Overview
Magnezone has a very powerful trapping ability that is unique to the Magnezone line; Magnet Pull. This gives Magnezone a niche in trapping UU's resident Steel Types such as Bronzong, Tinkaton and Bisharp. Magnezone also has some funny interactions with mons who may want to Terastallize into Steel, as they now are liable to be trapped by Magnezone. This can include Hatterene and Haxorus although you need a Flying Tera, creating a 50/50 between Outrage or Close Combat. With a Ground Tera, you can also trap Forretress although Forretress isn't a valuable mon to trap and it would much prefer the tera types of Flying for a Ground Immunity and Fighting Resist for mons such as Lucario, Gallade, Sandy Shocks and Donphan. Magnezone can support mons such as Espathra, Gengar and Haxorus who appreciate counterplay from these steel types being removed. Magnezone's natural typing also allows it to check Fairies such as Azumarill and Mimikyu. As mentioned before, Magnezone can struggle with Fighting, Fire and Ground types, as it forces you to use your Tera to try and beat them as well as other mons who can block Magnezones pivotting options. This includes Quagsire, Gastrodon, Sandy Shocks and Kilowattrel who resist both stabs, Hippowdon, Donphan, Salazzle, Armarogue and Arcanine, although those last 3 cannot switch in.

Potiential Sets

IronPress @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Def / 176 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Volt Switch
- Protect

Alternatively; to take advantage of mons like Tinkaton when you have trapped them you can use this set suggested by AndViet

Magnezone @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Thunderbolt
- Substitute

Iron Press Magnezone allows it to shrug off damage from the likes of Bronzong, Tinkaton and Bisharp, boost up Body Press and KO them after a few hits (one hit in Bisharps case. Protect allows Magnezone to gain leftovers recovery and Volt Switch allows it to pivot for you after it has done is job and removed a steel for you. 176 Speed EV's is also ran to outspeed Adamant Azumarill so you can hit it with a Volt Switch. This set is notable for being able to threaten on both special and physical attacks, which can help it still be threatening vs mons such as Blissey.

Magnezone @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Flash Cannon
- Tri Attack/Body Press

Choice Specs is Magnezones other option, using its 130 SpA stat to break the steel types it is meant to trap. This set can be troublesome to wall without the correct mons such as Gastrodon, as mons such as Quagsire who will normally wall IronPress Variants now find themselves 2hko'd by Tri Attack. However, with Tri Attack you cannot hit fat special walls such as Blissey, so you can choose Body Press to still hit these mons for decent damage.

Sample Team

:quagsire: :brambleghast: :scream-tail: :magnezone: :espathra: :grafaiai:

This team uses Magnezone to trap otherwise troubling Steel types that could potientially stop an Espathra sweep such as Tinkaton, Bronzong and Bisharp and remove them, with Espathra only now having to worry about opposing Grafaiai. Quagsire + Brambleghast provide all the team needs hazard and hazard control wise. Scream Tail and Grafarai are also great at dealing with other Espathra and Gengar.

of the opinion personally that there's little reason to run ID press over stuff like specs until espathra leaves at least, a lot of ladder tinkatons run encore rn and you still beat them no matter what the set is with offensive sets but don't wanna get locked into a garbage move with id press so are gonna just click thunderbolt anyway into unrevealed tink: specs just has a lot more offensive potential in general with not many actual defensive answers outside of gastrodon as a generic wallbreaker so just does a lot more outside of the trapping mus.

Magnezone was lethal when Baxcalibur was still around, but still great at eliminating basically all the steel types except Lucario. It has good bulk and a shit ton of resistances so it is easy to switch in. It's lack of coverage and speed mean it is pretty easily walled outside of Tera blast. With the specs set can surprise a lot of things and hit really hard. It can be a very valuable asset on certain teams and can really put work in.
