Alright time's up for the 2nd starter slate, and someone has managed the first double sub victory!:
Captura de pantalla (711).png

Congratulations to G-Luke for winning both Sceptile and Swampert! And due to popular demand, the original Charizard-X Mega returns to the ORAS metagame!
:ss/sceptile-mega:
Name: Mega Sceptile
Type:

Ability: Armor Tail
Stats: 70 HP / 95 Atk (+10) / 79 Def (+14) / 145 SpA (+40) / 99 SpD (+14) / 142 Spe (+22) [630 BST]
New Moves: Calm Mind, Sludge Wave
Description: Armor Tail makes sense to me because of Sceptile's tail fixation. And now it has access to Calm Mind and Sludge Wave to act as strong offensive late game breaker. It's slower than standard Mega Sceptile but not by much, allowing it's stats to be optimized more.

:ss/swampert-mega:
Name: Mega Swampert
Type:

Ability: Poison Touch
Stats: 100 HP / 155 Atk (+35) / 120 Def (+30) / 85 SpA / 115 SpD (+25) / 70 Spe (+10) [BST: 635]
New Moves: Poison Jab, Gunk Shot, Toxic Spikes, Bulk Up, Aqua Jet, Sludge Bomb
Description: The advent of Pokémon like Mega Venusaur and Mega Charizard Y (and to a lesser extent newcomer Mega Altaria) in my opinion makes the viability of classic Mega Swampert and Rain in general very questionable. Thus I decided to retool Mega Swampert from being a rain sweeper to that of a slow but bulky wallbreaker with the tools to check multiple major threats in the tier right now, like Mega Venusaur, Mega Blastoise and Mega Pinsir, all of which constitutes the top list of Mega Evolutions currently available. Toxapex proves that Water Poison is a top defensive type, and being able to pivot into multiple threats will help serve it well. Poison Touch is just a unique way to cripple checks with spammable Poison Jab, but Aqua Jet, Waterfall among others can also help here. 70 Speed is really nice so that Swamp will always creep Clefable.

Charizard X coming soon. (Jk Mega Zard is so good as is and adds well needed breakers to shift up the dynamic of the meta)
That should be it for a while, see you all on the next tour before slate 7!

Nothing too crazy happened during the tour, it was just a 3 person tour after all, but I do still have a couple takeaways:
- No single Mega really went all too crazy, in part due to high team diversity (I believe a team only got repeated once), but also in game nothing went too wild. Though, the stats don't account for how a couple Megas could've done better or worse with some better RNG (some move misses, some paralysis, typical Pokemon stuff)
- Because of the high team diversity, a bunch of Megas had a 100% winrate, but all of them were only used once, being Venusaur (continues to be insanely good), Aerodactyl (didn't get to do anything), Glalie (Glalie! Also did nothing but a win is a win), and Steelix (did well against HO)
- Despite having a 50% and 33% winrate respectively, Alakazam and Altaria also put in good showings, with Zam doing vanilla Alakazam things (but riskier), and Altaria being a nightmare to switch into with its Fairy/Fire/Water Triple STAB being kinda insane in the right circumstances
- Without some RNG, I would've lost to Sceptile and Zard X, so their 0% winrates are a little misleading
- Some really good Megas weren't used at, namely Pinsir (who's the most likely Mega to get nerfed imo), Blastoise, Lopunny, and Houndoom, but with all the new toys that haven't been tested yet (this tour was literally the first time that any Slate 5 Mega was used and we had a whole slate after it) this is understandable.
- Swampert is currently the only Mega that hasn't been used yet, but a couple (Gengar, Aerodactyl, Steelix, Alakazam, Zard X) have only been used a few times here and there, I'd love to see these more

And that's it!

There will be another roomtour at 4 PM EST tomorrow, March 5th! Hope to see you there!

A few takeaways:
- Fun fact, across 11 roomtour games in the 5 Roomtours during slates 3 and 6, Mega Venusaur is STILL undefeated. Undisputedly a top 2 Mega, if you weren't already convinced of that, the numbers should be able to persuade you
- The other undisputed top tier Mega right now is Pinsir, whose combination of high Speed, sky high Attack, amazing ability, and amazing typing and movepool make it the scariest offensive pivot you could ever imagine. It had a pretty great showing in this tournament, with 2/3 wins and potentially an Icicle Crash flinch away that third win. As I mentioned yesterday, if anything gets nerfed before Slate 7 begins, it'll be Pinsir, though whether or not that will actually happen will be revealed later, as a lot of the new Megas can either offensively or defensively check it and one of those checks (Swampert) hasn't been used yet
- Aerodactyl had a great showing this time around, with 2 wins in 3 uses, the same stats as Pinsir. Aerodactyl, while quite unreliable since it relies on Stone Edge and Hurricane hitting to function, does have a ton of potential as the fastest thing in the meta with a hard hitting Hurricane and checking non-Ice Shard Pinsir, so it's nice that its potential is getting realized here
- Pretty much every other Mega used did okay, with the only winless ones being Alakazam (which was used twice on the same team that had a Probopass on it (not to say that Probopass didn't put in work, it trapped a Heatran)), Glalie (expected at this point), Houndoom, and Charizard
- Rotom-Wash being #1 in usage is pretty interesting, but it does boast a decent-to-good matchup with a lot of Megas, like both Charizards, Blastoise, Glalie, Pinsir, Steelix, and Aero, while still giving you all the great Rotom things it provides

And that's all! I'll see you later today with Slate 7 and any potential balance changes!

The next slate is about to begin!

But, real quick, we do have 1 balance change!

- :pinsir-mega: Mega Pinsir - -10 Attack, -15 Speed, +25 SpA (New Stat Spread: 65/150/110/80/85/110) - Ever since it was voted in, Pinsir has proved to be the most terrifying offensive pivot you could imagine. It has an amazing typing and movepool with STABs in Megahorn, U-Turn, Ice Shard, and Icicle Crash, with appropriate coverage in Close Combat, and EQ. It could set up and sweep with Swords Dance, or pivot to its heart's content with the aforementioned STAB U-Turn, and it could do this so well because it had Mountaineer to protect it from Rocks. Rounding it all out, it had an amazing stat spread with 160 Attack and 125 Speed. All of these great traits together made it a bit overbearing, especially since all of its counters were Mega Evolutions like Zard Y and Blastoise, limiting your options if you didn't want to use those. Thus, one of those traits had to be taken away, with us deciding that we'd take some of its stats away. 150/110 physical offense with all of its other traits is still great, just not too much, especially with the Speed nerf. Being 15 points slower allows a lot more Pokemon to revenge kill it, like Mega Houndoom, Mega Lucario, Tornadus-Therian, and HP Fire Serperior (though the last two have to be weary of Ice Shard), while the slight Attack nerf means that those U-Turns and Icicle Crashes will chunk your defensive mons just a little less. Pinsir should still be pretty good, but a lot easier to deal with for a wider variety of teams.

With that out of the way, here's the next slate!

- Slate 7: FOUR!! -
:sm/pidgeot-mega::sm/manectric-mega::sm/absol-mega::sm/medicham-mega:
Pidgeot, Manectric, Absol, Medicham

For this slate, we actually have four Megas, since the total number of Megas isn't divisible by 3. Mega Pidgeot completely flipped the script on what it meant to be a Normal/Flying-type, becoming a strong Special Attacker and soaring to UUBL in vanilla despite a limited movepool. Manectric is one of my personal favorite Megas, being the quintessential Electric pivot. Mega Absol helped realize some of Absol's potential that it always had with its fan-favorite design, though it still couldn't quite break into OU. Lastly, Medicham was just an improvement on what regularly Medicham tried to do, but what an improvement it was, becoming one of the best Megas in the game.

Refer to the rules located on the OP for how you should sub:

Voting Phase (1 Day)
After the submission phase is over, voting will begin. This mod will be using the same voting system as Book of Enigmas, where you can vote for as many submissions as you want, with each submission getting a certain number of points based on how you ranked it. An example can be seen below.
For a slate with Mega Beedrill, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Pidgeot, for example, a ballot would look like this:
Beedrill: User 1, User 2, User 3
Lopunny: User 4, User 5, User 6
Pidgeot: User 7, User 8, User 9

With this ballot, Submission 1 for Mega Beedrill would get 3 points, Submission 2 would get 2, and Submission 3 would get 1. The same goes for Submissions 4, 5, and 6 in the Lopunny category and Submissions 7, 8, and 9 in the Pidgeot category, with them getting 3, 2, and 1 point respectively.

You can add as many submissions are you'd like after your third vote, with each one getting 1 point.
Beedrill: User 1, User 2, User 3
Lopunny: User 4, User 5, User 6
Pidgeot: User 7, User 8, User 9, User 10, User 11
So, in this ballot, Submissions 10 and 11 would also get 1 point in the Pidgeot category.

You can vote for your own submission, but it can't be in first place or your only vote in that category. Be sure to mark your self-vote by putting (SV) after it.
Beedrill: User 12 (SV), User 2, User 3
Lopunny: User 4, User 5, User 6
Pidgeot: User 7, User 8, User 9, User 10, User 11
This wouldn't be a legal ballot as the self-vote is in first place in the Beedrill category

Beedrill: User 12 (SV)
Lopunny: User 4, User 5, User 6
Pidgeot: User 7, User 8, User 9, User 10, User 11
This also wouldn't be a legal ballot as the self-vote is the only vote in the Beedrill category

Beedrill: User 2, User 12 (SV)
Lopunny: User 4, User 12 (SV), User 6
Pidgeot: User 7, User 8, User 12 (SV), User 10, User 11
This is a legal ballot because none of the self-votes are in first place or the only vote in a category.

If you vote for only 2 submissions in a category, the first place submission gets 2 points and the second place submission gets 1 point. If you vote for just one, then that submission gets 1 point.
Beedrill: User 1 (1 point)
Lopunny: User 4 (2 points), User 5 (1 point)
Pidgeot: User 7 (3 points), User 8 (2 points), User 9 (1 point), User 10 (1 point), User 11 (1 point)
The submission with the most points in a category will be added to the mod. For every Mega, you will also have the option to vote for the original Mega Evolution if you aren't a fan of any of the submissions. However, this can't be done for Pokemon whose original Megas were banned to Ubers.
For most slates, the next submission phase will start immediately after voting ends for the previous slate. The long submission phase will still give ample time for discussion and playtesting during the week so you can adjust your submissions. However, every 3 slates or so, one or more roomtours will be held so we can see what state the metagame is in. This may result in winning submissions being nerfed or buffed, depending on what we learn. Buffs and nerfs (mostly nerfs) can also happen at any other time as we learn stuff between roomtours.

Description: Bug Zappers are blue and so is Manectric :). Anyways nearly every flying type has U-turn so this will scare those mons from abusing u-turn to get out of unfavorable matches or gain momentum, while still doing regular manetric things. If you are on crack cocaine you could try extremely hard reads and switch into stuff like lando, gliscor or pinsir, but be mindful a single wrong lead leads to manectric dying instantly, which is not that different from its usual way of using it actually. Slower than the OG, but it outspeeds pretty much everything it wants to outspeed.

Hello!

I've been super busy this week, but with submissions ending soon, it's time for a another quick veto warning post!

The following submissions are likely to get vetoed once voting open, but you still have plenty of time to adjust them to appropriate levels because submissions will be extended to Monday night due to my busy schedule this weekend.

:sv/pidgeot-mega:
Name: Mega Pidgeot
Type: Normal/Flying
Ability: Punk Rock
Stats: 83/80/80/85 (+10)/121 (+51)/85 (+15)/125 (+24)
New Moves: Boomburst
Description: pls don't be broken
:pidgeot-mega: Unfortunately, this is in fact broken and would be vetoed. STAB Punk Rock-boosted Boomburst off of 121 SpA is insane already and putting that on top of 125 Speed, a good secondary STAB in Hurricane, and good enough coverage in HP Ground and Heat Wave makes this way too much. I recommend removing Boomburst and replacing it with Hyper Voice.

:sm/Pidgeot-Mega:
Name: Mega Pidgeot
Type: Normal/Flying
Ability: Drizzle
Stats: 83 HP / 80 Atk / 80 Def / 135 SpA / 80 SpD / 121 Spe [579 BST] (Same as OG)
New Moves: Weather Ball, Hydro Pump, Aura Sphere, Focus Blast, Hyper Voice
Description: With Drizzle, Mega Pidgeot retains perfect accuracy Hurricane and it now has boosted Water coverage, finally allowing it to hit its old nemesis Heatran. While the loss of Fire coverage is somewhat unfortunate, the addition of Fighting-type coverage in its movepool allows it to hit Steel-types for super effective damage. Drizzle also allows it to reliably revenge-kill Tyranitar by removing its Sand Sp. Def boost. Hyper Voice is there in case it want to use its Normal STAB.
:pidgeot-mega: This one actually probably won't get vetoed, but I did want to mention this as this was the most borderline of the bunch. A version of Mega Pidge that can easily hit TTar and Heatran while having all the same already decent traits it had sounds a little concerning on paper and I honestly can't decide if I'm overestimating it by bringing it up or underestimating it by not vetoing it. Like I said, it might be fine, but I might suggest removing some of its SpA and/or coverage

manectric-mega.jpg

Name: Mega Manectric
Type: Electric/Dragon
Ability: Dragon's Maw
Stats: 70/75/70/135/80/135
New Moves: +Draco Meteor, +Dragon Pulse

absol-mega.jpg

Name: Mega Absol
Type: Dark/Fairy
Ability: Pixilate
Stats: 75/145/75/75/70/125
New Moves: +Rapid Spin, +Extreme Speed
Description: The fairy type in hell
:manectric-mega: It turns out that a lot could go wrong with Dragon-type Manectric as this would get vetoed. This having both STAB and Dragon's Maw boosting Dragon moves is simply too powerful with both Draco Meteor and Dragon Pulse, while it can simply Volt Switch on any Fairy switch-in since no Electric-immune Fairies exist, and Overheat most Steel switch-ins as well, leaving very few checks (pretty much just Mega Altaria and Mega Steelix). There are a couple ways you could nerf this, the easiest just making it pure Electric, or you could keep it Electric/Dragon and replace Draco Meteor and Dragon Pulse with Dragon Breath
:absol-mega: This would also get vetoed for the simple fact that an -ate ability + STAB Extreme Speed is unsalvageably broken, especially on something with 145 Attack. Plus, this would probably get vetoed even without ESpeed since 145/125 physical offense is extremely powerful on an -ate user (especially in Gen 6 when -ate abilities boosted moves by 1.3x). I recommend remoiving ESpeed and lowering its Speed significantly.

And that's all!
As stated before, submissions will close on Monday night, giving you all plenty of time to fix up your subs and make new ones!
See you soon!

Description: Who needs a Future Sighting partner when you're your own Future Sight? Taking inspiration from To The Gigantamax's G-Max Absol whose GMax move hit the opponent with a 60 BP Hurricane or Inferno at the end of each turn (funny mod), Absol can set up a checkmate with strong Dark moves and a Future Sight in one slot. While obviously not as strong as that could be on paper since the Future Sight is only 90 BP from a 95 SpA stat, it can still be a pain to switch around for Fighting-type Knock switch-ins, knowing they can't stay in too long less they risk getting picked off by a weak Future Sight. Close Combat comes from Gen 8, giving Absol a way to hit Ferrothorn and bulkier Dark resists that could tank a Play Rough, while U-Turn pairs with Bad Omen to help its teammates.

New Moves: Aura Sphere, Thunderbolt, Close Combat, Gunk Shot, Healing Wish
Description: I'mma be honest, I don't think I can improve on base MegaCham (love that mon despite it being only my 2nd favorite Psychic/Fighting Mega), but lemme at least try to make it something unique since Mega Gallade is coming later. Gallade and/or Heracross will (likely) have the strong physical Fighting-type Mega niche down, while Lopunny already has the fast Fighting-type Mega nice down, so for Medicham I decided to try to make it more Specially focused, which no other Fighting Mega can do. While a bit boring, considering Medicham's super low BST, a simple Special version of Huge Power is a very effective way to achieve this. Focus Blast, Aura Sphere, Vacuum Wave, Thunderbolt, Psychic, Psyshock, Shadow Ball, and your choice of Hidden Power (likely Ice for Lando and Gliscor) all go hard based off of a doubled 90 SpA stat, while Medicham's okay bulk can let it tank a hit in a pinch. It's still a bit slow for a Mega and doesn't quite have the nuclear power of the MegaCham of old, but Special moves being generally better + Vacuum Wave giving it STAB priority should help it a lot. Close Combat, Gunk Shot, and Healing Wish are all new tools for base Medi to maybe make base form viable enough to make it worth bluffing Mega Medicham and then suprising your opponent with Scarfed base Medi or something.

Ugh. DragonHeaven seems like it refuses to load properly for me as of late, so that's fun, almost as fun as Daylight Savings Time continuing to unnecessarily exist. Also, whoops. Somehow forgot that anaconja already did Electric/Fire Electric Surge Manectric-Mega, so I guess I won't be submitting anything for that entry at this point, though I do wish that one had Will-o-wisp too:

:sm/medicham-mega:
Name: Medicham-Mega
Type: Fighting/Psychic
Ability: Contrary
Stats: 060 HP / 090 Atk (+30) / 090 Def (+15) / 080 SpA (+20) / 080 SpD (+05) / 110 Spe (+30)
New Moves: Close Combat, Psycho Shift, Stored Power, Superpower
Description: While this and Pidgeot-Mega are the mons this time that I'll probably vote for the originals for among my votes, I did at least want to try to submit things for them, and this one was way easier to think of compared to Pidgeot-Mega even if I had to add more moves than I would have liked. Contrary allows me to stick rather close to the "Mega with seemingly underwhelming stats that gets pretty out of hand (in theory)" idea that the original has and is also rather funny against Intimidate on a physical attacker. Contrary Superpower is self-explanatory, so I'll just point out that the seemingly redundant Close Combat is there more for Stored Power than anything else, and Psycho Shift is just there merely because I've always found it neat and super underused, in part because so few things get it. This should be fine as far as balance goes despite having Drain Punch between Ghosts, unaware Clefable, and 110 Speed not actually being that fast on top of it needing like two turns to become really threatening instead of being immediately threatening like regular Medicham-Mega.

:sm/absol-mega:
Name: Absol-Mega
Type: Dark/Ground
Ability: Aeromancy = This Pokémon's Attack is raised by one stage when hit by a Flying attack; Flying immunity.
Stats: 065 HP / 150 Atk (+20) / 075 Def (+15) / 075 SpA / 075 SpD (+15) / 125 Spe (+50)
New Moves: Earthquake, Earth Power, Spikes, Tailwind
Description: Gods, as much as Absol-Mega is one of the few mons whose Mega design I like visually, the stats on regular Absol and its already existent movepool make it so damn hard to balance given how utterly frail it is. Took forever to think of an ability that seemed good enough without broken...and then Yoshiblaze essentially did the same idea I had. Yay. Oh well, like with Alazakam-Mega, at least someone did it. As for this "backup", I was vaguely considering just giving it Wind Rider, but that'd be kind stupid with Tailwind even with its fraility and newfound weakness to no less than three forms of priority. As it is now, however, it does block Defog, which is a niche in and of itself even if Zapdos tends to use a non-STAB move, meaning it doesn't hilariously auto-wall it as it might otherwise. The type and ability also is a decent if still frail check to the new Aerodactyl-Mega's "vintage" Hurricane without being weak to Earthquake (though it sure as hell doesn't like it either with that HP). Not much else to say about it, honestly.

:sm/pidgeot-mega:
Name: Pidgeot-Mega
Type: Fairy/Flying
Ability: No Guard
Stats: 083 HP / 080 Atk / 080 Def (+05) / 135 SpA (+65) / 080 SpD (+10) / 121 Spe (+20) {a.k.a. the official stat changes)
New Moves: Moonblast, Play Rough
Description: The second of the two that I'm doubtless going to vote for the original among my votes, especially since MegaFlareon surprisingly took my idea days ago which is apparently borderline broken anyway. Whoops. Anyway, due a lack of real ideas otherwise, this is mostly just the creatively bankrupt "Fairy glow-up" along that's almost as lazy as the same lines of "give something Regenerator" since the original Pidgeot-Mega is so close to being OU material as it already is despite its sparse movepool. So I figured I would give this the bustedness of Moonblast over the more mundane Dazzling Gleam mostly just to spitefully stick it to Togekiss because honestly screw that thing, forever and always.
