NU Gastrodon [QC 2/2] [GP 2/2]

[OVERVIEW]

Gastrodon stands out as a great defensive pillar with its great bulk, useful defensive typing, and reliable recovery. It effectively checks tier staples like Stakataka, Salazzle, and Drapion, and Storm Drain helps it check Water-types like Inteleon, Starmie, and Vaporeon. Grass-types like Dhelmise, Tsareena, and Alolan Exeggutor can be problematic for Gastrodon, and it has to be worried about Grass-type coverage like Power Whip Copperajah and Grass Knot Heliolisk. Gastrodon's also quite weak, letting bulky setup sweepers like Snorlax and Scrafty completely take advantage of it, even shrugging off Toxic. Additionally, while Gastrodon's ability and typing make it a great wall, powerful wallbreakers like Choice Specs Indeedee-F and Vanilluxe can expose its only-average bulk. Gastrodon also faces stiff competition from other bulky Water-types such as Mantine and Vaporeon, which are less susceptible to coverage moves from Pokemon they check.

Ice Beam allows Gastrodon to threaten incoming Grass-types like Rotom-C, Tsareena, and Alolan Exeggutor and complements Earth Power by hitting Flying-type such as Xatu and Galarian Articuno. Scald can be used in place of Ice Beam to hit the likes of Silvally-Ground and Aerodactyl with a more powerful attack while threatening a burn on physical wallbreakers like Tauros and Decidueye. Toxic compensates for Gastrodon's passivity, crippling bulky Water-types like Mantine and Vaporeon and limiting how much other switch-ins like Eldegoss and Rotom-C can threaten it. Maximum Defense investment lets Gastrodon take on physical wallbreakers like Toxicroak and Aerodactyl more effectively, and even without special bulk investment, Gastrodon can effectively beat Starmie and Salazzle.

Steel-types like Stakataka, Copperajah, and Duraludon appreciate Gastrodon checking Fire- and Ground-type Pokemon; in return, they can check Grass-types. Weezing, Xatu, and Talonflame make great partners, checking Grass-types and physical wallbreakers like Aerodactyl, Toxicroak, and Copperajah. Heal Bell support makes Gastrodon more resilient against Toxic users; clerics like Sylveon and Diancie appreciate Gastrodon checking Steel-types like Stakataka and Silvally-Steel.

Sticky Hold can be a good ability to run on Gastrodon, making it a solid Knock Off absorber against Drapion and Guzzlord and blocking Trick. However, it no longer can reliably check strong Water-type wallbreakers like Starmie and Inteleon. Curse sets can make Gastrodon a decent offensive Pokemon with moves like Waterfall and Earthquake but remain outclassed by Snorlax, which is immune to Toxic and is a better defensive option to fall back on. Clear Smog helps against bulky setup sweepers like Snorlax and Scrafty. For EVs, Gastrodon can run a fully specially defensive spread to better check Heliolisk, Inteleon, and Galarian Articuno; however, due to its average physical bulk, it'd be easily beaten by wallbreakers like Silvally-Ground, Tauros, and Golurk.

Checks and Counters
====

**Grass-types and Grass-type Coverage**: Grass types like Rotom-C, Decidueye, Tsareena, and Alolan Exeggutor can OHKO Gastrodon with their STAB attacks, but they need to be worried about Toxic and Ice Beam. Grass-type coverage like Copperajah's Power Whip and Heliolisk's Grass Knot can OHKO or heavily damage Gastrodon, but it can survive one Grass Knot from Heliolisk and hit it with Earth Power or Earthquake.

**Setup Sweepers**: Snorlax's Immunity and Rest make it completely safe from Gastrodon's status afflictions, whereas Scrafty's Shed Skin lets it continuously set up in front of Gastrodon without fear of poison or burn.

**Powerful Wallbreakers**: Choice Specs Indeedee-F, Drampa, and Exploud can hit Gastrodon hard with their STAB attacks, while Vanilluxe can OHKO Gastrodon with Freeze-Dry. Meanwhile, some physical wallbreakers like Choice Band Passimian, Tauros, and Golurk can bypass Gastrodon after minimal chip damage.

[Overview]

Gastrodon stands out as a great defense pillar with its great bulk, great defensive typing, and an reliable recovery. I'm no GP checker but you say "great" a lot here :o While checking tier stables staples like Mudsdale, Talonflame, Stakataka, Salazzle, Drapion, Toxicroak, and Silvally-Ground Stakataka, Salazzle, and Drapion While all of what you listed is technically correct with the exception of Silvally-Ground, I selected the few Pokemon that get Gastrodon's niche across without being excessive., and with it’s Storm Drain ability it checks water types like Inteleon, Starmie, and Araquanid Vaporeon Araquanid usually uses Substitute Toxic sets which beat Gastrodon pretty hard. Toxic can be good to annoyed pokemon like Tauros, Arcanine, and Mantine. Toxic annoys everything, not really needed information However, Grass-types like Dhelmise, Tsareena, and Exeggutor-Alola can be problematic for Gastrodon and they can force it out, while Gastrodon has to be worried about grass type coverage like Power Whip Copperaja, and Grass Knot Heliolisk. Power wallbreakers and Setup sweepers like Snorlax, Scrafty, Vanilluxe, Exploud, and Indeedee-F can be problems for Gastrodon. I would separate these two issues as wallbreakers and setup sweepers abuse different things. Gastrodon's attacking stats are quite weak, letting bulky setup sweepers like Snorlax and Scrafty completely take advantage of it, evening shrugging off Toxic. Additionally, while Gastrodon's ability and typing makes it a great wall, powerful wallbreakers like Choice Specs Indeedee-F and Vanilluxe can expose its only average bulk. Gastrodon also has to face water competition with Mantine, Mantine can checks grass types with it’s stab Hurricane, while checking the popular water Immunity Toxicroak. You don't have to explain what Mantine does; just listing Water-types it faces competition with is fine. Gastrodon also faces stiff competition from other bulky Water-types such as Mantine and Vaporeon.

Gastrodon stab Earth Power can hit Fire, Rock, and Steel types hard, while Earthquake is definitely a stronger choice than Earth Power, however Earth power is just more strong due to Gastrodon solid special attack and can get a +1 Special Atk if it gets hit by an water attack. STAB moves are self explanatory Ice Beam is excellent coverage to hit Grass- and Flying-type pokémon, Scald can be good to get annoying burn on powerful wallbreakers like Grimmsnarl, Golurk, Tauros, and Passimian, however it makes Gastrodon coverage more limiting due to Grass types can hit Scald and Earth Power and can revenge kill Gastrodon with there grass stab, so Ice Beam is definitely important move for Gastrodon. another part that can be separated as they both have in-depth reasons Ice Beam allows Gastrodon to threaten incoming Grass-types like Rotom-C, Tsareena, and Alolan-Exeggutor, while further complementing Earth Power in hitting Flying-types such as Xatu and Galarian-Articuno. Scald can be used in place of Ice Beam to hit the likes of Silvally-Ground or Aerodactyl with a more powerful STAB coverage move, all while threatening a burn on any incoming physical wallbreaker like Tauros or Decidueye. Toxic is an another great move that Gastrodon can cripple the bulky walls and offensive threats like Mudsdale, Heliolisk, Starmie, and opposing Gastrodon. opposing bulky Water-types like Mantine and other Gastrodon, while accumulating passive damage against incoming offensive threats like Grass-types, greatly limiting the number of times they can safely switch into Gastrodon. Leftovers is definitely important for longevity to make Gastrodon a physical defense tank, while Heavy-Duty Boots can be useful to block entry hazards. Self explanatory maximum defense investment lets Gastrodon best take on physical wallbreakers like Toxicroak and Aerodactyl, and even without special bulk, Gastrodon can effectively beat Starmie and Salazzle.

Steel types like Stakataka, Copperajah, and Duraludon appreciate Gastrodon to check Fire- and fighting Not really a Fighting-type check Ground-type pokemon in return they can check Grass-types that can pressure Gastrodon. Weezing and Talonflame can make great partners for Gastrodon not only checking grass types, but they can burned power wallbreakers like Aerodactyl, Toxicroak, and Copperajah, making it more easier for Gastrodon to eat their powerful attacks. Weezing in particular can check bulky water types like Mantine, and Vaporeon with Taunt making it more difficult to recover off the damage with Roost and Wish respectively. Weezing technically 1v1's these, but it doesn't like to and also Gastrodon can effectively beat them anyway. Xatu is an another great partner for Gastrodon it can bounce back entry hazards, Taunt, and toxic which can be problematic for Gastrodon. Xatu does this for everything, doesn't really explain why its good for Gastrodon in particular, you could move Xatu up to where Weezing and Talonflame are mentioned and change the notion of them burning physical Pokemon to just checking them. Heal Bell support makes Gastrodon more resilient against toxic users, clerics pokemon like Sylveon, and Diancie appreciate Gastrodon to check Steel types like Stakataka and Silvally-Steel.

Curse sets can make Gastrodon a decent offensive pokemon with moves like Waterfall and Earthquake for stab to hit opponents hard, however it’s just outclassed by Snorlax who is Immune to toxic and Snorlax can take a few hits with it’s excellent bulk. Clear Smog is definitely good option to remove set up sweeps like Toxicroak, Scrafty, Snorlax, and Silvally ground. Sludge Bomb can be a good option to replace Ice beam and opponents have to worried about Sludge Bomb nasty 30% to poison. Sludge Bomb is always the worse version of either Ice Beam or Toxic or Clear Smog For evs Gastrodon can run a fully special defense pokemon to check Exploud, Inteleon, and Articuno-Galar, however due to Gastrodon average defensive it could be hit hard by power Physical wallbreakers like Silvally-Ground, Tauros, and Golurk.

While Snorlax is Immune to toxic and it could take week Scalds from Gastrodon. If Snorlax does get burned by Scald it could just rest of the damage it took from the scald and can heal it’s burn, and it could setup curse and can hit Gastrodon with an stab Body Slam.

**Powerful Wallbreakers**: Specs Indeedee-F and Exploud can hit Gastrodon hard with their stab of Expanding Force and Boomburst respectively, while Vanilluxe can OHKO Gastrodon with it’s stab Freeze-Dry, however they all need to be very carful about being poison by Toxic.

**Toxic**: Gastrodon hates getting poison by Toxic Users, due to toxic increases of damage gastrodon has to recover off the damage. however, it has to recover damage from powerful wallbreakers that gastrodon has to check, which can make it more easily to worn out Gastrodon to be in KO range. self explanatory as a defensive wall not immune to toxic

You have not addressed the format-related issues. I'll point them out for you so you can do so:

- in the set, you need to have the bits before each colon in lowercase (so it should be name:, not Name:)
- in the set, you should NOT be using commas to separate the EVs; you should be using forward slashes
- Checks and Counters should NOT have brackets around it
- in the Credits, you need a space after each hyphen
- in the Credits, you should only use one set of brackets around each person's username and user ID. An example of proper formatting:

- Written by: [[Pika134, 723589]]
- Quality Checked by: [[Togkey, 400664], [Rabia, 336073]]

Fix these issues, and then you can have QC 2/2

**Setup Sweepers**: Snorlax and Scrafty can set up in front of Gastrodon, with Scrafty ability Shed Skin it can ignored both toxic and Scald burns and can setup with Bulk Up and it can hit Gastrodon hard with it’s stab Knock off. While Snorlax is Immune to toxic and it could take week Scalds from Gastrodon. If Snorlax does get burned by Scald it could just rest off the damage it took from the scald and can heal it’s burn, and it could setup curse and can hit Gastrodon with an stab Body Slam. Snorlax's Immunity and Rest make it completely safe from Gastrodon's status afflictions, whereas Scrafty's Shed Skin lets it continuously set up in front of Gastrodon without fear of being poisoned or burned.

Meanwhile, some physical wallbreakers like Choice Band Passimian, Tauros, and Golurk can bypass Gastrodon with minimal chip damage needed.

Grass-types like Dhelmise, Tsareena, and Alolan Exeggutor can be problematic for Gastrodon, comma and it has to be worried about Grass-type coverage like Power Whip Copperajah and Grass Knot Heliolisk. Gastrodon's also quite weak, letting bulky setup sweepers like Snorlax and Scrafty completely take advantage of it, evening shrugging off Toxic. Additionally, while Gastrodon's ability and typing make it a great wall, powerful wallbreakers like Choice Specs Indeedee-F and Vanilluxe can expose its only-average bulk hyphen.

Scald can be used in place of Ice Beam to hit the likes of Silvally-Ground and Aerodactyl with a more powerful attack while threatening a burn on any incoming physical wallbreaker like Tauros and Decidueye.

Steel-types like Stakataka, Copperajah, and Duraludon appreciate Gastrodon to check checking Fire- and Ground-type Pokemon; in return, they can check Grass-types that pressure Gastrodon. Weezing, Xatu, and Talonflame can make great partners, checking Grass-types and physical wallbreakers like Aerodactyl, Toxicroak, and Copperajah, taking some pressure off of Gastrodon. Heal Bell support makes Gastrodon more resilient against Toxic users; clerics like Sylveon and Diancie appreciate Gastrodon checking Steel-types like Stakataka and Silvally-Steel.

Other Opinions

Sticky Hold can be a good ability to run on Gastrodon, making it a solid Knock Off absorber against Drapion and Guzzlord and blocking Trick. However, it no longer can reliably check strong Water-type wallbreakers like Starmie and Inteleon. Curse sets can make Gastrodon a decent offensive Pokemon with moves like Waterfall and Earthquake but remains remain outclass by Snorlax, which is immune to Toxic and is a better defensive option to fall back on. Clear Smog helps against bulky setup sweepers like Snorlax and Scrafty. For EVs, Gastrodon can run a fully specially defensive spread to better check Heliolisk, Inteleon, and Galarian Articuno; however, due to its average physical bulk, it'd be easy beaten by wallbreakers like Silvally-Ground, Tauros, and Golurk.
