Pet Mod Metamorphosis V2 - Slate 2: Galvantula, Altaria and Roserade

Metamorphosis V2

Welcome to Metamorphosis V2! This mod aims to create new form changing Pokemon. This will be achieved through new signature abilities/moves allowing their users to change form in-battle (so like Aegislash's forms, not like Giratina for example), with the goal of finding interesting ways to change form so that the actual mons end up being interesting to play.

This will be a micrometa including all Pokemon that we create, but no other. The Pokemon from the V1 will be kepts.

The submission phase will last a week and slates will focus on 3-4 mons chosen by the council.

You can give it up to 5 new moves (Including the form changing move if you make it a move)

If you make it an ability, you can either give it as a new one or replace an old one.

You may add up to 40 BST to the mon to make it more viable.

Both forms should have the same ability and a type in common, as well as the same HP stat.

You can add up to 60 BST between forms, and you are also allowed to remove as much BST as you want between forms (for example if you change Slow Start or Defeatist to be a form change)

Of course, submissions should stay balanced and should have fitting flavor .

If your submission can change between it's two forms very easily (like Aegislash), be sure that both have their uses and serve a purpose.

Some slates may enforce what makes the mon change form but they won't happen often.

Name: Diancie-Chatoyant
Form 1/Base Form Type: Rock / Fairy
Form 2 Type: Fighting / Fairy
Ability: Clear Body

Form 1/Base Form Stats: 50/100/150/100/150/50 (600 BST)
Form 2 Stats: 50/125/100/125/100/100 (600 BST)
New Moves: Cabochon Cut
Name: Cabochon Cut
Base Power: 80
Accuracy: 100%
PP: 10 (Max 16)
Category: Special
Type: Fairy
Effect: The user's changes to their Defence stat are converted into changes to their Special Defence stat, and vice versa (for example; if Diancie has +2 Def and -5 SpD, using Cabochon Cut will turn it into -5 Def and +2 SpD). If the user is Diancie, transforms Diancie into Diancie-Chatoyant. This transformation is not permanent (ie if Diancie-C leaves the field it will revert back to its base form)
Priority: 0
Flags: Protect, Mirror, Contact

Description: A very funky mixed sweeper. Basically you stockpile Calm Minds, then click Cabochon Cut to convert those into Body Press boosts and start sweeping. Base form still exists as a nice Stealth Rocker, but Cabochon Cut gives it a chance to shine offensively with a unique way of setting up and an equally unique STAB combo that benefits very well from Diamond Storm's Defence boosts and coverage

Flavour-wise, Diancie-Chatoyant is based off chatoyancy; an optical effect that produces a thin band of light, similar to a cats eye, beneath the surface of a cabochon cut gemstone. Diancie-Chatoyant is a diamond catgirl and you literally cannot convince me otherwise.

:bw/flygon:
Name: Flygon-Chaser
Form 1/Base Form Type: Ground / Dragon
Form 2 Type: Ghost / Dragon
Ability: Levitate

Form 1/Base Form Stats: 80/100/80/80/80/100 (520 BST)
Form 2 Stats: 80/133/85/80/85/117 (580 BST)
New Moves: Ambush, Shadow Sneak
Name: Ambush
Base Power: 40
Accuracy: 100%
PP: 10 (Max 16)
Category: Physical
Type: Ghost
Effect: Power doubles if the target has switched this turn (same activation as Stakeout); under the same circumstances, if the user is Flygon, transforms into Flygon-Chaser (ideally before dealing damage lol). This forme change is permanent (ie will persist after Flygon-C switches out)
Priority: 0
Flags: Protect, Mirror, Contact

Description: Ok so basically uhhhhh Very Powerful Mon that is gated behind a Less Powerful Mon. You kinda want to switch this into something that really wants to switch out vs it so that you can apply a lot of pressure thanks to Ambush and the threat of unleashing Flygon-Chaser. Having a Normal type in your team is a pretty good way of dissuading it from clicking Ambush since the forme transformation doesn't activate if the target is immune to Ambush. I forget if the tier has any normal types atm so just pretend we do x

Flavour-wise Flygon-Chaser is based off the whole "desert elemental spirit", with it essentially being an angry spirit. It's also just an ambush predator that, after concealing itself in the sandstorms it creates, then ambushes its prey and chases them down mercilessly. So that's pretty fun ig

New Moves: Ascension, Knock Off, Moonblast, Glare, Play Rough
Name: Ascension
Base Power: --
Accuracy: --
PP: 10 (Max 16)
Category: Status
Type: Fairy
Effect: If the user is Flygon-Pharaoh, increase Atk, SpA, and Spe by 1 stage and transform into Flygon-Ascendant (reverts upon switching out). If the user is not Flygon-Pharaoh, it switches out and lowers the opponent's Spe by 1 stage.
Priority: 0
Description: Flygon-Pharaoh and Flygon-Ascendant are two halves of an incredibly powerful pivot and sweeper. Flygon-Pharaoh, while objectively worse, is the only Pokemon capable of gaining the stat boost from Ascension. After Ascension, Flygon simply becomes a much better Pokemon, with a fantastic typing, a great movepool, and suddenly pretty great stats to back it up. It also provides excellent utility with Flygon classics such as pivoting and Defog, as well as new additions, namely Knock, Glare and a Speed drop attatched to a pivoting move.

Description: Flygon has gained a buff with better bulk and access to Stealth Rock, which makes its base a solid offensive Pokemon or utility Pokemon. Its Climate form is faster and stronger and with its signature move in Tameless, it can also boost its Special Attack. The boost is rather unimpressive, but with a Critical Hit buff and a potential move buff under weather, it can puncha significant hole in the opponents team. Fire Spin is generally there for flavor, but Weather Ball gives it either a good coverage move in Sand or a strong nuke in Rain or Sun.

Effect: If the user is Cobalion, adds the Charge effect and transforms into Cobalion-Voltage. If the user isn't Cobalion, raises Accuracy by 1 stage.

Description: Cobalion now becomes much more offensive in comparison with it's base form, gaining a good buff in it's attacks and speed, which was traded for a lost in HP and Def. Cobalion-Voltage acts as a Mixed Attacker, with powerful moves such as Close Combat, Zing Zap, Thunderbolt, Focus Blast, Thunder and Stone Edge, with the last three now gaining an Acc buff from Alternate Current. It also works as a Fast support for it's team, being able to set-up Stealth Rocks, paralyze opponents with Thunder Wave and pivot-out with Volt Switch, now gaining a STAB bonus.

Effect: Deals damage based on the target's Special Defense. If user is Cobalion, changes form to Cobalion-Punished for the rest of the battle before damage calculation.
Description: Punished Cobalion is a quick and physically Bulky Pivot/Sweeper that can deal Physical and Special damage off of 1 attacking stat. Parting Shot lets it scout out opponent's moves and bring in allies more safely.
Also Iron Defense+Body Press is now an option for Cobalion. Don't know why it can't learn the move in swsh.

First of all, welcome to Metamorphosis! This is a pretty neat sub, though there’s one small issue with it; Scourge Sword isn’t really an in-battle transformation move - it’s more in line with Giratina’s alternate formes than it is, say, Aegislash’s. This isn’t something that’s clarified in the OP so I apologise for the confusion, but Metamorphosis’s aim is primarily to explore in-battle forme changes such as the aforementioned Aegislash’s, as well as Darmanitan’s and Mimikyu’s for example. Forme changes such as this are not permitted unfortunately.

Fortunately, the solution to this issue is incredibly simple: just change Scourge Sword to activate the forme change when used. Either that or give Cobalion some other other way to forme change - you can use other submissions as a reference if necessary. If you need any help or have any questions then we have a Discord server linked in the OP, or you can PM any of our council members (or simply post a message on our profiles!)

This isn't really a veto, but changing the HP of submissions isn’t currently legal (again, this isn’t something that was mentioned in the OP so apologies for the confusion here) - the only in-game example of forme changes also changing their base HP is with Zygarde, where its HP is perfectly doubled (or quadrupled in Zygarde-10%'s case). Simply add the 10 HP back, cheers x

24 hours will be given to allow users to correct their vetoed subs, then voting will begin!

Description: Galvantula is now an apex predator that paralyzes its prey before fatally striking them with a leeching bite. In base form it remains looking like a regualr harmless spider then turns into a dark tarantula with long muscular legs and an aggressive personality with demanding red eyes in its predator form. Gets some fighting moves for coverage and it’s big legs would be powerful for hitting things. Bulk Up sets could be nice for this, especially being able to fit a paralyzing utility is move and big nuke recovery move in the same slot.

Effect: This attack charges on the first turn and executes on the second (displaying the message "<name> is conjuring up a storm!" on the first turn). Doubles the power of the user's Electric-type attacks for three turns on the first turn (similar to Charge). If the user is holding a Power Herb, the move completes in one turn.

At the start of the second turn, if the user is an Altaria in Calm Sky Form, it changes to Stormbringer Forme before this move executes. This forme change is immediate if the user is holding a Power Herb. This forme change does not happen if the Altaria has the Sheer Force Ability. Altaria will remain in Stormbringer Forme for the rest of the battle.
Priority: 0
Flags: Charge, Mirror, Protect
Description: I thought it’d be neat to do a delayed forme change tho you’ll prolly run herb anyway. Basically Heart of the Storm does mundo damage and changes Altaria into a fearsome special breaker after one turn. Dragon/Elec has useful resists along with solid bulk and Roost, giving the Stormbringer forme some longevity. A Ground might wanna switch in to its strong Electric attacks but Ice Beam can put a stop to those pesky Grounds. Base forme now has a bunch more Attack and actual Flying STAB, it’s prolly not bad at pulling off DD or Band.

Category: Special (Sound-based)
Type: Dragon
Effect: If the user is Altaria, cures the user’s status conditions and transforms it into Altaria-Argent (transformation reverts on switch)
Priority: 0
Description: One of the aspects of Altaria in its dex entries that I thought could be explored is how it’s very good at singing. The form change was my attempt to expand on this, turning Altaria’s “sopranos” into something akin to heavy-metal singing (hence the form being called Altaria-Argent), as both sopranos and to an extent metal music are known for their vocals. Being able to remove its own status while setting up with CM + Throat Spray sets means it can be a pretty dangerous wincon when given the chance, especially considering its access to Roost and ways to deal with status through its Reprisal and Natural Cure. Defensive sets regarding both forms might also be possible, but I’m not quite as certain on their viability.

Priority: 0
Description: Somewhat fast wincon / option to remove key threats due to Web Trap. Being able to isolate and remove a key threat while keeping itself relatively healthy due to the Leech Seed and its fantastic bulk and typing when transforming alongside options to both set up(Charge Beam, CM, Iron Defense + Press) and cripple opponents further (Struggle Bug, Disable, Sticky Web, Electroweb) means this is a pretty strong option to have defensively.

Form 2 Stats: 60 / 70 / 95 / 135 / 105 / 100 {BST: 565}
New Moves: +Earth Power
Description: After thinking about it more, I've changed the ability to be more similar to something like Power Construct since I think my original concept for this one was pretty ridiculous. This Pokemon acts as a blend between offensive and defensive capabilities due to the ability and its access to hazards, recovery and Leech Seed as well as Poison, Grass and Ground coverage

Description: An excellent hazard stacker and rapid spinner, able to compress both roles into one moveslot with ease. Also comes with a pretty good SpA and extra utility in Knock Off and Encore

Flavour-wise it’s just based off actors and stagehands. Idk what else to tell you

:bw/galvantula:
Name: Galvantula-Bloated
Form 1/Base Form Type: Electric / Bug
Form 2 Type: Electric / Bug
Ability: Compound Eyes / Unnerve / Swarm

Form 1/Base Form Stats: 70/77/60/97/60/108 (472 BST)
Form 2 Stats: 70/77/100/117/100/28 (492 BST)
New Moves: Overfeed, Recover
Name: Overfeed
Base Power: 150
Accuracy: 100%
PP: 5 (Max 8)
Category: Special
Type: Bug
Effect: Fails if the target does not have a non-volatile status. If the user is Galvantula, permanently transforms into Galvantula-Bloated after successful use
Priority: 0
Flags (ex: Contact, Sound): Contact

Description: Galvantula can now function as an incredibly powerful support mon, utilising either a fast Sticky Webs set or a more tanky status spreading Overfeed set. Though it becomes far, far slower, Galvantula-Bloated gains an enormous amount of bulk to compensate, while also pressuring opponents with Overfeed's nuclear damage

Galvantula-Bloated is based off the multiple Pokédex entries about how it consumes immobilised prey. Obviously this is referring to paralysis but only making Overfeed activate on paralysis sounds obnoxious lol

:bw/altaria:
Name: Altaria-Tropical
Form 1/Base Form Type: Dragon / Flying
Form 2 Type: Fire / Flying
Ability: Updraft Drift
The user is immune to Rock-type attacks, including Stealth Rock damage. Upon being ’hit’ by a Rock-type move, or switching in on Stealth Rocks without Boots, user permanently transforms into Altaria-Tropical

Form 1/Base Form Stats: 105/70/80/70/105/80 (510 BST)
Form 2 Stats: 105/80/60/110/105/60 (530 BST)
New Moves: None

Description: A funky special wall that can also keep hazards off the field thanks to the threat of Altaria-T. Fire/Flying without the threat of Stealth Rock is great defensively and offensively, though the need for SR to be up in order to transforms severely limits Altaria-T’s efficiency. Idk it’s just a funny lil fella

Flavour-wise Altaria-Tropical is based off tropical storms, cumulonimbus clouds, and hot towers x
