Welcome to the latest edition of the Team Rater Competition! The tier this time around will be USM Monotype. For each round we'll post a team, and participants will have one week to complete a rate of said team. When the round is over, the participants who submitted the best rates will move onto the next round. If you are eliminated and want to receive feedback on your rate, the hosts will be more than happy to provide that upon request. Each round will last one week. Failure to rate the team within the one week time period will result in disqualification unless you're able to give us a valid reason. Please only sign up if you can commit to rating one team every week for the next month. If you're currently involved in or are looking to start rating Monotype teams, I highly encourage you to participate as this promises to be a great learning experience. Here's to a fun and competitive tournament!

Important notes:
  • The top two rates from each round in addition to the rates in the final round will count towards the Team Rater badge
  • Each round will last one week. Failure to rate the team within the one week time period will result in disqualification unless you're able to give us a valid reason. Please only sign up if you can commit to rating one team every week for the next month.
  • Please submit your rates to the hosts via Smogon conversation.
  • If you are eliminated and would like some feedback on your rate and how you can improve going forward, feel free to ask us.
  • At the end of each round, we will announce the best rate from that round and a quick overview of what we liked in the rates submitted.

Good luck to everyone!

Gallade-Mega (M) @ Galladite
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Zen Headbutt
- Knock Off

I decided to build around Mega Gallade as it is the most solid Mega available for Psychic teams. It also is a fantastic physical wallbreaker and setup Pokemon that allows me to easily break past Steel, Poison, and Normal teams defensive cores. Knock Off allows Mega Gallade to remove items such as defensive Mew's Leftovers and Landorus-T's Choice Scarf.

Latios (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Trick
- Defog

Latios is a good form of Speed control being able to outspeed all unboosted Pokemon in the metagame, really only not being able to outspeed Choice Scarf Greninja. Draco Meteor and Psyshock are fantastic STABs and the former is also helps in the Dragon matchup. Trick allows me to cripple walls such as Chansey and Porygon2 by replacing their Eviolite with a Choice Scarf. Defog allows me to clear hazards such as Stealth Rock and Toxic Spikes for the team.

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 176 SpD / 80 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Iron Head
- U-turn
- Toxic

Jirachi is the teams hazard setter and its part-Steel typing helps it with tons of resistances such as to Dragon, Steel, Normal, Grass, and Ice attacks. Iron Head + Toxic allows me to wear down the opposing teams and catch setup sweepers and walls off guard by putting them on a timer. Finally, U-turn allows Jirachi to safely bring in another teammate while chipping the foe.

Mew @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 148 SpD / 108 Spe
Careful Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt
- Roost
- Knock Off

Mew is the teams stallbreaker. With Knock Off + Taunt it prevents walls from doing their jobs. Knock Off also can allow Mew to wall more offensive Pokemon with ease such as Landorus. Will-O-Wisp allows Mew to cripple physical attackers such as Excadrill and Dragonite. Roost allows it to stay healthy through the match. Its speed allows it to cripple base 70 Pokemon such as Bisharp, Breloom, and Mega Swampert with Will-O-Wisp.

Alakazam @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Counter

Alakazam is the catch-all check to physical setup sweepers and an emergency Mega Sharpedo check. Thanks to Magic Guard + Focus Sash it can effectively use Counter, preventing physical setup sweepers from cleaning through the team. Focus Blast allows Alakazam to hit targets such as Hydreigon and Tyranitar. Shadow Ball allows Alakazam to hit Ghost and Psychic-type Pokemon such as Blacephalon and Latios for the team.

Celebi @ Groundium Z
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Giga Drain
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Celebi is a great special setup sweeper and I decided that it would be a good last slot. It provides the team with a Ground resistance, while being able to matchup nicely against Water and Steel teams. Hidden Power Fire allows it to hit Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn for damage. Groundium Z turns Earth Power into a powerful nuke and allows it to check Pokemon such as Alolan Muk and Heatran for the team.
