Hello! I'm sure for several people who are new to this section, our process regarding who we promote to QC is a bit difficult to understand, or even see in full without a lot of research. To remedy that, this thread will be here as a resource for interested contributors who may want to get on the team.
Step 1: Getting on Trial QC
Much like the operations of other formats, OU C&C runs on a Trial QC system, which is an instrumental tool that the QC team uses to evaluate the abilities of budding QC members. What this effectively does is that it provides us a way to evaluate the attributes of an individual as a QC member without putting all of our eggs in one basket. In other words, it's a way for us to see how you perform as a QC checker, and make a conclusion on whether or not you should join the team in a safe, inconsequential way. Any new potential member will be most likely going through this phase going forward, no matter your credentials.
With this in mind, you're likely wondering how to get into Trial QC in the first place. Thankfully, it's not anywhere near as hard as it might seem at a glance; in fact, here are a couple of ways you can get onto the Trial QC team.
1: Post AM checks.
AM Checks are by far the best way for newer, interested contributors to show what they got, without credentials being particularly necessary. For those of you that don't know, AM checks are an informal, unofficial check that anybody can post at any time. Posting them with good quality in decent quantity will let us see both your interest as well as your raw checking aptitudes. If we see potential, we may just reach out ourselves; or, once you've done so, you're free to ask us for a trial period too!
2: Just ask.
If you have credentials and are interested in joining the QC team, there's no harm in simply asking me or any of the mods. If you do so, simply just explain your credentials as a player/contributor, and we alongside the QC team will discuss whether or not we'll add you onto Trial QC, or if we would like to see some AM checks first. I promise we don't bite!
Step 2: Living the Life of a Trial QC Member
Once you get on Trial QC, the next step is to actually be a Trial QC member. A typical Trial QC period will consist of 4 checks that a Trial QC member can post at any time, with one catch: you must send it to me or any member of the QC team to evaluate before posting. This way, we can ensure the checks maintain quality while also evaluating you at the same time.
However, your checks are not the only thing we evaluate. We also evaluate good conduct, a healthy presence, constructiveness, and activity. You will have access to the main QC discord channel, so you'll effectively function as a normal QC member in terms of communication, teamwork, and aid in general decision-making.
A common mistake for new QC members is that they try to cover every single mistake possible, which is not sustainable; as a Trial QC member or normal QC member, it's important to remember that checks do not need to cover everything. The purpose of there being several checks is to make it so we can cover one another's blind spots, and obviously, even then the process itself is not inherently perfect. But, that's ok! Try not to let the pressure get to you and go about it your own way, just as long as you communicate with us. And, as always, we'll be available to heed any concerns or questions you may have, and we'll be sure to air our concerns with you as well should there be any.

Once your Trial period is over, I and the rest of the QC team will evaluate you, your checks, and other aspects like your conduct and compatibility. In some cases, we may outright reject you from QC, and if this happens, it's not necessarily a dealbreaker, as you're still welcome to AM checks and being re-evaluated again in the future. Sometimes, we may have you do another trial period if we see potential and want to facilitate further improvement. Or, best-case scenario, you'll be accepted onto the team!
