UU Nidoqueen

:bw/nidoqueen:

[OVERVIEW]

Nidoqueen is an exceptional wallbreaker and capable entry hazard setter because Life Orb and Sheer Force let it 2HKO the entire UU metagame bar Chansey and Slowking. Its solid defensive typing also lets it check Pokemon such as Nihilego and compress a Ground-type immunity for a team to discourage common Electric-types such as Zeraora and Rotom-H from using Volt Switch. Unfortunately, Nidoqueen's overreliance on its Life Orb leaves it susceptible to Knock Off, which Zeraora can take advantage of when Nidoqueen attempts to pivot into it. A low Speed stat gives Nidoqueen an undesirable matchup versus faster-paced teams, and although Nidoqueen sports a quality defensive typing, it is still very weak to common Pokemon in the tier such as Mamoswine and Alakazam. These struggles sting a bit more because Nidoqueen has no form of reliable recovery, meaning it is worn down pretty quickly throughout a match.

[SET]
name: Offensive Entry Hazard Setter
move 1: Stealth Rock / Toxic Spikes
move 2: Earth Power
move 3: Sludge Wave
move 4: Fire Blast
item: Life Orb
ability: Sheer Force
nature: Modest / Timid
evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Nidoqueen is a reliable setter of entry hazards because of its above average bulk, ability to force switches, and good matchup versus hazard removers such as Salamence, Skarmory, and Rotom-H. Stealth Rock is the better hazard choice for this set, as it provides excellent utility to just about any team, although Toxic Spikes is an option if the team has another Stealth Rock user. Earth Power and Sludge Wave are mandatory, powerful STAB moves that OHKO bulkier Pokemon such as Hatterene, Tangrowth, and Incineroar. Fire Blast is an excellent coverage move and the best pick for the last slot, as it easily OHKOes Scizor, almost OHKOes Amoonguss, and cleanly 2HKOes Celesteela. Modest is the preferred nature because it grants Nidoqueen exceptional power and still lets it outspeed most of its primary targets, although a Timid nature can be used to outspeed Jolly Tapu Bulu, Timid Volcanion, and Timid Toxtricity. However, a Timid nature will make Nidoqueen noticeably weaker, missing out on benchmarks such as the guaranteed 2HKO on defensive Kommo-o.

Tapu Bulu pairs very well with Nidoqueen, as it appreciates Nidoqueen taking care of Amoonguss and Tangrowth and in return can check Water-types like Azumarill, Slowking, and Keldeo. Its Grassy Terrain also provides a bit of recovery to Nidoqueen. Wallbreakers such as Azumarill, Terrakion, Lycanroc-D, and Bisharp make good teammates because they also appreciate Nidoqueen's good matchup versus Amoonguss, Skarmory, and Tangrowth. Azumarill and Bisharp benefit Nidoqueen because of their good matchups versus Pokemon that check it, such as Slowking and Chansey. Azumarill and Bisharp can also use Knock Off to remove Slowking's Heavy-Duty Boots or Chansey's Eviolite to make it easier for Nidoqueen or other teammates to pressure these Pokemon. Ironically, Slowking is a decent teammate for Nidoqueen because it checks many Pokemon that threaten Nidoqueen, such as Keldeo. Slowking also can use Teleport to bring Nidoqueen in safely, as can Volt Switch pivots like Zeraora, which can pressure Keldeo and Alakazam and appreciates Nidoqueen's good matchup versus Amoonguss and Tangrowth once again; Zeraora can also lure in these Pokemon using Volt Switch. Rotom-H and Rotom-W are both Volt Switch users that can also check Mamoswine, and the latter has the added benefit of checking Krookodile. Nidoqueen pairs well with almost any Kommo-o set, as Nidoqueen can break through Primarina and Hatterene to help it succeed. Defensive Kommo-o sets using Stealth Rock also can let Nidoqueen run Toxic Spikes.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Nidoqueen can run a bulkier set holding Black Sludge, as it can somewhat take advantage of its bulk and defensive typing to better check Zeraora, Scizor, and non-Earthquake Terrakion and do a better job setting up entry hazards, but this set struggles because it is somewhat weak. Taunt does a decent job of giving utility Pokemon a hard time, but unfortunately it is still pretty ineffective against Nidoqueen's best checks, Slowking and Chansey. Substitute can be a viable option to ease prediction on a forced switch. Protect also helps prediction by letting Nidoqueen scout Choice-locked Pokemon it is weak to such as Krookodile, Victini, and Jirachi. Lastly, Thunderbolt can be used over Fire Blast to hit Slowking better as well as a Gyarados using Dragon Dance, but it misses out on OHKOing Scizor, doesn't hit Amoonguss super effectively, and is notably weaker versus Celesteela.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Psychic-types**: Psychic-types such as Alakazam, and Slowking all check Nidoqueen. For instance, the former outspeeds and can easily OHKO it with its Psychic STAB move, while Slowking can take multiple hits and weaken Nidoqueen with Scald or shift the momentum with Future Sight.

**Chansey**: Chansey is the single best answer to Nidoqueen, as it can consistently switch into its attacks without worry, recover any damage away, and chip Nidoqueen with Seismic Toss.

**Water-types**: The majority of Water-types in UU can outspeed and OHKO Nidoqueen with ease. For example, Keldeo can outspeed Nidoqueen and OHKO it with Scald, while Choice Band Crawdaunt OHKOes it with Aqua Jet. Even Tentacruel can force out Nidoqueen if Nidoqueen is worn down enough.

**Faster Revenge Killers**: Faster, powerful Pokemon such as Lycanroc-D and Krookodile can outspeed and OHKO Nidoqueen, especially if it is worn down enough. UU is full of Pokemon that can do so, like Mamoswine and Kyurem.

[OVERVIEW]

- Nidoqueen has access to the Life Orb and Sheer Force combo, making it a remarkably strong attacker and letting it 2HKO most the metagame bar Chansey. The lack of recoil from Life Orb is really useful as well
- Elite coverage options as well as amazing STABS means it can threaten common bulkier mons like Tangrowth, Hatterene, and Primarina, meaning it can punch holes for setup sweepers like Gyarados (all of the listed examples die to Sludge Wave, so they aren't the best ones to point out for coverage)
- As a result of its frightening power and coverage Nidoqueen's matchup against balanced teams is incredible
- Solid bulk makes it a more reliable attacker and can somewhat offset its poor Speed matchup versus offensive teams
- Has great utility in its ground-typing, providing an electric immunity and letting it block Rotom-H + Zera volts. On top of this its Poison-typing let it absorb tspikes. Overall its typing is solid and lets it check mons like Nihilego (The Tspikes part is pretty irrelevant considering how uncommon they are atm.)
- aforementioned low Speed can really work against it at times, and seeing as Nidoqueen runs a Modest nature to get the necessary power to wallbreak it can find itself taking a hit often before retaliating when facing more offensive teams (The latter part of this is just not true, Timid Nidoqueen still breaks things fine and outspeeding Jolly Bulu / Timid Toxtricity can be useful in a pinch. Also Nido taking a hit against offensive teams isn't particularly bad, its not going to be on the field very often to begin with because those teams will have an easier time pressuring it. It's not particularly frail either.)
- Because of its low Speed Nidoqueen is much harder to get in against offensive teams (We know, it's been brought up 3 times, remove this.)
- Very reliant on Life Orb, meaning it is prone to one of the most common attacks in Knock Off (Mention how this leads to Nido often losing its LO from Zeraora.)
- Nidoqueen does have a good defensive typing, but that defensive typing still leaves it weak to some pretty common attacks in Psyshock, Ice Beam, Liquidation (Instead of naming moves, name some common mons that force it out, i.e. Latias. Also as an additional nitpick, I wouldn't consider any of these moves to be particularly common, especially not Liquidation or Psyshock. This section just reads wonky.)
- 0 form of recovery leaves it extremely prone to being worn down, although a Toxic immunity helps here a little bit (This part is fluff and can be removed.)
- Nidoqueen is still amazing at what it does despite these flaws (Fluff)
- Because of its fantastic coverage, good typing, and support options Nidoqueen is a very good option for many balanced and offensive teams as it role compresses hazards, power, coverage, an electric immunity, and overall bulk into one slot (I mean Nidoqueen isn't that bulky, and in non-offensive matchups it would for sure prefer keeping itself healthy [even then it probably would]. Either move this up or just remove it.

[SET]
name: Life Orb
move 1: Toxic Spikes / Stealth Rock Stealth Rock / Toxic Spikes (swap these)
move 2: Earth Power
move 3: Sludge Wave
move 4: Fire Blast / Flamethrower / Ice Beam (The power decrease compared to Blast isn't worth it)
item: Life Orb
ability: Sheer Force
nature: Modest / Timid (see above comment re: Timid)
evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Paragraph 1
Describe what the moves on the set do, as well as alternative options. Describe other aspects of the set such as the EVs and nature/item.

- Max special attack and speed is standard. A Modest nature is used over timid to get the full breaking power and because nidoqueen doesnt really outspeed anything that it usually has success against (tangrowth primarina etc.) with a timid nature (First, this should all be moved to after the move descriptions. The former part of this is fluff and can be removed. Also, say why you would use Timid over Modest here (Jolly Bulu, Timid Toxtricity) but list some of the negatives.)
- The first slot is team dependent; Nidoqueen on the whole is a reliable hazards setter because of its bulk, ability to force switches, and good matchup versus some hazard setters like defensive Kommo-o. (Earthquake Kommo-o 2HKOs you. Also, instead of saying that it has a good matchup vs other hazard setters (which is just not true), point out how many common forms of removal (Salamence, Rotom-H) cannot freely remove on it.)
- Nidoqueen has access to Toxic Spikes and can make for a very good setter because it helps wear down chansey as well, and is the preferred option the majority of the time because it can help out teammates by pressuring many bulkier mons that want to switch in like Chansey before natural cure and putting them on a timer (This part reads pretty weird. Just say that it can be an alternate option if you already have a rocker and that again, it's hard to remove on.
- Earth Power and Sludge Wave are mandatory STABs to OHKO Hatt, Tangrowth, Incineroar, etc also hits pretty much everything that is neutral to it hard
- Fire Blast 2HKOs Celsteela and Amoonguss. Flamethrower can be used because of PP + accuracy and 2HKOs Amoong still but falls short of the 2HKO on steela and never does when leech seed is taken into account.
- Ice Beam can OHKO Mence if that's a huge issue, otherwise is kind of limited in its utility (It also hits Latias, Kommo-O, and Amoonguss.)
Add the line on Modest vs Timid here

- Thunderbolt is an option over the third slot too to still hit steela and OHKO a Gyara trying to set up but has little use out of this (move to oo)
- Set is very straightforward for the most part however, just launching attacks and setting up hazards
- Nidoqueen forces a lot of switches, take advantage of this to get hazards up
- Because of its poor matchup versus offensive teams and general tendency to get worn down the most effective way to bring in Nidoqueen is through a Volt Switch or Teleport from Slowking etc. (This is all fluff, you don't need to describe how to use the mon. The last part can be moved into teammates though.)

Paragraph 2
Describe some teammates that would be a good idea to pair with this Pokemon to help it fulfil its role.

- Tapu Bulu is an excellent Nidoqueen teammate; it appreciates Nidoqueen removing Tangrowth and Amoonguss for it while in return Tapu Bulu removes Azumarill and Slowking which can otherwise check Nidoqueen (Azumarill offensively, Slowking defensively) (They check it either way). Nidoqueen can also dent Amoonguss and Celesteela a bit which helps Tapu Bulu out as well (Dent implies that Nido doesn't do much to them, which is simply not the case). The two also form a very effective dual breaker core that can pressure and overwhelm the opponent easily due to their great power and coverage options.
- Tapu Bulu also serves as a solid Keldeo switchin (Move this up with the above paragraph)
- Tapu Bulu setting up Grassy Terrain is excellent for Nidoqueen too as Nidoqueen lacks any form of recovery. Although a little more niche in terms of actual in-game utility, the two have solid defensive synergy to an extent, meaning they can pivot into attacks for each other occasionally and pressure the opponent. (To me this entire part on Bulu reads too long and can easily be shortened. Also, once you do, move it up with the first paragraph.)
- Azumarill is a good teammate too. Banded Azumarill also forms a dual breaker core with Nidoqueen which can overwhelm the opponent and appreciates Nidoqueen removing Tangrowth. Azumarill with a Band also has the necessary power to break through some things that check Nidoqueen like Chansey. Azu can also have Nidoqueen break for it early game so it can use BD later on (You don't need to specify CB Azu specifically, BD Knocking its eviolite is fine enough too.)
- Slowking is an awesome teammate for Nidoqueen because it checks a variety of threats that can outspeed Nidoqueen like Latias and can use slow teleport to get Nidoqueen in safely. Future Sight + Nidoqueen STABs is also very overwhelming for teams at times
- Gyarados is a good teammate because Nidoqueen is a pain for a lot of mons that could halt a Gyarados sweep like Skarmory and Tangrowth if not running Bounce (Non-Bounce Gyarados is pretty awful, just don't mention it.)
- Bisharp dispatches Slowking and Chansey very effectively and works well with Nidoqueen to overwhelm opponents through sheer breaking power
- Zeraora can use Volt Switch to chip at the opponent and bring in Nidoqueen safely and appreciates Nidoqueen giving Amoonguss, Incineroar, and Tangrowth trouble (Just remove Incineroar, it's really not a problem for Zera at all.)
- Most Kommo-o sets benefit from Nidoqueens presence as Nidoqueen can soften up teams by pressuring Primarina and Hatterene (Kommo-O can also break past Chansey, Nidoqueen's only counter. Also, it can free up running TSpikes on Nido if running Rocks.)
- Rotom-H is a Mamoswine switchin and can use Volt Switch to bring in Nidoqueen safely
- Nidoqueen will always be a good teammate to setup sweepers and win conditions by virtue of the fact that it is a breaker with tremendous power and coverage; it can weaken opposing teams with ease as well as apply pressure on the opponent when it comes in against Pokemon such as Tangrowth and because of this setup sweepers enjoy how Nidoqueen weakens opposing teams early on (Fluff, you give a smaller example of this already with Gyara)

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

- Nidoqueen used to run a bulkier set with Black Sludge to take advantage of its bulk and typing while also being able to set up hazards. This set struggles in the meta because it's much weaker and can make Nidoqueen more of a liability than asset on your team. (I've used Defensive Nidoqueen and honestly its not bad. The main problem comes from how you could be using LO instead (and would want it in 9/10 of matchups. With that said, I haven't had a matchup yet where it feels truly useless or a liability.)
- Taunt is a decently effective means of shutting down bulkier mons that give Nidoqueen issues, only issue is usually finding a slot for it
- Physical Nidoqueen may seem like a good idea because of its higher attack stat but its lower BP physical attacks mean this set falls short in terms of damage the vast majority of the time no
- Superpower can seem like a way of pressuring chansey but actually falls short of even 2HKOing no
- Surf can OHKO Rhyperior which somehow survives an Earth Power from full too niche
- A Choice Scarf can make Nidoqueen a passable revenge killer against weakened mons, but overall is somewhat weak and doesn't OHKO enough things too niche

Checks and Counters

**Psychic-types**: Psychic-types such as Latias, Alakazam, and Slowking all check Nidoqueen. The former two outspeed and easily OHKO with their Psychic STAB, while Slowking can take a hit and weaken Nidoqueen with a Scald or shift the momentum with Future Sight. However, it is worth noting that all of the Pokemon mentioned have trouble switching into a Sludge Wave. (Calm + SpDef invested Slowking actually switches into non-Tbolt Nido quite well.)

**Chansey**: Chansey is essentially the only Pokemon that can freely switch into Nidoqueen's attacks without worry. Chansey easily stomachs anything Nidoqueen can throw at it, can recover any damage away, and can then chip Nidoqueen with Seismic Toss.

**Water-types**: Water-types that can outspeed Nidoqueen by being faster or having priority can OHKO or take a big chunk out of Nidoqueen's health. For instance, a Keldeo can outspeed Nidoqueen and OHKO with Scald, while a Choice Band Crawdaunt outright OHKOes with Aqua Jet. (All of them OHKO it except Quagsire (more threatened by Queen than Queen is by it) and Tentacruel.)

In general, this analysis was pretty long but I could see a lot of issues to point out. Stuff like the team options can be expanded upon. There also isn't a single mention of Terrakion or Duskenroc, and help for those mons can be mentioned in team options. Points about Azu / Bisharp can be condensed into wallbreakers, Rotom-H / Zera into pivots, etc. If this seemed long that's because it is, there was a lot of points to go over here. Tell me when you've implemented this and I'll look again.

[SET COMMENTS]
Paragraph 1
Describe what the moves on the set do, as well as alternative options. Describe other aspects of the set such as the EVs and nature/item.

- The first slot is team dependent; Nidoqueen on the whole is a reliable hazards setter because of its decent bulk, how many switches it forces, and ability to discourage hazard removers such as Salamence, Skarmory, and Rotom-H from defogging because of its solid matchup versus them
- Nidoqueen can also run Toxic Spikes to wear down opposing teams if the team already has a stealth rock user, which once again is complimented by its ability to pressure opposing hazard removers
- Earth Power and Sludge Wave are mandatory STABs to OHKO Hatt, Tangrowth, Incineroar, etc also hits pretty much everything that is neutral to it hard
- Fire Blast 2HKOs Celsteela and Amoonguss
- Ice Beam can hit Salamence, Latias, Amoonguss, and Kommo-o for respectable damage, but leaves Nidoqueen struggling versus Celesteela
- A Modest nature is preferred over timid to get the full breaking power and because Nidoqueen outspeeds most of the Pokemon it handles anyways such as Tangrowth Primarina etc.
- A Timid nature is an option to get the jump on Timid Tapu Bulu and Timid Toxtricity while still hitting a lot of the things Nidoqueen succeeds against hard. However the overall power dropoff is noticeable and the decision to outspeed both of these pokemon is very team specific considering Adamant Tapu Bulu is more common and Toxtricity is still a generally rarity in UU

Paragraph 2
Describe some teammates that would be a good idea to pair with this Pokemon to help it fulfil its role.

- Tapu Bulu is an excellent Nidoqueen teammate; it appreciates Nidoqueen removing Tangrowth and Amoonguss for it while in return Tapu Bulu removes Azumarill and Slowking which can otherwise check Nidoqueen. Nidoqueen can also do solid damage to Amoonguss and Celesteela a bit which helps Tapu Bulu out as well. The two also form a very effective dual breaker core that can pressure and overwhelm the opponent easily due to their great power and coverage options. Tapu Bulu also serves as a solid Keldeo switchin. Tapu Bulu setting up Grassy Terrain is excellent for Nidoqueen too as Nidoqueen lacks any form of recovery. Tapu Bulu and Nidoqueen also have solid defensive synergy. (this part is way too long; you can cut down on it a bit by removing the third and fourth sentences. also i wouldn't say nidoqueen does "a bit" of solid damage to amoonguss or celesteela, fire blast still does a lot.)
- Other wallbreakers can pair well with Nidoqueen as well. Azumarill is a good teammate too. Banded Azumarill also forms a dual breaker core with Nidoqueen which can overwhelm the opponent and appreciates Nidoqueen removing Tangrowth. Azumarill can break through some things that check Nidoqueen like Chansey either through overwhelming it or knocking off its eviolite; Azu can also have Nidoqueen break for it early game so it can use BD later on. Bisharp dispatches Slowking and Chansey very effectively and works well with Nidoqueen to overwhelm opponents through sheer breaking power
- Slowking is an awesome teammate for Nidoqueen because it checks a variety of threats that can outspeed Nidoqueen like Latias and can use slow teleport to get Nidoqueen in safely. Future Sight + Nidoqueen STABs is also very overwhelming for teams at times
- Gyarados is a good teammate because Nidoqueen is a pain for a lot of mons that could halt a Gyarados sweep like Skarmory (both this and the one above feel like very specific examples. you can probably just condense it into waters and then point out slowking specifically)
- Volt Switch pivots make good partners. Zeraora can use Volt Switch to chip at the opponent and bring in Nidoqueen safely and appreciates Nidoqueen giving Amoonguss and Tangrowth trouble. Rotom-H is a Mamoswine switchin and can use Volt Switch to bring in Nidoqueen safely
- Most Kommo-o sets benefit from Nidoqueens presence as Nidoqueen can soften up teams by pressuring Primarina and Hatterene. Kommo-o also breaks past Chansey for Nidoqueen and can also dedicate a slot to Stealth Rock so Nidoqueen can run Toxic Spikes
- Terrakion and Lycanroc-Dusk can also form a dual breaker core and eliminate Chansey. In return Nidoqueen eliminates Tangrowth and Amoonguss which both these mons can struggle with when they're at full.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

- Nidoqueen used to run a bulkier set with Black Sludge to take advantage of its bulk and typing while also being able to set up hazards. This set struggles in the meta because the opportunity cost of forgoing Life Orb is noticeable and as a result is somewhat weak
- Taunt is a decently effective means of shutting down bulkier mons that give Nidoqueen issues, only issue is usually finding a slot for it
- Thunderbolt is an option over the third attacking move to still hit steela and OHKO a Gyara trying to set up but has little use out of this (It hits Slowking too. also, what exactly does it miss out on by not using fire blast or ice beam?)

Checks and Counters
===================

However, it is worth noting that all of the Pokemon mentioned have trouble switching into a Sludge Wave, with the exception of Calm Slowking.

**Chansey**: Chansey is essentially the only Pokemon that can freely switch into Nidoqueen's attacks without worry. Chansey easily stomachs anything Nidoqueen can throw at it, can recover any damage away, and can then chip Nidoqueen with Seismic Toss.

**Water-types**: All water-types in UU, bar Quagsire and Tentacruel, can outspeed and OHKO Nidoqueen with ease. For example, a Keldeo can outspeed Nidoqueen and OHKO with Scald, while a Choice Band Crawdaunt outright OHKOes with Aqua Jet.

[OVERVIEW]

- Because of its fantastic coverage, good typing, and support options Nidoqueen is a very good option for many balanced and offensive teams as it role compresses hazards, power, coverage, and an electric immunity into one slot
- Nidoqueen has access to the Life Orb and Sheer Force combo, making it a remarkably strong attacker that can 2HKO most the metagame bar Chansey. Slowking also. The lack of recoil from Life Orb is really useful as well
- Elite coverage options coupled with amazing STABS mean it can threaten common bulkier mons like Tangrowth, Celesteela, and Primarina. This lets it punch holes for setup sweepers like Gyarados
- As a result of its frightening power and coverage Nidoqueen's matchup against balanced teams is incredible this is honestly debatable in this gen where options like slowking and chansey fit like a glove so so well on balance teams. This is a bit more true of Tspikes sets though just cause of how well it pressures all absorbers and removers.
- Solid bulk makes it a more reliable attacker and can help somewhat offset its poor Speed matchup versus offensive teams might want to go into a bit more detail when you write up about how the bulk helps with some actual examples and tie the defensive typing into this.
- Has a solid defensive typing
- Has great utility in its ground-typing, providing an electric immunity which also lets it block Rotom-H + Zera volts. it do be doing this but i think your warning about not wanting to switch into zeraora too freely due to LO reliance should be mentioned immediately after this point, as atm this sorta suggests that switching into these two is a good idea when b2b Overheat on switch in from rotom-heat can also mess you up as well. Perhaps mention how its mere presence can at least dissuade these Pokemon from clicking Volt Switch though. Combined with a Poison typing it's able to effectively check Pokemon such as Nihilego.
- Aforementioned low Speed can really work against it at times and gives it a much worse matchup against offensive teams since they have an easier time pressuring it
- Very reliant on Life Orb, meaning it is prone to one of the most common attacks in Knock Off; this also means that Zeraora can take advantage of Nidoqueen pivoting in to check it by knocking off its Life Orb on the switch in
- Nidoqueen does have a good defensive typing, but that defensive typing still leaves it weak to some pretty common Pokemon such as Latias, Mamoswine, and Alakazam
- 0 form of recovery leaves it extremely prone to being worn down

- Nidoqueen on the whole is a reliable hazards setter because of its decent bulk, how many switches it forces, and ability to discourage hazard removers such as Salamence, Skarmory, and Rotom-H from defogging because of its solid matchup versus them
- The traits mentioned above can help it act as a reliable Stealth Rock setter which helps most teams this just feels like repetition of the previous point honestly?
- Nidoqueen can also run Toxic Spikes to wear down opposing teams if the team already has a stealth rock user, which once again is complimented by its ability to pressure opposing hazard removers and toxic spike absorbers like Amoonguss and Galarian Slowbro. (Maybe also comment on how it lets it put a bit more pressure on Chansey and a knocked Slowking too?)
- Earth Power and Sludge Wave are mandatory STABs to OHKO Hatt, Tangrowth, Incineroar, etc. Also hits pretty much everything that is neutral to it hard Unecessary to state this last bit imo.
- Fire Blast mention scizor here, one of ur most important targets 2HKOs Celesteela and Amoonguss ALso necessary coverage to hit Skarmory. 2HKOing Amoonguss also really doesnt do this justice, as it does like 82%+, and makes it sound a lot weaker than it is, as it basically lets you remove a slightly chipped Amoonguss.
- Ice Beam can hit Salamence, Latias, Amoonguss, and Kommo-o for respectable damage, but leaves Nidoqueen struggling versus Celesteela kommo-o doesn't really take anything of yours that well anyway, its mainly for mence and latias while retaining coverage for amoongusus.
- A Modest nature is preferred over timid to get the full breaking power and because Nidoqueen outspeeds most of the Pokemon it handles anyways such as Tangrowth Primarina etc. Any examples of 2HKO's Modest gives that Timid doesn't?
- A Timid nature is an option to get the jump on Timid Tapu Bulu and Timid Toxtricity Timid volc more important than JOLLY bulu here as an example imo as ada is way way more common on bulu, but feel free to mention it still if you want. (technically ada mamo too but obviously it just ice shards you if you aren't near max hp so wouldnt mention that) while still hitting a lot of the things Nidoqueen succeeds against hard. However the overall power dropoff is noticeable and the decision to outspeed both of these pokemon is very team specific considering Adamant Tapu Bulu is more common and Toxtricity is still a generally rarity in UU

Nidoqueen can also do a lot of damage to Amoonguss and Celesteela which helps Tapu Bulu out as well. The two overall form a very effective dual breaker core that can pressure and overwhelm the opponent easily due to their great power and coverage options. this point is quite long and this bit doesnt really feel super necessary anyway as you've basically stated most of it already. Tapu Bulu also serves as a solid Keldeo switchin. Worth mentioning grassy terrain too which helps give nidoqueen some mild recovery.
- Other wallbreakers can pair well with Nidoqueen as well. Azumarill is a good teammate for instance. Again this feels like a lot of text for just one partner here honestly? Bisharp is another wallbreaker that dispatches Slowking and Chansey very effectively and works well with Nidoqueen to overwhelm opponents through sheer breaking power
- Water-types make good partners as well. Slowking in particular is an awesome teammate for Nidoqueen because it checks a variety of threats that can outspeed Nidoqueen like Latias and can use slow teleport to get Nidoqueen in safely. Slowking's Future Sight + Nidoqueen STABs is also very overwhelming for teams at times sort of but in reality slowking, latias, chansey still check you pretty well with this combo anyway. honestly twave is probably the more directly useful support move from slowking in this pairing, crippling stuff like latias for you.
- Volt Switch pivots make good partners. Zeraora can use Volt Switch to chip at the opponent and bring in Nidoqueen safely and appreciates Nidoqueen giving Amoonguss and Tangrowth trouble. Rotom-H is another pivot that acts as a Mamoswine switchin and can use Volt Switch to bring in Nidoqueen safely Worth nothing that Zeraora can offensively pressure stuff like Latias and Keldeo for you. Would also consider mentioning Rotom-W here alongside these options as a great Krook switch in and something else that brings you in on the fat grasses.
In return Nidoqueen eliminates Tangrowth and Amoonguss which both these mons can struggle with.

Worth throwing a mention in somewhere of things that can Knock Slowking imo, since getting it effected by rocks / tspikes can allow you to break through it.

- Nidoqueen used to run a bulkier set with Black Sludge to take advantage of its bulk and typing while also being able to set up hazards. This set struggles in the meta because the opportunity cost of forgoing Life Orb is noticeable and as a result is somewhat weak Not a good idea to talk about the history of sets like this honestly. If you want to talk about it comment on how it can better check scizor, somewhat check non-EQ terrakion and better deals with zeraora, but that its notieably weaker.
- Taunt is a decently effective means of shutting down bulkier mons that give Nidoqueen issues, only issue is usually finding a slot for it you will struggle versus chansey and slowking too which is worth noting; slowking can just scald you and chansey takes far too little from your attacks while you have no recovery against seismic tosses.
- Thunderbolt is an option over the third attacking move to Slowking and OHKO a Gyara trying to set up but has little use out of this. Forgoing Fire Blast or Ice Beam can leave Nidoqueen struggling against Pokemon such as Celesteela due to the drop in power of Fire Blast or being able to pressure Latias switchins even more Celesteela and lati comment aint totally true really as tbolt still hits steela and u still have sludge wave for lati. the focus is more on that you don't really check stuff like scizor as well and can't 1 shot amoonguss without fire blast, while tbolt is slightly weaker against steela.

Checks and Counters
===================

However, it is worth noting that all of the Pokemon mentioned have trouble switching into a Sludge Wave, with the exception of Calm Slowking. This is actually our analysis spread, would talk more about how it can struggle to check if it has been knocked off if you wanna make an extra comment here.

Mention Victini on psychic types section too, especially special sets with psychic.

**Chansey**: Chansey is essentially the only Pokemon that can freely switch into Nidoqueen's attacks without worry. technically slowking (and umbreon) do this too, while roost lati does it fairly consistently, maybe just say that its the single best answre instead of essentially the only counter. Chansey easily stomachs anything Nidoqueen can throw at it, can recover any damage away, and can then chip Nidoqueen with Seismic Toss.

**Water-types**: All water-types in UU, bar Quagsire and Tentacruel, nitpick but CroCune is actually slower with our current spread on it onsite can outspeed and OHKO Nidoqueen with ease. For example, a Keldeo can outspeed Nidoqueen and OHKO with Scald, while a Choice Band Crawdaunt outright OHKOes with Aqua Jet. Might want to say that tenta still forces you out if you are chipped though.

Would add a section here on faster revenge killers since Nidoqueen is fairly slow and prone to being picked off by a load of other stuff not mentioned like Kommo-o, Krookodile, Mamoswine, Lycanroc-Dusk etc.

[OVERVIEW]

Nidoqueen's access to the Life Orb and Sheer Orb combination, which essentially boosts the power of its used attacks by more than a Choice item without any Life Orb recoil, grants it exceptional breaking power as it is capable of 2HKOing the majority of the UU metagame bar Chansey and Slowking. This is a mouthful. Just say it is a strong wallbreaker thanks to having Life Orb- and Sheer Power-boosted attacks, letting it 2HKO everything except... This power, coupled with solid STABs as well as excellent coverage options, can make Nidoqueen an extremely troubling Pokemon to switch into. Nidoqueen's aforementioned STABs and coverage options let it remove common bulky Pokemon such as Tangrowth, Celesteela, and Primarina, which can clear the way for setup sweepers such as Gyarados. Saying you can 2HKO everything bar Chansey and Slowking kind of implies it is hard to switch into. Nidoqueen also provides utility to teams through ways other than offensively; Nidoqueen's access to Stealth Rock and Toxic Spikes make it a decent hazard setter because it forces a multitude of switches and is able to pressure most hazard removers, while it also compresses an Electric-type immunity for a team through its Ground-typing which can help discourage common Electric-types such as Zeraora and Rotom-H from using Volt Switch. Again quite the mouthful, I feel like the whole hazard setter point could just go into your very first line. It being hard to switch into is what makes it a good hazard setter. Make the typing line its own sentence. On top of all this, Nidoqueen's decent bulk and overall good defensive typing help it tank some attacks and check Pokemon such as Nihilego. Combine this into one sentence about its typing, as I explained before. However, while Nidoqueen brings many positives to a team, it has some glaring flaws that can be taken advantage of somewhat easily. A very low Speed I wouldn't say very low. stat gives Nidoqueen a poor matchup versus faster-paced teams, and as a result is often very pressured by them. Nidoqueen's reliance on Life Orb leaves it prone to one of the most common attacks in the tier in Knock Off, and this can mean that Zeraora can take advantage of Nidoqueen pivoting in to check it by knocking off its Life Orb on the switch in. I would rather you tied this in straight after talking about its typing and bringing up Zeraora there. Then go into the other negatives. Although Nidoqueen sports a quality defensive typing, it is still very weak to common Pokemon in the tier such as Latias, Mamoswine, and Alakazam. To compound all of the mentioned struggles, Nidoqueen has no form of reliable recovery, meaning it is worn down pretty quickly throughout a match.

[SET COMMENTS]

Nidoqueen is a reliable setter of hazards, as noted earlier, because of its above average bulk, ability to force switches, and good matchup versus hazard removers such as Salamence, Skarmory, and Rotom-H. Stealth Rock is the better hazard choice for this set as it provides excellent utility to just about any team, although Toxic Spikes is an option if another Stealth Rock user is present on the team. It is worth noting that Toxic Spikes has the added benefit of being able to pressure Chansey and a Slowking with its Heavy-Duty Boots removed better. Earth Power and Sludge Wave are mandatory, powerful STABs that OHKO common I wouldn't call hatt or incin common bulkier Pokemon such as Hatterene, Tangrowth, and Incineroar. (remove double space) Fire Blast is an excellent coverage move and the best pick for the last slot as it easily OHKOes Scizor and almost OHKOes Amoonguss. Fire Blast also cleanly 2HKOs Celesteela. Ice Beam, however, can be used over Fire Blast as it hits Latias and Salamence much harder while also still retaining coverage on Amoonguss. I would just focus on it being primarily for Latias, no Salamence is taking Sludge Wave well regardless. Mention it isn't too useful in many other scenarios. Modest is the preferred nature on this set, as it grants exceptional power to its attacks and most of Nidoqueen's primary targets are still outsped by it with this nature, although a Timid nature can be used to outspeed Jolly Tapu Bulu, Timid Volcanion, and Timid Toxtricity. However, a Timid nature will be noticeably weaker, missing out on benchmarks such as being able to guarantee the 2HKO on defensive Kommo-o. Furthermore, Adamant Tapu Bulu is far more common than Jolly Tapu Bulu, while Volcanion and Toxtricity are general rarities in UU.

Tapu Bulu pairs very well with Nidoqueen as a teammate as Tapu Bulu appreciates Nidoqueen taking care of Amoonguss and Tangrowth. Tapu Bulu, in return, can check Azumarill, Slowking, and Keldeo. Tapu Bulu setting Grassy Terrain also adds a bit of recovery to Nidoqueen. Azumarill makes a good teammate because, like Tapu Bulu, it appreciates Nidoqueen's good matchup versus Amoonguss and Tangrowth. Azumarill's presence as a teammate benefits Nidoqueen because of its good matchup versus Pokemon that check Nidoqeeun such as Slowking and Chansey. Azumarill can use Knock Off to remove Slowking's Heavy-Duty Boots or Chansey's Eviolite to make it easier for Nidoqueen or other teammates to pressure these Pokemon. Bisharp is another wallbreaker that breaks through Slowking and Chansey, and overall pairs nicely with Nidoqueen as the two are able to overwhelm common defensive cores through their incredible breaking power. Just merge Bisharp and Azumarill into the same point about wallbreakers. Ironically, Slowking is a decent teammate for Nidoqueen because it checks many Pokemon that threaten Nidoqueen such as Latias. Slowking also can use Teleport to bring Nidoqueen in safely. Volt Switch pivots make helpful partners as they can also bring Nidoqueen in the game safely. Zeraora has access to Volt Switch and can pressure Keldeo and Latias, and appreciates Nidoqueen's good matchup versus Amoonguss and Tangrowth once again; Zeraora can also lure in these Pokemon using Volt Switch. Rotom-H and Rotom-W are both Volt Switch users that can also check Mamoswine while the latter has the added benefit of checking Krookodile. A teammate Nidoqueen always pairs well with almost regardless of set is Kommo-o as Nidoqueen can break through Primarina and Hatterene which can help Kommo-o be successful. Defensive Kommo-o sets using Stealth Rock also can let Nidoqueen run Toxic Spikes. Lastly, Terrakion and Lycanroc-D are both very good teammates to Nidoqueen as Nidoqueen being able to remove the aforementioned bulky Grass-types and Skarmory. Tie these examples into a whole point about other wallbreakers as I mentioned above.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Nidoqueen can run a bulkier set holding Black Sludge as it can somewhat take advantage of its bulk and defensive typing to better check Zeraora, Scizor, and non-Earthquake Terrakion and do a better job setting up hazards, but this set struggles because of the opportunity cost of forgoing a Life Orb as the item and as a result it is somewhat weak. Taunt does a decent job of giving utility Pokemon a hard time, but unfortunately struggles to justify a slot on the listed set over the mentioned moves and is still pretty ineffective against Nidoqueen's best checks, Slowking and Chansey. Lastly, Thunderbolt can be used over Fire Blast or Ice Beam to hit Slowking better as well as a Gyarados using Dragon Dance, but can leave Nidoqueen missing out on being able to OHKO Scizor or hit Amoonguss super-effectively, while being notably weaker versus Celesteela.

Substitute is worth a mention as is Protect. Sub giving it safety to fire off an attack while Protect can help scout common choice locked mons like Krookodile, Jirachi, and Victini.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Psychic-types**: Psychic-types such as Latias, Alakazam, and Slowking all check Nidoqueen. For instance, the former two outspeed and easily OHKO with their Psychic STAB, while Slowking can take multiple hits and weaken Nidoqueen with a Scald or shift the momentum with Future Sight. Victini, specifically specially-based Victini, is notable as a check as well due to the fact that it can chip off a lot of Nidoqueen's HP with STAB Psychic. However, it is worth noting that all the mentioned Pokemon bar Slowking have trouble switching into a Sludge Wave. zam doesn't appreciate switching into everything, just rephrase to say it can pressure all of them except Slowking.

**Chansey**: Chansey is the single best answer to Nidoqueen as it can consistently switch into its attacks without worry. Chansey easily stomachs anything Nidoqueen can throw at it, can recover any damage away, and can then chip Nidoqueen with Seismic Toss.

**Water-types**: The majority of Water-types in UU can outspeed and OHKO Nidoqueen with ease. For example, a Keldeo can outspeed Nidoqueen and OHKO with Scald, while a Choice Band Crawdaunt outright OHKOes with Aqua Jet. Even Tentacruel can force out a Nidoqueen if Nidoqueen has its HP chipped enough.

**Faster Revenge-Killers**: Faster, powerful Pokemon such as Lycanroc-Dusk and Krookodile all can outspeed and OHKO Nidoqueen, especially if it has enough HP chipped. UU is full of Pokemon that can do so; for instance, Adamant Mamoswine can take away at least three quarters of Nidoqueen's HP with Ice Shard, while Kyurem can outspeed Nidoqueen and OHKO easily. Adamant mamo is faster than modest queen and can just ohko with crash or eq. Given Jolly is fairly viable I'd just leave this as they can ohko it with their stab coverage.

As a future tip, when writing teammates, it is fine to start off listing them one by one but if you see a bunch overlap in why they value the Pokemon's support/help the Pokemon in question then put them into the same point. You can then go into more detail about them if it is really necessary. The obvious example here being three points on separate wallbreakers that value Nidoqueen's wallbreaking abilities for the same reason.

[OVERVIEW]

Nidoqueen's is an exceptional wallbreaker and capable entry hazard setter because of its attacks being boosted by both Life Orb and Sheer Force (RC) letting it 2HKOing the majority of the let it 2HKO the entire (If that's not what you meant, you can do like: "...Force let it 2HKO the majority of the UU metagame, bar (special walls/specially bulky Pokemon/etc.) such as Chansey and Slowking.") UU metagame bar Chansey and Slowking. Thanks to its great STABs STAB moves and coverage, Nidoqueen also has a fantastic matchup against many physically defensive Pokemon in the tier such as Amoonguss, Skarmory, and Tangrowth. Nidoqueen It has a solid defensive typing, letting it check Pokemon such as Nihilego (RC) and compresses a Ground-type immunity for a team which allows it to discourage common Electric-types such as Zeraora and Rotom-H from using Volt Switch. Unfortunately, Nidoqueen does have an Nidoqueen's over-reliance on its Life Orb (RC) leaving leaves it prone to Knock Off, which Zeraora can take advantage of when Nidoqueen attempts to Nidoqueen pivot into it. A low Speed stat gives Nidoqueen an undesirable matchup versus faster-paced teams (RC) and as a result is often very pressured by them, (period -> comma) and although Nidoqueen sports a quality defensive typing, it is still very weak to common Pokemon in the tier such as Latias, Mamoswine, and Alakazam. To compound all of the mentioned struggles, These struggles sting a bit more because (Wording felt a bit harsh for an A-rank mon. Feel free to tinker with, etc.) Nidoqueen has no form of reliable recovery, meaning it is worn down pretty quickly throughout a match.

[SET COMMENTS]

Nidoqueen is a reliable setter of hazards, as noted earlier, entry hazards because of its above average bulk, ability to force switches, and good matchup versus hazard removers such as Salamence, Skarmory, and Rotom-H. Stealth Rock is the better hazard choice for this set, (AC) as it provides excellent utility to just about any team, although Toxic Spikes is an option if the team has another Stealth Rock user is present on the team. Earth Power and Sludge Wave are mandatory, powerful STABs STAB moves that OHKO bulkier Pokemon such as Hatterene, Tangrowth, and Incineroar. Fire Blast is an excellent coverage move and the best pick for the last slot, (AC) as it easily OHKOes Scizor, (AC) and almost OHKOes Amoonguss, (AC) Fire Blast also and cleanly 2HKOs Celesteela. Ice Beam can be used over Fire Blast as it hits to hit Latias much harder while also still retaining coverage on Amoonguss, but it generally provides much less utility than Fire Blast. Modest is the preferred nature on this set, as it grants exceptional power to its attacks and most of Nidoqueen's primary targets are still outsped by it because it grants Nidoqueen exceptional power, and it can still outspeed most of its primary targets with this nature, although a Timid nature can be used to outspeed Jolly Tapu Bulu, Timid Volcanion, and Timid Toxtricity. However, a Timid nature will be make Nidoqueen noticeably weaker, missing out on benchmarks such as being able to guarantee the guaranteed 2HKO on defensive Kommo-o.

Tapu Bulu pairs very well with Nidoqueen, (AC) as a teammate as Tapu Bulu as it appreciates Nidoqueen taking care of Amoonguss and Tangrowth. Tapu Bulu, in return, can check Water-types like (I assume?) Azumarill, Slowking, and Keldeo. Tapu Bulu setting Grassy Terrain also adds provides a bit of recovery to Nidoqueen. Wallbreakers such as Azumarill, Terrakion, Lycanroc-D, and Bisharp make good teammates because they also appreciate Nidoqueen's good matchup versus Amoonguss, Skarmory, and Tangrowth. Azumarill and Bisharp's presence as a teammate benefit Nidoqueen because of its their good matchups versus Pokemon that check Nidoqeeun it, such as Slowking and Chansey. Azumarill and Bisharp can also use Knock Off to remove Slowking's Heavy-Duty Boots or Chansey's Eviolite to make it easier for Nidoqueen or other teammates to pressure these Pokemon. Ironically, Slowking is a decent teammate for Nidoqueen because it checks many Pokemon that threaten Nidoqueen, (AC) such as Latias. Slowking also can use Teleport to bring Nidoqueen in safely, as can Volt Switch pivots make helpful partners as they can also bring Nidoqueen in the game safely. Zeraora has access to Volt Switch and like Zeraora, which can pressure Keldeo and Latias (RC) and appreciates Nidoqueen's good matchup versus Amoonguss and Tangrowth once again; Zeraora can also lure in these Pokemon using Volt Switch. Rotom-H and Rotom-W are both Volt Switch users that can also check Mamoswine, (AC) while the latter has the added benefit of checking Krookodile. A teammate Nidoqueen always pairs well with almost regardless of set is Nidoqueen pairs well with almost any (make sure "Kommo-o set" is what you meant) Kommo-o set, (AC) as Nidoqueen can break through Primarina and Hatterene which can help Kommo-o be successful to help it succeed. Defensive Kommo-o sets using Stealth Rock also can let Nidoqueen run Toxic Spikes.

Other Options

Nidoqueen can run a bulkier set holding Black Sludge, (AC) as it can somewhat take advantage of its bulk and defensive typing to better check Zeraora, Scizor, and non-Earthquake Terrakion and do a better job setting up hazards, but this set struggles because of the opportunity cost of forgoing a Life Orb as the item and as a result it is somewhat weak. Taunt does a decent job of giving utility Pokemon a hard time, but unfortunately it is still pretty ineffective against Nidoqueen's best checks, Slowking and Chansey. Substitute can be a viable option on as it can be used on a switch Nidoqueen forces to ease prediction on a forced switch. Protect also lets helps prediction by letting Nidoqueen scout Choice-locked Pokemon it is weak to such as Krookodile, Victini, and Jirachi. Lastly, Thunderbolt can be used over Fire Blast or Ice Beam to hit Slowking better as well as a Gyarados using Dragon Dance, but can leave Nidoqueen missing out on being able to OHKO it misses out on OHKOing Scizor, (AC) or doesn't hit Amoonguss super effectively (removed hyphen), while being and is notably weaker versus Celesteela.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Psychic-types**: Psychic-types such as Latias, Alakazam, and Slowking all check Nidoqueen. For instance, the former two outspeed and easily OHKO it with their Psychic STAB move, while Slowking can take multiple hits and weaken Nidoqueen with a Scald or shift the momentum with Future Sight. However, it is worth noting that Nidoqueen can pressure the former two Pokemon from switching in.

**Chansey**: Chansey is the single best answer to Nidoqueen, (AC) as it can consistently switch into its attacks without worry, (period -> comma) Chansey easily stomachs anything Nidoqueen can throw at it, can recover any damage away, and can then chip Nidoqueen with Seismic Toss.

Even Tentacruel can force out a Nidoqueen if Nidoqueen has its HP is chipped enough.

**Faster Revenge Killers**: (removed hyphen) Faster, powerful Pokemon such as Lycanroc-Dusk and Krookodile all can outspeed and OHKO Nidoqueen, especially if it has enough HP chipped is chipped enough. UU is full of Pokemon that can do so, (semicolon -> comma) for instance, like Mamoswine and Kyurem can both outspeed and OHKO Nidoqueen with ease.

[OVERVIEW]

Nidoqueen is an exceptional wallbreaker and capable entry hazard setter because Life Orb and Sheer Force let it 2HKO the entire UU metagame bar Chansey and Slowking. ("because of its ability to <...> thanks to <...>", entirely optional but mildly cleaner) It has a Its solid defensive typing, letting also lets it check Pokemon such as Nihilego and compress a Ground-type immunity for a team to discourage common Electric-types such as Zeraora and Rotom-H from using Volt Switch. Unfortunately, Nidoqueen's over-reliance overreliance on its Life Orb leaves it prone susceptible to Knock Off, which Zeraora can take advantage of when Nidoqueen attempts to pivot into it. A low Speed stat gives Nidoqueen an undesirable matchup versus faster-paced teams, (AC) and although Nidoqueen sports a quality defensive typing, it is still very weak to common Pokemon in the tier such as Latias, Mamoswine, and Alakazam. These struggles sting a bit more because Nidoqueen has no form of reliable recovery, meaning it is worn down pretty quickly throughout a match.

Fire Blast is an excellent coverage move and the best pick for the last slot, as it easily OHKOes Scizor, almost OHKOes Amoonguss, and cleanly 2HKOs 2HKOes Celesteela. Ice Beam can be used to hit Latias much harder while still retaining coverage on Amoonguss, but it generally provides much less utility than Fire Blast. Modest is the preferred nature because it grants Nidoqueen exceptional power (RC) and it can still lets it outspeed most of its primary targets with this nature, although a Timid nature can be used to outspeed Jolly Tapu Bulu, Timid Volcanion, and Timid Toxtricity. However, a Timid nature will make Nidoqueen noticeably weaker, missing out on benchmarks such as the guaranteed 2HKO on defensive Kommo-o.
