Project Monotype Team Building Workshop

Hi everyone, I didn't play monotype since Kyurem-Black ban, and I have to play an important tournament and I must play also montype. I had some teambuilding process, but I failed. My idea was an HO bug, with this core:
Volcarona @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Fiery Dance
- Bug Buzz / Giga Drain
- Psychic

Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Knock Off

Heracross @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Megahorn
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Spikes

If you can give me the team until 10 days, it would be amazing. Thank you very much and sorry for grammatical errors (I'm not english sorry).

Hi, I would like a team built around Blissey.
:ss/blissey:
Blissey has always been outclassed by Chansey for the last three generations, but thanks to the recent buff of Teleport and new addition in Heavy-Duty-Boots, it excels as a pivot. This allows Blissey to bring in Indeedee and Heliolisk safely, threatening types such as Fighting and Water. Normal is currently looking like an interesting type in Monotype, so I would like to try it out! For the Blissey set, something like this would be nice, but you could always change it:
Blissey (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 248 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Seismic Toss
- Soft-Boiled
- Toxic
- Teleport

If you could also try to fit Spikes Diggersby on the team, that would be nice. Additionally, I want the team to be as offensively oriented as possible while containing a solid defensive core, so walls like Porygon2 and such are also appreciated. Thanks!

Hello, I mostly played back in Gen 6 and 7 but I came back recently. I'd like to have a team built around SubSD Scolipede, and monopoison, since that was my main.

Scolipede @ Black Sludge / Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 Def
Jolly / Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- Megahorn
- Superpower / Earthquake / Stone Edge

I added a lot of slashes since I wanted to give the builder some room on what to pair it with. I'm not choosy on the teammates, so long as it's Poison. Thank you very much!

Hey there!
So I'm noticing a lack of love for my flying types out there. Maybe they just suck but I'd like to give them some love.
So my story is I'm technically a roleplayer looking to use a monotype team in world. However the more I think the more I'd like to use the team competitively too.
So a weirder request to be sure as the pokemon can be from any gen supposedly.
So creativity at the max I suppose
The only pokemon I know I have is
Togekiss (I dont know how to make it turn into a picture )
I was thinking too I'd also need a Charizard and/or Gyarados.

So there is my predicament I know very little about teams or good move choice so have at it.
Thanks for reading ✌

hey I would suggest asking in the main/general discussion forum for a quicker and more efficient response or online https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype considering this sounds more of a advice-type thing

Corviknight @ Leftovers

Mandibuzz (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Overcoat

Noivern @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Hurricane
- Switcheroo
- U-turn

As you requested I started off with Togekiss, I decided to use a Nasty Plot set since it a pain to face for balance and defensive builds like some variants of Water and Poison. For next partner I decided on using Charizard since it covers Steel-type Pokemon really well for Togekiss and makes sure that the Steel-type match up is favored for this team with a Choice Scarf set. I then added Corviknight to the team, originally I had Defog Corviknight here but as I completed the team I decided on using Bulk UP + Taunt Variant as a win condition. Next I needed a defensive counter part for Corviknight so I added Mandibuzz which also provides the team with a Psychic-type immunity and so Corviknight won't be overly pressured to switch into Psychic moves. Next I added Mantine to provide the team with a Water-type immunity and additional Defog support. It helps vs big threat like Draovish. Speed EVs on it ensure it outspeeds Adamant Belly Drum Azumarill so it can haze its boost away first, saving the team possibly from being swept. For the last slot, I decided on Choice Scarf Noivern mainly to help out vs Dragon-type teams as it has a good defensive core to fall back on after using Draco Meteor and continue claiming one kill every-time it comes in.
If you desire entry hazard, you can run Skarmory over Mandibuzz.

On another note, we will now do requests for Monotype of previous generations! So requests for gen8 till gen5 can now be accepted. Also welcome Maple to this project as a builder!

Rock as a type isn't common and you can win against rock using corviknight to annoy the team. As far as Electric is concerned yeah that is a mostly a loss at preview but I really didn't wanted to use Emolga, Instead I tried to focus on other match ups so the team can win vs a good number of types. If you face any issue or have any more questions then feel free to message me directly on my wall or through a pm.

I chose black sludge as the item for scolipede since life orb on subsd is honestly super dire in terms of actually sweeping because there’s so much recoil. Superpower is a decent option over megahorn if you want to cteam normal teams, which are one of poisons bad matchups nowadays due to obstagoon and diggersby, by ohkoing both along with megahorn. Some people are dropping braviary and just running heavy duty boots spam on normal which means scolipede kinda just wins after u pop a t spike to status the bewear. Salazzle is encore as it helps against setup, mainly sub user like hydei, kyurem, and Rotom h, and corrosion toxic is great for breaking the opposing team and making poison less passive. Salazzle can toxic walls like pex/galarian corsola/corvi that scolipede hate dealing with while scolipede can rack up toxic damage with sub. The rest of the team is p standard, pex+amoonguss forms the regenerator core. Pex is spdef for toxicing volcarona and amoonguss is physdef to take on Excadrill. The galarian weezing evs allow it to avoid the ohko from Azumarills +6 aqua jet while still having spdef for hydrei and sub kyurem. T spikes are great on this team with sub scolipede being able to use them to rack up damage so i opted for drap > skunk to fit them in(drap is the best t spiker on poison). Feel free to run max spdef on weezing if u wanna just play carefully around azu to ensure it doesn’t set up and not send in scolipede against fairy before it faints so it can’t get an opportunity for free. I hope u enjoy the team, pm me on any platform if you have any questions.

Trying to make a HO fairy team using sticky web slurpuff as a lead, any help is appreciated and it would be excellent to be able to know the thought process behind building a team like this.
Hey, I'm personally a big fan of Fairy in SS Monotype and I support your enthusiasm for it. I finished the team pretty quickly and I like how it turned out.

Cotton Candy Offense
:ss/slurpuff: :ss/tapu koko: :ss/tapu lele: :ss/togekiss: :ss/mimikyu: :ss/tapu bulu:
Importable

The first thing you might notice is that this team looks extremely fucking weird in comparison to traditional Fairy teams. Turning the type known for screens Klefki + Clefable offense into pure Sticky Web hyper offense means you're going to be changing a lot of stuff and tossing out Klefki which would otherwise be on all Fairy teams. You don't have room to fit Klefki on screens nor do you really need it. Slurpuff is pretty standard, with Misty Explosion giving you leeway against removal after setting Sticky Web. I minimized its defensive capabilities in order for it to drop to its Focus Sash quickly and activate Unburden.Tapu Koko and Tapu Lele are both fantastic offensive threats, but the unique part of this team is that they both have Taunt so that opposing Defog users can't remove Sticky Web. I'm personally a huge fan of Togekiss on Fairy because of how well it deals with Fairy's natural weaknesses like Steel, Poison, and Grass, while overall being a nice breaker against balance. The EV spread means you will never get your Substitute broken by specially defensive Heatran's Lava Plume which gives you outplay potential against Steel, while outspeeding specially defensive Drapion. Mimikyu is the spinblocker of the team and helps vs Rapid Spin users like Avalugg, Torkoal, and Excadrill to keep Sticky Web on the field. It's also a really good failsafe in a bunch of matchups because of Disguise. Tapu Bulu is an essential part of any Fairy team because of its solid defensive typing combined with its good offensive capabilities being key in matchups like Water, Ground, and Electric. Focus Sash may seem like a strange choice on Tapu Bulu, but I felt it was viable on hyper offense as a last ditch way to check something like Choice Specs Zapdos against Electric which gives you a winpath. I hope you have fun with the team, let me know how it goes. Since I can't fit Klefki onto this team, the team may be weak to Sludge Wave Thundurus-T, but the matchup should still be doable regardless and it's not on every Flying team.

I haven't really tried normal but I've been looking for an unusual type to try hazard stacking with, so I was wondering how one would make a hazard stacking team using diggersby to set spikes and maybe defiant obstagoon to punish defog.

:ss/diggersby: :ss/obstagoon: :ss/chansey: :ss/heliolisk: :ss/bewear: :ss/braviary:

Heya, I decided to take this request around Spikes Diggersby + Breaker Obstagoon. Diggersby in my eyes feels like it prevails mainly in one matchup and a lot of other matchups, like Poison and Steel, it's reliant on prediction to instantly wallbreak. Diggersby can opt for Swords Dance but the moves would be like Earthquake/Quick Attack/Fire Punch/Normal Move and honestly dropping one of these moves leaves you weak to something. I really like Obstagoon's Dark-typing and Guts + Obstruct gives instant wallbreaking capabilities improving matchups like Ghost, Steel, and Poison. Diggersby is using an Endeavor set with Quick Attack to hit defensive walls like Ferrothorn and Rotom-W for insane chip damage. I think Focus Sash is really nice in catching things like Choice Scarf Terrakion and Urshifu-R (clicks Close Combat). Chansey's poor viability is a bit of an exaggeration and I think Eviolite is really nice to switch into dangerous breakers like Tapu Lele and Kingdra. Heliolisk does nice against rain and I added Hyper Voice to target Landorus-T for a better Flying matchup. Bewear does well against Steel and Dark and its equipped with Rocky Helmet to do residual damage on things like Melmetal, Landorus-T, and Urshifu-R. Finally, Defensive Braviary allows you to scout sets of Urshifu (Choice Band vs Scarf) and Galarian Zapdos (Scarf vs Band) to mainly ease Heliolisk a bit in those matchups.

https://pokepast.es/0184ed0294cd7d9a Here is the importable.

Here are two replays showcasing the team:

Hello, I'm not sure if this is still active, but...if you guys have time can I request for a team built around Togekiss+Grimmsnarl? I currently find it that Fairy somehow has an awkward time with Ghosts (unless you manage to setup BD Azu, but when), Psychic (especially those kinds that aren't TR), and Grass (unless you have Togekiss, but even then Rilla can pick it off), so I think it would be nice if there was a team with both of them. I also want to try a Grimmsnarl that doesn't set screens all day, plus fairy has Klefki to set screens for it here unlike in dark, so it would be nice to see a Grimmsnarl smacking stuff owo

...If Togekiss + Grimmsnarl proves to be too ...bad (They're a bit low in the VR after all), a team built around just Grimmsnarl is fine too :psycry:

Thank you :3

this team is v slow naturally but its priority spam to make up for the lack of speed control. when u put togekiss and grimmsnarl on the same team it really straps fairy for slots so i just tried to compress roles. mimikyu is the first priority spammer, drain punch is mainly so that excadrill dies to it and sneak, but u can drop it for prough if dragon becomes an issue and u can still beat exca through prioriority spam. u can actually try out scarf mimikyu on this because its easy bait for toxapex and u can cripple a mon to let ur other setup spam mons pull through. tapu bulu is a specially defensive bulk up set to mess up stuff like psychic electric and poison. the evs mean galarian weezing's strange steam never break sub so u just bulk up and sweep. u can also try out sdance but u have to be careful around amoonguss seeing as fp breaks sub if sdance. togekiss is standard subnp and the spd means heatrans lava plume never breaks sub which makes it efficient vs steel. the speed evs are leftover and mean u can sub up on drapion and prevent lefties from getting knocked. grimmsnarl is a p standard bulk up set with drain punch to beat steel. this team is centered around setup spam that capitalizes a lot on certain mus; the balance types in particular and i hope u have fun w it!
