Hello dear readers! Today I will be presenting a team that recently experienced a significant Pokémon drop in tier, leaving me relatively surprised. The Pokémon in question is :Iron Boulder: Apparently, its exceptional speed, combined with Speed Boost and its excellent moveset, couldn't keep it in OU tier. However, as I enjoy working with unconventional mons, I find it even more exciting to present. I will defend its usage and explain how it remains a potent Pokémon in this tier if used effectively. Additionally, I'm pleased to inform you that, for the first time in all the RMTs I've written, I made sure to save numerous replays to better evaluate the team :D Without further ado, let's begin with the introduction and construction of the team.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In my last RMT featuring :Darkray: I noticed a strong core of Clodsire paired with other pivots. :Clodsire: serves as a sponge, absorbing special hits, thus compensating for the lack of firepower from Pokémon like :Cinderace: and :Corviknight: which are common threats like :Raging Bolt: and :Primarina: The initial idea of the team was to work with a somewhat bulky structure, although not strictly balanced, but rather leaning towards balance-offense. The results were interesting, but I felt that in such an aggressive meta, and with the team having deficits in breaking fat teams with hazard spam from Pokémon like :Gliscor: some changes were necessary. The team became more aggressive, maintaining the idea of playing with two useful pivots: :Cinderace: and :Tornadus-Therian: working together and abusing booster energy from other Pokémon at the ideal time.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those interested, the initial prototype of the team can be found in the PokePaste link: https://pokepast.es/ea4560080604b81c

At this point, it might seem confusing to introduce :Clodsire: extensively and not include it in the team. However, there's a reason behind this. Remember the threats to my pivots, :Primarina: and :Raging Bolt:? Well, Great Tusk was the final addition to the team, serving to deal colossal damage, particularly thanks to the Attack Boost from booster energy. Since I aimed for a more aggressive team, Great Tusk fulfilled this role exceptionally well.

Now that I've given a brief introduction to the team and my intentions in playing with it, allow me to explain each choice and how they synergize with each other.

The team lacks a single Pokémon built to function as its centerpiece, unlike the Darkray RMT.

The beginning and the idea are straightforward to explain. Let's start by introducing :Cinderace: It fulfills its role excellently and more. Do you want to remove hazards from your field and have a better matchup against Hyper Offense? Done. Do you want a pivot with high speed? Done. Do you want a strong STAB move that can break through weaker teams and still be effective against Pokémon like :Gholdengo: and :Iron Valiant: most of the time? Done. Do you want to take a risk with a more aggressive set featuring Sucker Punch and have a better matchup against :Dragapult: the third most common Pokémon in the meta? Done. :Cinderace: performs extremely well in favorable matchups, although its primary function is the court change and pivot provided by u turn. There isn't much more to say about it except that against bulkier teams with Pokémon like :Gliscor: and :Alomomola: and hazard stack, it will typically perform its role very bad.

The other pivot chosen was :Tornadus-Therian: a Pokémon that resides in UU but finds usage in OU. Despite its recent vr drop in tier, which I don't think significantly impacts its utility, it offers a different set of advantages compared to Landorus-Therian. While both serve a supportive function, Tornadus-Therian brings considerable offensive capabilities, speed, and access to moves like Knock Off and Heat Wave to pressure threats like :Kingambit: and :Gholdengo: It's not useless against Pokémon like :Corviknight: and :Skarmory: either, managing to defeat them with its damage output and regenerator function. The synergy between these pivots, :Cinderace: and :Tornadus-Therian: is exceptional, particularly against teams with Grassy Terrain. Tornadus-Therian's Flying type further enhances its damage output in critical situations.

As mentioned in the introduction about :Great Tusk: let's delve into its role. Essentially, as I trust my pivots and prioritize damage to make my team more aggressive, Great Tusk covers threats like :Raging Bolt: while still serving as a general offensive threat. With its impressive moveset, it can easily opt for the Attack Boost from Speed Boost. Here are some calculations to illustrate what it can achieve with this boost:

252 Atk Protosynthesis Great Tusk Headlong Rush vs. 80 HP / 0 Primarine Def: 328-387 (102.1 - 120.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Protosynthesis Great Tusk Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Ogerpon-Wellspring: 297-349 (98.6 - 115.9%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO
252 Atk Protosynthesis Great Tusk Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Ting-Lu: 422-498 (82.1 - 96.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Protosynthesis Great Tusk Ice Spinner vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Enamorus: 306-362 (105.8 - 125.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Protosynthesis Great Tusk Headlong Rush vs. 252 HP / 104 Def Volcarona: 315-372 (84.2 - 99.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Protosynthesis Great Tusk Headlong Rush vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Iron Valiant: 280-330 (96.5 - 113.7%) -- 75% chance to OHKO
252 Atk Protosynthesis Great Tusk Ice Spinner vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Roaring Moon: 304-358 (86.6 - 101.9%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO

These are just a few examples, but they demonstrate how dangerous Great Tusk can be with the Attack Boost at the right time. Its function can range from being a late-game sweeper to a Pokémon that inflicts significant damage and then switches out. Great Tusk and the pivots synergize well, with Great Tusk covering their weaknesses and benefiting from their support.

The next addition to the team was :Iron Valiant: which modest nature for abuses the Special Attack boost. Despite its low speed, it becomes a significant threat with the boost. Its moveset options include Shadow Ball or Psyshock, both of which have their merits. Shadow Ball is useful against :Gholdengo: and possibly :Slowking-Galar: while Psyshock is effective against :Volcarona: and :Clodsire: Iron Valiant's Fairy typing further amplifies its damage output, making it a formidable presence on the team.

I confess that for a long time I preferred to use psyshock, in the end I chose to use shadow ball, however it is something totally questionable and personal to each person as they are both good moves, :iron-valiant: and possibly the pokemon that ends up using the most tera, at least factor that moonblast is a very spammable move since it buffs its sp.atk with booster energy, its damage becomes insane and extremely stupid, like this:

252+ SpA Quark Drive Tera Fairy Iron Valiant Moonblast vs. 80 HP / 0 SpD Primarina: 248-292 (77.2 - 90.9%) -- 25% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Quark Drive Tera Fairy Iron Valiant Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Alomomola: 522-616 (97.7 - 115.3%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO
252+ SpA Quark Drive Tera Fairy Iron Valiant Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 252+ SpD Alomomola: 318-376 (67.5 - 79.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Quark Drive Tera Fairy Iron Valiant Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 204+ SpD Garganacl: 226-266 (55.9 - 65.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Quark Drive Tera Fairy Iron Valiant Moonblast vs. 244 HP / 16 SpD Gliscor: 348-410 (98.8 - 116.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Quark Drive Tera Fairy Iron Valiant Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Kingambit: 320-378 (93.8 - 110.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

In short, either you are a poison/steel pokemon or there are no switches for that, and we are still considering that we did not level up calm mind
vaccum wave priority with booster energy is always very welcome because here we will have double priority with :cinderace: sucker punch, and very interesting damage in general, being able to weaken dangerous threats such as :roaring moon: and :kingambit: we can also play on thunderclap from :raging bolt: since vaccum wave cancels it

As there was still no stealth rock on the team and I couldn't afford to put :landorus-therian: due to the enroem weakness that would open the ice to pokemon like :kyurem: and weavile: and triple axel from :meowscarada: and :great tusk: It was already on the team :garganacl: it fit like a glove, as the team doesn't have any pokemon that are extremely dependent on tera (:iron valiant: depending on the MU, they will definitely not use it) :Garganacl: he filled this role very well. Any chance he loses his horrible property helps him a lot by making him much more tanky and by having access to an excellent moveset he does some things very well such as giving a flat 12% to threatening sweepers like :roaring moon: and also stalling with protect , in fact 12% may not be a big deal, but as I made a point of mentioning in this rmt, priority is always something very good, even more so when you have two, thus making this damage caused extremely important for a future finish with priority. he also fights very well with :iron valiant: because big threats like :volcarona: if this is not tera ground and :dragapult: are easily defeated by him, after tera :gholdengo: becomes another, he stops being a threat. less common things like :iron crown: become useless and without any danger to the team after tera water too: in reality like :garganacl: it's a very bulky pokemon on both sides and has recovery moves its stalling function ends up being of great synergy for the rest of the team, because as the team is very fast, the punishment to finish other pokemons later is very easy after they are weakened. In general, it can be said that :garganacl: is a big reset button, when you feel like you need to slow down the game and defend yourself more so it doesn't get out of control

And to close, we're going to introduce our boy who dropped a tier, but I thought he was very good on this journey, earning me several points.

:iron boulder: is simple and direct, you won't be able to compete in brute strength with :Roaring moon: :ogerpon-wellspring: :kingambit: and :raging bolt: but its difference is its colossal speed, 124 base speed with the help of booster energy make him the pinnacle of speed control, nothing will be faster than him except priority, if he leaves the field and the other paradoxes too, he will continue to be faster than all of them, and in addition, it is easy to play on top of those who have already given a speed buff, be it 1 dd of :roaring moon: or 1 qd of :volcarona: being able to deal a considerable amount of damage to them or force the tera since both of them can kill with 1 hit.

his moveset is exceptional, a signature rock move with decent bp that goes through protect and burning burwalk in addition to zen headbutt for :zamazenta: :great tusk: and :iron valiant: in addition to flinch, and close combat or eq, I personally prefer much more close combat because of tera and so as not to get so vulnerable to :kingambit's sucker punch in addition to an extremely strong stab.

in general :iron boulder: can abuse its speed and its really decent bulky on the special side to use SD without major problems throughout the game, making it an excellent late game sweeper. as my team is fast and easily weakened either with pivots throughout the game, priorities and absurd damage all at once without the need to buff yourself to do so, it's not difficult to see iron boulder winning games for me due to his phenomenal speed which always will guarantee me safety, I believe that its real defect is unfortunately in its psychic properties combined with a low defense, making it weak against :kingambit: :samurott: and dependent on having to fight to have a chance, unless you manage to get the right turn for use close combat XD

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion:

The team is very aggressive, fast and direct, thanks to the double pivot double priority and triple booster energy, it is not an HO as there are ways to defend itself as is the case with garganacl, excellent hazard control since we have court change and rapid spinn in addition to performing well against :dragapult: and :gholdengo: thanks to :garganacl: after your tera, making the use of an eventual rapid spinn even easier, particularly this team I really liked, it has things outside the meta in it which makes me very happy playing because I always like to explore creativity and not take a sample of an HO or a brain dead stall and click buttons until I win the game because it's meta and good in general.
