[SET COMMENTS]
Mega Pinsir is an effective wallbreaker on hyper offense teams but faces stiff competition from the likes of Mega Garchomp, Mega Scizor, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Charizard X. However, it retains a valuable niche in being able to revenge kill Pokemon like Mega Lopunny, Rillaboom, and Hawlucha, which are otherwise massive threats to hyper offense. Swords Dance coupled with Aerilate-boosted Frustration allows Mega Pinsir to break through bulkier foes such as Toxapex, Ferrothorn, and Mega Scizor. Close Combat tears through Heatran, Excadrill, and Melmetal while dealing significant damage to Corviknight. Quick Attack boosted by Aerilate can pick off common threats to hyper offense, such as Mega Lopunny, Hawlucha, and Rillaboom. Hyper Cutter is the chosen ability prior to Mega Evolution because it blocks Intimidate from Landorus-T.
As Mega Pinsir is seen mainly on hyper offense, suicide leads such as Excadrill and Landorus-T are vital partners. Excadrill is especially good at this, as it can deny the opponent's Stealth Rock, which would otherwise cripple Mega Pinsir severely. Additionally, teammates that can weaken Zapdos, Corviknight, and Rotom-W are important, such as Gyarados, Garchomp, and Serperior. Mega Pinsir's ability to offensively check Mega Lopunny and Hawlucha, two common threats to hyper offense teams, is extremely valued by its teammates as well. Mega Pinsir also tears through bulkier balance Pokemon like Toxapex, Clefable, and Gliscor, which can be helpful for teammates such as Hawlucha and Kommo-o. In particular, Serperior appreciates the pressure that Mega Pinsir applies to Heatran and Corviknight.

Other Options
=============
Earthquake may seem nice to smack Steel-types without the Defense drop caused by Close Combat, but it leaves Mega Pinsir walled by Corviknight. Additionally, Stone Edge to take down Zapdos sounds interesting, but it is simply not better than any of the listed options and leaves Mega Pinsir walled by most Steel-types.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Electric-types**: Zapdos, Rotom-W, and Tapu Koko all resist Mega Pinsir's STAB Frustration and threaten to deal heavy damage in return or, in the case of Rotom-W, threaten to cripple Mega Pinsir with Will-O-Wisp.
**Physically Bulky Pokemon**: Defensive behemoths such as Skarmory and Hippowdon can withstand Mega Pinsir's assault and can use this opportunity to set up entry hazards or Toxic poison it. Corviknight can stomach even boosted Close Combats and OHKO in return with Brave Bird after Mega Pinsir has dropped its Defense with Close Combat.
**Revenge Killers**: Faster Pokemon that are not weak to Quick Attack do well at revenge killing Mega Pinsir, such as Choice Scarf Landorus-T, Tapu Koko, and Zeraora. All of these Pokemon, especially Landorus-T, can be susceptible to boosted Quick Attacks after enough chip, though.
**Stealth Rock**: Mega Pinsir's crippling quadruple weakness to Stealth Rock greatly cuts into the number of times it is able to hit the field.
**Faster Priority**: Strong priority moves such as Fake Out from Mega Medicham and Mega Lopunny can wear down Mega Pinsir quickly. Ash-Greninja's Water Shuriken is also noteworthy, as it will go before Quick Attack.
