Getting back in gear for this, time for this good ol' fucker.

[SET]
name: Nasty Plot
move 1: Nasty Plot
move 2: Substitute
move 3: Dark Pulse
move 4: Flash Cannon / Earth Power
item: Leftovers
ability: Levitate
nature: Timid
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Hydreigon functions as an exceptionally powerful wallbreaker in the metagame, able to muscle through bulkier Pokemon such as Toxapex and Ferrothorn after a Nasty Plot boost, and it performs exceptionally well against slower teams. Hydreigon's Dark / Dragon typing is also decent, with resistances that allow it to check threats such as Polteageist, Reuniclus, and Indeedee and potentially open up opportunities for it to set up with Nasty Plot. Its passable bulk also gives it chances to set up against more passive Pokemon such as Ferrothorn and Toxapex. Substitute allows Hydreigon to guard itself from moves such as Ferrothorn's Leech Seed and Toxapex's Toxic and set up Nasty Plot boosts safely while also preventing Ditto from copying Hydreigon's boosts. With Dark Pulse, Hydreigon has a good, reliable STAB move that also allows it can take down Aegislash, Reuniclus, and Jellicent. Flash Cannon serves as coverage to hit Fairy-types such as Clefable, Hatterene, and Grimmsnarl hard; however, Earth Power covers Bisharp and Toxapex if necessary. Leftovers provides Hydreigon with a form of passive recovery, which can help it sustain enough HP to repeatedly set up Substitute over the course of a match.

Hydreigon appreciates teammates to help it against Fairy-types. Aegislash and Excadrill are both effective teammates that can cover Clefable, Grimmsnarl, and Hatterene very well. The aforementioned Hatterene as well as Reuniclus are effective teammates that can deal with Toxapex effectively if Hydreigon is not running Earth Power. Fast revenge killers such as Barraskewda and Gengar help Hydreigon against more offensive builds and can clean up late-game after Hydreigon has sufficiently pressured the opposing team. U-turn and Volt Switch users such as Rotom-H, Rotom-W, and Galarian Darmanitan can help bring Hydreigon in safely.

Hydreigon's typing is also decent, with resistances that allow it to check threats such as Aegislash, Excadrill, Hydreigon's a relatively mediocre Excadrill check and the list is large enough to still paint a good picture without it, so you can leave it off. Reuniclus, and Indeedee and potentially open up opportunities for it to set up with Nasty Plot. Substitute allows Hydreigon to guard itself from moves such as Ferrothorn's Leech Seed or Toxapex's Toxic and set up Nasty Plot boosts safely. It also prevents Ditto from copying it. With Dark Pulse, Hydreigon has a good reliable STAB move that also allows it can take down Aegislash, Reuniclus, and Jellicent. Hydreigon appreciates teammates to help it against Fairy-types. Aegislash and Excadrill are both effective teammates that can cover Clefable, Grimmsnarl, and Hatterene very well. Fast revenge killers such as Rotom-Heat, Indeedee, and Gengar help Hydreigon against more offensive builds, and can clean up late-game after Hydreigon has sufficiently pressured the opposing team. I don't think either Rotom-H or Indeedee are particularly great vs offensive builds, so change the examples. U-turn and Volt Switch users such as the aforementioned Rotom-Heat, Rotom-Wash, and Galarian Darmanitan Cinderace can help bring Hydreigon in safely. It's pretty hard to fit Cinderace onto a team with Hydreigon.

Good job, 1/2.

  • Not sure about the Aegislash mention because Close Combat does a fuckton if it's running it. I think it's best to mention Polteageist there.
  • You also mention setting up a Nasty Plot on some of these offensive Pokémon whose STAB Hydriegon resists, but I feel like it'll have a far easier time setting up Nasty Plot against more passive mons like the Toxapex and Ferrothorn you mentioned, as well as like the Rotoms and Jellicent / Corsola. I feel like this is worth adding to that Nasty Plot part.
  • I'd also add teammates that help with Toxapex if it's running Flash Cannon over Earth Power. Hatterene and Reuniclus, for example!
  • Also now that you removed the first Rotom-H mention, Rotom-H isn't aforementioned anymore (second to last line).
Awesome work!
