Challenge (Finished) Pokemon Polished Crystal NuzBLocke

Chapter 24. The price of beating the evil.

Since the Rockets use Poison Mons a lot, the next flying Mon I decide to train is Vidente (Xatu).

After the training is done, I go to Goldenrod Underground. There, I face Shiyo:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

Shiyo leads with Golbat, who lives a Psychic from Vidente and uses Bite.
Vidente uses Roost, which is a mistake, Golbat does even more damage with Leech Life.
Vidente finishes Golbat with another Psychic:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

Magneton is next. I send Sunny to take a Thunderbolt.
Sunny kills Magneton with Flamethrower:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Shiyo sends Haunter. I switch Boomer, but Haunter uses Confuse Ray.

I then send Eeveeto, who takes a Shadow Ball, but has his Sdef dropped.
Haunter uses Shadow Ball again and takes another one.

I switch Boomer in again, getting a Pain Split.
Boomer puts Light Screen, Haunter drops his Sdef with Shadow Ball.

I send Annihilape, who too gets the Sdef drop. Fuck this Haunter.
Despite having 5 less levels, Haunter attacks faster with Shadow Ball, getting another Sdef drop. Annihilape uses Ice Punch.

I send Boomer, surviving Shadow Ball with 9 HP.
Boomer kills Haunter with Thunderbolt:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Typhlosion comes. I send Cornuda while it uses Dig.
Cornuda takes the Dig and surprisingly OHKOs Typhlosion with Surf:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

Last is Sneasel. It uses Hone Claws and gets Encored.

Annihilape comes in for free and OHKOs Sneasel with Brick Break:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Not an easy battle, but one without casualties:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

I then beat all the Rockets in the Underground, rescue the Director (who gives me a Card Key) and pick the X Scissors TM.

Its time to assault the Radio Tower and clean the remaining Rockets. First is a grunt with a Raticate that despite having 9 levels less than Eeveeto, takes 75% of his health with 2 Super Fangs. At least Weezing is easily defeated by Vidente.
Second grunt has 4 Poison Mons, easily beaten by Vidente.

Next is Proton:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Proton leads with Golbat, bad match-up for Eeveeto. I send Boomer, but he gets confused by Confuse Ray.

Vidente comes in but loses half of the health from Super Fang.
Vidente OHKOs Golbat with Psychic:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Proton sends Qwilfish, who gets OHKOd too.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Now, Octillery is harder to beat. Vidente uses Roost and takes Ice Beam.

Cornuda takes the next Ice Beam, losing 4 HP.
Cornuda uses Encore.

Proton withdraws Octillery and sends a Weezing to take Surf.
Cornuda uses Ice Beam and takes a Fire Blast.
Proton heals Weezing, who takes another Ice Beam.
Cornuda uses Encore, but it fails. Fortunately, Weezing uses Fire Blast again.
Cornuda uses Encore. Weezing misses Fire Blast.
Cornuda uses Surf and takes Fire Blast.

Proton withdraws Weezing and sends Octillery again. Cornuda uses Rest and wakes up with Chesto Berry.
Cornuda uses Surf and takes a Power Whip.

I send Boomer to finish the battle. He takes the next Power Whip.
Boomer kills Octillery with Thunderbolt:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

And then finishes Weezing too:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

Easy battle, only Weezing was a real threat due to Explosion, but didn,t use it:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Next opponent is Ariana, with just 3 Mons:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

Ariana leads with Arbok, another bad match-up for Eeveeto. So, Vidente comes in to take the Acid.
Arbok survives a Psychic and uses Screech.

Since I fear Sucker Punch, I send Annihilape. Arbok uses Crunch however.
Annihilape uses U-Turn, killing the snake:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

I send Boomer to face Gloom. He uses Light Screen and avoids Leech Seed.
Boomer puts Reflect too and is slept by Sleep Powder.

Sunny comes in, taking a Giga Drain.
Sunny kills Gloom with Flamethrower:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

Last is Honchkrow. Cornuda takes the Wing Attack.
Cornuda uses Encore.
Honchkrow survives Ice Beam, but Reflect prevents it from doing big damage.
The second Ice Beam finishes the battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

Another easy battle, though that was expected with Ariana having 3 Mons, one of them unevolved:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-18.png

Archer is the last opponent and he will be a threat:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-19.png

His lead is an unevolved Houndour. It misses Fire Spin vs Eeveeto and takes Moonblast.

I really fear Destiny Bond from this Mon, so I switch Annihilape in. She loses half of his health due to Super Fang.
Annihilape kills Houndour with Brick Break:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-20.png

Archer sends Alolan Raticate. Who is faster than Annihilape and uses Double Edge:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-21.png

RIP Annihilape. This Mon was as frail as expected, but not as strong and fast as expected.

Boomer comes in and puts a Reflect, taking next Double Edge.
Boomer uses Thunderbolt, but doesn,t deal much damage. He takes another Double Edge.

Sunny takes the next Double Edge.
Totally ignoring Reflect, Raticate uses Super Fang and survives Giga Drain too.
Raticate suicides with Double Edge:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-22.png

Archer sends Weezing, a Mon I learned to respect. Vidente comes in, taking a Sludge Bomb and getting poisoned.
Unfortunately, Vidente can,t kill Weezing in one hit:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-23.png

RIP Vidente.
I am losing way too many Mons lately.

Boomer kills Weezing:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-24.png

Reflect ends, but I don,t need it vs Gengar. Boomer puts a Light Screen, but Gengar crits Shadow Ball:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-25.png

RIP Boomer.
Unlike the 2 previous deaths, he was actually a good Mon with the screens.

I send Cornuda. Gengar drops her Special Defense with Shadow Ball, but gets Encored.

Due to Light Screen and Assault Vest, Eeveeto takes laughable damage from the next Shadow Ball.

Archer is smart and withdraws Gengar, sending Houndoom to take Shadow Ball.
Houndoom uses the damn Super Fang, taking Moonblast.
Archer heals Houndoom, who gets the Special Attack dropped from the next Moonblast.
Houndoom uses Super Fang again. Eeveeto heals a littler with Draining Kiss.
Houndoom flinches Eeveeto with Super Fang. Fuck Kings Rock. Light Screen ends and Eeveeto is in red.

I send Cornuda to take the next Super Fang.
Houndoom uses Smokescreen. Cornuda heals with Rest and wakes up with Chesto Berry.
Cornuda takes Super Fang and kills Houndoom with Surf:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-26.png

I still have to deal with a full health Gengar. It uses Shadow Ball:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-27.png

RIP Cornuda. I didn,t expect that Shadow Ball to kill.

Eeveeto is the last hope. I heal him, taking a Shadow Ball.
Of course, Archer decided to hax and uses Confuse Ray. Eeveeto damages himself.

I sack Sunny. Gengar reveals another move here, Hypnosis.
Gengar finishes Sunny:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-28.png

With no other options, I send Eeveeto. Gengar uses Confuse Ray and Eeveeto damages himself again.
Gengar misses Hypnosis, but Eeveeto continues hitting himself.
Gengar misses Hypnosis again, surviving Shadow Ball.
Gengar uses Shadow Ball and I finish this tragic battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-29.png

I defeated Team Rocket... but at what price:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-30.png

Archer used Confuse Ray, Smokescreen and King's Rock among with legit tactics (3 Mons with Super Fang that ignore my screens) to completely destroy my team and being one Hypnosis away from straight up ending the run. There are not too many Mons in my PC right now and there are not too many legal Mons left either. This looks really dire.

Finishing the chapter here.

Chapter 25. The dragon slayer.

After the masacre made by Archer, I need to remake my team. First, the surfing Mon: Linterna (Chinchou). Second, the Flying Mon: at this point I just have 2 options for the slot, and choose Juan Palomo (Pidgey). Next slot is to cover the Poison and Electric (Linterna has Water Absorb as ability for now) weaknesses, Reina (female Nidoran) is the choosen one for that. Now, since Claire is the next opponent, I will use a Dragon type against her (though I have to be very careful at it), Anisoptero (Yanma) enters the team. Unfortunately, last slot has to repeat type, since the Mons that don,t, don,t have their evolutionary item available yet. So, last slot goes to Misha (Ursaring), who conveniently knows Play Rough.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

After the training, I go to the Bell Tower, where the 3 monks challenge me in a row.
First monk leads with Noctowl. JuanPalomo defeats it, but not before he puts Reflect. Linterna then defeats Flareon and Misha kills Weepinbell.
Second monk has his Noctowl beaten by JuanPalomo too. Reina walls Jolteon and Linterna kills Wartortle.
Vs the last monk, JuanPalomo beats another Noctowl and then Linterna sweeps Vaporeon and Ninetales.

Linterna then also kills Suicune with 2 Thunderbolts:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Unfortunately, not being able to catch Suicune means that I can,t climb the Tin Tower. Hopefully there are no TMs there. In terms of Mons, only Rattata, Gastly and Murkrow lines appear, so I don,t lose any catch.

Next challenge is Claire. She has 5 Mons, so I have to leave one out. Juan Palomo is the only Mon in my team that doesn,t have super effective Moves vs dragons, so he will survive this battle by being in the PC.
After defeating the Gym trainers, battle vs Claire begins:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Clair leads with Gyarados. My lead Anisoptero happens to have Hidden Power Electric, but Gyarados survives and damages him a lot with Dragon Pulse.
Next Hidden Power kills Gyarados:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Claire sends her own Yanmega. Anispotero escapes with U-Turn and Eeveeto enters the field without taking damage, since Yanmega used Dragon Pulse.
Yanmega uses Ancient Power and dies from Moonblast:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Next is Ampharos. Surprisingly its faster than Eeveeto, but misses Thunder Wave, getting damaged by Moonblast.

I send Reina into Thunderbolt.
Reina finishes Ampharos with Earth Power:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

Claire sends Dragonair. Both Pokemon use Ice Beam.
Reina is faster, so she wins the match-up:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

Only Kingdra remains. I would have liked Linterna to have Volt Absorb, but Water Absorb is ideal for this specific battle. Linterna easily enters in Surf.
Kingdra uses Smokescreen but can,t avoid Thunder Wave.
Linterna uses Thunderbolt and takes an Hyper Beam.

Eeveeto comes in to finish the battle.
Kingdra survives Moonblast and uses Smokescreen.
Claire heals Kingdra, but Eeveeto damages it again with Moonblast.
Eeveeto kills Kingdra next turn:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Really easy win due to having a Fairy:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

Even Claire thinks I cheated by bringing a Fairy, so she wants me to go to Dragon's Den and do a test there. I finish the chapter before it.

Chapter 26. Climbing some waterfalls.

I leave Clair's Gym and pick Juan Palomo. I fly to Goldenrod Radio Tower and get the final point from Buena's Password to buy an Ability Capsule. However, I don,t spend it yet, almost all my teams would benefit from it and no major battles are near at the moment.

I then go to Dragon's Den, do the test and get the Badge, the Dragon Pulse TM (which Anisoptero learns) and a Dratini. I can,t use Dratini, but after winning the League I may Wonder Trade it away.

Since I am now able to use Waterfall, I teach it to Linterna and go to Route 47 and climb a Waterfall there. I finally discover the Grass of the route, but since I already caught a Mon in the Water, I can,t catch anything here. There is a trainer that I defeat however, a Cowgirl with Tauros and Miltank.

There is another waterfall in Yellow Forest, which brings me to the owner of the forest:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

She of course wants to battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

Yellow leads with an overleveled level 41 Rattata named Ratty, who uses Sword Dance before getting OHKOd by a crit Strength from Misha:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Misha gets poisoned due to the Toxic Orb she has. This means that even if the Butterfree that Yellow sends survived the crit Slash, it wouldn,t be able to use Sleep Powder:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Yellow sends a Dodou that falls to one Ice Punch:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

The Graveler Yellow sends next might have Sturdy, so Misha has no business staying. However, every Mon in my team is weak to Edgequake, except Eeveeto, who is quite frail, so he fears Explosion. I decide to send JuanPalomo, while Graveler boosts with Defense Curl.

JuanPalomo escapes with U-Turn and Reina comes in, eating 5 Rock Blasts, one of them crit.
Reina uses Earth Power... and Graveler easily survives:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Reina lives an Earthquake with just 8 HP.
Reina finishes Graveler:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Omanyte is next, at level 40 it should have been evolved. I send Linterna, who is immune to Surf.
Linterna OHKOs Omanyte with Thunderbolt:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Last Mon is obviously a Pikachu, who crits Thunderbolt:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Surf doesn,t kill the Pikachu.

I send Anisoptero. Due to the Dragon typing, it resists Thunderbolt, which still does a lot. Speed Boost is not correctly implemented in this game, which is good, since Anisoptero gets the speed raised at the end of the turn.
Yellow tries to heal her Pikachu, but 2 Dragon Pulses are enough to take it down:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

I get Light Ball as a prize for winning, which I probably won,t use, since Raichu is clearly stronger (and cuter too) than Pikachu. The battle itself was closer than I expected after the first 3 Mons:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

Last Waterfall in Johto is the Mount Mortar one. I explore the labyrinth and get a lot of items, the Aerial Ace TM among them.

In the end, I find the Karate King:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

Kiyo leads with Hitmonlee, bad match-up for Misha (like the rest of the team, lol). I send Reinda to take High Jump Kick and damage Hitmonlee with Rocky Helmet.

Kiyo withdraws Hitmonlee and sends Hitmonchan, who takes Sludge Bomb.
Reina heals with Healing Light and takes Ice Punch, dealing damage with Rocky Helmet.
The same happens next turn.
Reina kills Hitmonchan with Sludge Bomb:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

Hitmontop comes in. It takes Sludge Bomb and uses Bulk Up.
Reina poisons Hitmontop with Sludge Bomb. Hitmontop uses Rapid Spin, survives the Rocky Helmet damage but not the poison one:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

Hitmonlee remains. Its faster than Reina and leaves her in red with High Jump Kick, but Reina heals.
Reina takes another hit and heals again.
After taking one last kick, Reina finishes the battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

I get this Tyrogue as prize for winning:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

None of the Hitmons get improved in this game, meaning that the best for Nuzlocke is still Hitmontop due to Intimidate, which unfortunately Escombro won,t have without an Ability Capsule.

Before going to Kanto, I get the Masterball from Profesor Elm in his lab. And immediately spend it:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-18.png

This is one of the 4 legendaries I can use in this game (the others being both forms Articuno and Galarian Moltres). Its not very good due to learning Sacred Fire at level 92 and Extreme Speed at 57, but at least it does get a new TM Move named Earthquake (which I don,t have yet, but its at the Victory Road).

Finishing the chapter here.

Chapter 27. Lack of choices.

With everything done in Johto, I start my journey towards the Pokemon League... except I don,t. As soon as I try to surf from Newbark Town, Lyra appears:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

...badges in Johto.

Lyra tells me that she can,t become the Champion, but can challenge me for one last battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

Lyra leads with Pidgeot and so do I. JuanPalomo uses Return while the opposing bird boosts with Agility.
Lyra's Pidgeot uses Roost, JuanPalomo continues attacking with Return.
Lyra's Pidgeot heals again and gets damaged again.
Lyra's Pidgeot uses Swift and dies from Return:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Lyra sends Ampharos. Free switch-in for Reina. Here I realize that I didn,t heal my team after the last battle, so Reina is damaged.
Reina uses Healing Light but its the last one she had. Ampharos attacks with Power Gem.
Reina damages Ampharos with Earth Power. Ampharos puts a Safeguard.
Reina kills Ampharos:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Next is Girafarig. I don,t have Psychic resist, but Eeveeto has Assault Vest. Lyra predicts that however and orders Girafarig to use Baton Pass into Sunflora.
Sunflora uses Sunny Day and takes Shadow Ball.
Sunflora uses Solar Beam and takes another Shadow Ball.
Time to stall 2 turns. Eeveeto takes another Solar Beam and then uses Dig.

On the last Sun turn, I send Anisoptero to take Solar Beam.
Anisoptero kills Sunflora with Dragon Pulse:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

Lyra sends her Feraligatr. He is Water Dark in this game, so U-Turn is effective. I send Linterna while Gatr boosts with Agility.
Feraligatr uses STAB Crunch and loweres the defense of Linterna, but dies from Thunderbolt:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Girafarig comes back, but now I am in a worse situation than the first time. I send Eeveeto, who avoids Zen Headbutt. So, its physical.

I switch JuanPalomo into the next Zen Headbutt.
JuanPalomo heals with Roost and takes another Zen Headbutt.
JuanPalomo damages Girafarig with Return and takes another Zen Headbutt.

JuanPalomo uses Roost again and Girafarig escapes with Baton Pass. Lyra sends her last Mon, Arcanine.

JuanPalomo uses U-Turn and I send Reina. Arcanine uses Take Down.
Arcanine uses another Take Down and gets killed by Earth Power:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Girafarig remains. I send JuanPalomo into Zen Headbutt.
JuanPalomo finishes the battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Lyra wishes me good luck at Pokemon League and leaves.

Now I can truly go to Kanto. In a house close to Tohjo Falls there is a Skill Swap Tutor, which I don,t need at all.
At Route 27 I can catch a Mon:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

No Stats increase for Rapidash, but it does get Fairy Typing in this game, improving a lot with it.

Trainers in route 27 are very easy (in fact, wild Mons have higher levels than them), and after beating them, I arrive to Route 28. Here I can catch another Mon:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Dodrio gained the whole Movepool update from future Gens, meaning it leards both SD and Roost. So, when TripleBird gets into the team, it will be a valuable asset.

Trainers at Route 28 are stronger than the ones at 27, but I beat them too. Then I go to challenge the boss:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

Litvyak told me before the battle that all her Mons wear Choice Specs. The lead Alakazam becomes scary, though Eeveeto happens to be the lead of this battle.
Alakazam launches a powerful Psychic, Eeveeto uses Shadow Ball.
Alakazam uses Psychic again and leaves Eeveeto in red. Eeveeto leaves it in red too, but I need a sack now.

Litvyak heals Alakazam while I switch Misha in. Misha gets the Toxic Orb activated.

Litvyak withdraws Alakazam and sends Gengar, who gets the Defense dropped by Crunch.
Gengar misses Focus Blast and dies from Crunch:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

Alakazam comes back. Knowing that Misha won,t survive, I heal Eeveeto. Zam uses Focus Blast and even crits with it:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

RIP Misha.
She was the worst Mon, which means an obvious sack.

Anisoptero might have bad Special Defense, but he resists Fight. Alakazam misses Focus Blast and takes Shadow Ball.

Litvyak withdraws Alakazam again and sends Porygon-Z, immune to Shadow Ball.

Anisoptero uses U-Turn and Linterna takes Ice Beam.
Porygon-Z uses Ice Beam again. Linterna crits with Thunderbolt and paralyzes Porygon-Z.

Litvyak switches Porygon-Z out and sends Alakazam while Linterna heals with Recover.
Alakazam uses Psychic and takes Thunderbolt.
Eeveeto has enough health to live 2 Psychics, but not if one of them is crit. Unfortunately this means Linterna has to die:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

RIP Linterna. Fuck Specs Alakazam.

Eeveeto comes in, takes a Psychic and finishes the broken Alakazam:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

Porygon-Z comes only to die:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

This boss was harder than some Gym leaders despite having only 3 Mons:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

At least now I have Choice Specs myself.

Finishing the chapter here.

Chapter 28. Failed crime career.

Pretty out of options, I decide to train Corrupto (Poliwag) and Sacred (Entei).

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

(Forgot to take Screenshot of him evolving).

After the training, I enter into Victory Road... but first there is Route 23, like in RBY:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Like in RBY, there are 8 guards here that let me go through. There are also wild Mons, but all of them have already been caught.

I finally enter into actual Victory Road, where stroong Pokemon like Steelix and Rhydon appear, but I can,t catch any either.

Unlike in vanilla Crystal, there are trainers here, and very strong ones:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Matthew leads with level 41 Feraligatr. JuanPalomo escapes with U-Turn and Corrupto comes in.
Then Matthew withdraws Gatr and sends Ampharos.
I obviously switch Reina into Thunderbolt. Reina defeats Amphy.
Gatr comes back, so I send Corrupto and defeat it.
Corrupto proceeds to defeat an Ursaring too, despite the bear holding Leftovers.
Corrupto has enough level advantage to win vs a Noctowl too.
Corrupto wins vs Arcanine too.
Since Corrupto has very low health, I send Anisoptero vs the last Mon, who is a Sandslash. One Dragon Pulse finishes the battle.

Next trainer is Veteran Joanne. JuanPalomo easily defeats her Venusaur.
Joanne sends Electabuzz, which is a free switch-in for Reina, who OHKOs it.
Eeveeto defeats a Poliwrath, who despite having 9 less levels is somehow faster.
Evil Iron Tail Flareon tries to surprise Eeveeto with a crit, but I send Corrupto to receive it. Corrupto destroys the opposing Eeveelution.
Corrupto freezes a Pidgeot with Ice Punch and defeats it this way.
Last is a SD Scyther, who survives a Fly from JuanPalomo, but not 2.

I find the Earthquake TM and teach it to Sacred and Reina.

Close to Earthquake TM there is Veteran Sylvie searching for a Moltres. JuanPalomo escapes from her Typhlosion and Corrupto defeats it.
I send Reina to fight vs Togekiss, easily defeating it. Togekiss had Leftovers.
In comes Glaceon, so Sacred is the one to burn it.
With Earthquake, Sacred also defeats an Octillery.
Vs Pupitar I send Corrupto again.
Corrupto also defeats the last Mon, a Heracross. Sylvie tells me that she would have won if she had the Moltres.

After seeing 2 opposing Mons with Leftovers already, I decide to teach Thief to JuanPalomo, Anisoptero, Corrupto and Reina and take of their items. Its time for item hunting vs the remaining trainers!

JuanPalomo uses Thief vs the Blastoise of Veteran Remy:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

I send Corrupto to deal with Blastoise (who has Ice Beam), but Remy withdraws it, sacking a Ninetales.
Victreebel comes in. I send Anisoptero, but since Victreebel uses Swod Dance, its better to kill it right away. That doesn,t happen either, since the plant survives Dragon Pulse and poisons with Sludge Bomb.
Fearing Sucker Punch, I send Sacred, who gets poisoned too, but defeats Victreebel.
Blastoise comes back. I switch Eeveeto and discover this way that Blastoise is Water Steel in this game.
So, Corrupto is the one that has to defeat slowly the Blastoise. Since Remy heals the tortoise, I heal Anisoptero too, in case he can steal something in the future.
Remi withdraws Blastoise and sends Raichu. I switch to Reina, using Thief with her after taking lots of damage from Surf:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Anisptero then defeats the Raichu.
Blastoise comes back, so I send Corrupto again, which makes this battle problematic:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Corrupto takes 4 Surfs until he goes down to red. Ok, what should I do now?
I send JuanPalomo into the next Surf. JuanPalomo stalls with Roost, until:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Fuck, I might lose a Mon now.
I send Sacred, but even though he can kill Blastoise, he would die from poison the same turn.
So, I send Anisoptero to take Surf.
Anisoptero then uses U-Turn into Eeveeto:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

FUUUUUCK. Fortunately, Blastoise misses Aqua Tail and Eeveeto thaws and uses Dig, finally KOing it:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

How many Mons does this trainer which I underestimated has left? Actually only 2, and the next one is Skarmory. Reina comes in and heals, then slowly defeats Skarmory with Surf.
Last Mon is my nightmare:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

How the hell do I deal with that? Unfortunately, I need to sack JuanPalomo here. Alakazam puts Reflect.
JuanPalomo refuses to die and defrosts, healing with Roost. It proceeds to stall the Reflect turns and kill Alakazam with Return:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

This is how a Random trainer with Mons that have 10 less levels left my team:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

What did I gain? A Silk Scarf and a Mystic Water, which I already had. Wait, no, even less, the items didn,t stay after being stolen. Fuck, all this effort for nothing but risks.

Ok, no more crimes, I teach JuanPalomo U-Turn again, Brick Break to Corrupto, Shadow Ball to Anisoptero and Sludge Bomb to Reina.
I find a Razor Fang right before the exit of Victory Road. Unfortunately, I also encounter Shiyo:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

Shiyo leads with Weavile. So I switch JuanPalomo out and send the biggest counter to OU Dark Types ever, Corrupto. Weavile uses Sword Dance.

Shiyo smartly withdraws Weavile and sends Golbat into Brick Break.

I send JuanPalomo back, but he gets hit by Confuse Ray.

I send Sacred, losing half of his life to Super Fang.
Despite having 3 less levels, Golbat is faster and uses Poison Jab. Flamethrower does almost no damage, Golbat must have Eviolite.

Ok, time to outbulk Golbat with Reina, who takes Poison Jab, dealing damage with Rocky Helmet.
Golbat is faster than Reina too, confusing her with Confuse Ray. Reina manages to hit a Surf, but does very low damage.

I send JuanPalomo again, losing half of the health to Super Fang.
Golbat manages to survive a Return in red and confuses JuanPalomo.

Reina finishes Golbat with Rocky Helmet damage:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

Of course, Shiyo has another annoying Alakazam. However, this one does not have Specs, so Eeveeto takes Psychic very well.
Eeveeto takes another Psychic and uses Shadow Ball.
Alakazam tries to heal, but receives another Shadow Ball.
Alakazam tries it again and gets the Special Defense dropped.
Alakazam tries to hax with Confuse Ray (since when this motherfucker learns it?) but Eeveeto kills it with Shadow Ball:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

Next is Magneton. Reina takes Flash Cannon, but her Special Defense gets dropped.

I send JuanPalomo, surviving the next hit with 5 HP:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

JuanPalomo uses U-Turn, so Reina gets into the field again, Thunderbolt does no damage.
Reina heals with Healing Light and takes Flash Cannon.
Reina heals again, but gets the Special Defense dropped again. Fuck Magneton. He might have Levitate in this game, so I can,t stay.

Despite being a risky play, I send Sacred to take the next one:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

Magneton SURVIVES Flamethrower boosted by Charcoal and uses Thunderbolt:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-18.png

RIP Sacred. Big legendary rank, yet too weak.

Anisoptero finishes Magneton with Shadow Ball:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-19.png

Anisoptero gains a Speed Boost, so its faster than the Weavile Shiyo sends and damages it with U-Turn. Corrupto takes Night Slash.
Corrupto takes another Night Slash and uses Waterfall.
Corrupto finishes Weavile with Aqua Jet:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-20.png

Shiyo sends Gengar. It uses Mean Look, but gets a crit Waterfall.
Corrupto finishes Gengar with Aqua Jet:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-21.png

Typhlosion is last. Taking advantage of its Fire-Ground typing, Corrupto uses Aqua Jet, but its not enough to KO Typhlosion, who uses Dig.
Corrupto takes the Dig and finishes the battle with a Waterfall:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-22.png

This time Shiyo used all his hax to kill my legendary and severely damage the rest of my team:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-23.png

At least I arrive to Indigo Plateu, which in this game has a similar layout to RBY:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-24.png

Finishing the chapter here. Next one will consist in final preparation for the Elite 4.

Chapter 29. The six challengers.

Its time to prepare for Elite Four. First mission is to train at least one new Mon. And that Mon has to be designed for Will specifically. When I first played Pokemon Gold, back in 2007, Will was the hardest Elite Four to beat with his Psychic spamming Mons. In previous chapters several Alakazam gave me hell too, meaning that I need a Psychic resist. I have no Psychic Mons (except an Exeggcute who has to evolve into the Alolan form and Unown) and no Steel Mons, but I do have a Dark one: Voron (Murkrow).
I don,t want to repeat types, so JuanPalomo leaves the team, meaning he will survive the Elite Four challenge by not participating in it. Orange (Pichu) comes to his place.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

I train all my team until level 55. Lance caps at 60, so this ensures that I won,t overlevel him. Level 55 still puts me above Will and Koga, by the time I beat both some of my Mons will be above Bruno too and aproaching Karen, who caps at level 57.

After the training I buy 29 healing items. 7 for each Elite Four (1 during the battle, 6 after it) + 1 for Lance. Of course, they might use more than 1 per battle, but I don,t think I will use 7 in every battle, so this looks like enough.

Next are Ability Capsules. I have 2 of those. Unfortunately, they don,t work for Hidden Abilities. This means that Orange will never have Lightning Rod, Eeveeto will never have Pixilate and Reina will never have Sheer Force. I can in theory put Tinted Lens to Anisoptero and Insomnia to Voron, but I prefer the other 2 options: Serene Grace to Eeveeto, which makes Moonblast drop Special Attack 60% of the time and Water Absorb to Corrupto, every immunity is useful.

I also sell all my useless items and with the money I get, I buy 15 Vitamins for my team. Reina gets another gift, the only PP Max I have for her Healing Light.

With everything done, its time to present my team:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Corrupto is the first Mon that reached level 55, helping me a lot during the Victory Road. He is the bulkiest Mon in my team on the physical side, being also a competente physical Attacker. However, none of his moves have high power and he also gets no recovery outside of Sitrus Berry, which I won,t use vs Will, as Corrupto will never live 2 Psychics, with or without berries. I expect Corrupto to be the main asset vs Karen and do some damage vs Koga, Bruno and maybe Lance, he has Ice Punch after all.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

This is my best Special Attacker. Of course, he only has one Special STAB, since the Bug move for now is still U-Turn. This combined with Speed Boost and Roost gives Anisoptero some flexibility and momentum to my team, but less power. Fortunately, Anisoptero has enough resistantes and physical bulk, which allows him to switch-in into quite a lot of threats and beat them due to having Roost. I don,t think Anisoptero will be killing many Will Mons due to bad Special Bulk, but if I teach him Protect before Lance, he will be the perfect Revenge Killer in that battle, contributing vs the rest of Elite Four too.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

The definition of All Rounder. Reina has 4 Stats lower than Corrupto, Defense and HP among them. She is also the second slowest Mon after Eeveeto. However, despite all that, she is probably my best Mon due to having Healing Light and still a lots of bulk that allows her to be the optimal Mon to hold Rocky Helmet. Reina won,t be killing the opponents quickly, but she will be killing a lot of them using her resistances and coverage that can be adapted for every battle. I expect Reina to have a strong presence vs every opponent excep Will, being particularly useful to fully wall Bruno.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Its funny how Voron not only has the highest Attack, but also the highest HP too. This will prevent him from dying to neutral hits, since his bulk otherwise is pretty bad. Voron has one main goal, he is my only Psychic resist, he has to murder Will's Mons. Everything Voron does after that is a bonus, though with Night Slash + Super Luck + Scope Lens he at least will be able to hax a lot. Sucker Punch also means he can work as Revenge Killer. 2 immunities allow Voron to get into the field more often than his Defenses would suggest.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Orange is the worst Mon of this team. If I absolutely need to sack something, it will most likely be Orange. His only powerful move is Thunderbolt, since he doesn,t learn Surf by TM (only way to get a Surf Pikachu was surfing in Yellow Forest, not catching a Pichu in the grass). Apart from not being able to hit hard with coverage Moves (all of them physical), Orange is also very frail on the physical side. He however is the fastest Mon on the team and has Thunder Wave, which allows the rest of my team to outspeed staff they normally wouldn,t. If Orange gets alive to Lance and he has a Gyarados as lead, well, thats one easy kill for him to do. Being the frailest Mon, Orange holds a Focus Sash that will allow him to always do something before dying.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

The signature Mon of the team so far hasn,t been so impressive. However, vs Elite Four I expect Eeveeto to do a lot. Will will mostly attack from the Special side, in which Eeveeto not only has the highest bulk, but also holds Assault Vest. Koga is the one bad match-up, but after him, Bruno, Karen and Lance have almost all of their Mons weak to Fairy. Vs some of those Eeveeto could even hold Choice Specs and deal enormous damage with Moonblast or Draining Kiss to heal. Despite not doing much in previous battles (except vs Claire and Archer), Eeveeto should excel in the ones that are to come.

Finishing the chapter here. Make your bets on who gets the most kills at Elite Four.

Chapter 30. Mind games.

I decide to lead with Anisoptero vs Will, hoping he will outspeed his lead and use U-Turn.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

The music here is the one from Elite Four of SM. Just like in original GSC, Will leads with Xatu. Anisoptero is faster and escapes with U-Turn. I send Voron, right into Confuse Ray.

I switch Reina in. Xatu uses Quick Attack. This way, Reina contributes to this battle with both Rocky Helmet and Poison Point:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

I switch Voron in again. Xatu uses Psychic.

I switch Reina back. Xatu heals with Recover. This means it doesn,t have Flying STAB. Good to know.

Voron gets in again into Psychic.
Xatu heals again, but this time Voron stays and kills it with Night Slash:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Will sends his most threatening Mon, Jynx. I send Corrupto to eat Ice Beam.

I then switch Anisoptero in. He takes a lot of damage from Psychic, but gets a Speed Boost.

Anisoptero escapes with U-Turn. Orange eats Ice Beam.
Orange kills Jynx with Knock Off:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

The Knock Off reveals Brightpowder on Jynx, I was quite lucky to hit twice.
Exeggutor is the next Mon will sends.

I send Voron. Turns out, Egg is physical and uses Seed Bomb.
Voron uses Night Slash and eats another Seed Bomb.
Voron kills Exeggutor:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

Slowbro is next. Voron heals with Roost and takes Surf.
Voron heals again and takes another Surf.
Voron heals a third time, gaining just 1 HP after the Surf. Slowbro is too strong.
Voron heals again and doesn,t gain HP at all.

I send Corrupto, who gets healed by Surf.

Voron comes back to eat another Psychic.

Ok, I have no choice but to send Eeveeto, who takes almost no damage from Surf.
Eeveeto uses Moonblast and takes a Psychic.
Eeveeto uses another Moonblast and drops the Special Attack of Slowbro, who heals with Sitrus Berry and uses Psychic again.

Eeveeto is in yellow now, so I switch Voron in again. But Slowbro uses Body Slam and paralyzes him. Ok, I am in big troubles now.

I send Anisoptero, who survives Surf with just 14 HP:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Anisoptero heals with Roost but only gains 10 HP, Slowbro used Psychic.

Anisoptero kills Slowbro with Shadow Ball:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

When I said Jynx was the most dangerous Mon on Will's team I lied. He has an ALAKAZAM. Anisoptero escapes from it with U-Turn, Voron comes into Psychic.

I send Corrupto, but Alakazam heals with Recover.

I send Voron again.

Voron uses Sucker Punch... but Will withdraws Alakazam and sends a second Xatu.

I send Reina into Quick Attack. Xatu reveals Leftovers as item after taking Rocky Helmet damage.
Xatu uses Future Sight and...

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Gets frozen.
Xatu gets killed next turn:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Alakazam remains, as scary as always. Voron takes both Psychic and Future Sight.

Instead of risking para, I send Eeveeto this time. Alakazam heals with Recover.
Alakazam uses Light Screen and gets a Special Attack drop from Moonblast.
Alakazam uses Psychic and gets another drop.
Alakazam gets a Special Defense Drop on Eeveeto but Eeveeto gets another one on Special Attack.

I send Voron again. Alakazam heals.
I risk para and use Sucker Punch and...

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Battle finishes. Phew, that was very scary after the Slowbro paralysis. Even with my big level advantage, Will was very dangerous:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

I heal my team and finish the chapter here.

Kill count.

Voron: 3
Reina: 1 (very unexpected)
Orange: 1
Anisoptero: 1
Corrupto: 0
Eeveeto: 0

Chapter 31. Toxic tactics.

With Will defeated, I put Scope Lens on Voron, with them he will overall do more damage. I also teach Earthquake to Corrupto (instead of Brick Break) and Flamethrower to Reina (instead of Sludge Bomb). Reina will be the lead, both Ariados and Forretress are likely leads from Koga, she has good match-up vs both (despite neither of them being actual Poison types).

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

Koga does lead with Ariados as expected. Due to its Speed increase, its faster than Reina despite having 5 less levels. The spider uses Double Team and gets hit by Flamethrower.

Ariados uses Baton Pass and a Venomoth comes in, getting hit by Flamethrower.

Fearing Psychic, I send Voron, who gets confused by Supersonic.

Reina comes into Bug Buzz.
Venomoth confuses Reina and barely survives Flamethrower.

I switch Eeveeto in, losing just 24 HP from Psychic.
Eeveeto gets confused and hits himself.
Venomoth uses Psychic. Eeveeto snaps confusion but misses Shadow Ball.
Venomoth uses Toxic and finally dies from Shadow Ball:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

Forretress comes in. I send Reina, who takes Iron Head, damaging the bug with Rocky Helmet.
Reina kills Forretress with Flamethrower:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Ariados is back. It uses Double Team while Reina heals with Healing Light.
Ariados damages Reina with Giga Drain and takes Flamethrower, eating a Sitrus Berry.
Ariados uses Giga Drain again and dies:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Koga sends Weezing. Reina heals and avoids Will-o-Wisp.
Reina uses Ice Beam and is burned.
Reina uses Ice Beam again and takes Sludge Bomb.
Fearing Explosion, Reina heals and takes another Sludge Bomb.
Reina uses Ice Beam and gets damaged by another Sludge Bomb.
Reina heals. This is the moment Weezing decides to explode:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

Dangerous Crobat comes in. I send Orange to fight vs him. Crobat uses Double Team.
Crobat uses Poison Jab and avoids Thunderbolt.

Corrupto takes the next Poison Jab, getting poisoned.

I send Voron, taking Super Fang.

Ok, maybe he doesnt have Brave Bird. I send Reina, damaging Crobat with Rocky Helmet. He reveals Leftovers.
Crobat uses Super Fang, allowing Reina to heal.
Crobat uses Super Fang again. Reina heals again.
Crobat misses Super Fang and gets hit by Ice Beam.
Crobat uses Super Fang one last time and dies:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Last is Muk. Reina heals while it boosts Evasion with Minimize.
Reina uses Earthquake and takes Sludge Bomb.
Reina misses the next Earthquake and takes another Sludge Bomb.
Reina uses the last Healing Light PP, taking another Sludge Bomb.
Reina uses EQ and takes another Sludge Bomb.
Reina finishes the battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Despite having less level advantage, Koga was easier than Will, Reina completely destroyed almost his whole team:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

I heal my team (especially Healing Light PPs) and finish the chapter here.

Kill count.

Reina: 6
Voron: 3
Eeveeto: 1
Orange: 1
Anisoptero: 1
Corrupto: 0

Chapter 32. Outmuscling a gymbro.

For Bruno, I put Sharp Beak to Voron. I also teach Sludge Bomb again to Reina (instead of Ice Beam) and Hidden Power to Orange (instead of Dig). Finally, I put Specs to Eeveeto, who will be the lead in this battle (and hopefully the cleaner too).

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

Bruno leads with Hitmontop, who is faster than Eeveeto and uses Dig, avoiding Moonbast this way.

If I can avoid damage on Eeveeto for free, I do it. Voron goes in.
Voron uses Fly, avoiding Close Combat, but Hitmontop Protects.
I decide to repeat Fly 7 more times to stall Close Combat PPs, but Hitmontop stop protecting much earlier and dies:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

Hitmonchan comes in. I send Reina, who gets a lot of damage from Ice Punch, but poisons Hitmonchan, also damaging it with Rocky Helmet.

I send Corrupto into the next Ice Punch.

Reina eats Thunder Punch.

Corrupto eats another Ice Punch.

I send Anisoptero into the next Thunder Punch.
Anisoptero kills Hitmonchan with Dragon Pulse:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

I expected Bruno to have Steelix in this game, but no, he still has a pathetic Onix. Its still a threat for Anisoptero, who escapes with U-Turn. Corrupto takes Rock Slide.
Corrupto uses Aqua Jet, but its not enough to kill Onix, who uses Earthquake.
Corrupto finishes Onix:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

A dangerous Heracross comes in. Eeveeto takes the Close Combat.
Eeveeto takes Megahorn and almost kills Heracross with Draining Kiss, recovering all the health lost.
Eeveeto finishes Heracross after taking another Megahorn:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

Machamp comes. It uses Sword Dance and takes Draining Kiss.
Machamp misses Cross Chop and dies:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Last is Hitmonlee. This should have been an easy win, but Eeveeto has run out of Draining Kiss PPs. I send Orange, who survives High Jump Kick with 1 HP due to Focus Sash.

Eeveeto comes back to take another High Jump Kick.
On the last turn of the battle, Hitmonlee manages to crit, but Eeveeto survives and kills it with Specs Moonblast:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Bruno has been a joke in every game and this one is not different. He did damage my team quite a lot, but the only moment in which the battle wasn,t fully under my control was when Hitmonchan appeared:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

I heal my team and finish the chapter here. Bruno was the last battle in which my team was (a littler) overleveled, I will be on par with Karen and Lance will be hard.

Kill count.

Reina: 6
Voron: 4
Eeveeto: 4
Anisoptero: 2
Orange: 1
Corrupto: 1

Chapter 33. Strong Pokemon. Weak Pokemon.

Before challenging Karen, I teach Reina Shadow Ball and Ice Beam instead of Sludge Bomb and Flamethrower. Both Corrupto and Orange gain Brick Break again instead of Earthquake and Hidden Power.
I have 8 Rare Candies. I planned to use them all before Lance, but I will use one now for Anisoptero in order for him to get to level 57 and finally learn Bug Buzz. Anisoptero also will have an Assault Vest for this battle, Gengar is the one Mon I fear the most from Karen. Eeveeto stays as the lead, with Specs.

Karen's room is quite cool in this game:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

Battle begins:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

Karen leads with Umbreon. It uses Feint Attack and survives Specs Moonblast.
Umbreon uses Confuse Ray and dies:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Karen sends Alolan Persian. I switch Anisoptero in, but he gets hit by Play Rough.

Anisoptero escapes with U-Turn, I send Reina to take next Play Rough.
Persian uses Screech and survives Earthquake.

I send Anisoptero again. He gets hit by Night Slash.
Anisoptero kills Persian with Bug Buzz:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Weavile is next. Corrupto easily switches into Ice Punch.
Weavile uses Screech... and survives Brick Break. WTF, Corrupto?

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

It does not survive Aqua Jet however:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Unlike Bruno, Karen has evolved her Murkrow in this game into Honchkrow. I switch Reina in, but she takes a lot of damage from Brave Bird, even though the Recoil is high too.

I switch Orange in, but he takes a lot of damage too.

I correctly predict Sucker Punch and send Voron.
Voron uses Fly. Opposing Honchkrow survives and uses Brave Bird, dying from recoil and almost killing Voron too:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Houndoom comes. Corrupto takes the Flamethrower.

Corrupto uses Waterfall, Houndoom uses Roar and Orange comes into the field.

I send Corrupto again while Karen heals Houndoom.
I heal Anisoptero in case he has to battle a Gengar after this Houndoom. Speaking of Houndoom, he uses Flamethrower this turn, burning Corrupto and leaving him in red.

I send Eeveeto, but...

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Fuck this Houndoom. Eeveeto survives another Flamethrower and uses Moonblast, lowering Houndoom's Special Attack. This is how Eeveeto survives the turn:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

I switch Anisoptero, who loses half of his life to Flamethrower.
Anisoptero uses Bug Buzz and barely survives the next Flamethrower:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Anisoptero uses U-Turn, killing Doom:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

As expected, Karen's last Mon is a Gengar. Voron uses Sucker Punch... and doesn,t kill:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

RIP Voron. He did his job of defeating Will, everything after that was a life extension. Despite that, he was a very good Mon, even winning a Honchkrow duel. Unfortunately, Super Luck didn,t work this time.

Orange comes in. He kills Gengar with Knock Off, ending the battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Now, this battle was brutal. Thats an actual well designed team, Gengar has a very good sinergy with Dark types. I wish actual Pokemon games had more trainers with Mons not from their type. My team ended up almost destroyed:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

After healing the team, I finish the battle.

Kill count.

Reina: 6
Voron: 5
Eeveeto: 5
Anisoptero: 4
Orange: 2
Corrupto: 2

Everyone except Voron can still win the MVP award. Who will it be? Make your bets!

Chapter 34. Bug dragon vs blue dragon.

For the final battle, Corrupto learns Earthquake again, he may have to fight vs Charizard. Sitrus Berry will be his item.
Reina learns Roar instead of Shadow Ball. I will be really desperate if I have to use it, but no other move helps in this match-up at all.
Orange learns Reflect instead of Brick Break. He also gets Air Balloon as item instead of Focus Sash. He will also be the lead.
Finally, Anisoptero gets Protect instead of Shadow Ball and the Focus Sash I took from Orange.
I spend my Rare Candies. Eeveeto eats 3, Anisoptero another 3, the remaining one goes to Corrupto.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

As expected, Lance leads with Gyarados, who surprisingly survives Thunderbolt from Orange and uses Dragon Dance:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

I switch Corrupto into Waterfall.
Corrupto kills Gyarados with Aqua Jet:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Lance sends a Dragonite, which is not the ace one. Corrupto barely survives Thunder and damages it hard with Ice Punch.

Reina switches into the next Thunder.
Dragonite uses Blizzard but misses, so Reina kills it with Ice Beam:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Kingdra is next. Corrupto switches into Surf and heals a little.

Eeveeto switches into Hyper Beam.
Eeveeto uses Moonblast for free, lowering the Special Attack from Kingdra.

I switch Corrupto back, but Kingdra uses Hyper Beam again.

Anisoptero switches in for free and gets Speed Boost.
Anisoptero finishes Kingdra:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

Lance sends Aerodactyl. Anisoptero protects from Rock Slide.

I check and confirm Aerodactyl is still Rock-Flying in this game. So, Anisoptero escapes with U-Turn. Reina takes Rock Slide.
Aerodactyl uses Giga Impact, activating Poison Point and eating Rocky Helmet damage and Ice Beam too.

Of course, this is a perfect chance for me to send Anisoptero again.
Anisoptero protects.
Anisoptero finishes Aerodactyl:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Charizard comes. Both Pokemon use Dragon Pulse, Anisoptero surviving with Focus Sash.
Anisoptero finishes Charizard:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Last Mon is a beautiful blue Dragonite. I send Orange, sacking it to Extreme Speed, first hit he survives.
Second doesn,t:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

RIP Orange. I told that he was the Mon that I would sack if needed and it ended up being true. This could have been avoided if he KOd Gyarados.

I send Eeveeto. Dragonite uses Fly, dealing tremendous damage and surviving Moonblast. I basically lost the battle here.

My only hope is sacking Reina:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

RIP Reina.
She at least poisoned Dragonite, though he still has Leftovers.

I send Anisoptero. He protects while Lance heals Dragonite.

I sack Corrupto:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

RIP Corrupto.
Hopefully with this I can win.

I send Anisoptero again. He protects from Extreme Speed.
Time to trick Lance. I could heal Eeveeto, but I heal Anisoptero instead. He takes Extreme Speed.
Anisoptero uses Dragon Pulse and crits, though Multiscale mitigates the damage. Dragonite uses Fly.
Anisoptero protects.
Anisoptero uses Dragon Pulse. Dragonite flies.
Anisoptero protects.
Anisoptero finishes the battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

I played the end-game of this battle terribly and only Poison Point saved me from complete defeat. What I should have done was sacking Corrupto to Nite right away and then puting Reflect with Orange. Orange would have probably died anyway, but Reina would have survived the battle. As things are, only Anisoptero and Eeveeto survived (the Corrupto sack I ended up doing was quite stupid too now that I think about it).

Final death count.

Anisoptero: 8
Reina: 7
Voron: 5

Eeveeto: 5
Corrupto: 3
Orange: 2

My dragon ends up being the MVP and the best dragon of the League, Lance should have used one too.

So, this is how the first part of the game ends. I will have to train a new team before going to Kanto but at least there I will be able to catch more Mons and evolve some of the ones I have in the PC.

Chapter 35. The mad scientist.

A new day starts in Newbark Town. Elm calls me to give me something, but wants to battle first:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

Of course, with just 2 Mons, its impossible for me to accept his challenge. So, I go and train 4 Mons: one of them is going to be JuanPalomo (Pidgeot).

Before picking the rest of my team, I visit the Wonder Trade feature in Goldenrod City. I trade the Togepi first... with myself, getting this Mon:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

Spiky Eared Pichu! I will evolve it into Alolan Raichu when I get the item needed for it. Among with Pichu, apparently the first time Wonder Trade is used, I also receive this:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

I also trade Dratini, but receive a Tentacool. Trading the same Mon twice looks like cheating, so Tentacool goes to the PC... until I remember there was a dude in Goldenrod Harbor that wantes a Tentacool and offered a Grimer. I trade Tentacool to that dude, hoping for Alolan variant. However, its Kanto one, and therefore unusable. At least, it has held Eviolite.
Ok, since Wonder Trade didn,t get me new valid Mons for the team, I will have to search in the PC for them. Escombro (Tyrogue) will be one, Sir Quag (Quagsire) another and the last slot goes to Nephentes (Weepinbell).

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

(Unfortunately I didn,t have enough money to manipulate Escombro's evolution into Hitmontop).

When the training ends, I go to challenge Elm.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Elm is a threat, he leads with Skarmory, which probably has Spikes. My lead Sir Quag takes Air Slash and uses Surf.
Sir Quag takes another Air Slash and has to heal with Recover.
Skarmory continues atacking and takes another Surf back.
Skarmory uses Air Slash again and Sir Quag heals.
Skarmory damages Sir Quag with enother Air Slash. Sir Quag uses Surf.
After taking another Air Slash (which is 4HKO btw), Sir Quag heals again.
Sir Quag takes another Air Slash and kills Skarmory, without it never using Spikes:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Elm sends Meganium. Nephentes takes the obvious Giga Drain.
Elm doesn,t have smart AI. Meganium uses Leech Seed (which it doesn,t learn by level btw, Elm must have breeded it) and dies to Sludge Bomb.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Typhlosion is next. I send Sir Quag... and he takes way too much damage from Flamethrower. Ok, I am in trouble.

Eeveeto takes the next Flamethrower.
Typhlosion uses Sunny Day and has his Special Attack dropped by Moonblast.
Typhlosion uses Flamethrower and has his Special Attack dropped again by Moonblast. However, Eeveeto is already in yellow range.

I send JuanPalomo to take the next Flamethrower.
Not wanting to activate Blaze in Sun, JuanPalomo heals with Roost. Even at -2, the Flamethrower takes half of his life.
JuanPalomo heals again, taking another Flamethrower. Sun finally ends.
JuanPalomo uses Return, Typhlosion survives it in red and uses Sunny Day.
Elm heals Typhlosion, who takes Return. I am not sure the next Return will kill it, so will have to continue risking a crit.
JuanPalomo heals and takes Flamethrower.
JuanPalomo heals and takes Flamethrower.
JuanPalomo heals and takes Flamethrower. Sun finally ends.
JuanPalomo uses Return. As expected, Typhlosion survives it and uses Sunny Day.
JuanPalomo finishes Typhlosion:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Next is Feraligatr of course. JuanPalomo escapes from it with U-Turn and Nephentes takes Rock Slide.
Nephentes kills the Water starter witn Energy Ball, being faster due to the Sun:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Elm sends a Donphan. Nephentes heals with Healing Light, but Earthquake does too much.

I send JuanPalomo into the next Earthquake.
JuanPalomo heals and takes Giga Impact.
JuanPalomo damages Donphan with Return for free.
JuanPalomo heals again, Donphan starts using Rollout.

JuanPalomo escapes with U-Turn, I send Escombro into second Rollout.
Escombro uses Bulk Up, taking third Rollout.
Escombro kills Donphan with Reckless boosted Hi Jump Kick. Yes, I am using this move in a Nuzlocke, but thats why Escombro has Wide Lens:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

Last is Ursaring. Needless to say, it never stood a chance:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Elm gives me the ship ticket and also tells me that Battle Tower is now open. Apart from it, he mentions that should I beat Kanto Gym leaders, there will be a rematch for Elite Four.

Before I leave, I get terrified by a surprising appearance of:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

Lyra saw my battle vs Lance on TV and it inspired her to continue her journey by challenging Johto Gyms, which means she can,t work for Elm anymore:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

Fortunately, Lyra didn,t want to battle. With the current state of my team, she would have destroyed me:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

Finishing the chapter here.

Chapter 36. Unfinished island.

Before going to Kanto, I decide to visit the Battle Tower, using JuanPalomo, Eeveeto and Sir Quag. Apart from having the BW Subway battle theme, the opponents are not entirely random trainers:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

I switch JuanPalomo out of lead Magmortar, so Sir Quag defeats it.
Sir Quag tries to heal vs a Raticate, but it ends up being Flame Orb + Facade, so Sir Quag is defeated.
The Rocky Helmet of Sir Quag did enough damage to Raticate, JuanPalomo finishes him with 1 Return.
Last is Pinsir. He is faster than JuanPalomo and I also missclick, as a result JuanPalomo falls to Stone Edge.
Eeveeto wins vs Pinsir however.

Apparently I receive 1 BP for opponent in this game:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

Next opponent is Youngster Blake, who knows that I am the champion. He leads with a scary Drought Flareon. I switch Sir Quag into Smokescreen.
Predicting Solar Beam, I switch JuanPalomo into... another Smokescreen, but he is immune due to Keen Eye.
I switch Sir Quag again. Before dying, Flareon never does anything except Smokescreen.
Electrode comes in. It uses Hidden Power Grass and avoids Earthquake.
Eeveeto comes in and easily defeats Electrode.
Last is another Sylveon. Eeveeto wins the duel.

I receive 2 BPs for winning the second battle. I like this mechanic. Third opponent is Sightseer Gerard. His lead is Nidoqueen from which JuanPalomo escapes.
Sir Quag easily takes Stone Edge from Queen, but Earth Power + Sheer Force leaves him in red, in exchange for a Surf.
Juan Palomo comes in again and finishes Nidoqueen.
Next is Golduck. JuanPalomo escapes from it, but Eeveeto is confused by Confuse Ray.
Golduck ends up dealing a lot of damage to Eeveeto before falling.
Last Mon is a Berserk Gene Pidgeot. It defeats both Eeveeto and Sir Quag, but ends up in red after that.
Therefore, JuanPalomo wins the duel.

Instead of expected 3 BPs, I only get 2. Teacher Hong is 4th opponent. JuanPalomo escapes once again from lead Forretress, but Sir Quag eats a Toxic.
Sir Quag manages to defeat the dangerous bug, but falls to poison the same turn.
Galarian Rapidash comes, but JuanPalomo easily defeats it with 2 Returns.
Last Mon is very scary, Rhyperior. JuanPalomo can,t hope to defeat it, but with Roost manages to Stall out Avalanche PPs... which ends up being a bad idea, Rhyperior reveals Iron Head.
When I use Moonblast with Eeveeto, I discover the terrible truth:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Rhyperior is Ground Steel in this game. I of course lose this battle.

With 5 BPs, I can,t buy anything in Battle Tower. Items sold here are mostly competitive ones. In order to make the challenge harder, I am forbidden to buy those that I don,t have yet, meaning I will have to defeat some Kanto route bosses to deserve those items. However, Ability Capsules are sold at Battle Tower too, and those are fine to obtain... though they do cost 32 BPs. I will be returning to Battle Tower every time my team changes, like I did in Midele Emerald.

But wait, I haven,t left the Tower yet. It has a second floor, where both Cheryl and Marley want to fight:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Cheryl leads with Blissey. JuanPalomo escapes with U-Turn and I send Nephentes. Bliss uses... Substitute.
Blissey is faster than Nephentes, uses Susbtitute, crits and paralyzes Nephentes.

Ok, plan B. I send Sir Quag, who has Rocky Helmet. He gets paralyzed too.
Blissey damages Sir Quag again. He can,t move.
Cheryl uses Full Restore on Blissey. Sir Quag heals with Recover.
Sir Quag takes another Body Slam and breaks the Substitute with Earthquake.
Blissey uses Light Screen and takes another Earthquake.
Blissey uses Body Slam. Sir Quag can,t move.
Blisey uses Body Slam. Sir Quag heals with Recover.
Blisey uses Body Slam and dies from Rocky Helmet:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Cheryl sends Nidoqueen. It uses Earth Power. Sir Quag heals. Light Screen ends.
Sir Quag takes another Earth Power and damages Queen with Surf.

I send JuanPalomo into next Earth Power.

JuanPalomo escapes with U-Turn and Escombro takes... Close Combat of all things.
Escombro kills Nidoqueen with Earthquake:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Cheryl sends... Wobbuffet. Fortunately, Escombro has Bulk Up. However, I heal Sir Quag first, in case I need him later.
Escombro easily gets to +6 and then kills Wobbuffet with crit Knock Off:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

The Clefable Cheryl sends next dies too:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

So does Wigglytuff:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

And finally Azumarill:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

For all the risks, Cheryl doesn,t give anything as a prize. Therefore, I see no point in risking my team vs Marley right now, will return later.

I finally go to SS Aqua. There I easily defeat all the underleveled trainers, Agent Looker among them. Also this psycho baker:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Just like in vanilla Crystal, I have to find a little girl, who is playing with the captain. However, instead of Metal Coat, in this game I get a Macho Brace, a much worse prize for finding the girl.

I arrive to Kanto. However, in the port I see a misterious guy:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

...in that island...

When he goes toward the ship he bumps into me and presents himself while Zinnia music starts playing:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

...bumping into you.

He tells me that he collects legendaries before leaving.

I also discover another dock with another ship:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

This Ferry can take me to Shamouti Island, a place that Lawrence mentioned he had been to while searching the legendary. I decide to go there before exploring Kanto:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

Music here sounds like one of the Sinnoh Routes (the one that is right before the Eterna City), but the music of the trainers (like the one seen on screen) is from Alola games.

I explore Beautiful Beach, which is the first area of Shamouti Island. There is Grass, but no wild Mons appear here. I do defeat the trainers.

Surf theme is the one from Hoenn games. I surf to the West until I reach the main part of Shamouti Island. Here, the Sunyshore City theme sounds.

At the Pokemon Center I meet Profesor Ivy:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

...champion.

Ivy investigates Pokemon with color variations. After speaking about them, she offers me a new starter:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-18.png

Charizard has been OU in GSC, ORAS and SM. Venusaur was OU in BW and ORAS too, so there is only one real choice:

After giving me the Squirtle, Ivy leaves to Valencia Island. Lets take a look at Squirtle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-19.png

Blastoise not only has Mega Launcher as a posible ability (not for Laud though), but also got the Steel typing in this game. Its one of the few Steels I can use, and by far the best of them.

I explore the city of the island. There is one empty house, probably relevant for the plot in the future. Near it, there are two vendors:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-20.png

Left guy sells weather rocks, Light Clay and Eviolite. Right guy sends Mental Herb, Power Herb, White Herb and Big Root. Nothing interesting for me.

There is a cave, but its blocked by a sleeping Vileplume:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-21.png

A building with the name Shamouti Tourist Center is also empty inside.

An hotel is also present, this one is not empty. The rooms are all booked, but I can visit the Oasis Restaurant:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-22.png

For 5000 I can enjoy a meal and a battle. However, when I pay, no food is brought and no trainer either. What kind of fraud is this place? :changry:

I explore the rooms of the first floor. 2 are open but empty, the other one is closed.
Same happens in the second floor, which is the last one. What is the point of this entire place? Looks like game got released without finishing developing it.

There is one other house in the island... also empty. At least close to it there is a tree with Figy Berry and a path to a hidden area of Beautiful Beach. There I defeat a Swimmer with 3 Remoraids and a Mantine and a painter with 3 Smeargles.

I reach a house named Island Villa. At first it looks empty too, but there is a smaller room with 2 persons, one of them sleeping and the other reading a weird book:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-23.png

The persons they the following sentences:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-25.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-26.png

Just as I suspected, this island isn,t fully developed yet, sad.

I go back to Shamouti Island and go to the North from there, reaching Rocky Beach. There is grass here too, but like the rest of the island, no wild Mons. Also another completely empty house, this is becoming very sad experience.
I do defeat a bunch of trainers, but some of them look unfinished too, I already encountered 4 trainers with just a level 50 Bulbasaur.

At the end of the chapter, I might be getting an adventure in the next one:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-27.png

His Pikablu went to the Noisy Forest, in the East. In the next chapter hopefully somehting interesting happens there.

Chapter 37. Another unfinished island.

I enter into Noisy Forest. Music there is clearly from Pokemon, but I can,t recognize it. Must be from some game made after the BW, which is the last one I played.

The place is huge, but without any wild Mon, just like the rest of the Island. I do defeat the trainers and eventually find the Marill:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

The owner appears right after that:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

As a prize I get an Odd Souvenir, item that allows to evolve Pikachu, Exeggcute and Cubone into their Alolan evolutions.

I continue exploring the forest and find the Drain Punch TM. No one in my team can learn it however.

I also find a very strong trainer from Hoenn:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Why does Sinnoh battle music sound here instead of Battle Frontier Ace one? Anabel leads with Espeon and I realize that my Psychic resist is... no one. I also have Nephentes as lead, so, troubles are about to begin, since surely she has a Alakazam too.

I send JuanPalomo, but not only Espeon does over a half with Psychic, it drops Special Defense too.

I then send Anisoptero right into Power Gem, surviving it with just 17 HP.
Anabel decides to heal Espeon, but it ends up in red after Bug Buzz.
Anisoptero finishes Espeon:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

Snorlax is next. Anisoptero escapes with U-Turn and Escombro takes Outrage.
One Hi Jump Kick is enough for Snorlax:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Anabel is trying to wear down Eeveeto before sending Alakazam by sending a Slowking first. Unfortunately, I don,t have other options but to send Eeveeto into Psychic.
Eeveeto uses Moonblast. Slowking sets Rain Dance.
Eeveeto uses Moonblast and drops Slowking's Special Defense. Slowking uses Psychic.
Eeveeto uses Shadow Ball... and Slowking survives:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Slowking uses Swagger this turn.

I send JuanPalomo expecting to heal with Roost after taking a -1 Psychic, but he ends in red and at -1 Special Defense.
So, I am forced to kill Slowking:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Rain stops. Anabel sends a Bellosom. JuanPalomo escapes with U-Turn and I send Nephentes into STAB Moonblast.

Anabel withdraws Bellosom and sends the anticipated and feared Alakazam into Sludge Bomb.

I send Eeveeto. Alakazam uses Future Sight.
Alakazam uses Calm Mind but Eeveeto neutralizes the Special Attack boost with Moonblast drop.
Alakazam avoids death by using Confuse Ray, Eeveeto damages himself and then takes Future Sight.
I heal Eeveeto. Alakazam uses Future Sight again.
Alakazam avoids dying with another Confuse Ray.
Alakazam uses Psychic and survives another Moonblast, getting the Special Attack lowered. This also lowers the Future Sight power at the end of the turn.
Alakazam tries to hax with Confuse Ray again, but Eeveeto finishes him with Draining Kiss:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

Bellosom comes back. So, I switch Nephentes again, this time into Stun Spore.
Nephentes OHKOs Bellosom with Sludge Bomb:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Last is Politoed. Despite him being Water Grass in this game, I decide to switch Eeveeto in again, taking Hyper Voice.
Politoed uses Swagger, but Eeveeto manages to land a Moonblast, lowering the Special Attack of Politoed too.

Now that Politoed is neutralized and I don,t fear an Ice Beam anymore, I send Nephentes again... into Double Slap. Oh, level up moves for this trainer too. Despite that, the rest of Anabel's team has been a threat.
Politoed is faster than Nephentes but misses Swagger, dying from Sludge Bomb:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

Anabel gives me a Power Band and leaves for Battle Tower (of Johto, specification is needed in her case). With AV Eeveeto being my "Psychic resist", Anabel has been a very dangerous trainer and damaged my team a lot:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

After healing my team, I finish Noisy Forest and arrive to Shrine Ruins. Music here is from some Kalos City, I don,t know which.

An old man tells me about how the shrine was wrecked by a storm that threatened all the island, but...

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

Here is the actual shrine:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

I find a hidden Max Revive close to the shrine (free money) and a Rare Candy in the sea surrounding it, but there is nothing more to do here.

So, I go back to Rocky Beach and surf there. However, there is only one swimmer to beat and a Pearl String to pick.

The only area left to explore is the cave blocked by Vileplume. However, when I go back to the ship, Vermillion City is not the only option to go to:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

So, I arrive to Valencia Island. Music here is from the first Hoenn Route.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

...those found in Kanto and Johto.

Of course they are, Hoeen surfing theme is here, meaning waters are clearly different.

I leave the port and arrive to the only route of the island, Route 49:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

Unique flora that displaced the unique fauna, because there are still no wild Mons here :changry:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

Really, bro? Btw, every trainer met on this route has a level 50 Bulbasaur as the only Mon. Even an Aroma Lady that asks me before battle whether I want to see her Bellosom. Though at least this one after the battle says that her Bellosom didn,t want to battle, so it kinda makes sense.

I finally arrive to the main city of Valencia Island. Music here is from Evergrande City.

A dude mentions a couple of strong trainers living in a house to the right of him:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-18.png

He tells me that they are a mother and her daughter or maybe a son (someone Non-Binary?). But they are on vacation in Alola.

Another boy is horny:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-19.png

...don,t you think?

Unlike in Smamouti Island, the few houses I can enter to, are not empty. Unfortunately, in one of them, 2 sisters named Faith and Charity have the "TO DO" dialogue.
However, there is also the Ivy Lab. Ivy is attending a sick Nidorino when I come:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-20.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-21.png

...Berries for it?

I actually have one of those, but have no idea where to find more.

So, back to Kanto I go. First I decide to get some Full Restore, and since those are sold at Pokemon League, I go there.
My surprise is big when I encounter Yellow, who gives me a Mon she can,t take care of:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-22.png

Unfortunately, I can,t use him. I will probably Wonder Trade him at some point.

Back in Vermillion, I explore the city. Most of it is like in vanilla Crystal, except one new building.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-23.png

...down, so it's not safe to open the Battle Factory.

So, there is Battle Factory in this game. You now know where will I be spending time once I unlock it.

To the north of Vermillion City there is Route 6, where I can catch a new Mon:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-24.png

As strange as it sounds, Hypno has not been improved in this game except by moves from later Gens, like Calm Mind. Still, its one of the fre Psychic resists I have.

Now, regarding Kanto Gyms, I came to the conclusion that I have to break my rule of not overleveling them. This is due to their levels: 60 for Surge, 62 Sabrina, 64 Misty, 65 Erika, 66 Janine, 68 Brock, 69 Blaine and 70 Blue. Its literally impossible to not overlevel them while beating all the trainers. My team right now is at level 62 and 63, I would have to train 6 Mons if I followed old rule.
So, from now instead of not overleveling, the new rule will be not overleveling by more than 2 levels. This means, that JuanPalomo, Escombro and Eeveeto can,t be used vs Surge, but the rest of my team can.

Still needing to train 3 Mons, I finish the chapter here.

Chapter 38. Tectonic rage.

As new Mons to train I pick Tsuchinoko (Dunsparce), Sardinilla (Ponyta) and Pendulum (Hypno).

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

After training the newcomers, I go to Lt. Surge's Gym.
Main diference from vanilla Crystal in the Gym is that traps are not disabled in this game. Also, there is an avoidable trap of having to fight 3 trainers without resing (which I don,t fall for):

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

Some trainers use special Pikachu forms:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

After I beat all the trainers and find the switches, battle vs Surge begins:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Surge leads with Electabuzz. My lead is Tsuchinoko. Buzz puts Light Screen and survives Earthquake.

I decide to not risk Ice Punch or Cross Chop in turn 2 and sends Sardinilla... into Quick Attack.
I regret my decision next turn when Electabuzz turns out to be faster and uses Wild Charge before dying to strength:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

Electrode is next. Here I send Sir Quag, immune to Thunderbolt.
Electrode uses Screech but misses, dying to Earthquake. The misses didn,t matter, Sir Quag has Damp:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Ace Raichu comes. I suspect some evil Grass move and send Nephentes into Quick Attack.
Raichu misses Thunder and is slept by Sleep Powder.
Nephentes uses Energy Ball for free.
Raichu wakes up and damages Nephentes with Thunder. It survives Energy Ball and heals with Sitrus Berry.
Nephentes survives the next Thunder with 10 HP and heals with Healing Light.

Ok, its time for Tsuchinoko sweep. It switches into Thunder, to which its immune.
Raichu uses Quick Attack. Tsuchinoko uses Dragon Dance, new move from this game.
Raichu uses another Quick Attack, Tsuchinoko gets to +2.
Raichu continues using useless Quick Attack, Tsuchinoko heals with Roost.
Raichu uses Quick Attack, Tsuchinoko gets to +3.
This is enough, rest of the battle goes like this:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

This was probably the easiest Gym Battle of the game, in theory Tsuchinoko could have boosted vs the lead Electabuzz and swept all the team, but I feared coverage moves.

I get the badge and the Wild Charge TM. Sardinilla learns the move, but its just as dangerous as the STAB Flare Blitz she already has.

When I get out of the Gym, Lyra calls me:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

Her Pidgeot defeated Falkner's one. Her goal continues being getting the 8 Johto badges.

Its time to reorganize the team. Tsuchinoko despite her impressive performance goes out to make space for JuanPalomo. Sardinilla leaves too so that Eeveeto can come back. I still need to be careful not to overlevel Sabrina by more than 2 levels, so Pendulum stays in the team, trying to get as much experience as possible.

I challenge Route 6 trainers. One of them calls me trash before battling and another one has the Squirte Squad:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

Despite having Shell Smash, 4 level 53 Squirtles are no match for Pendulum.
Pendulum defeats all the trainers by himself, except one Electrode whose Explosion Sir Quag prevents with Damp.

Just like the center of Spain, the center of Kanto in this game is located in a plateau, the mesetarians that read this thread surely enjoy this fact:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

I arrive to Saffron City and explore it. In this game, Mr. Psychic instead of giving Psychic TM, is a Zen Headbutt tutor. I am not interested in it for now.

Silph building in this game has some sinister music from future Gens, can,t recognize it. However, I still can,t visit other floors and they don,t even give me an Upgrade.

Unlike in original Crystal, Copycat here has 2 Mons, the original Dodrio and a Ditto too (yes, the Ditto is a real Mon, not a doll):

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

In another house, a guy tells some real life problems:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

...a roommate.

In the fake Fight Gym, there is a new paper to read:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

It actually tells me the days in which Gym Leaders come here to train for a rematch. Unlike in vanilla Crystal, there is no Focus Band in this Gym.

I get to Route 8 in order to catch a new Mon, but....

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-18.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-19.png

...Path! That really fries me!

Route 7 in the west is accesible and has one new Mon to catch:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-20.png

Wigglytuff has increased both Defenses and HP in this game, so is now a legit wall. Bad news are that Play Rough is the only level-up Fairy move it learns, not even Dazzling Gleam.

To the north of Route 7 there is a new are named Celadon Outskirts but I won,t explore it yet.

Since there is nothing more to do around Saffron City, I have to challenge the Gym, which I will do in the next chapter.

Chapter 39. A helpful clown.

No changes to the team need to be made, so I just enter the Sabrina Gym and beat all trainers there, after which I challenge her too:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

I lead with JuanPalomo vs an Espeon. Despite having 2 less levels, Espeon is both faster and stronger than JuanPalomo, dealing more damage to Psychic than JuanPalomo does with Return.

Pendulum takes the next Psychic.

I expect Shadow Ball and switch Eeveeto in, but Espeon continues using Psychic.
Espeon uses one more Psychic and dies from Shadow Ball:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

Next is Girafarig. I am scared of what this one can do (Baton Pass a Nasty Plot to Alakazam), so I send Anisoptero. Girafarig uses Calm Mind.
Anisoptero has Specs for this battle and the Special Defense boost doesn,t save Girafarig:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

However, Sabrina has a Mr. Mime, who might be immune to Bug Buzz due to Soundproof. I send Pendulum while Mime uses Barrier.

Mr. Mime uses Baton Pass into opposing Hypno, while mine uses Calm Mind.
Opposing Hypno uses Psychic, Pendulum rises to +2.
Opposing Hypno uses another Psychic, Pendulum boosts to +3.
Opposing Hypno continues being useless, Pendulum boosts to +4.
Pendulum gets to +5.
Opposing Hypno gets a Special Defense drop, but at the same time, Pendulum eats a Sitrus Berry and gets to +6 in Special Attack.
Pendulum starts sweeping... though he is not strong enough to KO opposing one with +6 Shadow Ball.
After taking one more Psychic, Pendulum wins the Hypno duel:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Mr. Mime comes back but stupidly uses Baton Pass into Wobbuffet, who survives Shadow Ball. If Sabrina sent Wobbuffet right away, Pendulum would have died.
Pendulum finishes Wobba:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

Mr. Mime comes back again. This time it uses Barrier and gets a Special Defense drop from Shadow Ball.
Mr. Mime is smart enough this time to not pass the boosts and just uses Psychic before dying:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Alakazam remains. It doesn,t even try fighting vs Pendulum and just uses Reflect. Unlike Hypno, Wobba and Mr. Mime, it dies in 1 hit:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Sabrina gives me the badge and the Psychic TM, which Pendulum already knows. She was a little harder than Lt. Surge, but I happened to have the perfect counter to her team... and Mr. Mime helped me to avoid the death from Wobbuffet.

I leave Saffron City going to the north, to Route 5. In theory I can catch here either an evolved Wigglytuff or a Gloom, but I already have Jigglypuff and prefer catching the Vileplume from Shamouti Island, it might have some special move.

I arrive to Cerulean City, which has a remix of the RBY theme in this game. I explore the City and discover the Bicycle Shop is still open in this game. However, the poor man that works inside tells me that his branch in Goldenrod sells lots of bikes, but no one comes to Cerulean one anymore.

In the middle of the city, just like in an average Spanish city or town (especially in the north) there is a public fountain:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

I see a character development from RBY:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

...combination!

Cerulean Cave is also in this game, though its locked for now:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

After finishing exploring the city, I finish the chapter too, since I need to help at home, New Year is more important than Christmas in my house. So, next chapter will be the next year.

Chapter 40. Mining duties.

I leave Ceruleon City by Route 9. No new Mon can be caught here except Venomoth, but I already have a Venonat at the PC.
I defeat the trainers of Route 9 and also find the Flash Cannon TM, which no one in my team can learn.

After Rute 9, there is Route 10. Lots of Electric Mons appear here, but I can,t catch any of them.
I visit the Power Plant and here the complains there about the stolen Machine Part.

On my way back, I see a new Waterfall in Route 10:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

I teach Waterfall to Sir Quag and find a new cave on the top:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Sky Pillar music sounds here. There are no wild Mons, but there are trainers, that I defeat.
However, the path is eventually blocked:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

Dim Cave must have another entrance somewhere. For now, I leave it.

Back at Cerulean City, I go to the Gym and bumb into a nice and respectful guy there:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

I follow the Rocket tou Route 24, which has a remix of the Gen 1 theme. The Rocket uses Golbat, Weezing and Muk, all defeated by Pendulum.

After recovering the Machine Part, the manager of Power Plant becomes a Zap Cannon tutor. However, only Pendulum in my team learns that move, so its not needed.

And when I get out of Power Plant, Lawrence appears:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

He came searching Moltres, but found a more logical legendary instead:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Lawrence tells me that Zapdos was atracted by the Generator. And since he already has one Zapdos, he leaves this one for me, using Fly with his one to get away:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

Phew, I thought he was about to challenge me with 6 legendaries.
Under my rules, I can,t catch the Zapdos. But how to get to battle him in first place? Looking around, I find a cave, probably from Rocky Tunel its possible to get to Zapdos.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

I decide to not go to Rock Tunel for now and instead fly back to Cerulean City. From there, I go to Route 24. Here, I can catch a new Mon:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Beedrill in this game got increases in Attack, Special Defense and especially Speed, reaching 115 now. It also got Adaptability as a possible ability, though mine wasn,t lucky enough for that.

I remember one thing before going to Route 24 again and instead visit the Silph building. Due to restoring the electricity of Power Plant, I can now visit other floors of the building:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

On the second floor I receive the Up-Grade from one of the worker and also see a misterious closed door:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

On third floor I discover that the closed door is the elevator. On that floor another worker gives me a second Cherish Ball and there is another one selling some rare products:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

I buy some Dream Balls. Unfortunately, third floor is the last one I am allowed to visit.

I also visit the Magnet Train, but can,t use it yet:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

I have no idea where to get the Rail Pass... or maybe I have:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

When I get the Poke Doll from Vermilion City, Copycat gives me the Rail Pass.

I expected to somehow visiting the Magnet Tunnel while taking the Magnet Train, but looks that for now that place can,t be accessed.

What I can visit now is the Battle Factory. Here is how my battles go:
Battle 1: I get told that my first opponent will use Shuckle, Poliwrath and Heracross, so I choose Perish Trap Murkrow, Perish Trap Azumarill and Berserk Gene Pidgeot. All 3 opposing Mons end up dying to Perish Song.
Battle 2: Opponent has a Mononormal. I trade Pidgeot for Shuckle. Murkrow succesfully traps and kills Girafarig with Perish Song. However, Tagled Feet Dodrio with Berserk Gene destroys all my team, avoiding Shuckle's Encore due to the ability.

Ok, back to business. Business is Route 24. From there I go to the water part of Cerulean City and get the Berserk Gene. After that, I visit Route 25. No Mon here is available for me, but there are many trainers.
In the middle of the Nugget challenge, I see the iconic Slowpoke trainer from RBY referencing the Mew trick:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

At the end of Route 25, there is a new area, Cerulean Cape. There I scare Misty's pathetic boyfriend and visit Bill at his house. Bill tells me that he would like to see Entei, Suicune and Raikou, an impossible task for me.

I beat all the trainers at Cerulean Cape, needing surf for most of them. I also find the other entrance of Dim Cave:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

Now I can truly explore Dim Cave. And I find a very valuable TM there at last:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

Best TM for Nuzlockes. My current team doesn,t need it, but many other Mons do.

To progress further into the cave, I need Strength. Only Sir Quag learns the move, so for now he won,t have Earthquake.
I find another TM, Facade this time.

The cave is huge and in the deepest part of it I encounter a worthy rival:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-18.png

Riley tells me that he has a mine like this one, so its a good training spot. After that, battle begins:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-19.png

Riley leads with Machamp. Anisoptero escapes with U-Turn from it. I send Eeveeto while Machamp uses Bulk Up.
Eeveeto uses Moonblast. Machamp survives despite having 8 less levels and uses Dynamic Punch.

Expecting to kill Machamp with Rocky Helmet, I send Sir Quag. However, Riley heals Machamp.
Machamp doesn,t have No Guard, so it misses Dynamic Punch. Sir Quag uses Waterfall.
Machamp hits Dynamic Punch and heavily damages Sir Quag, who also damages himself.

I send Nephentes right into the next Dynamic Punch.

I switch Eeveeto in again. Machamp uses Scary Face.
Machamp hits another Dynamic Punch before dying to Moonblast:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-20.png

Nidoking i next. JuanPalomo takes Thrash.
JuanPalomo uses Return and takes another Thrash.
JuanPalomo heals with Roost and takes another Thrash.
JuanPalomo finishes Nidoking:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-21.png

The next one is very scary, Rhyperior. JuanPalomo escapes with U-Turn and Sir Quag survives Stone Edge with just 24 HP.
I don,t trust Sir Quag's Speed, so I heal him manually instead of using Recover. Rhyperior uses Close Combat.
Sir Quag uses Surf. Despite Rhyperior having 10 less levels and being at -1, it survives due to Solid Rock + Steel typing. It uses CC again.
Suddenly, Rhyperior attacks faster than Sir Quag, using another CC. Sir Quag barely survives this one, Rhyperior dies from Rocky Helmet:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-22.png

Sir Quag uses Recover at the end of the turn. Now I have to face another scary Mon, a Dragonite. Sir Quag used to have Ice Beam, but right now it works as HM slave, for this cave.
Dragonite uses Barrier. Sir Quag heals with Recover.
Dragonite uses Dragonbreath and takes Surf.

Eeveeto takes the next Dragonbreath.
Dragonite uses Safeguard. Eeveeto heals with Draining Kiss.
Dragonite reveals the last move, Aqua Tail. Eeveeto uses Draining Kiss again.
Dragonite uses Aqua Tail again and dies from Draining Kiss:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-23.png

Electivire is next. I send Sir Quag, who takes Cross Chop. Its in crit KO range.

I switch to Anisoptero. Electivire misses Screech.

Riley withdraws Electivire and sends Mamoswine, who takes Dragon Pulse.
Anisoptero finishes Mamoswine:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-24.png

Only Electivire remains. Anisoptero uses Dragon Pulse and takes Thunder.
It was my last Dragon Pulse PP, so Anisoptero uses Bug Buzz... and I discover that Electivire is actually Electric Fight in this game, he survives, but misses Thunder.
Another Bug Buzz actually finishes the battle:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-25.png

As a prize for winning, Riley gives me a Power Bracer. If he wasn,t severely underleveled, he could have been a much bigger threat that he ended up being:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-26.png

Riley leaves and goes to Battle Tower. I finish the chapter here. In the next one I will challenge Misty, though Sir Quag won,t be able to participate due to being at level 67.

Chapter 41. The House of Souls.

Before I enter Misty's Gym, Escombro (Hitmonlee) enters the team in the place of Sir Quag. Escombro is right now at level 63, even below Misty's Ace instead of surpassing it by 1 or 2 levels, like the rest of the team. I won,t train him, except with the trainers of Misty's Gym.
After beating said trainers, I challenge Misty:

¡
polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-0.png

Misty leads with Golduck, bad match-up for Escombro. JuanPalomo takes Psychic.
JuanPalomo heals with Roost but next Psychic crits.
JuanPalomo heals again, taking another Psychic.
JuanPalomo heals again, taking another Psychic.
JuanPalomo heals again, taking another Psychic.
JuanPalomo heals one last time.

Ok, this strategy for sure won,t work, so JuanPalomo uses U-Turn. I send Pendulum. This is the turn Golduck decides to use Calm Mind.

I send Anisoptero into +1 Water Pulse.

Anisoptero uses U-Turn, which Golduck barely survives. Pendulum gets critted by Psychic.
Golduck damages Pendulum with Water Pulse. Pendulum heals with Sitrus Berry and kills the duck:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-1.png

Quagsire is next. Nephentes takes the Earthquake.
Nephentes kills Quagsire with Energy Ball:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-2.png

Lapras comes in. I switch Escombro into Blizzard.
Lapras somehow survives Hi Jump Kick, but uses Rain Dance, which will probably be a problem later.
Escombro finishes Lapras:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-3.png

As I said, problems begin now. Kingler is Misty's next Mon. I need a sack here and maybe more than one Mon will die.
I sack Pendulum:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-4.png

RIP Pendulum. I am once again without Psychic resists (unless I decide to train the Squirtle I have at the PC).

I send Nephentes. Kingler is faster but doesn,t KO with Crabhammer, so it dies from Energy Ball:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-5.png

Lanturn comes. I send Eeveeto into Ice Beam. Rain ends.
Lanturn paralyzes Eeveeto with Thunderbolt, but gets the Special Attack lowered in exchange.
Lanturn uses Thunderbolt again. Eeveeto lowers his Special Attack with Moonblast again.
Lanturn heals with Recover. Eeveeto heals with Draining Kiss.
Lanturn uses Thunderbolt. Eeveeto lowers his Special Attack again with Moonblast.
Lanturn heals. Eeveeto can,t attack.
Lanturn uses Thunderbolt, Eeveeto only loses 9 HP from it but can,t attack.
Lanturn uses another Thunderbolt. Eeveeto recovers a little by using Draining Kiss.
Lanturn uses Thunderbolt, Eeveeto drops his Special Attack with Moonblast to -4 already.
Lanturn heals with Recover, Eeveeto with Draining Kiss.
Lanturn uses Thunderbolt, Eeveeto can,t move.
Lanturn uses Thunderbolt, Eeveeto can,t move.
Lanturn uses Thunderbolt, Eeveeto heals with Draining Kiss.
Lanturn uses Recover, Eeveeto can,t move.
Lanturn uses Thunderbolt, Eeveeto uses Draining Kiss.
Lanturn uses Thunderbolt, Eeveeto uses Moonblast.
Lanturn uses Recover, Eeveeto Moonblast.
Lanturn uses Thunderbolt, Eeveeto drops its Special Attack to -5.
Lanturn uses Recover, Eeveeto Draining Kiss.
Lanturn uses Thunderbolt, doing pathetic damage already. Eeveeto heals with Draining Kiss.
Lanturn uses Recover and takes Moonblast.
Lanturn uses Thunderbolt, his Special Attack goes down to -6.
Lanturn heals, Eeveeto heals to full too thanks to Draining Kiss.
Lanturn uses Thunderbolt. Eeveeto uses Dig. While Eeveeto is underground, Lanturn reveals Water Pulse as last move.

Ok, I am tired of this. While Lanturn heals, I send Escombro.
Escombro uses Earthquake and takes Ice Beam.
Escombro finishes Lanturn:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-6.png

Misty finally sends her Starmie. I switch Eeveeto into Scald.
Starmie uses Scald, Eeveeto uses Moonblast.
Starmie uses Scald, Eeveeto Moonblast. Starmie heals with Sitrus Berry.
Starmie heals, but Eeveeto uses Shadow Ball.
Starmie heals again. Eeveeto drops its Special Defense with Shadow Ball.
Starmie heals again, Eeveeto outdamages the Recover with Shadow Ball.
Starmie heals but goes down to red already.
Starmie heals, Eeveeto can,t move.
Starmie uses Scald, Eeveeto finishes the battle with Shadow Ball:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-7.png

So far, Misty has been the hardest Kanto leader. I had to sack one Mon and all my team got pretty damaged:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-8.png

I get the useless Water Pulse TM and the badge.

Even though it will probably make most of my team unable to fight Erica, I go to Rock Tunnel. I teach Sir Quag Flash to enter, since its dark.
Pokeball Factory music sounds at this place. There is a big variety of Mons and even one I can catch:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-9.png

Kanto Golem was OU in GSC, so its forbidden to use. However, Alolan Golem was not OU in SM, which is the only Gen he was allowed to play, would have solved SS OU Meta if released there. In this game he didn,t get anything new besides Rapid Spin but its still an interesting Mon to use in the future.

I enter Rock Tunnel and defeat the famous Firebreather Dick, who in HGSS changed his name to Richard.
In the middle of the Tunnel I am forced to make Sir Quag an HM slave again and teach him Strength. As a reward, I give him the Iron I find in the Strength path. I find more items, Electrizer and the Thunder Wave TM among them. There is also an Electrode disguised as item, Escombro kills him.

At the end of the Strength path, there is an exit that brings me to Zapdos:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-10.png

I decide not to kill Zapdos, I like legendary birds.

I then finish the Rock Tunnel, defeating the few trainers that are there. The south of Route 10 offers me a Volt Switch TM right away. I also defeat the 3 trainers of the route.

I enter Lavender Town. At the Pokemon Center, a boy tells me that the Radio Tower still doesn,t broadcast despite the Power Plant working.
Before going to the Radio Tower, I enter the House of Souls, there I start speaking to people, until one is not an ordinary woman...

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-11.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-12.png

...the Elite Four.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-13.png

Agatha says that the Mon could not be here, since Mr. Fuji placed graves elsewhere after Radio Tower took over.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-14.png

...the tower!

But he is pacifist, which is a reason for Agatha to mock him:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-15.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-16.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-17.png

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-18.png

...trainer can do!

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-19.png

Agatha leads with Gengar. It misses Will-o-wisp vs Anisoptero and takes a crit Dragon Pulse.
Due to Speed Boost, Anisoptero is now faster than Gengar and finishes it:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-20.png

Cursed Body activated and disables Dragon Pulse. Crobat is the next Mon Agatha sends. Anisoptero escapes with U-Turn and I send JuanPalomo into Air Slash.
Crobat is faster and heavily damages JuanPalomo with Poison Jab, taking Return.

I send Sir Quag, getting poisoned by Poison Jab.
Crobat flinches Sir Quag with Air Slash.

Eeveeto takes the next Air Slash.

Anisoptero takes Poison Jab and gets poisoned too. This already looks very bad.
Anisoptero finishes Crobat with Dragon Pulse:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-21.png

Midreavus is next. Anisoptero escapes with U-Turn, I send Nephentes into Power Gem.
Then Misdreavus surpries me with Flamethrower, almost killing Nephentes, while avoiding Sleep Powder:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-22.png

Escombro takes the next Flamethrower.
Escombro Knocks Eviolite and takes a lot of damage from Dazzling Gleam.
Escombro kills Misdreavus:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-23.png

The moment of sacking a Mon arrives when Agatha sends Alolan Marowak. Escombro knocks his Thick Club at least:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-24.png

RIP Escombro. Its surprising he lasted this long, being as frail as he is.

I send JuanPalomo. He uses Roost and takes a weak Fire Punch, without Thick Club, Marowak can,t hit hard.
JuanPalomo heals again and is burned by Fire Punch.
JuanPalomo damages Marowak with Fly and is hit by another Fire Punch.
JuanPalomo heals with Roost, but Marowak crits Fire Punch.
JuanPalomo heals again and is hit by Fire Punch.
Marowak survives the next Fly in red and uses Fire Punch again.
JuanPalomo heals with Roost and takes another Fire Punch.
JuanPalomo heals with Roost and takes another Fire Punch.
JuanPalomo heals one last time and takes another Fire Punch.
JuanPalomo kills Marowak but Cursed Body activates on Fly:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-25.png

Agatha sends her ace Gengar. I have no switch-in for this. I therefore sack Nephentes.

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-26.png

RIP Nephentes. This battle is really hard.

I send Eeveeto. Gengar uses Will-o-wisp and takes Shadow Ball.
Gengar activates Quick Claw next turn and crits with Shadow Ball, surviving Eeveeto's Shadow Ball.
Agatha heals Gengar, but Eeveeto drops his Special Defense.
Gengar uses Shadow Ball and finally dies:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-27.png

But the battle is not over yet:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-28.png

Agatha is right. She has a very scary Arbok I have no switch-in for. I send Sir Quag, who dies to poison after taking Sludge Bomb:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-29.png

RIP Sir Quag. If Crobat didn,t hax him, he could have survived this battle.

I send JuanPalomo and heal him with Full Restore, taking a Sludge Bomb.
JuanPalomo uses Return and is paralyzed by Glare.
However, JuanPalomo refuses to die and manages to attack next turn, killing the evil snake:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-30.png

^JuanPalomo charging towards Arbok.

This battle was quite tragic and almost ended in complete disaster:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-31.png

For murdering half of my team, Agatha gives me the Shadow Claw TM. At least the cemetery is right here, so Nephentes, Escombro and Sir Quag can be buried quickly.

Before finishing the chapter, I speak to Mr. Fuji. He doesn,t say anything relevant, but he is shown to be blocking stairs:

polishedcrystal-3.0.0-beta-8220a77e-32.png
