Nickname Origin:The nickname is a reference to the eponymous American avian paleontologist Larry Dean Martin.
The Yanornis martini species of the Yanornis genus, fish-eating Early Cretaceous birds, was named after him.
The name is derived from the combination of the Mandarin Chinese word Yàn niǎo (燕鸟), meaning ❝bird from the Yan dynasty❞ and the Ancient Greek word ornis (ορνις), meaning ❝bird❞.
