Welcome to the second Monotype Cup! The tournament will feature the 5 most recent Monotype metagames being SV, SS, SM, ORAS, and BW. The SV Monotype Cup will count towards the circuit, however, the old generation cups and the playoffs will not be included in Monotype's Ribbon Circuit.

The format starts with the regular season, which consists of five separate tournaments: The SV Monotype Cup, the SS Monotype Cup, the SM Monotype Cup, the ORAS Monotype Cup, and the BW Monotype Cup. The point system for the cups is the same as the one used in previous 5 format Smogon Grand Slam Tournaments (see this for further explanation). When all the Cups have been finished, the sixteen players with the most points will qualify for playoffs, where the battlers will duke it out in a single elimination bracket until the first Monotype Cup champion is crowned. The playoffs of this tournament will feature a cash prize!

• The ORAS Monotype Cup - Hosted by ken - February 19th
• The BW Monotype Cup - Hosted by Booty - February 19th

Only the SV cup will take place in the circuit tournaments forum, the other four cups will take place in the Monotype forum!

If a tier shift happens to occur during a round, it will not be taken into account until the following round. Be sure to join the Monotype Discord server if you have any questions or wish to ask a host about a decision. More information on the tournament, standings spreadsheet, and any other logistics will be edited here and posted about in the near future -- stay tuned!

The answers to all these questions are in the OP or the linked FAQ in the OP.

Points are calculated like in Smogon's Grand Slam.

The ORAS Cup and each other Cup will have matchups posted once their respective signups close, as they have for SV, SS, and SM. Rounds will usually be 1 week and in this time you will schedule with your opponent (a link to a guide to show you how is in the FAQ), play a best of 3, and if the round requires it, post the replays when/if you win. From there, you'll wait to advance to the next round after that round's deadline passes, when a new post tagging new matchups will be posted.

Some of you may notice a variance in your overall scores in the Monotype Cup tracker now. We applied a [*DNP] tag to people who faced byes, got activity, or won a coinflip. basically that tag means did not play, and it will grant no points for that round. however if you win the next round, you will receive the points for your activity call in the previous round. if you have two activity decisions in a row or more, and you win the next game, you will receive points for all the rounds. however if you lose immediately after activity calls, you will receive no points for the games.

Monotype Cup will now award the winner of the playoffs with a prize banner!
