Hi everyone! This thread is meant to host a thread to introduce, schedule, and log NeverUsed room events. These events range from tournament nights and team battles, to community builds and socratic seminars. These are generally hosted by the NU room staff team, although other members of the community can choose to host these with moderator approval, should they get permission beforehand.

Events:

Team Battles (frequently called teambats) are classic NU events. Players who join are split into two teams, who then have to build a team under a time limit, to then battle it out with the other team. Usually, there is some sort of special meta, rule, or restriction involved. For example, there could be a GSC NU teambat, or a teambat where both teams are required to fit Slurpuff on their teams. These usually take thirty to forty-five minutes in length, depending on the circumstances.
A Community Build is a hosted event which aims to build a team around a particular Pokemon, core, or set, all with the NU community. Usually, choices are made through voting. However, this all depends on the host. These events take upwards of an hour and a half due to discussion and making decisions.
A similar event to the RoA Tournament nights, Tournament Nights aim to showcase not just current generation NU, but past generation metagames and OM metagames as well. Each night would have 3-5 tournaments, with one of current generation (CG), past generation (PG), and Other Metagames (OMs), with room for extras.
Socratic Seminars are essentially scheduled metagame discussions. They usually have a singular host that prepares a topic and questions for the seminar’s discussion. Each question will have a certain amount of time discussed. After the time ends, the host will then move on the community to the next topic. These can be anywhere from an hour to two hours, depending on the topic at hand.

Hosting:

Typically, these events will be hosted at the discretion of room staff; you can ask staff if they want to host an event, but do not pester them. Otherwise, you will be punished. If you yourself wish to host an event, please contact an NU room owner or moderator (a list of which can be found here.) We will then determine whether or not you are a suitable host and set you up with a moderator to help with hosting. Please understand that you may not be selected as suitable to host. Don't complain if this is the case, sometimes it just comes down to moderator availability.

At the end of each event, you must post here with a summary of the event. Here is a format for each of these events:

Questions:
Question #1: What are some Pokemon, if any, that you have found overwhelming or unhealthy? Why?
Question #2: For better or for worse, how has Pokemon Home changed NU thus far?
Question #3: What are your thoughts on the state of team building in NU at this moment? Do some Pokemon feel like they are necessary to have on every team?, Is there a Pokemon in particular you always seem to be checking? etc.
Question #4: As it stands right now, do you believe the metagame is heading in a good direction? Why or why not?
Consensus of Each Question:

Question #1: Slurpuff is without a doubt the most banworthy Pokemon currently. Although it's not unbeatable, the affect it has both in the builder and on the battle field makes it clear that it isn't a healthy presence for the tier. Haunter is another Pokemon that was brought into question, as it has very few viable checks. Choice Specs Shadow Ball or Sludge Wave pretty much leaves not much to be done in the builder, but rather a lot to be done on the battle field when it comes to playing around these moves. This would be something to be looked into AFTER a Slurpuff ban, though, as the meta could change by then.
Question #2: Home pretty much pushed Slurpuff over the edge, giving it back access to Belly Drum. Besides that, though, the newfound access to Defog has been a huge benefit to the tier. Instead of being stuck with basically Unfezant, options such as Rotom-Fan, Mantine, and Skuntank, are now on the table as well. Toxic is also another returning move, which has been big for Mantine, Togedemaru, Mawile, Rhydon, and pretty much most Pokemon released before generation 8. Other returning features include Knock Off, and some minor abilities / moveset changes to Pokemon such as Lanturn and Vikavolt respectively. Overall, it seems that the meta has gotten a lot better since Pokemon Home's release, even despite the fact that it has brought some annoying Pokemon like Slurpuff and Swoobat into the spotlight.
Question #3: Team building is a bit restrictive in the current meta. There are tons of offensive threats that require at least a single check to be on your team, so it really limits the diversity of the teams you can have. However, despite this, team building somehow still feels great. Although teams aren't super diverse, there is still a lot of room to have diverse teams and to play around with Pokemon and archetypes that aren't necessarily the standard. Also, Heavy-Duty Boots is a crazy item.
Question #4: The meta is heading in a great direction. Besides some outliers, like Slurpuff, it seems that we have a really solid start to a metagame going on here. Most of the issues are solveable by a ban or two, and it doesn't appear that we would end up with a meta like SM NU where everything is broken and it feels really shitty to build for. However, it should be noted that we are really early on in this meta. Things could change at the drop of a pin, especially with DLCs coming in the near future. As it stands, though, the meta seems to be only going upward from here, especially thanks to Pokemon Home's release.
Seriously, though, ban Slurpuff.
