of "Hyper Beamer" thanks to its high Special Attack and Adaptability..."
theorical -> theoretical

"Which means recharge moves do not occur a wasted turn."
occur -> incur

"Instead, a Pokémon that perform such a move will be Sluggish for the next action..."
perform -> performs

"You can even push it further beyond by giving it a Dubious Disc, which removes Porygon-Z's Sluggish state after using Hyper Beam and allow every Special moves to be used in a combination..."
allow -> allows
moves -> move

"...and its whole movepool is available to him. . That being said, you will note use Porygon-Z the same way you do in Showdown!, where you wait for the right moment to Z-Convert and destroy as much Pokémon as possible."
[remove second period after "him"]
note -> not

"...and you get access to a single use nuke in Breakneck Blitz when linked to Hyper Beam."
single use -> single-use

"Moreover, the Virtual Pokémon struggles a litle bit to win its duels against Pokémon that resist Normal."
litle -> little
