Following this On The Radar post, the 1v1 council has decided to Quickban Chi-Yu from SV 1v1. Since the release of Scarlet and Violet, Chi-Yu's insane Special Attack stat has made it an unbearably powerful attacker when coupled with Choice Specs and Beads of Ruin. Chi-Yu's access to utility movies like Will-O-Wisp, Nasty Plot, and Snarl has made prepping for it a difficult task, and its Speed tier allows it to outspeed many would-be counters while using a Choice Scarf. Even novelty items like Assault Vest, Weakness Policy, and Passho Berry are able to be effectively utilized by Chi-Yu to tech around common checks while still retaining the necessary power to beat much of the metagame.
We largely do not feel that a suspect test would change the outcome of this vote, and extensive community support for swift action led us to the decision to Quickban. While Iron Valiant was brought up alongside Chi-Yu in the On The Radar discussion, a lack of community support coupled with council's ambivalence regarding taking action led to our decision to wait and decide on how to approach it.
