National Dex Ubers KILL | Choice Scarf Yveltal [QC 2/2] [GP 1/1]

Not open for further replies.

Foul Play makes Yveltal an excellent revenge killer against many offensive teams, being able to use the Attack boosts of Pokemon such as Swords Dance Arceus formes, Primal Groudon, and Necrozma-DM against them to break right through them before they have the chance to cause major damage. Dark Pulse is a consistent and strong Dark-type STAB move if a more consistent damage output is required.

* Oblivion Wing allows Yveltal to reliably revenge kill Marshadow and maintain its health somewhat. Roost may be used to keep itself healthy as well, but locking into it can be risky against many teams.

* Defog allows Yveltal to be one of the best solutions to hyper offense teams in the tier, clearing entry hazards extremely early due to how many switches it forces with Foul Play, notably not having its Speed dropped by Sticky Web. If its team already has a Defogger, Toxic may be chosen to punish support Arceus formes more consistently.

* U-turn allows Yveltal to better take advantage of Pokemon that switch in like defensive Eternatus, Arceus-Dark, and Arceus-Fairy to maintain momentum for its team.

* The given EV spread allows Yveltal to outspeed fully invested base 95s such as Rayquaza or Kyurem-B and live a boosted Outrage from Dragon Dance Ultra Necrozma, allowing it to revenge(rh) kill with either Foul Play or Dark Pulse with the rest being dumped into Special Attack to strengthen Oblivion Wing.

* Tera Dark allows Yveltal to OHKO +3 Zacian-C with Foul Play and removes its Stealth Rock weakness; however, Tera Steel is also a good option to allow Yveltal to become much more resilient against the likes of Extreme Killer Arceus while also turning its Stealth Rock and Fairy-type weaknesses into resistances.

* Because Yveltal is still quite bulky and is able to punish foes even if they boost, it is best to use Yveltal proactively rather than reactively to keep setup sweepers in check by bringing it in on predicted setup moves or to take a hit and fire back with Foul Play.

* Yveltal fits very well on offensive teams where its short-term utility and late-game cleaning prowess are put on full display, being able to almost singlehandedly shut down entire hyper-offense teams that such structures otherwise have trouble against, and trade blows with surprise sweepers that may otherwise run away with the game.

* Alternative Defoggers like Arceus-Ground or Giratina-O are great teammates on such teams, matching up very well against the tier's best Stealth Rock setters and keeping hazards off for Yveltal to stay as healthy as possible throughout a game.

* Offensive Necrozma-DM and Primal Groudon variants are also notable partners, being able to take advantage of the many switches Yveltal forces and the common Fairy-types Yveltal will find itself luring in for a safe setup opportunity, allowing Yveltal to clean up later. Furthermore, they are capable of setting up Stealth Rock in order to further facilitate Yveltal in the late-game, as Yveltal greatly appreciates the prior damage on foes such as support Arceus formes and Eternatus to more easily clean up games.

  • Foul Play makes Yveltal an excellent revenge killer VS Many many offensive teams, being able to use the Attack boosts of Pokemon such as Rayquaza Mega Salamence Ray is more niche, Swords Dance Arceus Forms formes, Primal Groudon, and Necrozma Dusk Mane Necrozma-DM against them to break right through them before they even have the chance to cause major damage. Dark Pulse is a consistent, strong option as a STAB move if Yveltal's cleaning prowess is desired to be more consistent.
  • Oblivion Wing allows Yveltal to reliably revenge kill Marshadow, and maintain its health somewhat provide recovery, Roost may be considered to keep itself healthy as well, but locking into it VS many teams is highly unideal it's far more passive given the choice lock.
  • Defog allows Yveltal to be one of the most best solutions VS Hyper Offense hyper offense teams in the tier, stuffing out hazards before they even get the chance to properly abuse them Eh? Moving before a hazard setter is bad as then they can just keep setting hazards until you run out of PP, die to recoil damage from Toxic or switch, especially as then it can't do anything else out of the choice lock, it'd be better to highlight it removing them before being a Taunt victim or KOed, as well as notably not having their speed its Speed dropped by Sticky Web. If the team already has a consistent Defogger, Toxic may be chosen to punish Support support Arceus formes and Xerneas more consistently.
  • U-turn allows Yveltal to better take advantage of Pokemon that it would otherwise give safe switch-ins hyphen added to like Defensive defensive Eternatus, Xerneas, or and Arceus-Fairy, hyphen and comma added and maintain momentum.
  • The given EV spread allows Yveltal to outspeed fully invested +1 base 95s such as Rayquaza or Kyurem Black Kyurem-B with its Choice Scarf intact, and live a +1 Outrage from Dragon Dance Ultra Necrozma so that it may retalite revenge kill with either Foul Play or Dark Pulse. The rest being dumped into Special Attack to beef up Oblivion Wing.
  • Tera Dark allows Yveltal to achieve the surprising feat of outright unecessary commentary OHKOing a +3 Zacian Crowned Zacian-C with Foul Play even through its resistance, as well as shedding its Stealth Rock weakness, however, Tera Steel is also a good option to allow Yveltal to become much more sound into the likes of Extreme Killer Arceus, while also turning its Stealth Rock, and Fairy-type hyphen added weaknesses into a resistances. Teras mitigating Yveltal's weakness to Stealth Rock should be its own separate bullet point, to minimize redundancy, in particular Tera Steel being mentioned as the best one for that, especially for Defog sets
  • Because Yveltal is still quite bulky on the Physical Side physical side, and its ability to punish foes even if they boost, it is best to use Choice Scarf Yveltal Redundant proactively rather than reactively and what does this entail? to keep setup sweepers in check, as even if they choose to just outright attack Yveltal, they will still often be forced out after for still by fearing Foul Play, and will be enough to keep them under control long term at bay long enough that you can be ready for them the next time as well.
  • Yveltal fits very well on offense teams where its short term utility and late-game hyphen added cleaning prowess are put on full display, being able to almost singlehandedly shut down entire hyper offense teams that such structures otherwise have trouble into, and trade blows with surprise sweepers that may otherwise run away with the game such as?.
  • Giratina Origin Giratina-O is a great teammate on such teams, matching up very well into the tier's best Stealth Rockers Stealth Rock setters and keeping hazards off without letting up offensive pressure with its powerful Poltergeists Poltergeist, while in return Yveltal is able to can handle Pokemon that can otherwise force it out Giratina Origin such as Marshadow, or and Arceus-Ghost hyphen added.
  • Offensive Necrozma Dusk Mane Necrozma-DM variants are also notable partners for being able to take advantage of the many switches Yveltal forces, and the common Fairy-types hyphen added Yveltal will find itself luring in for Necrozma Dusk Mane Necrozma-DM to exploit for a safe set up opportunity to smash devastating holes that Yveltal can neatly clean up later on.
Add a bullet point on Yveltal appreciating hazard setters as it appreciates the chip damage done by the switches it forces, and try to avoid overly focusing on a single user, ideally players should get some flexibility on what to do over being basically given half of a team.

If the team already has a consistent Defogger reverted removal, "Defogger" is a coined competitive term allowed on analyses, Toxic may be chosen to punish Support support this was in my QC check yet ignored Arceus formes "form" is not a term used in analyses as it's limited to purely cosmetic ones, "forme" is used for relevant cases that aren't and Xerneas more consistently. Xerneas got banned, remove other mentions of it as well and replace them with another example as needed

Besides what I've mentioned in previous notes, you should avoid doing too many changes that don't pertain Quality Control, more specifically stuff that'd pertain Grammar/Prose more unless it's really blatant (direct cases of how stuff should be spelt if it's the first time, and of course leaving notes for the writer of the analysis to realize why it's wrong, like how I've done to you as you can see above), like requiring meta-specific information to properly fix (aka, removes vagueness that only someone into the meta would be able to do so properly), by doing GP changes without being properly approved as one, you've inserted some mistakes as well.

Beyond the other previously said stuff, this is a really good check, keep it up!

gonna AMGP this in a bit but just a quick note that the dex does not understand bullet points. In markdown bullet points are notated with *
so for example I would type

* this is a bullet point

if you have any questions about this all c&c staff are quite familiar with how the dex translates analyses, if nobody else is available feel free to ask me and I’ll get back to you asap!
