In a tier as rich and diverse as Little Cup, it can sometimes be difficult to pick the perfect Pokemon to fill a certain role on your team; newcomers might use ineffective or suboptimal Pokemon, and established players may find themselves in a Mienfoo / Koffing / Pawniard rut! This is the central issue behind the creation of the LC Role Compendium! The following post will visually showcase the various Pokemon in Little Cup that fulfill given roles, from entry hazard support to Dragon Dance sweepers and beyond! Each major section will cover a general role that a Pokemon can carry out, while its subsequent subsections will give a specific list of Pokemon that can accomplish the given role. This compendium will hopefully improve the diversity of teams and prompt discussion on new roles that certain Pokemon can undertake. Feel free to discuss whether a Pokemon should be added to or removed from a certain role; however, please refrain from discussing the order of a given subsection unless something is wildly off! The subsections are listed roughly in order of viability, so if you have any problems with placement, that discussion is probably better suited for the Viability Rankings thread. For now, though, enjoy the roles compendium!

Thanks for making this thread, I'm quite new to LC so this thread will definitely help me a lot while building
I have some suggestions of additions (I'm sorry if some are incorrect or silly)

Speed Boost addition on Speed related roles (It's already on Set up sweepers but maybe it could be here)
:Carvanha: :Venipede: Both are on VR and Carvanha has seen a lot of usage climbing from C- to B+ on VR.

Pivot moves users
:Porygon: Porygon has access to Teleport and has even an analysis written with Teleport as a set.

:Larvesta: Larvesta has access to U-turn and I guess it's a mandatory move on it.

Trappers
:Porygon: Porygon can reverse trap Diglett and Trapinch with Trace. I don't know if it counts as trapping tho.

Weather abusers (Hail)
:sandshrew-alola: Sandshrew-Alola has Slush Rush as an ability

Hazards setters (Toxic Spikes)
:Venipede: :Koffing: :Omanyte: It's probably not really common or good since most teams run a Poison-type, but idk it still exists.

Abra checks (Offensive)
:Meowth: Fake Out KOs Abra and if it's running Protect you're able to Feint twice. Although if it's sash or it gets the prediction right it just loses.

Pawniard checks (Offensive)
:Timburr: Timburr has fighting stab and although it's slower it has access to Mach Punch.

Ground checks (Defensive)
:Grookey: Grookey provides Grassy Terrain although it can't take any other hits well.

Yeah thank you for the suggestions, it’s obviously not perfect from the start and I appreciate all the input I can get to edit it, but I’ll do it in a couple of days anyway so I can edit all at once if possible (else im gonna die typing lol)

about some specific things

Speed Boost addition on Speed related roles (It's already on Set up sweepers but maybe it could be here)
I thought about it but idt carvanha counts as a speed control per se really, it needs to waste a turn w protect in order to do so. Itd be like saying agility porygon is speed control

Porygon has teleport and larvesta has uturn
Noted, totally forgot about these lol

sanshrew-a as a hail abuser
Yeah you see theres a snover there but it should be a sandshrew im just dumb

put a toxic spikes section
i dont think theyre relevant enough to warrant a section, theres no role for them to cover, it kinda would only mislead newer players to think theyre good

this checks this mon this way
I shouldve put this in the op, i think i will, but my guidelines? for these were that i considered a check something reliable at doing beating a mon. If the mon is defensive and/or is able to switch into the mon and win the 1v1, its a defensive check. If its an offensive mon and/or it cant switch in but wins the 1v1 by outspeeding and killing or living a hit and killing, its an offensive check. Bc of this idt theyd fit those categories but rather the ones theyre in
