MPL IV has finally come to a close (Congrats Lotads). This thread is here to share some teams and sets you'd like to share from any of the formats.

This was ORAS team I used in the playoffs and my opponent was attribute a very good a threatening player, so it was very difficult to build to something. One thing I noticed is that all of his builds were very weak to Choice Band Dragonite and Choice Band Landours-T. Other modifications I made were using Volt Switch over Discharge to keep up constant pressure against types such as Normal, Psychic, and Water (all type he had used multiple times previous weeks before).

Celebi @ Leftovers

Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

Slowbro @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Slack Off
- Thunder Wave
This was team I built for North that FLCL used. My aim with this team was trying to beat North's common types since he recycled the same teams multiple times in MPL since there's only a handful of types in BW that are "safe" bets (Water Fighting Dragon etc.). I was aiming for north using water or fighting and having either Choice Scarf Latios (Fighting), Choice Specs Meloetta (North used Ghost since it is a good anti-meta type) or Celebi (Water) sweep. The team preformed well but one minor change I've tried is Fire Blast over Ice Beam since there's no Victini, but I opted for Ice Beam to keep Dragon in mind since it was a possibility.

I'd love to see what specific teams or sets everyone used in MPL IV so feel free to share.

was brought in tiebreaker, and pretty much had the mindset of "when in doubt, stall them" lol. specs focus blast keldeo hits p hard and i dont think anyone expects it in oras mono. hwish mola allows you to crunch one of the colbur mons (unless they ohko you, like celebi) to get rid of colbur, then hwish it up later on in the game which should end up with sharpedo cleaning (this rly only happens if u end up using knock on empo, which can safely knock off the potential colbur mew, celebi, jirachi, etc)

at the time i didnt rly like scarf drill just cause air balloon zone/golem-a kinda rendered it useless so i wanted to try out sd rocks exca to somewhat help with that problem, which can be a pretty nice surprise factor and can work out in a lot of situations. also didnt wanna use mzor for a change

The only two types required to give ppl the hands in BW Monotype. A lot of stuff you can move around on Drag, such as Hydreigon set, making Dnite band, swapping Lati roles ie. going Scarf Latios and CM Latias but I wouldn't mess around with the Fighting too much.

Don't have any particular teams to drop, but I will drop this Froslass set for Ice:

Froslass @ Choice Specs
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Psychic
- Trick
- Destiny Bond

With my Cloyster running Toxic Spikes, I really wanted a more offensive Froslass set. Since I already had a Choice Scarf on Kyurem-B, I didn't wanna go with the Choice Scarf set, so I decided to test this Specs set. With Choice Specs, Keldeo only needs to take a few turns of poison damage before being within range of a Psychic, or if it's a Water team it just gets picked off after 3 layers of Spikes. Additionally, this set also has no switch-ins on Ghost teams, which is nice for when you aren't running Weavile. However, I didn't get to use the set to its fullest potential, as all it really did was revenge kill an Infernape and get off some Cursed Body hax against an Excadrill.

I usually don’t make posts here, but since I’m not really planning to use any of the stuff I build in MPL and there’s a lot of stuff left that no one will ever see, I might as well. In the spoilers you can find some sets I have thought of and the teams I have been able to put together with them. There's also a section of teams and sets I unfortunately haven't been able to use. 9 BO3s + supplying teammates means a lot of teams, so this post is gonna be a bit long.

Starting with my SM stuff, I had most of the teams planned out before the season even started, so this section is the shortest. If you are interested, I can share any team we have used this season in SM, but honestly if they aren't in here, they aren't that interesting and new.

Latios @ Psychium Z
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Heal Block
- Defog

This is the Latios variant, we ended up using the most on our SM Psychic teams. In my opinion it’s the best Z-Move Latios that can still run Defog. Z Heal Block gives u +2 special attack allowing u to break some cores like Chansey/P2 and mono water. Z Psyshock is also a nice nuke that allows u to hit with a psychic move on both sides of the spectrum. Example team: https://pokepast.es/2d3d94e33b251d25

Crobat @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Defog
- Roost
- Taunt

Pretty cool way to make Poison teams less passive. It’s easy to fit in too, because Poison teams usually lack a z-move user and Crobat can still fulfill it’s defensive role with this set. Example team: https://pokepast.es/dff15418187fac31

Thundurus @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 8 HP / 248 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Bulk Up
- Fly
- Thunder

Sub Bulk Up ZFly Thundurus with a twist: I despise using moves that give u recoil which is why I wanted to use a special electric move over Wild Charge. This set had to have a Jolly nature to make sure toxapex doesn’t break your sub with Scald. In order to compensate the loss in power Thunder was the solution. Full team: https://pokepast.es/e38e65a936de94c3

Tornadus-Therian
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 80 HP / 216 Atk / 212 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Acrobatics
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Defog

I never really understood why you would use AV Torn-T in SM, while Defog is available. In my opinion this set does a lot more for flying teams. It still preserves the Z-Move and it’s pretty bulky with regenerator. It also allows you to Defog on Ferrothorn, who is surprisingly annoying to Defog on with Gliscor and Mantine. A physical variant is chosen to do more damage with Knock Off and U-turn while also preserving perfect accuracy with the Flying STAB. The Attack EVs are there to kill CM Keldeo and defence dropping Kommo-o. Full team: https://pokepast.es/1bdd159d0f614e08

Celesteela @ Metronome
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 72 HP / 252 SpA / 184 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Autotomize
- Air Slash
- Giga Drain
- Flamethrower

Metronome Air Slash Autonomize Celesteela is a very dangerous pokemon vs both slower and faster teams. The flinches combined with metronome and beast boost make him very hard to stop for for example fat water and ground teams. We have used this pokemon on Hyper Offensive Screens Steel teams, where he fits in great. Full team: https://pokepast.es/79e4a396eeb32661

For me personally, this season ORAS didn't go so great. I have a hard time explaining why really, since I think most of the stuff I came up with is cool and has lots of use. Obii and rozes both had a nice record going with the teams I provided. Going into MPL ORAS was pretty fresh with the new Hoopa-Unbound ban, giving me a lot of work and teams to build. The most fun stuff we have used you can find in the spoiler below.

Volcanion @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 84 SpA / 164 SpD / 8 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Steam Eruption
- Flamethrower
- Toxic
- Protect

I have come to use this guy more and more often on my Water teams. It’s a nice way to neutralize Zard-Y on water teams. He is also pretty much unkillable for Steel teams and can annoy the occasional grass and bug teams a lot. The Special Attacks EVs are there to OHKO 0/4 Heatran.

Starmie @ Choice Specs
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Psychic
- Ice Beam
- Rapid Spin

On my favorite Water balance I have used that Volcanion and this Specs Starmie together. Specs Starmie is a great way to beat tough matchups like Fighting and Dragon. While also being alright hazard removal for Volcanion whenever it needs it. Choice Specs has been used over Life Orb to make sure Starmie doesn’t get chipped that quickly and ends up dying. Full team: https://pokepast.es/ad4745f970d9e34d

Alakazam @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Dazzling Gleam
- Focus Blast
- Substitute

Really cool surprise set in my opinion. It allows you to bluff Sash Alakazam, while doing very big damage. Dazzling Gleam also lets u beat Dark monotypes. Substitute gives you a way to beat Bisharp. Very little in monotype is actually capable of walling this pokemon (apart from Chansey and bulky Psychic types). If u make sure u cover those matchups, this pokemon played well (not like I did) can put in real work. Full team: https://pokepast.es/e0e7f46907d02966

Gyarados @ Charti Berry
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Bounce
- Protect

Rozes used this guy in finals for us. With little chip on Cobalion this set is capable of 6-0ing Fighting monotypes. This is especially great, cause fighting is like in my opinion the worst matchup for water (of the used types at least). Charti Berry lets u take little damage from Terrakion Stone Edge and Protect blocks Medicham from killing you with Fake Out. Protect can be nice vs other types as well if u get toxic spikes up allowing u to chip that wall just a little bit more. Full team: https://pokepast.es/31e947b9476184a0 (note everything is faster than Breloom too).

Drapion @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sniper
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Poison Jab
- Pursuit
- Rock Slide

Poison, in my opinion, is really underrated in ORAS. Yes, it’s definitely not as good as it is in SM, but it still has a nice matchup vs a lot of the top tier types. The lack of flying resists in ORAS is the first difference that comes to mind. This Scarf Drapion set with Rock Slide is there to act as a Mega Pinsir check making the Bug matchup winnable. Full team: https://pokepast.es/985af191f000e93c

Latios @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Defog

Continuing with my hatred on the item Life Orb, we started pretty much only using Specs Latios instead. The tech is this exact set is that it’s great in Psychic mirrors. Latios usually is kinda underwhelming in these matchups, since SpDef Jirachi counters it pretty well. However, with Specs Shadow Ball u can net a clean 2HKO on that pokemon. Full team: https://pokepast.es/a1feeb7985c71d16

Going into BW, I wanted to challenge myself. It was a pretty new tier for me in which I felt people were okay with just repeating standard. Beating standard with types that usually were never seen seemed a lot more rewarding than just loading up the same stuff and it was. Shoutouts to Pearl and Zukushiku for helping me through the first few tough weeks with great teams. I'd like to think that after week 5 or so I was self-sufficient enough to create my own stuff. That stuff you can find below:

Kyurem-Black @ Chople Berry
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 56 HP / 216 Atk / 236 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Ice Beam
- Fusion Bolt
- Outrage
- Substitute

I used this guy in my week 1 BW match vs Kiyo. Chople Berry is there to help the fighting matchup. Specifically, it checks Scrafty. +1 252 Atk Scrafty High Jump Kick vs. 56 HP / 0 Def Chople Berry Kyurem-Black: 247-292 (60.9 - 72%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock. Full team: https://pokepast.es/23085b95c28755d7

Ninetales @ Custap Berry
Ability: Drought
EVs: 168 HP / 112 SpA / 80 SpD / 148 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sunny Day
- Solar Beam
- Fire Blast
- Hypnosis

It was week 6 of MPL and ever since week 2 I had only been joking around in BW using terrible types. I soon realised that Steel beats every shit type there was left and that Fire had 0 usage in MPL 3. Hence is why I took the challenge: trying to build a good Fire team. The first thing where every Fire team starts off with is Ninetales to support its other members. I went with a very specific set with Custap Berry. The EVs make it so that u live 2 Scarf Politoed Hydro Pumps in Sun. It also puts you in custap range if you get hit by a Scarf Terrakion Close Combat and a Specs Keldeo Scald. This was part of my gameplan how I was gonna beat Fighting.

Torkoal @ Mental Herb
Ability: Shell Armor
EVs: 248 HP / 16 Def / 244 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
- Flamethrower
- Yawn

Standard Torkoal set but with a twist. Mental Herb is there so that I can beat lead Infernape. I realised that if i just give Fighting the lead advantage with Stealth Rock I can never win. This slight adaptation puts me in my opinion in a good spot to win that matchup, which is obviously huge. Full team: https://pokepast.es/5693f0e8ecbc1fe2

Swampert @ Custap Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 112 Def / 144 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Scald
- Earthquake
- Superpower

More Custap Stuff. This set lives 2 LO Kyurem-B Ice Beams and retaliates with a Superpower. This was the missing link in my Water team I used to beat 1 True Lycan with. I decided not to use Keldeo on this one, because I felt like other pokemon would help me beat tough matchup a lot more and make it more consistent overall. Full team: https://pokepast.es/88ed0c19f111452d

Krookodile @ Choice Band
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Superpower

I wanted to use a ground team without Hippowdon for my semi-final game, because I thought again Steel with specifically Excadrill was very likely. I elected to put CB Krookodile in over him basically, because it has a nice matchup vs Psychic and Ghost as well. Those matchups didn’t seem particularly great for me on paper otherwise. Full team: https://pokepast.es/5ea076e7c20edc0d

Alakazam @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Signal Beam
- Focus Blast
- Magic Room

I used this guy on my finals BW team. Even though he didn’t get to come out at all really, I think he could have done great. The team, as some of you most likely saw, had a Nasty Plot passing Celebi inspired by Freeroamer, to support this Alakazam. Magic Room was my edit that makes the set a lot more dangerous. Basically what it does it deactivates all items, including Choice Scarf, after Alakazam has its Focus Sash broken. In most of the BW games then Alakazam has 4 turns, where it’s the fastest pokemon on the field, with nothing to fear. Full team: https://pokepast.es/4edfd7243a59f320

As with any team tour there's always stuff you want to use, but you really can't get yourself to do it. This team tour I had a lot of fresh ideas near the end of the tour. However, they were all a bit more towards risky side, which is why they didn't up getting used. I think these ideas are interesting enough to share with others though.

Seismitoad @ Leftovers
Ability: Poison Touch
EVs: 252 HP / 52 Def / 136 SpD / 68 Spe
Careful Nature
- Stomping Tantrum
- Ice Punch
- Stealth Rock
- Refresh

My take on the new Rest Seismitoad/Swampert techs to beat SubTox Zapdos. I basically dislike using Rest on a team without a Heal Beller, which is why I went with Refresh. Refresh has one obvious downside that Rest doesn’t have which is that it usually gets outstalled by Sub + Roost. That’s where Poison Touch Ice Punch kicks in. The Zapdos can’t stall you out without getting poisoned by Ice Punch in process and fearing getting ground moved on the roost. Stomping Tantrum is used over EQ, because it is a contact move so u get a 30% poison chance every time you use it. It can also do great damage if u catch a flying type roost spamming. Full team: https://pokepast.es/18749d07d1d1af52

Heracross @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Megahorn
- Facade

Very dangerous wallbreaker vs slower teams, especially when Sticky Webs are up. +2 Guts boosted moves do so much damage. Only 6.25% burn damage in SM makes this thing a lot harder to take down as well compared to ORAS.

Venomoth @ Buginium Z
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Sleep Powder
- Bug Buzz
- Hidden Power [Ground]

Nowadays I’d rather use this pokemon than Volcarona on my bug teams. Not only does Venomoth absorb those annoying TSpikes, thanks to Tinted Lens it does good damage vs pretty much any monotype, while Volcarona has a lot of moveslot issues. Thanks to Sleep Powder Venomoth can also become tricky to beat with Hazers.

Leavanny @ Focus Sash
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Sticky Web
- Electroweb
- Magic Coat

Using a Sticky Web lead like Galvantula for a type as bug, that gives your opponent Stealth Rocks, almost always puts u in a bad position from lead instead of in a good position. Leavanny is the fastest bug type that gets both Sticky Web and Magic Coat, which lets it sort of deter hazards from going up.

Anorith @ Eviolite
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
- Knock Off
- Rock Tomb

I got very tired of using terrible Armaldo that I wanted to test out if using his faster baby brother was worth it. It turns out that sometimes it really is. Anorith hits 273 speed maximum which speedties with Tapu Bulu. In Sticky Webs u even outspeed Mega Lopunny, which is pretty much the fastest common non-scarf pokemon in the metagame. Swift Swim can be pretty cool sometimes, because u even outspeed Kingdra in rain. I build two teams with the Leavanny + Anorith core. 1 in SM and 1 in ORAS: https://pokepast.es/32c0a53b11ca5704 and https://pokepast.es/c8e41249be96aa1a

Salamence @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Hydro Pump
- Roost

Cool underrated pokemon for flying teams. From preview it's not easy to predict what it can do. Intimidate + strong coverage make this thing a fun replacement for Dragonite. It can run a few other sets like bulky Defog or 3 atks Defog that are also worth exploring. Example team: https://pokepast.es/1719fb9d970841d9

Finally, I have 3 cool teams we didn't end using this MPL. These teams don't really fit the format of cool set + team import, which is why I just describe the team as a whole.

Screenshot 2018-08-15 at 11.04.28.png

Obii asked me if he could use Lando-I sometime and since he didn’t like flying, ground it was! It turned out to be a ground team without Hippowdon. I really dislike using that pokemon. Without Smooth Rock that pokemon just doesn’t seem worth it to me. It’s very passive and easy to abuse, which is especially problematic for a monotype with not so great defenses. I elected to use Seismitoad over it on this team making it better versus Water types. This team also has Toxic Spikes + Coil Dragon Tail Zygarde, very deadly combination. Pretty sad we didn’t get to use it, but I would you to try it out yourself. https://pokepast.es/5b58fc437c3aafe8

Screenshot 2018-08-15 at 10.25.16.png

This ORAS HO Flying gets a lot of cheap wins vs most teams. Xatu is a great fit, because it gets screens for the setup sweepers, while also detering hazards and stopping screens to get defogged. With screens support DD Grass Knot Thund-T 6-0s water, Agility DD Dragonite has a good shot to beat Dragon, SubDD Gyara should beat Psychic etc. Unfortunately we never ended up using it. Full team: https://pokepast.es/e091ba01ebce9173

BW Baton Pass Psychic. Yes, this is legal and pretty much impossible to beat with any standard team. It has a lot of nice techs, which I could go on to talk about for hours, but I will keep it short. The goal of the team is to set up screens, set up with Mew and Baton Pass to Espeon or Slowking. Wobbuffet removes the dangerous heracross, while Ice Gem Gothitelle removes Dragon Tailing Garchomp. The Slowking set is there to beat Ghost and Dark monotypes. Thanks to Oblivous Sableye can’t taunt you so you can just set up on its face. Pecha Berry Ice Beam is there to snipe Toxic Mandibuzz, one of the few things that could have beat this strategy otherwise. I didn’t want to do this of any of my opponents, but I don’t mind this team being out there really. Full team: https://pokepast.es/9676c1340377144b

Banned deucer.

I would actually like to ask about that poison team you posted. Can you please explain the EVs for Mega Venusaur, Toxapex and Muk-Alola? Do they hit any specific benchmarks? Also as to not make this a one liner, I really like the Venomoth and Seismitoad sets

Thanks! They all do hit some specific benchmarks, yes.

Mega Venusaur: EVs: 248 HP / 128 Def / 116 SpD / 16 Spe (Bold Nature). The Speed allows u to outspeed Adamant Azumarill. The defence EVs are there to take two Scarf Excadrill Earthquakes after switching in on Spikes + Stealth Rocks or twice on Stealth Rocks. The rest of the EVs were put into SpDef to better to take on fire/water/electric type attacks.

Toxapex: EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 SpD (Bold Nature). Unlike on Water monotypes you don't need toxapex to have max physical defence, that's why I chose to use a bit more SpDef. The SpDef allows it to live one LO Earth Power from Nidoking and a Psychic from Mega Alakazam, while still living a LO Jolly Excadrill Earthquake.

Muk-Alola: EVs: 248 HP / 136 Atk / 12 Def / 108 SpD / 4 Spe (Adamant Nature). I dislike using 0 Attack Muk. He's very weak and fails to kill a lot of Psychic types with Pursuit on the switch-out. So I went with a spread with more Attack. U need at least 100 Atk and an Adamant Nature to trap Latios after SR-damage with Pursuit. The Speed is there to outspeed 0 Speed Chansey. The Defence EVs allow Muk to live a Scarf V-Create from Victini after Stealth Rocks. The Special Defence EVs are a bit more complicated. I couldn't really find the perfect benchmark, so I went with a spread that allows Muk-Alola to switch into Magma Storm Heatran with SR + Spikes up and live the next incoming Earth Power 100% of the time to get an attack off. The leftover EVs I put into Attack, so that Muk-Alola does as much damage as I can afford it to do. Putting the leftover EVs into SpDef is also a good option.

252 Atk Mold Breaker Excadrill Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 128+ Def Venusaur-Mega: 115-136 (31.6 - 37.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and 1 layer of Spikes

252 SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Nidoking Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 112 SpD Toxapex: 252-299 (82.8 - 98.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Alakazam-Mega Psychic vs. 252 HP / 112 SpD Toxapex: 252-296 (82.8 - 97.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery
252 Atk Life Orb Mold Breaker Excadrill Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 144+ Def Toxapex: 252-299 (82.8 - 98.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery

100+ Atk Muk-Alola Pursuit vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latios: 264-312 (87.7 - 103.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Victini V-create vs. 248 HP / 12 Def Muk-Alola: 306-361 (74 - 87.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Heatran Magma Storm vs. 248 HP / 108 SpD Assault Vest Muk-Alola: 99-117 (23.9 - 28.3%) -- 87.8% chance to 3HKO after trapping damage
252 SpA Heatran Earth Power vs. 248 HP / 108 SpD Assault Vest Muk-Alola: 118-140 (28.5 - 33.8%) -- 0.6% chance to 3HKO

Just thought I'd post some cool sets I made during mpl, was going to earlier but I forgot to

Diggersby @ Normalium Z / Silk Scarf
Ability: Huge Power
Happiness: 0
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Quick Attack
- Frustration
- Earthquake

First is a lit diggersby set I ended up using after being tired of the constant struggle of normal trying to break poison. In between toxapex scouting for a choice band attack of return or EQ, I was pretty over it. My solution was this, taking inspiration from oras. You bring in diggers on a clean field on a pex, you SD on its baneful bunker, from there you can SD on its most likely switch out and just clean the team from right then and there, or u can attack if ur scared of it staying on for a scald burn. This also works really well vs water teams, but requires a little chip on stuff like keldeo or w/e to sweep. Normalium can be replaced w/ silk scarf, but I personally like the nuke it offers as a way to make up for the lack of damage from banded diggers.

Altaria-Mega @ Altarianite
Ability: Natural Cure
Happiness: 0
EVs: 252 HP / 24 Def / 80 SpD / 152 Spe
Impish Nature
- Frustration
- Dragon Dance
- Refresh
- Roost

This was another set I made during mpl, and again I wanted a different type of sweeper on my dragon team. The moveset itself is pretty self explanatory, using altarias great bulk to DD up and heal off from status and damage. The EV's were customized for specific benchmarks. I believe I had it so after 1 DD you reach 351 speed, the spdef allows altaria to live a scarf greninja ice beam after rocks, and the defense evs are so that a non invested poison jab from muk would fail to 2hk0. This set was specifically made to take advantage of bulky passive mons like chansey, pex, and the like, and to be able to sweep dark as dragon doesnt have the best mu vs it.

Hydreigon (M) @ Yache Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Dark Pulse
- Flamethrower
- Taunt

This hydreigon was made to better deal with the water mu that again, dragon has a pretty hard time dealing with. Pretty much explains itself, it's meant to catch greninja off guard pretty much. The taunt roost part makes it easier to deal with the likes of toxapex, celesteela, and whatever, and the obligatory dark pulse. Flamethrower over fireblast because accuracy and its a surefire way to kill greninja after it used ice beam to become an ice type, you live, and KO back with flamethrower. It bluffs other items pretty well too. Out of the 3 this is way more cteam specific so I wouldnt recommend unless ur going for a certain mu.

View attachment 132622

View attachment 132617

This ORAS HO Flying gets a lot of cheap wins vs most teams. Xatu is a great fit, because it gets screens for the setup sweepers, while also detering hazards and stopping screens to get defogged. With screens support DD Grass Knot Thund-T 6-0s water, Agility DD Dragonite has a good shot to beat Dragon, SubDD Gyara should beat Psychic etc. Unfortunately we never ended up using it. Full team: https://pokepast.es/9676c1340377144b
hey thorn, i was just wondering about this set https://pokepast.es/db2f5cd1c464fc85 , i was looking at my old oras teams and noticed that my slowbros also have 64 spA, was just wondering what the spa does. the two threats i was thinking about were mega gyarados and sharpedo.
64 SpA Slowbro Grass Knot (80 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Sharpedo: 248-294 (88.2 - 104.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
64 SpA Slowbro Grass Knot (100 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Sharpedo-Mega: 218-258 (77.5 - 91.8%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
64 SpA Slowbro Grass Knot (120 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Gyarados-Mega: 146-174 (44.1 - 52.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

The effectiveness of the spread has decreased a bit with the rise of Substitute Mega Sharpedo. It used to kill Hydro Pump Mega Sharpedo, which had a -SpDef Nature, after Stealth Rocks. I think back in the day I was comfortable with killing it 93.8% of the time, but it's probably a bit better to run 76 SpA to score a 100% kill. This still survives an LO Adamant Scolipede Megahorn. Investing in enough Special Attack to one-shot Jolly Mega Sharpedo after Stealth Rocks is too big of an investment for me: you need 228 EVs. If you don't want to rely on Stealth Rocks chipping Hydro Pump Mega Sharpedo you need 220 EVs; too much. However, this spread with Grass Knot still better than Thunder Wave, because that fails to break the Substitute.

The main reason to use this spread is not to beat Mega Sharpedo, but it is to beat resttalk DD Mega Gyarados. Thunder Wave Slowbro is complete setup fodder for Resttalk Gyarados. Using 64 SpA EVs makes sure Mega Gyarados can't resttalk loop vs you, since Grass Knot 3HKOs close to 90% of the time, instead of 10% of the time with no investment.
