[SET COMMENTS]
Set Description
=========

  • It's a normal resist, lets you not lose to Snorlax
  • Pursuit trapping Deo-A is hype
  • EVs let you live 2 CB Deo-A Shadow Balls after a singular Spike
  • 116 Attack EVs OHKOes 4 HP Latios at +1 Attack
  • Rest in Special Defense to help combat Spell Tag Fire Punch Deo-A, Thunder Deo-A, various other special attacks from stuff like Latios or Kyogre in a pinch

Team Options
========

  • use good pokemon lol
  • but especially good pokemon latios because it deals with kyogre and can check groudon
  • you can stack explosions to really limit your opponent's defensive options

move 1: Meteor Mash
move 2: Hidden Power Fire
move 3: Explosion
move 4: Pursuit
item: Leftovers

[SET COMMENTS]
Set Description
=========

  • Use it in Sun to pick off Forretress or Skarmory
  • HP Fire makes you worse off against opposing Metagross and Kyogre (and Raikou)
  • EVs allow you to KO any Forretress in the Sun with Meteor Mash + Hidden Power Fire

Team Options
========

  • Use a Groudon
  • latios is my friend and i love him

[SET]
name: Choice Band
move 1: Meteor Mash
move 2: Earthquake
move 3: Explosion
move 4: Pursuit / Rock Slide
item: Choice Band
ability: Clear Body
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Set Description
=========

  • Hits really hard, not the best normal resist, still gets the job done
  • Can consider an EV spread that outspeeds slow Groudon sets to get the jump on them and 2HKO, helps that having CB will hide your speed stat from them (double-edged sword)
  • If you choose to use Rock Slide instead of Pursuit, running a fast Metagross to surprise Ho-Oh with Rock Slide is nifty

Team Options
========

  • put it on offense
  • use a latios please
  • have a ho-oh answer homie

[SET]
name: Agility
move 1: Meteor Mash
move 2: Explosion
move 3: Agility
move 4: Pursuit / Earthquake / Rock Slide

[SET COMMENTS]
Set Description
=========

  • it's metagross but it goes fast
  • it's a sweeper that resists normal :OOOOOO
  • meteor mash goes stupid
  • pursuit if u want to function like a normal metagross
  • eq if you like hitting steels
  • rock slide if you hate ho-oh's existence in the adv ubers metagame

Team Options
========

  • offense probably lol
  • use jay jay the jet plane
  • be able to break the really fat mons that you can't bust through, lugia especially

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Toxic cripples Pokemon that would switch into Meteor Mash, such as Kyogre, Lugia, or Ho-oh. However, since Pokemon such as Forretress and Skarmory are some of Metagross's best answers, if Sun is not set, it will be tricky to catch the intended targets of Toxic.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Kyogre**: Kyogre resists Meteor Mash, takes negligible damage from Hidden Power Fire, and threatens a large amount of damage onto Metagross with Surf or Hydro Pump. It does have to be wary of an Explosion, though.

**Ho-Oh**: Ho-Oh takes minimal damage from all of Metagross's attacks except for Explosion and Rock Slide and can fire back with a Sacred Fire that is potent even in Rain.

**Groudon**: While Groudon does not actually OHKO Metagross with Earthquake, The large amount of damage that Metagross would incur from taking an Earthquake is enough to threaten it sufficiently. Since Metagross will live an Earthquake from full health, Explosion can force a trade with Groudon, however, Substitute and Choice Band variants of Groudon will prevent this from happening. Groudon has to be careful when switching into Metagross, as Meteor Mash will 2HKO Specially Defensive variants of Groudon a large majority of the time, and Physically Defensive variants can be put at risk after a small amount of their health has been removed.

**Lugia**: Lugia takes next to no damage from all of Metagross's attacks, and can set up a Reflect to block a lot of Explosion's potential damage. Recover prevents Lugia from potentially being overwhelmed by Metagross, as it will heal off any damage Metagross inflicts to it. Pressure halves Meteor Mash's already small amount of PP. Lugia does have to be wary of the occasional Toxic from Metagross though, as that will severely hinder its longevity.

**Skarmory**: Skarmory will shrug off of all of Metagross's attacks, except for a Hidden Power Fire in the Sun and Explosion. Skarmory does not do much direct damage to Metagross, so it is reliant on being able to phase it using Whirlwind with Spikes down to inflict meaningful damage upon it. Skarmory also sets up a layer of Spikes every time it switches into Metagross, making progress on Metagross's grounded teammates.

**Forretress**: Forretress only needs to fear a Hidden Power Fire when Rain is not set and will otherwise lay down Spikes layers or chip away at Metagross with an Earthquake of its own. Forretress should be careful though, as a lack of recovery outside of Leftovers will lead to it being overwhelmed.

**Protect**: Protect on any Pokemon will nullify Metagross's most valuable tool: Explosion.
