Typing:
Rock

Base Stats:
75 HP / 117 Atk / 65 Def / 55 SpA / 65 SpD / 110 Spe
Ability: Tough Claws (Boosts the power of contact moves by 1.5x)
Notable Moves: Stone Edge, Close Combat, Accelerock, Swords Dance, Psychic Fangs, Crunch, Sucker Punch, Outrage, Stealth Rock, Endeavor

Pros / Good Qualities:
  • A high 117 Attack Stat paired with an excellent ability in Tough Claws makes Lycanroc-D an excellent offensive wallbreaker, capable of shredding the likes of Tinkaton, Rotom-W, Wo-Chien and Salamence.
  • Access to two forms of strong Tough Claws-boosted priority in Accelerock and Sucker Punch allow Lycanroc-D to revenge kill even faster offensive threats like Kilowattrel, Noivern and Scarf Gengar
  • Amazing coverage options such as Psychic Fangs, Play Rough, Crunch and Close Combat, all boosted by Tough Claws, allows Lycanroc-D to change up what it can beat to suit the team.
  • Terastallising Lycanroc-D is an excellent use of the mechanic, as doubling your STAB boost on Stone Edge and Accelerock makes Lycanroc-D extremely hard to switch into, and potentially terastallising into a Fighting-type allows it to dish out some of the strongest Close Combat's possible.
  • With access to Stealth Rock and Endeavor, Lycanroc-D can even be used as a suicide lead for HO teams, being able to set rocks reliably while still being able to dish out powerful moves, though this set is generally considered a waste of a perfectly good dog.
Cons / Shortcomings:
  • While Lycanroc is an incredibly strong Pokemon, it's also very very frail, and with a Life Orb it slowly chips away more and more at its health, so players have to be wary of its defenses, or lack thereof.
  • Lycanroc-D often has to choose between rocking a Choice Band and therefore being locked into one move at a time, or Life Orb where it struggles to find opportunities to properly clean up a game due to its lower strenght, and SD sets must find a reliable time to set up

Lycanroc-D is a pretty threatening sweeper once it gets a boost in. It even has its own priority which can make it a little more difficult to revenge kill. There are only a few pokemon that can actually take its attacks at +2 such as Quagsire and HIppowdon. More commonly through it gets taken down by First Impression or a scarfer though. It can be a little challenging to set up though due to its poor defensive typing and frailty however. Definitely one of the scarier threats to prepare for.
