Media Metalheads Thread III

Want some suggestions for possible artists/bands.
Here's who I currently listen to; Iron Maiden, Blind Guardian, Megadeth, Avantasia, Rhapsody, Dragon Force, Beast In Black.
Since you like Maiden and power metal, here are some of my favorite corresponding albums

Mercyful Fate - Melissa / Don't Break the Oath
Adramelch - Irae Melanox
Dark Quarterer - self titled
Jag Panzer - Ample Destruction
Siren - No Place Like Home
Helloween - self titled / Keeper of the Seven Keys (both parts)
Fates Warning - Awaken the Guardian
Warlord - Deliver Us / And the Cannons of Destruction Have Begun
The Lord Weird Slough Feg - Down Among the Deadmen

Since you like Megadeth (not this is "pure thrash" or whatever, and much of it has a more extreme metal lean, but don't worry about that)

Slayer - Show No Mercy / Haunting the Chapel / Hell Awaits / Reign in Blood
Vektor - Black Future / Outer Isolation / Terminal Redux
Vio-lence - Eternal Nightmare
Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death
Bathory - Under the Sign of the Black Mark
Destruction - Infernal Overkill
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
Exodus - Bonded by Blood
Razor - Violent Restitution
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Demolition Hammer - Epidemic of Violence
Exhorder - Slaughter in the Vatican
Coroner - Mental Vortex
Vulcano - Bloody Vengeance
Slaughter - Strappado

If this were 8 years ago I'd have been able to give more in-depth metal recs. Ah well.

I recommend these:
  • Annihilator - Alice in Hell
  • Gama Bomb - Citizen Brain
  • Municipal Waste - Massive Aggressive
  • Children of Bodom - Something Wild
  • Sepultura - Beneath the Remains
I'm looking for new gothic metal bands with strong female vocals. Albums I loved a lot recently:
  • Epica - Omega
  • Theatre of Tragedy - Velvet Darkness They Fear
  • Mandragora Scream - Fairy Tales From Hell's Cave (absolute classic)
  • Draconian - Under a Godless Veil
  • Therion - Leviathan
I'm also looking for new doom / avant-garde bands. Albums I enjoyed a lot recently:
  • Subrosa - No Help for the Mighty Ones
  • Alcest - Spiritual Instinct
  • Saturnus - Veronika Decides to Die
  • Lantlos - Melting Sun

I also really like Agalloch and Empyrium if it helps.

I think you would really like the following, they cover a lot of different ground but based on what you've mentioned they should be of interest:

Chelsea Wolfe - Abyss
Sigh - Imaginary Sonicscape
Ulver - Bergtatt
Windir - Arntor / 1184
Melechesh - Emissaries
Moonsorrow - Verisäkeet
Primordial - A Journey's End
Ensiferum - self titled
Negură Bunget - OM
Diablo Swing Orchestra - (any of the) first 3
Sentenced - North From Here

Just came home from a Misþyrming concert. If any of you get a chance to see them live, I'd highly recommend it. Some of the best stage presence I've ever seen.

Damn, that song was the shit in 2005 when I was playing need for speed most wanted at the time. Lots of good memories from that game.
Celldweller has always been a fantastic and underrated artist imo.
Idk if you've listened to any of his later stuff, but it's definitely worth checking out. Stuff like End of an Empire from 2015 or even his newest album from a few years ago

New Black Veil Brides dropped, they covered Sisters of Mercy with Ville Valo from HIM featuring on the track; it's kinda goth and I love it

does anyone have any suggestions/recs to get into more extreme metal? I already have long crossed the bridge of not minding uncleans (children of bodom and opeth are my two most listened to bands in general lol), but have a harder time finding consistency in enjoying harsher music that doesn't immediately give melodies to attach to or stuff along those lines
