[Gen 1] FutureProofing

Welcome to the FutureProofing!

This Gen 1-based Pet Mod is fairly simple: we re-adapt Dark, Steel, and Fairy-type moves and Pokémon in order to fit into Gen 1 by changing their types and enhance the Gen 1 OU metagame.

Rules
Dark, Steel, and Fairy-type Pokémon and moves will be added in slates, which have slightly different rules. There will be 10 of each kind of slate, making 20 slates in total.

Pokémon Slate Rules
- All odd numbered slates are Pokemon slates.
- During Pokemon slates, you will sub any future generation Dark, Steel, or Fairy-type Pokemon and adapt it into a Gen 1 environment by changing their typing, stats, and movepool.
- You are allowed to sub 1 Pokemon of each type during the slate. You must specify which voting category your Pokemon fits into (as denoted on the submission template below), which covers for cases like Bisharp or Grimmsnarl, who have multiple future typings.
- When subbing Pokemon, you will change their typing (obviously), as well as their stats and movepools. Movepools are based on their current generation movepools, automatically including any move they learn that exists in Gen 1 + any moves added to the mod through Move Slates that they already learn.
- Pokemon subs can be vetoed if they are broken. Generally, be careful with giving Pokemon recovery, which is fairly uncommon in OU except for on top tier Pokemon, high Special stats without a downside, Amnesia, the Normal-typing, and the Psychic-typing. Also be sure your subs wouldn't disrupt the metagame too much. For example, you shouldn't make an extremely strong Fighting-type that counters Tauros, Chansey, and Snorlax all at once, as it would likely warp the metagame around itself. You should still aim for OU viability, however.
- To decide what gets added to the metagame, we'll use a non-ranked vote. Whichever sub gets the most votes in each category will win and get added to the metagame, giving us ~3 new Pokemon each slate and ~30 new Pokemon throughout the mod.
- Pokemon from Legends: Arceus are allowed to be subbed. This means that you can sub Samurott-Hisui, Qwilfish-Hisui, Overqwil, Goodra-Hisui, and Enamorus during Pokemon slates
- Any prevolutions of the Pokemon you sub that win will automatically be added. Their stats, typing, and movepools will be decided by council based on your winning sub, so you do not have to include these with your submission.
- Submissions for Pokemon slates last 5 days, with 1 day of voting and 1 day of a discussion phase
Pokémon: (The name of the Pokemon you're submitting. It must be an existing Pokemon from a future generation)
Category: (The category you're submitting to, being either Dark, Steel, or Fairy. It must be one of the typings it has in the current generation)
New Type: (The type of the Pokemon you're submitting. You can only use the types that exist in Gen 1)
Stats: (The stats of the Pokemon. Remember that Gen 1 only has 5 stats because Special Attack and Special Defense are the same stat.)
New Moves: (Any new moves you're giving to the Pokemon you're submitting. Remember that the Pokemon's base movepoll is based on what moves it currently learns that exist in Gen 1)
Removed Moves: (Any moves you're removing from the Pokemon's base movepool. Remember that the Pokemon's base movepoll is based on what moves it currently learns that exist in Gen 1)
Competitive Overview: (A brief competitive description of the Pokemon you're submitting, what it does in the metagame, and why you think it should be added.)

Move Slate Rules
- During Move slates, you will sub any future generation Dark, Steel, or Fairy-type move and adapt it into a Gen 1 environment by changing its typing, effect, base power, and distribution (note that the moves' final distribution is ultimately decided by council)
- You will be allowed to sub 1 Dark move, 1 Steel move, and 1 Fairy move during Move slates, which one of each being added to the metagame at the end of the slate. You don't have to specify categories like in Pokémon slates because moves can only have 1 type anyway
- Note that type categories are decided by type in Gen 1. Normal, Fighting, Flying, Ground, Bug, Poison, Ghost, and Rock are Physical, while Grass, Fire, Water, Psychic, Dragon, Electric, and Ice are Special.
- When adapting moves, try to keep the feel of the original but be sure to stay within the limits of Gen 1, so you cannot add any new major mechanics with the moves you're adding (i.e. If you subbed Ceaseless Edge, you couldn't make it set Spikes because Spikes don't exist in Gen 1. Instead, you could give the move a poison chance or make it a partial trapping move). If you add a more minor mechanic (i.e. if you made Ceaseless Edge deal a little damage for a few turns after use but not as a trapping move), it may be allowed, but that is up to the council's discretion
- Moves from Legends: Arceus are allowed to be subbed. This means that you can submit Ceaseless Edge, Springtide Storm, and Shelter during move slates
- Submissions for Move slates last 5 days, with 1 day of voting and 1 day of a discussion phase
- Voting works the same as it does for Pokémon slates

Does have the downside of allowing your opponent to undo your progress if they play around it well, though, and it competes with generally good move Body Slam

- Pokémon Slate 1 -

Welcome to the first slate of FutureProofing!
This slate is a Pokemon Slate, where you can add any future gen Dark, Steel, and Fairy-type Pokémon to the metagame!
Rules (Also on the OP)
- Pokemon subs can be vetoed if they are broken, so try to stay in OU's power level. This especially important for Slate 1 as we don't want to change the power level of the metagame that much so early.
- To decide what gets added to the metagame, we'll use a non-ranked vote. Whichever sub gets the most votes in each category will win and get added to the metagame, giving us ~3 new Pokemon each slate and ~30 new Pokemon throughout the mod.
- Any prevolutions of the Pokemon you sub that win will automatically be added. Their stats, typing, and movepools will be decided by council based on your winning sub, so you do not have to include these with your submission.

New Type:

Stats: 70 / 110 / 165 / 70 / 50
New Moves: none
Removed Moves: none
Competitive Overview: simple physical wall, having alot of nice resistances, but also beeing unfortunately weak to EQ. also has a ton of coverage, having Electric / Fire / Ice coverage is really good. it also has a decent enough matchup with most OU mons (from what i can see), minus the ground and ice mons. it also seems to have a nice matchup against tauros, resisting all of its moves except EQ and Blizzard/Ice Beam.

Pokemon: Guzzlord
Category: Dark
New Type:

Stats:
191 / 103 / 43 / 89 / 43
New Moves: Bind
Competitive Overview: Guzzlord here functions primarily as a switch-in to Psychics like Alakazam and Exeggutor, taking some pressure of Chansey to check them at all times. Unlike Chansey, Guzzlord can actually generate momentum off of the Pokemon it walls either through Bind pivoting or setting up with Amnesia. Both of these aren't overwhelming, as Bind is weak and has shoddy accuracy while Guzzlord's only special moves are Fire-type.
Guzzlord
- Bind
- Earthquake / Fire Blast
- Body Slam / Hyper Beam
- Rest

Guzzlord
- Amnesia
- Fire Blast / Flamethrower
- Earthquake / Bind

Pokemon: Kartana
Category: Steel
New Type:

Stats:
53 / 181 / 131 / 31 / 109
Competitive Overview: Slashbot. Kartana has the strongest Slash in the game, doing even more than Persian, but having essentially nothing else going for it beyond that. STAB Razor Leaf almost always OHKOes Rhydon even with garbage special attack, so that's one other major advantage it has over Persian. Great defense ensures it can come in on and fire off a few hits against stuff like physlax and Rhydon, but any special coverage that isn't a resist will probably 2HKO it at worse. Starmie's Blizzard always OHKOes! Lastly, it is 1 point slower than Tauros, so I'm confident this will be a mostly niche mon used alongside stuff like Persian to overload checks. Also nothing to actually abuse Swords Dance with except for... Cut...
Kartana
- Slash
- Razor Leaf
- Substitute
- Rest? I guess?

Pokemon: Weezing-Galar
Category: Fairy
New Type:

Stats:
65 / 90 / 120 / 85 / 60
New Moves: Psychic, Thunder Wave
Competitive Overview: Another Psychic-type boomer to complement your Exeggutor boom offenses. Alongside Boom it has solid mixed bulk and a decently-strong Psychic, so it can make a little bit of progress before blowing up. I also added Thunder Wave because I think access to some sort of status would go a long distance into making this Pokemon pickable. As for downsides, it has mediocre Special for a Psychic and a Psychic neutrality, so it won't be checking any opposing Psychics. On the physical side it fares better, but a Ground weakness is still devastating. Definitely not anyone's first choice for a Psychic, but another strong boom is never a bad thing.
Weezing-Galar

- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt / Hyper Beam / Sludge

New Type: Rock/Ground
Stats: 75/85/200/65/30 (BST: 455)
Competitive Overview: Steelix comes in as another Rock/Ground-type. It hits less hard and is slower compared to Rhydon & Golem but is much more defensive. It has EQ, Rock Slide, Body Slam, Hyper Beam, & Bind.

Pokemon: Slurpuff
Category: Fairy
New Type: Normal
Stats: 82/80/86/85/72 (BST: 405)

Competitive Overview: Slurpuff is a variant of AmnesiaLax that trades immediate power for speed.
Slurpuff
- Amnesia
- Body Slam
- Surf / Thunderbolt / Flamethrower
- Rest / Thunderbolt / Flamethrower

Pokemon: Sableye
Category: Dark
New Type: Ghost
Stats: 70/75/75/65/50 (BST: 335)
New Moves: Ice Beam, Hypnosis
Removed Moves: Recover
Competitive Overview: Sableye has at least a niece by typing alone. Ghost is a very good typing in Gen 1 & 2. Gengar is good and it doesn't run any STABs. Sableye competes with Gengar but has an advantage by not being part Poison-type. Gengar is only dragged down by its Poison-type except in extremely rare cases. Sableye has Hypnosis which is a major boon & it is basically Gengar but exchanges stats & Explosion for a better type.

Pokémon: Rapidash-Galar
Category: Fairy
New Type: Psychic
Stats: 65/100/70/80/105 (420)
New Moves: -
Removed Moves: Non Gen 1 moves
Competitive Overview: With a Special stat in 80, Rapidash-G is the weakest Psychic-type in OU alongside Slowbro, although Slowbro can boost it with Amensia. Rapidash-G lacks the tools to boost its STAB, however it is a Psychic-type that can potentially beat Special walls in Chansey and Snorlax. It needs set-up to do that reliably and those two can cripple Rapidash with Paralysis, but Rapidash-G has access to Hypnosis and it is the 2nd fastest Sleeper in OU, right behind Gengar. Outrunning Zapdos is also a nice trait and it can still run Body Slam alongside Swords Dance and therefore isn't restricted into running Hyper Beam. However, this is where its problems kick in. Being a Psychic that beats Special Walls is nice, but it's still a weak Psychic-type to begin with, which results in its STAB being easily tanked by even non Chansey and Snorlax Pokemon. Furthermore, it only has Hyper Beam and Body Slam viable SD boosted moves, but it can't run both since it needs SD and Hypnosis to differantiate itself from other Pokemon. I still think it's a worthwile Pokemon, but it's certainly a flawed Pokemon.

:Rapidash-Galar: Psychic vs. :Chansey:: 81-96 (11.5 - 13.6%) -- possible 8HKO
+2 :Rapidash-Galar: Hyper Beam vs. :Chansey:: 593-697 (84.3 - 99.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

+6 :Rapidash-Galar: Hyper Beam vs. Snorlax: 469-552 (89.6 - 105.5%) -- 35.9% chance to OHKO
:Snorlax: Body Slam vs. :Rapidash-Galar:: 123-145 (36.9 - 43.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

+2 :Rapidash-Galar: Hyper Beam vs. :Alakazam:: 341-401 (108.9 - 128.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
:Alakazam: Psychic vs. Rapidash-Galar:: 69-82 (20.7 - 24.6%) -- guaranteed 5HKO

Pokémon: Sneasel
Category: Dark
New Type: Ice
Stats:
65 HP / 75 Atk / 65 Def / 110 Spec / 115 Spe (430 BST)
New Moves: Lick, Night Shade
Removed Moves: Everything from later gens
Competitive Overview: Sneasel was an unfortunate Pokémon ever since it’s conception. It was introduced as a Pokémon with high physical stats directly after the Special split while both its types were Specially offensive. Once stats were no longer tied to move types, it got an evolution. Sneasel never really got a chance to shine, but perhaps it could have if it was made a few years earlier. By removing the Dark type, it is no longer 4x weak to Fighting moves. By combining its Special Attack and Special Defense, it has a very high Special stat only topped by its blinding speed. With Attack no longer necessary, it was redistributed into defensive stats. As for the ability front, the Sneasel line never really had standout abilities, so it’s barely a change for the mon in a vacuum, and maybe even a buff within the mod’s context.

Haha what if full typing replacement

New Moves: Rock Slide, Rock Throw, Confuse Ray, Night Shade, Lick, Hyper Beam, Pin Missile, Twineedle
Removed Moves: Everything past Gen 1
Competitive Overview: Ghost to replace Dark, Rock because the blades look like Kabutops’ hands. Access to Night Shade and Rock Slide, with Hyper Beam as an essential Physical attack and some Bug moves to hit grass mons. Just being a Ghost type is positive in gen 1 as well. Offensively checked by faster Grass and Water mons, both of which are specially based and therefore hitting the lower defensive stat. Expect this to get countered by Starmie and Venusaur (maybe Dugtrio too).

I was almost done making this mon when Smogon fucked me up and erased my progress, luckily I saved the stats for last because fuck, man

New Type: Electric/Psychic
Stats: 77 HP / 58 Atk / 67 Def / 108 Spc / 101 Spe (411 BST)
New Moves: Psychic, Teleport
Removed Moves: Everything past gen 1 + Super Fang
Competitive Overview: Explicitly less speed and special than both Alakazam and Gengar. However, this mon gets Thunder Wave, meaning it could potentially paralyze the powerful grand ghostly Gengar and then fire off Psychic on it because for some fucking reason the one mon that should have been viable to fuck with Psychic types is fucking weak to Psychic moves (Jesus what were the gen 1 devs thinking). Basically, you’re taking out some of Zam’s vital offenses in exchange for an extra STAB.

I was on the fence about this. On one hand, It needed Ice Punch to do anything vs ground and grass types, but on the other hand, it has no hands, thus mine were forced.
Competitive Overview: A rock type that isn't x4 weak to water and grass and has sky high Special + STAB Thunderbolt, actually giving it a winning matchup against some water types, especially ones that forgo Surf/Hydro for coverage. Lack of Ice weakness makes it a better counter to Reflect Snorlax, and its special is so high that it can serve as a second Chancy against Psychics. Probo's Thunder is the new strongest unboosted special move in the game, but it does nothing to Rhydon, and usually less than 20% to Exeggutor. Tauros is a weird matchup, as Probo wants to switch in on a normal move, but also takes 69.3 - 81.7% from EQ, and is slow enough that it is still outsped by paralyzed Tauros by 1 point. It has Explosion, but attack is so low that it fails to OHKO even physically frail mons like Zam and Jynx.

Competitive Overview: Fast revenge killer that has STAB Fighting moves. Lacks the power to 2HKO some important targets without a crit, but can clean up against many water and normal types with some pre existing damage/para. It also has high enough special to survive 1 strong STAB Psychic, tho it can't say the same about EQ. It's stats have been re-engineered such that it is slower than Tauros, and cannot 2hko Snorlax or Rhydon without a crit.
Jolteon Submission vs. Tauros: 175-206 (49.5 - 58.3%) -- 99.3% chance to 2HKO (13.1 - 15.4% recoil damage) | Tauros Earthquake vs. Jolteon: 205-242 (59.7 - 70.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO | Tauros Hyper Beam vs. Jolteon: 222-261 (66.6 - 78.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Jolteon Submission vs. Chansey: 461-542 (65.5 - 77%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (34.6 - 40.6% recoil damage) | Chansey Ice Beam vs. Jolteon: 74-87 (21.5 - 25.3%) -- 0% chance to 4HKO
Jolteon Thunderbolt vs. Starmie: 200-236 (61.9 - 73%) -- guaranteed 2HKO | Starmie Psychic vs. Jolteon: 200-236 (58.3 - 68.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Competitive Overview: Bootleg Gallade acts as a slower, slightly weaker Alakazam that can take on Chansey more easily with Fire Punch for Exeggutor and access to Hypnosis, but no Recover. Being a Psychic-type that doesn't resist Psychic sucks, but it has most of the great qualities of Psychics + a positive matchup against Chansey, so I could imagine this stacking on teams with Alakazam or Starmie to get rid of the foe's Chansey and annoy Snorlax (Submission does 39-46%) without having to explode like Exeggutor needs to

Anyway, Absol's a weird hybrid of offense and defense here, with one of the highest Attack stats in the game and access to SD, Drill Peck, Hyper Beam, and Slash, with perfectly usable Special and Blizzard to hit Rhydon, plus defensive utility in TWave and a Ground immunity. It's quite a glass cannon though, taking a huge chunk from almost anything and Wish doesn't exist for it unfortunately

Competitive Overview: Gunfisk is unique among Ground-types by not instantly dying to Water or Ice moves and being able to cripple the likes of Eggy and Starmie with TWave and also making it the only Thunder Wave user immune to to Thunder Wave. Its great physical bulk helps it check Rhydon, Zapdos, and Jolteon while having just enough bulk to tank 2 Blizzards 99.3% of the time from Tauros and cripple it with TWave. While its typing and Special lets it take 1 Water or Ice move from most things, Gunfisk still struggles against the likes of Starmie, Jynx, and Slowbro, and even stuff that doesn't have super effective STAB like non-Drain Exeggutor can beat it 1v1 or pressure it into using Rest and becoming a sitting duck, plus its 81 Atk and low crit rate makes it quite passive, being absolutely abused by Starmie and causing it to lose to Chansey and Alakazam 1v1 without a lot of full paras because of their recovery and the eventuality of getting frozen or having your Special dropped

Competitive Overview: An absolutely dreadful typing, compensated for with a BST near that of the legendary birds and great offensive tools. It's a Rock-type that doesn't switch into any Normals beyond EQ-less Lax, for obvious reasons, and Starmie can sit in front of it happily too. Having a high burn chance is nice and all, but a Pokemon with Heatran's Speed tier and a partial trapping move in Fire Spin really wants things paralyzed instead. Good special bulk gives it a workable matchup against the likes of Alakazam, Jolteon, and Exeggutor but that's about it- even then, Rock Slide doesn't 2HKO Alakazam from full. Removed Explosion as it can make switching otherwise safe mons like Chansey or Starmie in very risky, while Self-Destruct still puts a respectable amount of pressure on those mons after they've switched in on another attack. On the fence about keeping/removing Fire Spin but it seems quite inconsistent anyway.

Competitive Overview: Wow, another Amnesia-using Water-type! This one packs Poliwrath-esque bulk, a solid typing and Attack stat that affords it usable physical STAB in Body Slam and Hyper Beam, and even a (unreliable and hard to fit) sleep move in Sing- however, it's the weakest Amnesia user around and lacks either Poliwrath's better Speed and ability to easily muscle through Chansey, Slowbro's fantastic Psychic typing, superior bulk, and Thunder Wave, or Snorlax's general superiority (although this does free up your Snorlax, of course). Still seems unique enough on paper to warrant usage and create interesting dynamics.

Competitive Overview: Another take on Drapion that inherits from Skorupi for a synergistic typing that, while still flawed, compensates for weaknesses of both individual typings surprisingly well. Drapion's natural access to STAB Twineedle is great, providing it with a 2HKO on scary Psychic-type Pokemon like Alakazam and Jynx, although it still misses the 2HKO against Starmie. This pairs nicely with Earthquake to deal decent damage to Rhydon, and Slash as a solid neutral move. It can bolster its offense with Swords Dance and Agility, too, although finding opportunities to do so with such a poor defensive typing and middling bulk may prove difficult, and Drapion's mediocre damage output means it will take substantial prior damage on the opposing team for a sweep to be possible. The reduced HP stat stops Drapion from having a winnable one-on-one matchup versus Tauros and makes it less likely to win versus Rhydon one-on-one too.

Pokémon: Mimikyu
Category: Fairy
New Type: Ghost
Stats: 55/90/80/50/96
New Moves: N/A
Removed Moves: All moves not in Gen 1, Psychic
Competitive Overview: Re-tuned into a mono-Ghost type that has nice attributes in its good typing for fighting Normal spammers like Tauros and Snorlax but falls flat against a couple key mons, like Rhydon or Gengar, due to limited movepool and poor Special.
Leech Life, Light Screen, Protect, Rest, Substitute, Thunder, Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Toxic, Double Team, Hyper Beam, Mimic, Scratch, Screech, Slash, Splash, Swords Dance
*moves in italics are banned
Example Set:
Mimikyu
- Slash
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Hyper Beam / Rest
Slash is your main attacking move, consistently dishing out critical hits and letting Mimikyu plow through Reflect users like Snorlax and Chansey. Thunder Wave is a good move. Thunderbolt is your main way of doing something to already-paralyzed Pokemon like Gengar, or against super physiacally bulky mons like Cloyster. Hyper Beam is a stronger finisher if needed, and Rest can potentially keep you healthy if keeping it around to bully Normal-types is important. Mimikyu's movepool is pretty bad so scraping something together will likely be necessary: God forbid this actually needs to start running some trash like Toxic or Mimic.

New Type: Psychic/Flying
Stats: 60/95/60/95/105
New Moves: Thunderbolt, Thunder, Ice Beam, Psychic
Removed Moves: All moves not in Gen 1.
Competitive Overview: Psychic/Flying has some unique properties in that you have a check to incoming Psychics and a Ground immunity in one slot, but with unimpressive offensive stats outside of good speed Murkrow faces lots of competition from other Psychics like Alakazam or Starmie, and a Flying-type makes it vulnerable to the multitude of Blizzards/Thunderbolts being tossed around. The biggest asset here is Drill Peck, which aids Murkrow in dealing with Pokemon that can stand in the way of its good Special coverage, such as Chansey, Exeggutor, Jynx, and Alakazam, especially if those Pokemon are paralyzed.

Drill Peck, Haze, Ice Beam, Night Shade, Protect, Psychic, Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Quick Attack, Rest, Thunder, Toxic, Double Team, Fly, Mirror Move, Peck, Sky Attack, Swift, Wing Attack
*moves in italics are banned
Example Set:
Murkrow
- Drill Peck
- Psychic
- Thunderbolt / Thunder Wave
- Ice Beam / Thunder Wave
Dual STAB is quite good against a large portion of the meta, Psychic is as spammable as ever and Drill Peck picking up some of the slack against Special tanks/walls. The last two slots are pretty customizeable, Thunderbolt can be nice for Waters like Slowbro, while Ice Beam has stupid freeze + extra damage versus Rhydon. Being physically frail and vulnerable to faster threats (and thus fast Thunder Waves) is a struggle but otherwise having a Special Attacker with good Physical and decent crit rate sounds like a cool niche in the tier.

New Moves: Mega Drain, Conversion, Rock Slide, Recover (Reflect, Toxic, Rage, Mimic, Bide, Double Edge, Take Down, Body Slam and Double Team as universals)
Removed Moves: none
Competitive Overview: Conversion is a dope move in Gen 1 (its the same effect as Reflect Type, which Gunfisk learns). This gives Gunfisk a cool niche in a paraspam meta, being immune to Electric and TWave normally, but can also use Conversion against a Normal-type to be immune to Body Slam para. It's bulky enough to do well against Snorlax and Tauros as a Normal type. It does end up being pretty passive due to its low attacking stats and awful crit rate.

Set:
Stunfisk-Galar

Bind, Counter, Dig, Earthquake, Fissure, Rest, Rock Slide, Screech, Substitute, Surf, Tackle, Thunder Wave, Water Gun | Mega Drain, Conversion, Rock Slide, Toxic, Body Slam, Recover, Mimic, Double Team, Bide, Double Team, Rage, Take Down, Reflect

Removed Moves: Amnesia
Competitive Overview: awful stats for Gen 1 aside (beating Farfetch'd's record of lowest BST for a FE Pokemon by 33 points...), Shiinotic can show that stats aren't always everything. Acting as a Normal immunity and a Ground resist already offers some awesome role compression. It also spreads para with TWave or Stun Spore, as well as spreading sleep with Spore. Apparently has 'Tangela syndrome' in that it looks pretty good until you get to the narrow movepool.

Set:
Shiinotic

Competitive Overview: Less physical bulk than Rhydon and lacking Golem's Explosion may put Tyranitar in an interesting spot. However, its lack of a blizzard weakness and its substantially better special gives it a great niche. It can still act as a Zapdos check and its Rock Slide is pretty strong. It also gets access to Thunder Wave to spread paralysis. Earthquake weakness is going to hold it back against the Normals, and Reflect Chansey/Snorlax can actually beat it unless it slots Rest.

My 2 cents on some of the submissions so far! I'm primarily grading based on viability (not how good a mon is, just whether it's viable or not), flavor (whether competitive stuff makes logical sense) and barriers for entry (preferably as few changes as possible).

Stats: 82/80/86/85/72 (BST: 405)

Competitive Overview: Slurpuff is a mix of Exeggutor by typing & Golduck by strategy. Slurpuff sets up with Amnesia & fires off strong Psychic, Razor Leaf/Mega Drain, Surf, Thunder/Thunderbolt, & Flamethrower. Goluck falls flat because of its poor physical bulk & bad coverage. Slurpuff comes in with a decent typing, a strong Spc stat, Amnesia, good coverage, & Explosion. Slurpuff still suffers from something like Chansey or physical attackers though. I might have to remove some coverage if this proves to be too threatening.

Sableye has Recover & Hypnosis which are major boons & it is basically Gengar but exchanges stats & Explosion for a better type & recovery.

I love these submissions! Steelix looks like a solid alternative to Rhydon thanks to Bind and Explosion, while Sableye could be a great wall for the Normals while also absorbing Explosion - I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes the meta's "new" Porygon. For Slurpuff, I think a pure Normal typing would work better for flavor purposes and to avoid Body Slam paras (Explosion could be removed if too strong on such a mon). Compared to AmnesiaLax, this Slurpuff would be faster but it would lack immediate power:

New Moves: Bind
Competitive Overview: Guzzlord here functions primarily as a switch-in to Psychics like Alakazam and Exeggutor, taking some pressure of Chansey to check them at all times. Unlike Chansey, Guzzlord can actually generate momentum off of the Pokemon it walls either through Bind pivoting or setting up with Amnesia. Both of these aren't overwhelming, as Bind is weak and has shoddy accuracy while Guzzlord's only special moves are Fire-type.

Cut...

New Type:

Stats: 65/100/70/80/105 (420)

Stats: 77 HP / 58 Atk / 67 Def / 128 Spc / 101 Spe (431 BST)
New Moves: Psychic, Teleport
Removed Moves: Everything past gen 1
Competitive Overview: Explicitly less speed and special than both Alakazam and Gengar. However, this mon gets Thunder Wave, meaning it could potentially paralyze the powerful grand ghostly Gengar and then fire off Psychic on it because for some fucking reason the one mon that should have been viable to fuck with Psychic types is fucking weak to Psychic moves (Jesus what were the gen 1 devs thinking). Basically, you’re taking out some of Zam’s vital offenses in exchange for an extra STAB.
I think this Sneasel would work fine with stats closer to its canonical ones (I suggest 55 / 95 / 55 / 75 / 115). With this, Sneasel would be the only Swords Dance user to outspeed Tauros, and it can screw over Rhydon with Surf.
Sneasel
- Swords Dance
- Strength / Slash / Low Kick

Bisharp could be pure Rock, as I'm not sure why Ghost would fit here. I would also recommend Earthquake because Rocks generally get the move. I can also see a pure Normal spread working with SD, Hyper Beam, Slash and (added) Submission. I suppose Dedenne in this state wouldn't be viable without a big stat overhaul. Super Fang may be problematic on this mon but that can be put to practice.

I'll add more in the meantime.

Hello! Voting will begin in about 24 hours and I wanted to give a heads-up to some potentially broken subs that will likely get vetoed when voting starts in their current state. Unlike in JolteMons where we had a whole 24 hour veto phase with submissions closed during that time, submissions will still be open for the next 24 hours, consider this more of a warning than a full-on veto phase, so anyone can edit their submissions or post new ones during this time

128 Spc on a mon with great dual STAB and a decent typing that resists two of the best Special types in the game with decent enough physical bulk to take a couple hits is just a smidge too much for RBY as it is. I'd recommend lowering the Special stat to around 100 and removing Super Fang since it allows it to get past Exeggcute and Rhydon too easily

Competitive Overview: Fast revenge killer that has STAB Fighting moves. Lacks the power to OHKO most other Pokemon without a crit, but can clean up against many water and normal types with some pre existing damage. It also has high enough special to survive 1 strong STAB Psychic, tho it can't say the same about EQ. It's stats have been re-engineered such that it speed ties with Starmie, and is slower than Zam, so this isn't just power creeped Jolteon.
This one seems like a nightmare to deal with, between its high powered Fighting STAB moves bodying the Big 3 Normals and most Electric resists, STAB TBolt hitting Waters, and TWave hitting everything else, pretty much only Exeggutor can really attempt to beat this. Not to mention, it could easily cheese its way past things with TWave + Rolling Kick flinches. Thus, if you wanna keep it Electric/Fighting, I'd recommend dropping its Attack to around 95, making it slower than 110 so Tauros outspeeds it, and removing Rolling Kick and HJK. Alternatively, you could keep its stats, make it pure Electric, and still remove HJK and Rolling Kick
:mimikyu:
Pokémon: Mimikyu
Category: Fairy
New Type: Ghost/Normal
Stats: 55/90/80/50/96
New Moves: N/A
Removed Moves: All moves not in Gen 1, Psychic, Swords Dance
Competitive Overview: Mimikyu's main niche comes from a fantastic Ghost/Normal typing, leaving it with zero weaknesses (as if either typing had them in the first place). Although Normal's immunity to Body Slam paralysis is undermined by being immune to Normal moves in general, getting STAB on Slash and Hyper Beam is massively beneficial and lets Mimikyu threaten damage on a wide variety of Pokemon, in particular the Normal types that struggle to threaten it. Unfortunately, with the removal of Psychic from Mimikyu's movepool, it has immense trouble dealing with Pokemon tasked to take on other Normal types, such as Gengar and Rhydon. This greatly limits its offensive potential and mostly relegates it to serving as a pivot to force out various Normals, either hoping to catch the opponent via doubling out or attempting to Thunder Wave the switch-in. Its low Special and less-than-ideal Speed stat means it is also preyed upon by the various faster and strong Special Attackers in the tier, such as Alakazam, Zapdos, Starmie, and Jolteon. Overall, Mimikyu can succeed in bullying some top threats, especially the three Normals, and has good potential late-game, but must keep itself healthy and get assistance from teammates to deal with its most problematic matchups if it wants to succeed.
Ghost/Normal is an insanely good typing in RBY, letting Mimikyu virtually wall Tauros and Snorlax while dealing obscene damage with auto-crit Slashes off of 90 Atk, not mention nothing wanting to take a TWave from it either. I'd recommend making it pure Ghost and maybe lowering its physical bulk a little bit
:murkrow:
Pokémon: Murkrow
Category: Dark
New Type: Ghost/Flying
Stats: 65/85/65/105/105
New Moves: Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Ice Beam, Flamethrower, Psychic
Removed Moves: All moves not in Gen 1.
Competitive Overview: Pretty much some hybridization of Murkrow + Mismagius. I mean they're kinda based on the same thing. Basically a less powerful Gengar in terms of Speed + Special Attack, but with a different typing, extra coverage, and able to actually use Physical Moves not named Explosion. Drill Peck helps it out a ton as a generally weaker Special Attacker as it gets through the various high Special Pokemon in the tier, especially with paralysis support or a couple lucky crits off your good Speed stat. Potential targets can include Exeggutor, Chansey, Alakazam, and the rarer Victreebel. Ghost/Normal is interesting as you can wall out stuff like non-Blizzard Snorlax, and get switch-in opportunities on stuff like Tauros. You can also play pretty risky into something like Rhydon, who can only hit you with Rock Slide (which you live) and would generally rather use its other moves, compared to something like Gengar who just drops to Earthquake and can't really threaten Rhydon back too much. Being weak to Ice and Electric moves helps balance this out, as they are common coverage options on most Pokemon in the metagame.
Similarly to Mimikyu, Ghost/Flying is also an insane defensive typing, essentially allowing Murkrow to wall every physical attacker in the game since the only good physical move that can dent it is the rare Rock Slide. This plus good Special and a significantly buffed movepool would make Murkrow an absolute pain to deal with, even with a BoltBeam weakness. I'd recommend replacing Ghost with a different type, since it would be way harder to make this balanced with that typing. (Also, minor nitpick, but Murkrow already gets TWave, so you don't have to add it)
:shiinotic:
Pokémon: Shiinotic
Category: Fairy
New Type: Grass/Ghost
Stats: 60/45/80/100/30 [315 BST]
New Moves: none
Removed Moves: N/A
Competitive Overview: awful stats for Gen 1 aside (beating Farfetch'd's record of lowest BST for a FE Pokemon by 33 points...), Shiinotic can show that stats aren't always everything. Acting as a Normal immunity and a Ground resist already offers some awesome role compression. It also spreads para with TWave or Stun Spore, as well as spreading sleep with Spore. Amnesia also can go pretty hard, though Mega Drain as its only STAB is sus, it does have the highest SpA of all Amnesia users.
We talked about this one on the RBY Discord (shoutouts to them for helping me make this warning list btw) and it's probably fine now that you removed Recover. I'm still a little apprehensive about Spore + TWave with such a good typing, but if others say it's fine then it's fine
:zarude:
Pokémon: Zarude
Category: Dark
New Type: Grass/Fighting
Stats: 105/120/105/60/105
New Moves: Submission, Leech Seed, Double Edge, Body Slam,
Removed Moves:
Competitive Overview: Fast fighting type which can threaten the normals in the meta but low special bulk means it's gonna have a hard time facing against psychic types and Tauros coverage
This one only needs a couple minor changes to be fine, mainly dropping its HP down to around 80 to make it a bit easier for physical attackers (namely Tauros) to revenge kill it if weakened and removing Bind because it's a super good move to have on something that can easily threaten Tauros when healthy. Swords Dance might also be too much on this since it has by far the best offensive spread out of anything with it

Also a general note, one thing you have to keep in mind when subbing Pokemon to add to Gen 1 without completely changing it is that Pokemon had really bad stats in Gen 1. Because of this and the DV system, it's really easy to make a super bulky Pokemon with fairly low stats. For example, Starmie is pretty bulky in Gen 1 and has Recover, which makes it amazing, but nowadays it's pretty frail without significant investment. Thus, you want to be careful with giving things super high Special stats without also giving them low HP stats, as they'll easily become super bulky. Same applies to giving things decent HP stats and Defense stats, it makes Pokemon a lot bulkier than you'd think. Thus, it's best to aim down when making statlines unless the mon in question has other factors that balance it, like earl's Kartana that's balanced because it has no movepool.
Another thing to note is that it's really hard to make Ghost types balanced because of how insanely good of a defensive typing Ghost is in Gen 1 because its immune to the best type in the game. Thus, giving Ghosts recovery is pretty much always a no-go and you'll want to either give them low stats or some other debilitating weakness, like Gengar's physical frailty and EQ weakness. Thus, you should be very careful when making Ghosts, since it's very easy to make them a lot hard to beat

That's all for now, see you for voting in 24 hours!

Submissions have been updated, Mimikyu is now Ghost only while retaining much of the same weaknesses (typing alone should carry it), and Murkrow is now more of its own identity as a fast Psychic that can beat weakened Psychics/Chansey but has to be wary of them otherwise.

You are completely right, I didn't tune Koko down enough to make up for the awesome physical STAB moves I gave it.
I have removed HJK, Jump Kick, and Rolling Kick, as well as lowered the stats as you recommended, while maintaining the Fighting type. I have updated the "misc calcs" section accordingly. With these changes, it can no longer 2HKO Snorlax or Rhydon without a crit

Tapu Koko Submission vs. Rhydon: 149-176 (36 - 42.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
In the event that a full health Rhydon switches into Submission, clicks EQ as Koko stays in to fish for a crit, Koko hits both Submissions and gets at least one of them to crit about 23.5% of the time, (Also if both hits are low damage rolls, Koko needs both to crit in order to 2HKO); Rhydon is switching into a faster STAB SE attack and is still winning over 3/4ths of the time, that is better than I was expecting.

:empoleon:
Pokémon: Empoleon
Category: Steel
New Type:

Stats: 84/86/88/111/60 Bst: 540
New Moves:
Removed Moves: All none gen1 moves
Notable Moves: Agility, Blizzard, Drill Peck, Earthquake, Blizzard, Hydro pump, Surf, Swords Dance
Movepool: Agility, Blizzard, Drill peck, Earthquake, Ice beam, Hydro pump, Surf, Roar, Rock slide, Substitute, Toxic, Swords dance, Waterfall, Bide, Cut, Fury attack, Growl, Hyper beam, Supersonic, Sing, Double team, Tackle
Competitive Overview: Offensive Mixed Flying Type. It is able to threaten pokemon like exeggutor on the weaker physical side and pokemon with lower special with Stab Hydro pump/surf. It would be the one of few flying types in gen1 capable of damaging and koing rhydon and golem. It is also able to boost its speed with agility and its attack with swords dance. Finally, It has a sleep move in sing and could possible be a niche lead as it has good enough special to take attacks from common leads like alakazam and jynx. Pokemon like starmie who dont mind drill peck and resist hydro pump and surf check empoleon pretty real with their super effective coverage and great bulk. Empoleon fears electric type coverage in general which is pretty common in rby ou.

:doublade:
Pokémon: Doublade
Category: STEEL
New Type: Ghost
Stats: 59 / 110 / 150 / 45 / 35
Moves: Bide, Counter, Cut, Double Edge, Harden, Hyper Beam, Mimic, Night Shade, Razor Wind, Reflect, Rest, Screech, Swift, Submission, Substitute, Swords Dance, Tackle, Take Down, Toxic, Tri Attack [Double Team, Guillotine]
Removed Moves: None
Competitive Overview: Seems like it'd be strong and fun I guess? It can't Rest loop Tauros effectively as it dies as soon as a crit lands (and can't do much back).

Tauros Earthquake vs. Doublade: 108-128 (33.6 - 39.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
Doublade Slash vs. Tauros on a critical hit: 108-127 (30.5 - 35.9%) -- 47.2% chance to 3HKO

Pokémon: Scrafty

Moves: Bide, Body Slam, Counter, Double Edge, Dragon Rage, Earthquake, High Jump Kick, Hyper Beam, Karate Chop, Leer, Low Kick, Mega Kick, Mega Punch, Metronome, Mimic, Rage, Rest, Sand Attack, Seismic Toss, Skull Bash, Strength, Submission, Substitute, Super Fang, Take Down, Toxic [Double Team, Dig]
Removed Moves: Amnesia, Fire Punch, Ice Punch, Thunderpunch, Roar
Competitive Overview: Bulky Fighting type. Well, bulkier than Hitmonchan anyway that's for sure.

Scrafty High Jump Kick vs. Snorlax on a critical hit: 434-510 (82.9 - 97.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (to break past the Reflect)

:comfey:
Pokémon: Comfey
Category: FAIRY
New Type: Psychic
Stats: 51 / 52 / 90 / 110 / 100
Moves: Bind, Confusion, Flash, Growth, Hyper Beam, Leech Seed, Light Screen, Mega Drain, Mimic, Petal Dance, Psybeam, Psychic, Psywave, Razor Leaf, Reflect, Rest, Solarbeam, Substitute, Swift, Teleport, Toxic, Tri Attack, Vine Whip, Wrap [Double Team]
Removed Moves: Amnesia
Competitive Overview: It's a pretty naturally fast Wrap user, but it really doesn't have any consistent way of pressuring other Psychics nor faster Mons. Growth + Psychic is unique but with coverage being limited pretty much to STAB Psychic and non STAB Razor Leaf (not boosted by Growth) or Mega Drain (base 40), this would hopefully be pretty manageable for your average team.
