NU Omastar

[OVERVIEW]

Shell Smash Omastar is one of the most fearsome sweepers in the tier. If it's able to boost, its insanely powerful Meteor Beam and higher Speed than Choice Scarf Rotom-C, NU's most common revenge killer, make it quite difficult to manage. Unfortunately, Omastar's defensive typing and special bulk leave it leave it few chances to safely boost, and its reliance on Meteor Beam against bulky Water-types means it can often struggle to break beat defensive teams; after its first use, Meteor Beam can be exploited by Protect or switching. +2 Omastar is still slower than admittedly niche Choice Scarf users like Tauros and Heliolisk.

Boosted Meteor Beam lets Omastar muscle past Water-types like Mantine and Vaporeon. Ice Beam allows Omastar to hit Grass- and Dragon-types as well as Toxicroak. Surf is the preferred Water-type move for its consistency, although Hydro Pump can be used for the brave player who wants better damage on specially defensive tanks like Sylveon and Copperajah. A Timid nature is necessary for outspeeding Choice Scarf Rotom-C.

Due to Omastar's all-or-nothing nature as a sweeper with essentially no defensive utility, it is commonly seen on offensive teams geared towards overwhelming the opponent. Silvally-Ground threatens Electric-types and weakens Grass-types with its Flame Charge or U-turn. Silvally-Ground also threatens special walls like Sylveon, Copperajah, and Snorlax. Salazzle easily takes advantage of Grass-types like Tsareena and Vileplume while luring in bulky Water-types and crippling them with Toxic or Knock Off, making Omastar's job far easier. Other support options include entry hazards from dedicated leads like Froslass and Kabutops and screens from setters like Grimmsnarl and Aurorus.

Other Options
====

Omastar has an amazing utility movepool with Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Knock Off, making it a solid suicide lead, although it is often outclassed by its fossilized friend Kabutops. Sticking with offensive sets, Omastar could use White Herb to restore its defenses after Shell Smash, although this means replacing Meteor Beam with the far weaker Ancient Power or Earth Power. Because the most reliable counterplay to Meteor Beam is through switching or using Protect, Omastar could use Substitute over Ice Beam. Omastar can safely charge Meteor Beam while hiding behind a Substitute, too.

Checks and Counters
====

**Special Walls**: Specially defensive foes such as Scrafty, Sylveon, and Copperajah can often tank one hit from Omastar and KO it in return. If Omastar has already used Meteor Beam, bulky Water-types like Mantine, Araquanid, and Vaporeon can easily beat it.

**Specialized Revenge Killers**: Very fast Choice Scarf users like Tauros, Heliolisk, and Starmie can outspeed Omastar even after its boost. Protect Speed Boost Ninjask also works. Priority move users like Toxicroak and Grimmsnarl can also pick off a weakened Omastar.

**Offensive Pressure**: Without boosts, Omastar is quite an underwhelming presence, meaning that offensively pressuring Omastar with the threat of super effective attacks or powerful special attacks can prevent it from accomplishing much.

[OVERVIEW]

Omastar is a setup sweeper that makes use of the highly coveted Shell Smash to quickly become one of the most fearsome Pokemon in the tier. Bolstered with an insanely powerful Meteor Beam, Omastar becomes quite difficult to manage if its able to get that Shell Smash off. Most importantly, though, +2 Omastar outspeeds Choice Scarf Rotom-C, the most common revenge killer in NU. Unfortunately Omastar's defensive typing and special bulk leave it quite vulnerable before it can leave it few chances to safely boost, and its reliance on Meteor Beam to break bulky Water-types means it can often struggle to break defensive teams should Meteor Beam get baited out with a Protect of a switch, or if its needed to break a different target. Even with boosted speed and a Timid nature, Omastar can still get outpaced by fast, although niche, Choice Scarf users like Tauros and Heliolisk. These fast Choice Scarf users are not as common as Rotom-C, which is slower than Timid Omastar, this along with the lack of strong priority moves in the tier makes Omastar a very potent sweeper.

Boosted Meteor Beam lets Omastar muscle past Water-types like Mantine and Vaporeon that take on its other attacks. Ice Beam allows Omastar to hit Grass- and Dragon-types as well as Toxicroak. With a Timid Nature nature, Omastar can outspeed Rotom-C after a Shell Smash, making it quite difficult to revenge-KO revenge kill despite the loss in damage from forgoing a Modest Nature.

Due to Omastar's all-or-nothing nature as an offensive sweeper with essentially no defensive utility, it is commonly seen on offensive teams geared towards overwhelming the opponent. Silvally-Ground makes for a great partner as it threatens Electric-types and weakens Grass-types with its Flame Charge or U-Turn U-turn. Salazzle easily takes advantage of Grass-types like Tsareena and Vileplume for Omastar, while luring in bulky Water-types and crippling them with Toxic or a Knock Off, making Omastar's job far easier. A point about general offensive support, i.e. entry hazards from Froslass and dual screens from Grimmsnarl, would work here.

Sticking with offensive sets, Omastar could use White Herb to restore its defenses after a Shell Smash, although this means Meteor Beam would have to be replaced by Ancient Power or Earth Power, both of which are significantly weaker and take away from Omastar's wallbreaking power. Because the most reliable counterplay to Meteor Beam is to either Protect or switch against it, Omastar could use Substitute over Ice Beam to punish these options. Omastar can safely charge Meteor Beam while hiding behind a Substitute, too.

**Strong Speed Control**: Very fast Choice Scarf users, like Tauros, Heliolisk, and Starmie can outspeed Omastar even after its boost. Ninjask after a Protect can outspeed a +2 Omastar thanks to Speed Boost. Priority users such as Toxicroak with Vacuum Wave or Sucker Punch, or Grimmsnarl can also pick off a weakened Omastar. Priority move users like Toxicroak and Grimmsnarl can also pick off a weakened Omastar.

Maybe add a section too to just "Offensive Pressure" because one of Omastar's biggest issues is safely setting up. Addressing how denying it those chances is one of the better ways to prevent it from sweeping would be good to do.
