UU Hydreigon

:ss/Hydreigon:

[OVERVIEW]

Hydreigon is a devastatingly powerful wallbreaker in UU due to its incredible Special Attack, great movepool, and excellent STAB combination. Its Choice Specs set has no reliable switch-ins apart from Primarina and Chansey, ripping apart common defensive staples like Amoonguss, Scizor, and Hippowdon. Hydreigon also can utilize a Choice Scarf set to revenge kill setup sweepers and fast threats, like Gyarados, Zygarde-10%, and Azelf, while also having a fast U-turn to escape unfavorable matchups and potentially Defog to compress entry hazard removal. Hydreigon's decent defensive typing alongside recovery in Roost lets it naturally check threats like Slowking, Rotom-W, and Chandelure. However, Choice Specs Hydreigon has an exploitable Speed tier, falling short of staples like Salamence, Thundurus-T, Keldeo, and Cobalion, which allows it to be revenge killed rather easily. On the other hand, the Choice Scarf set lacks the outright power to get past Hippowdon, Mandibuzz, and Celesteela, and it also can get heavily punished for locking into any move, with more offensive teams outright using it as setup bait. The presence of Fairy-types that are neutral to Flash Cannon like Primarina and Azumarill means Hydreigon can struggle to click a nuclear Draco Meteor when they're on the enemy team. Moreover, it suffers from four-moveslot syndrome, as it has to choose between Flamethrower to cook Celesteela, Cobalion, and bulky Scizor or Flash Cannon to keep the aforementioned Fairy-types and Togekiss from blanking it.

move 3: Flamethrower
move 4: Roost / U-turn

[SET COMMENTS]

Hydreigon's dual STAB combination hits most of the tier for massive damage, wiping out the likes of Nihilego, Slowking, Tangrowth, and Moltres. Flamethrower OHKOes Scizor and Cobalion and cleanly 2HKOes Celesteela and Assault Vest Tangrowth. Fire Blast is another option for more power, but Flamethrower gets the same KOs as Fire Blast and has better accuracy. Alternatively, Flash Cannon prevents Primarina and Azumarill from walling Hydreigon while also hitting Togekiss super effectively. Roost helps offset passive damage from Stealth Rock and sand while also letting Hydreigon switch into Volt Switch from Rotom-H and Rotom-W, allowing it to maintain defensive utility while being a powerful wallbreaker. Additionally, it gives Hydreigon the option to switch into Knock Off and still be a dangerous threat. U-turn can be used to evade unfavorable matchups against the likes of Primarina and Chansey. Sleep Talk is an option to absorb Spore from Amoonguss for its team and still function as a wallbreaker, though it can be rather inconsistent. Hydro Pump can nail Hippowdon, Nihilego, and Excadrill for heavy damage while being a good midground option against Scizor and Togekiss, but it is harder to fit compared to other options. Maximum Speed investment with a Timid nature allows Hydreigon to outspeed and KO threats like Moltres, Excadrill, and Tentacruel.

Hydreigon best fits on offensive teams that enjoy having a powerful wallbreaker that can overwhelm Slowking and Hippowdon, and ideally give it ample opportunities to fire off powerful attacks in return. Tentacruel is a key partner for Hydreigon, being able to reliably switch into Primarina and remove Stealth Rock, which wears Hydreigon down. It also blanks Celesteela and can use Knock Off to remove Eviolite from Chansey. Bulky Grass-types like Amoonguss and Assault Vest Tangrowth also check Azumarill and Primarina for Hydreigon. Primarina and the aforementioned Amoonguss can check dangerous Fighting-types like Keldeo and Conkeldurr. Pivots like Rotom-W, Thundurus-T, and Moltres can safely bring in Hydreigon against their answers like Amoonguss and Rotom-H. The former two also can threaten Primarina and Azumarill. Furthermore, slow pivots like Slowking and Chansey check revenge killers to Hydreigon like Keldeo, Salamence, and Azelf and get Hydreigon in especially safely against Skarmory and Tangrowth. Crobat and Choice Scarf Diggersby are also excellent partners for Hydreigon, revenge killing faster threats like Keldeo and Azelf. Both lure in Skarmory for Hydreigon; the former also compresses entry hazard removal and answers Conkeldurr, while the latter can bring Hydreigon in on Amoonguss and Tangrowth and threaten specially defensive walls like Chansey and Primarina. Entry hazard support from allies like Skarmory, Nihilego, and Hippowdon helps Hydreigon break past the likes of opposing Nihilego and Celesteela more easily, with even Chansey being overwhelmed with Spikes on the field. Nihilego also can use Knock Off to remove items from Celesteela and Chansey. Scizor and Cobalion are able to pressure specially defensive walls like Chansey, Nihilego, and Umbreon for Hydreigon. Late-game cleaners like the aforementioned Scizor, Zygarde-10%, and Gyarados can finish off weakened walls like Celesteela and Nihilego after Hydreigon breaks holes in the enemy team.

[SET COMMENTS]

When equipped with a Choice Scarf, Hydreigon can revenge kill faster threats like Azelf, Zygarde-10%, and Keldeo, as well as setup sweepers like Gyarados, with its STAB moves. U-turn lets Hydreigon pivot away from Chansey and Primarina and bring in a teammate to handle them. Fire Blast OHKOes Steel-types like Scizor, Cobalion, and Excadrill and 2HKOes Assault Vest Tangrowth. Alternatively, Defog allows Hydreigon to compress emergency entry hazard removal. Roost lets Hydreigon utilize its typing to switch into Chandelure, Rotom-W, and Slowking and heal as it forces them out, though both it and Defog are troublesome to lock into. Roost is also is useful if Hydreigon chooses to take a Knock Off in a game where Choice Scarf is no longer needed. Earth Power can be used to hit Nihilego hard if the team needs the insurance, but it fails to OHKO without chip damage and lacks any other meaningful targets that a STAB move or Fire Blast cannot cover. A Modest nature can be used for more power at the cost of not outspeeding +1 Excadrill, +2 Cloyster, and Choice Scarf Darmanitan.

Hydreigon best fits on bulky offense teams that appreciate the role compression of revenge killer, Ghost-resistant piece, and potential entry hazard remover in one Pokemon. Tentacruel, Tangrowth, and Amoonguss check Fairy-types like Primarina and Azumarill for Hydreigon; Tentacruel also can hinder Celesteela with Knock Off, and Liquid Ooze keeps it from clicking Leech Seed. Entry hazard removal from the aforementioned Tentacruel and Excadrill is needed to offset the chip damage from Stealth Rock that Hydreigon accumulates from frequent pivoting. They also free up the Defog moveslot on Hydreigon for another option like Roost. Entry hazard support from Hippowdon, Nidoqueen, and Excadrill can wear down threats like Gyarados, Nihilego, Keldeo, and Assault Vest Tangrowth for Hydreigon to get past. Nidoqueen also pressures Fairy-types like Hatterene and Primarina. Bulky Swords Dance Scizor beats checks to Hydreigon like Nihilego and Chansey and can clean late-game with certain faster threats like Thundurus-T and Salamence removed. Wallbreakers like Mamoswine and Keldeo appreciate Hydreigon revenge killing threats to them such as Starmie, Azelf, and Zygarde-10%. In return, they pressure Chansey and Nihilego and soften up Celesteela. Pivots like Rotom-H, Rotom-W, and Thundurus-T form VoltTurn cores with Hydreigon, with each wearing down each other's checks.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Hydreigon can use an offensive Roost set on bulky offense and balance teams that appreciate its defensive utility in addition to powerful wallbreaking. Taunt is common on this set to block entry hazards from the likes of Hippowdon and Chansey as well as to disrupt stall teams by shutting down threats like Umbreon and Chansey. Nasty Plot can be used to turn Hydreigon into a ferocious wallbreaker that can get many setup chances alongside Roost. With a boost, it can easily break past Pokemon that would normally switch into it like Celesteela, Mandibuzz, and Hippowdon using its STAB moves. However, this set thuds into Primarina and gets revenge killed easily. Shock Wave on the Choice Specs set is an option to keep Primarina from walling Hydreigon, cleanly 2HKOing most variants. Belch + Salac Berry + Nasty Plot + Substitute can be used to boost Hydreigon's Speed and OHKO Primarina and Azumarill after a Nasty Plot with Belch, but this set is unreliable because it will often not activate the Berry, rendering Belch useless. Thunder Wave can cripple switch-ins like Nihilego and Cobalion on more utility-based sets.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fairy-types**: Primarina is unthreatened by any of Hydreigon's attacks and threatens an OHKO with Moonblast. Azumarill has less bulk and gets worn down by Flash Cannon over time, but it discourages locking into a STAB move in the short term. Togekiss and Hatterene also discourage Draco Meteor but get hit hard by Flash Cannon, and the latter cannot switch into Dark Pulse.

**Fighting-types and Fighting-type Coverage**: Cobalion and Keldeo outspeed and OHKO Hydreigon. Conkeldurr forces Hydreigon out with the threat of a Guts-boosted Mach Punch. Pokemon like Skarmory and Thundurus-T commonly run Fighting-type coverage, keeping Hydreigon from freely switching into them.

**Dragon-types**: Salamence, Noivern, and Zygarde-10% all outspeed and OHKO Hydreigon with their Dragon-type STAB moves. However, they must watch out for Choice Scarf sets revenge killing them before they attack.

**Faster Threats and Priority**: Faster threats like Zarude, Azelf, and Crobat outspeed and threaten heavy damage on Hydreigon. However, they must watch out for Choice Scarf sets trying to revenge kill them. Priority from slower threats like Mamoswine and Scizor can revenge kill a weakened Hydreigon.

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Chansey can pivot into any of Hydreigon's attacks and cripple it with Toxic or gain momentum with Teleport. Umbreon can tank a Choice Specs-boosted Draco Meteor and use it for a free Wish, but it gets overwhelmed if it switches into that. Mandibuzz, Hippowdon, Nihilego, and Celesteela all cannot switch into Hydreigon's Choice Specs set reliably, but they comfortably switch into attacks from Choice Scarf Hydreigon.

-Hydreigon can also use a Choice Scarf set to be a potent revenge killer to the likes of Gyarados, Zygarde-10%, and Azelf, while also having a fast U-turn to escape unfavorable matchups.
-Hydreigon has many utilize utility options like Roost to switch into threats like Slowking and Chandelure, Taunt to deny entry hazards or status from the likes of Hippowdon and Chansey, and Defog to compress entry hazard removal
-However, Hydreigon has an exploitable Speed tier on non-Choice Scarf sets, falling short of staples like Salamence, Thundurus-T, Keldeo, and Zarude, causing it to be revenge killed rather easily.
-The presence of Fairy-types like Primarina and Azumarill who are neutral to Flash Cannon means Hydreigon can struggle to click a nuclear Draco Meteor with them on the enemy team. Paragraph 1
-Hydreigon's dual STAB combination hits most of the tier for massive damage, wiping out the likes of Aegislash, Slowking, Tangrowth, and Moltres.
-Fire Blast OHKOs Scizor and Cobalion and cleanly 2HKOs Celesteela and Assault Vest Tangrowth.
-Flash Cannon is an option to prevent Hydreigon from being walled by Primarina and Azumarill while also hitting Togekiss super effectively.
-line on roost
-U-turn can be used to evade unfavorable matchups like escaping the aforementioned Fairy-types if Hydreigon foregoes Flash Cannon as well as Chansey.
-Maximum Speed Investment allows Hydreigon to outspeed and KO threats like Moltres, Excadrill, and Tentacruel

Paragraph 2
-Hydreigon best fits on offensive teams that give it ample opportunities to fire off attacks.
-Insurance against Primarina and Azumarill is very important; Bulky Grass-types like Amoonguss and Assault Vest Tangrowth do a great job at switching into their attacks and forcing them out. Tentacruel switches into the former reliably and also can remove Stealth Rock that wears down Hydreigon. i'd move tenta up to first mention tbh it's a very notable partner for specs drei that fits super well on those teams bc it can also knock chansey fairly often which makes it reeeallly tough for it to constantly stomach specs dracos / pulses
-Pivots like Rotom-W, Thundurus-T, and Moltres can bring in Hydreigon safely against their answers like Amoonguss and Rotom-H. The former two hit Primarina and Azumarill super effectively as well.
-Slow pivots like Slowking and Chansey check revenge killers to Hydreigon like Keldeo, Salamence, and Azelf; they utilize a slow Teleport to get Hydreigon in safely against Aegislash and Tangrowth.
-Crobat is an excellent partner for Hydreigon, giving free entry to it against Skarmory and Aegislash to wallbreak while compressing entry hazard removal and revenge killing Azelf, Conkeldurr, and Keldeo.
-Entry hazard support from the likes of Skarmory, Cobalion, and Hippowdon help Hydreigon break past the likes of Nihilego and Celesteela easier. Even Chansey can be overwhelmed with Spikes on the field.
-Scizor, Zygarde-10%, and Aegislash help remove Chansey for Hydreigon. Scizor revenge kills Nihilego and can use Knock Off to remove items like Leftovers with Celesteela. Zygarde-10% also revenge kills Nihilego in addition to Thundurus-T and Lycanroc-D. Aegislash can wear down Primarina and counter Cobalion.
-idm where you fit it but scarf diggs is a great partner, loves drei's ability to pop grasses / skarm / weaken steela and is v good at bringing it in via uturn / forcing awkward lines vs special walls like prim and chansey that may end up being forced to trade with it

-U-turn lets Hydreigon pivot out against Chansey and Primarina and bring in a teammate.
-Defog allows Hydreigon to compress entry hazard with a fast Defog. reword this line lol
-Roost lets Hydreigon utilize its typing to switch into Chandelure, Rotom-W, and Slowking reliably.
-Fire Blast does heavy damage to Steel-types like Scizor, Cobalion, and Excadrill.
-Earth Power can be used to hit Nihilego hard if the team needs the insurance.
-A Modest Nature can be used for more power at the cost of not outspeeding a +1 Excadrill. you also miss out on scarf darm and +2 cloyster

Paragraph 2
-Hydreigon best fits on bulky offense teams that appreciate the role compression of Speed control, Ghost-type resist, and entry hazard removal in one Pokemon.
-Tentacruel, Tangrowth, and Amoonguss check Fairy-types like Primarina, Azumarill, and Tapu Bulu for Hydreigon. Tentacruel also can hinder Celesteela with Knock Off and use Liquid Ooze to keep it from clicking Leech Seed.
-Furthermore, entry hazard removal from the aforementioned Tentacruel and Excadril is needed to offset the chip damage from Stealth Rock Hydreigon accumulates from frequent pivoting. They also free up Defog on Hydreigon for another option like Roost.
-Entry hazard support from Hippowdon, Nidoqueen, and Excadrill can wear down threats like Gyarados, Nihilego, Keldeo, and Assault Vest Tangrowth for Hydreigon to break past. Nidoqueen can pressure Fairy-types like Hatterene and Primarina.

Paragraph 1
-Roost lets Hydreigon retain defensive utility against the likes of Aegislash and Rotom-H while also being a powerful wallbreaker.
-U-turn lets Hydreigon escape the likes of Chansey and Primarina by pivoting out.
-Flamethrower is helpful to break past Scizor, Amoonguss, Celesteela, and Assault Vest Tangrowth.
-Taunt can block entry hazards from the likes of Hippowdon and Chansey as well as disrupt stall teams by shutting down threats like Umbreon and Quagsire.
-Nasty Plot can be used to turn Hydreigon into a ferocious wallbreaker that can get many setup chances alongside Roost. With a boost, it can easily break past Pokemon that would normally switch into it like Celesteela, Mandibuzz, and Hippowdon.
-Leftovers keeps Hydreigon from getting worn down by Stealth Rock and allows for passive recovery without needing to click Roost. Life Orb can be used for more immediate power, though it needs to click Roost more and thus can lose momentum easier.

this is all fine info just fix the order to match slashes

Paragraph 2
-Hydreigon best fits on bulky offense and balance teams that appreciate its defensive utility in addition to powerful wallbreaking.
-Partners that remove Fairy-types like Nidoqueen, Nihilego, and Thundurus-T are appreciated. the wording on this is weird bc it implies that these mons are fairies, they obviously are not and maybe im just being stupid but could be worth changing The former two can set Stealth Rock, with Nihilego also crippling Chansey and Celesteela with Knock Off, while Thundurus-T can bring Hydreigon into wallbreak on Amoonguss and Assault Vest Galarian Slowbro.
-Defensive pivots like Slowking and Swampert bring Hydreigon in safely to wallbreak, with the former providing Future Sight support and checking Keldeo and Conkeldurr as well. pert providing sr can make a huge diff when breaking through mons like steela and chansey too if running taunt which u should be
-Scizor and Cobalion are able to pressure specially defensive walls like Chansey and Umbreon for Hydreigon. Late-game cleaners like the aforementioned Sczior, Gyarados, and Azelf all can finish off weakened walls like Celesteela and Nihilego after Hydreigon breaks holes in the enemy team.
-Speed control options like Crobat and Choice Scarf Diggersby help revenge kill Keldeo and Zygarde-10% for Hydreigon.
-Primarina and Amoonguss check dangerous Fighting-types like Keldeo, Cobalion, and Conkeldurr.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
-Thunder wave Wave can cripple switch-ins like Nihilego and Cobalion.
-Belch + Salac Berry + Nasty Plot + Substitute can be used to boost Hydreigon's Speed and OHKO Primarina and Azumarill after a boost, but this set is unreliable as it will not often trigger the boost rendering Belch useless.
-Hydro Pump can be used as a lure to nail Hippowdon for heavy damage, but that's it. it also slams occasional diancie and rhyp, does a ton to drill, and is a surprisingly nice midground vs stuff like togekiss, scizor etc. its p cool tbh and could probs even be a move mention but eh
-Charge Beam can boost Hydreigon's Special Attack and hit Primarina and Mandibuzz for super effective damage. shock wave is generally better and is good on specs since it 2hkos a lot of prim spreads
-Safety Goggles can let Hydreigon pivot into Spore from Amoonguss without falling asleep, but it risks getting poisoned by Sludge Bomb.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fairy-types**: Primarina is unfazed by any of Hydreigon's attacks and threatens an OHKO with Moonblast. Azumarill has less bulk and gets worn down by Flash Cannon over time but it discourages locking into a STAB move in the short term. Togekiss and Hatterene also discourage Draco Meteor but get hit hard by Flash Cannon, and the latter cannot switch into Dark Pulse well.

**Fighting-types and Fighting-type Coverage**: Cobalion and Keldeo outspeed and OHKO Hydreigon. Conkeldurr forces Hydreigon out with the threat of a Guts-boosted Mach Punch. Pokemon like Aegislash, Skarmory, and Thundurus-T all commonly run Fighting-type coverage, keeping Hydreigon from freely switching into them.

**Faster Threats and Priority**: Faster threats like Zygarde-10%, Zarude, Azelf, Crobat, and Salamence all outspeed and threaten heavy damage on Hydreigon. Priority from slower threats like Mamoswine and Scizor can revenge kill a weakened Hydreigon.

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Chansey can pivot into all of Hydreigon's attacks and cripple it with Toxic or gain momentum with Teleport. Mandibuzz, Hippowdon, Nihilego, and Celesteela all cannot switch into Hydreigon's Choice Specs reliably - they can def switch into some attacks and nihi can switch into any attack at least once set but comfortably switch into attacks from the other sets. u forgot a full stop

-Pivots like Rotom-H, Rotom-W, and Thundurus-T all form VoltTurn cores with Hydreigon, wearing down each other's checks. For example, Hydreigon can dent Swampert with Draco Meteor while the Electric-types chip Mandibuzz and Primarina.

-Hydreigon can use an offensive Roost set on bulky offense and balance teams that appreciate its defensive utility in addition to powerful wallbreaking. Taunt is commonly used on this set to block entry hazards from the likes of Hippowdon and Chansey as well as disrupt stall teams by shutting down threats like Umbreon and Quagsire.
-Nasty Plot can be used to turn Hydreigon into a ferocious wallbreaker that can get many setup chances alongside Roost. With a boost, it can easily break past Pokemon that would normally switch into it like Celesteela, Mandibuzz, and Hippowdon. However, this set thuds into Primarina and gets revenge killed easily.
-Hydro Pump can be used as a lure on Choice Specs to nail Hippowdon and Excadrill for heavy damage while being a good midground against Scizor and Togekiss, but it is harder to fit compared to other options. Similarly, Shock Wave is rare but has merits in 2HKOing most Primarina.
-Belch + Salac Berry + Nasty Plot + Substitute can be used to boost Hydreigon's Speed and OHKO Primarina and Azumarill after a boost, but this set is unreliable as it will often not trigger the boost rendering Belch useless.
-Thunder Wave can cripple switch-ins like Nihilego and Cobalion.
-Safety Goggles can let Hydreigon switch into Spore from Amoonguss without falling asleep, but it risks getting poisoned by Sludge Bomb.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fairy-types**: Primarina is unfazed by any of Hydreigon's attacks and threatens an OHKO with Moonblast. Azumarill has less bulk and gets worn down by Flash Cannon over time but it discourages locking into a STAB move in the short term.

Mandibuzz, Hippowdon, Nihilego, and Celesteela all cannot switch into Hydreigon's Choice Specs set reliably but comfortably switch into attacks from Choice Scarf.

[OVERVIEW]

Hydreigon is one of the most devastating wallbreakers in UU because of its incredible Special Attack, great coverage, and excellent STAB combination. Its Choice Specs set has no reliable switch-ins apart from Primarina and Chansey, technically umb too who won't even be dropped by double draco even after rocks, but can keep this to checks & counters especially considering chansey is gonna be run alongside it most of time anyway. being able to easily break through common defensive staples like Amoonguss, Scizor, and Hippowdon. Hydreigon also utilizes a Choice Scarf set to revenge kill setup sweepers and fast threats like Gyarados, Zygarde-10%, and Azelf while also having a fast U-turn to escape unfavorable matchups and the potential to use Defog to compress entry hazard removal. Hydreigon's defensive typing alongside recovery in Roost lets it naturally check threats like Slowking, Rotom-W, and Chandelure. However, Hydreigon has an exploitable Speed tier for the Choice Specs set, falling short of staples like Salamence, Thundurus-T, Keldeo, and Cobalion, causing it to be revenge killed rather easily. On the other hand, the Choice Scarf set lacks the outright power to get past Hippowdon, Mandibuzz, and Celesteela. can probably mention that it can be quite unreliable into offensive teams as a revenge killer, given it offers a lot of set up opportunities to various things no matter what it locks into. The presence of Fairy-types like Primarina and Azumarill which are neutral to Flash Cannon means Hydreigon can struggle to click a nuclear Draco Meteor with them on the enemy team. Moreover, it has slight 4MSS, as it has to choose between Flamethrower to KO Celesteela, Cobalion, and Bulky Scizor or Flash Cannon to keep the aforementioned Fairy-types from blanking it.

[SET COMMENTS]

Hydreigon's dual STAB combination hits most of the tier for massive damage, wiping out the likes of Nihilego, Slowking, Tangrowth, and Moltres. wiping out is potentially quite strong language to use for av tang and nihi specifically, given nihi pretty comfortable tanks two dark pulses and outspeeds / knocks u and av tang scouts u fairly decently. Flamethrower OHKOs Scizor and Cobalion and cleanly 2HKOs Celesteela and Assault Vest Tangrowth. Fire Blast is an option for more power but Flamethrower still gets the same KOs as Fire Blast and has better accuracy. Flash Cannon is an option to prevent Hydreigon from being walled by Primarina and Azumarill while also hitting Togekiss super effectively. Roost helps offset passive damage from Stealth Rock and sand chip while also letting Hydreigon pivot into Volt Switch from Rotom-H and Rotom-W, allowing it to maintain defensive utility while being a powerful wallbreaker. It also gives Hydreigon the option to get hit with Knock Off on purpose and still be a dangerous threat. U-turn can be used to evade unfavorable matchups against the likes of Primarina and Chansey by pivoting out. Sleep Talk is an option to absorb Spore from Amoonguss for its team and still function as a wallbreaker, though it can be rather inconsistent. Hydro Pump can nail Hippowdon, Nihilego, and Excadrill for heavy damage while being a good midground against Scizor and Togekiss, but it is harder to fit compared to other options. Maximum Speed Investment with a Timid nature allows Hydreigon to outspeed and KO threats like Moltres, Excadrill, and Tentacruel

Hydreigon best fits on offensive teams that enjoy having a powerful wallbreaker that can overwhelm Slowking and Hippowdon and give it ample opportunities to fire off powerful attacks in return actual contents good, the wording i'm not so sure about given you are like directly forcing out slowking but more want to smack hippo unexpectedly on the switch in / deny it as one than try and force it out directly? dark pulse flinch oculd be bad but otherwise it p comfortably just slack scouts u and toxic / sand aren't gucci, obv its good at pressuring teams that kinda have to use hippo as the pivot into hydra tho. Tentacruel is a key partner for Hydreigon, being able to reliably switch into Primarina and remove Stealth Rock that wears Hydreigon down. It also blanks Celesteela and can use Knock Off to remove Eviolite from Chansey. Bulky Grass-types like Amoonguss and Assault Vest Tangrowth also check Azumarill and Primarina for Hydreigon. Primarina and the aforementioned Amoonguss check dangerous Fighting-types like Keldeo and Conkeldurr. Pivots like Rotom-W, Thundurus-T, and Moltres can safely bring in Hydreigon against their answers like Amoonguss and Rotom-H. The former two hit Primarina and Azumarill super effectively as well. Furthermore, slow pivots like Slowking and Chansey check revenge killers to Hydreigon like Keldeo, Salamence, and Azelf and utilize a slow Teleport to get Hydreigon in safely against Aegislash skarm or something as a replacement maybe? and Tangrowth. Crobat and Choice Scarf Diggersby are excellent partners for Hydreigon, revenge killing faster threats like Keldeo and Azelf. Both lure in Skarmory for Hydreigon; the former also compresses entry hazard removal and answers Conkeldurr, while the latter can bring Hydreigon in on Amoonguss and Tangrowth to KO and threatens specially defensive walls like Chansey and Primarina. Entry hazard support from the likes of Skarmory, Nihilego, and Hippowdon help Hydreigon break past the likes of opposing Nihilego and Celesteela easier. Even Chansey can be overwhelmed with Spikes on the field.

When equipped with a Choice Scarf, Hydreigon can use its STAB combination to revenge kill faster threats like Azelf, Zygarde-10%, and Keldeo as well as setup sweepers like Gyarados. U-turn lets Hydreigon pivot out against Chansey and Primarina and bring in a teammate to handle them. Fire Blast can OHKO Steel-types like Scizor, Cobalion, and Excadrill and 2HKO Assault Vest Tangrowth. Alternatively, Defog allows Hydreigon to compress emergency entry hazard removal. Roost lets Hydreigon utilize its typing to switch into Chandelure, Rotom-W, and Slowking and heal as it forces them out, though it is troublesome to lock into. It also is useful if Hydreigon takes a Knock Off in a game where Choice Scarf is no longer needed. Earth Power can be used to hit Nihilego hard if the team needs the insurance, not a one shot most of the time without chip either and can't outspeed speed boosting metoer beam variants to be relied on for that either. but it lacks any other meaningful targets that a STAB move or Fire Blast cannot cover. A Modest nature can be used for more power at the cost of not outspeeding +1 Excadrill, +2 Cloyster, and Choice Scarf Darmanitan.

Hydreigon best fits on bulky offense teams that appreciate the role compression of revenge killer, Ghost-type resist, and entry hazard removal in one Pokemon. this sentence would suggest defog is a primary slash or probably not even considered optional, perhaps add "and an optional entry hazard remover" or something to reflect the current slashing, esp since you mention tentacruel and exca as the literal first partners Tentacruel, Tangrowth, and Amoonguss check Fairy-types like Primarina and Azumarill for Hydreigon. Tentacruel also can hinder Celesteela with Knock Off and Liquid Ooze keeps it from clicking Leech Seed. Entry hazard removal from the aforementioned Tentacruel and Excadrill is needed to offset the chip damage from Stealth Rock Hydreigon accumulates from frequent pivoting. They also free up Defog on Hydreigon for another option like Roost. Entry hazard support from Hippowdon, Nidoqueen, and Excadrill can wear down threats like Gyarados, this ones a little weird, yea non boots gyaras but the rest of these sound like switch-ins for most part (keldeo admittedly not a fantastic one except as a dark pulse / coverage caller), rocks still don't actually put gyara in KO range either without hippos sand help and draco still a 2hko without like dark pulse suddenly becomes with rocks (and both just as punishable to lock into rly vs HO). mention's fine in theory but between this and boots gyara's idk about the mention necessarily, could just keep it to these 3. Nihilego, Keldeo, and Assault Vest Tangrowth for Hydreigon to get past. Nidoqueen also pressures Fairy-types like Hatterene and Primarina. Bulky Swords Dance Scizor beats checks to Hydreigon like Nihilego and Chansey and can clean late-game with faster threats like Thundurus-T and Salamence removed. Wallbreakers like Mamoswine and Keldeo appreciate Hydreigon revenge killing threats to them like Starmie, Azelf, and Zygarde-10%. Taunt is commonly used on this set to block entry hazards from the likes of Hippowdon and Chansey as well as disrupt stall teams by shutting down threats like Umbreon and Quagsire. the umb mu is weird, or more so the stall mu in general, in theory you shut down umb but you can't rly hurt it either so that it actually beats u long term in a 1v1, unless you are simply trying to keep hazards up and pivot out immediately after or throwing a draco then pivoting out, this obviously requires like a rocks nihi in practice otherwise you are simply never keeping any hazards up past it, and certainly never spikes. disrupts probably fine terminology here since it doesn't rly make it sound like its actually a fantastic stallbreaker necessarily, but i would probably change the quag mention to chansey tbh. Nasty Plot can be used to turn Hydreigon into a ferocious wallbreaker that can get many setup chances alongside Roost. With a boost, it can easily break past Pokemon that would normally switch into it like Celesteela, Mandibuzz, and Hippowdon. However, this set thuds into Primarina and gets revenge killed easily. probably mention the 4th move its running in this case since its probably not immediately obvious, which ive basically always seen as flamethrower during uult at least but maybe draco also exists in which case mention that too if it does. Shock Wave on the Choice Specs set is an option to keep Hydreigon from being walled by Primarina, cleanly 2HKOing most variants. Belch + Salac Berry + Nasty Plot + Substitute can be used to boost Hydreigon's Speed and OHKO Primarina and Azumarill after a boost, but this set is unreliable as it will often not activate the berry, rendering Belch useless. can probably mention that this set struggles with coba too as well as stuff like keld / zarude etc if it cannot activate the berry. Thunder Wave can cripple switch-ins like Nihilego and Cobalion. which sets specifically?

Tentacruel is a key partner for Hydreigon, being able to reliably switch into Primarina and remove Stealth Rock that Rock, which wears Hydreigon down. Furthermore, slow pivots like Slowking and Chansey check revenge killers to Hydreigon like Keldeo, Salamence, and Azelf and utilize a slow Teleport to get Hydreigon in especially safely against Skarmory and Tangrowth. Entry hazard support from allies like Skarmory, Nihilego, and Hippowdon helps Hydreigon break past the likes of opposing Nihilego and Celesteela easier, more easily, with even Chansey being overwhelmed with Spikes on the field.

When equipped with a Choice Scarf, Hydreigon can revenge kill faster threats like Azelf, Zygarde-10%, and Keldeo, (AC) as well as setup sweepers like Gyarados, (AC) (or ignore both commas and replace "as well as" with "and") with its STAB moves. U-turn lets Hydreigon pivot away from Chansey and Primarina and bring in a teammate to handle them. Fire Blast OHKOes Steel-types like Scizor, Cobalion, and Excadrill and 2HKOs 2HKOes Assault Vest Tangrowth. Alternatively, Defog allows Hydreigon to compress emergency entry hazard removal. Roost lets Hydreigon utilize its typing to switch into Chandelure, Rotom-W, and Slowking and heal as it forces them out, though both it and Defog are troublesome to lock into. Roost is also is useful if Hydreigon takes (should this be "chooses to take"? up to you) a Knock Off in a game where Choice Scarf is no longer needed.

Hydreigon best fits on bulky offense teams that appreciate the role compression of revenge killer, Ghost-type resist, Ghost-resistant piece, and potential entry hazard removal remover in one Pokemon. Bulky Swords Dance Scizor beats checks to Hydreigon like Nihilego and Chansey and can clean late-game with faster threats (should this be "certain faster threats", bc bullet punch resist and intimidate pose special obstacles to sciz that not all fast threats do? up to you) like Thundurus-T and Salamence removed.

Other Options
=============

Hydreigon can use an offensive Roost set on bulky offense and balance teams that appreciate its defensive utility in addition to powerful wallbreaking. Taunt is commonly used on this set to block entry hazards from the likes of Hippowdon and Chansey, (AC) as well as to disrupt stall teams by shutting down threats like Umbreon and Chansey. Shock Wave on the Choice Specs set is an option to keep Hydreigon from being walled by Primarina, Primarina from walling Hydreigon, cleanly 2HKOing most variants. Belch + Salac Berry + Nasty Plot + Substitute can be used to boost Hydreigon's Speed and OHKO Primarina and Azumarill after a Nasty Plot with Belch, but this set is unreliable as because it will often not activate the Berry, rendering Belch useless. Thunder Wave can cripple switch-ins like Nihilego and Cobalion on more utility-based sets.

Checks and Counters
===================

However, they must watch out for being revenge killed by Choice Scarf. Choice Scarf sets trying to revenge kill them. Priority moves from slower threats like Mamoswine and Scizor can revenge kill a weakened Hydreigon.

(I imagine?) Mandibuzz, Hippowdon, Nihilego, and Celesteela all cannot switch into Hydreigon's Choice Specs set reliably, but they comfortably switch into attacks from Choice Scarf Hydreigon.

this can proceed 1/1, just be careful implementing and all

eg when i say "because of", i mean the change where the original prose was "because of" and then you changed that to something else. this includes all your changes and it's in order. let me know on disc if you have any questions or confusions, whether on this commentary or on the changes to the analysis i made or both! and maybe others could disagree on my opinions for subjective changes, more opinions good sometimes

the "because of" change: lateral change (pre-change and post-change versions are about equally as good)
the "utilizes" change: lateral; if your thought process was "scarf isnt the only thing hydreigon can utilize", that is true, but its sitll not wrong to say hydreigon does utilize choice scarf (implied: "sometimes")
solid: i like it!
for: good!
causing: assuming it used to say "causing allowing", objectively correct!
. It: lateral, these sentences do connect well but the combined sentence is a bit long, id say around net even
into: objectively correct!
which are neutral to Flash Cannon: great!
KO: incorrect unfortunately, as analysis says flamethrower only 2hkoes celesteela. if celesteela were ohkoed, this change would be great, though
alternative/still: lateral. does provide marginal clarity, "an option" already implies it isnt standard, and we can assume fire blast competes w flamethrower bc theyre the same type/niche
It also: i'm on board
switch into knock off: close call, i think its slightly better than lateral because "switch in" provides a more specific utility for taking knock off: it gives you new switch in chances
by pivoting out: i'm on board
added period: objectively correct!
. Pivots: i like it!
can: i'm on board but a bit close to lateral
also: i like it!
the likes of: lateral
help(s): objectively correct! nice spot
. Even: i like it!
period -> semicolon: close call
ac: great!
Entry hazard: i like it!
that: i like it
They also free: lateral: its fine to say that these pokemon free up the moveslot
like: lateral: i myself asked rabia abt "like/such as" repetitiveness and he told me that being repetitive with those is no big deal
all: like, i get it the desire, but lateral. preserving authors voice trumps rationale for removing it imo
boost: good!
utlitity: objectively correct, but youd also want a hyphen there
unthreatened: i agree
ac: good!
all: lateral
rc: objectively correct!

all in all i'm quite impressed w your grasp of subjective changes relative to how recently you started am-ing. keep it up! :psyglad:
