Garchomp @ Assault Vest
Ability: Rough Skin
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Scale Shot
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Fire Fang / Brick Break

Garchomp returns to dominance in the Series 9 metagame of BSS, this time wearing a unique item—Assault Vest! Garchomp is a top-tier Dynamax user with its ability to take on the two most-used Pokemon and Dynamax targets one-on-one—Zapdos and Cinderace. With Assault Vest and excellent natural bulk, Garchomp can tank moves from Dynamaxed Zapdos and Cinderace and hit back hard with its own Max Moves. Scale Shot into Max Knuckle has nice synergy by effectively giving Garchomp a Dragon Dance boost, while Fire Fang is nicer to nail Pokemon that can tank an Earthquake such as Ferrothorn and Kartana. Garchomp still struggles to deal with Fairy-types like Mimikyu and Tapu Fini as well as bulky Pokemon with access to recovery. Partners like Toxapex and Ferrothorn cover the Fairy-type weakness, while hard hitters like Urshifu-R and Cinderace can punch through Porygon2 and Hippowdon for Garchomp to clean up in the end game.

You perfectly outlined why Garchomp has become a major Pokemon again in gen 8. Only nitpick is Garchomp has actually been a bit below the top 10 in usage (Pikalytics is often out of date), being #13 last season and #15 currently according to Pokemon Home. Not a huge deal though, you can just say that Garchomp has simpily established itself as a major part of the metagame without giving out a hard number imo!

Otherwise, QC Approved 2/1!

Series 9 has seen Garchomp become a major part of the metagame and this dominant dragon Garchomp returns to dominance in the Series 9 metagame of BSS, this time (sorry to rephrase, it just flows better) wearing a unique item—(hyphen into em dash)Assault Vest! Garchomp is a top-tier Dynamaxer Dynamax user with its ability to 1v1 take on the two most-used (hyphen) Pokemon (no accented e) and Dynamax targets one-on-one(hyphen into em dash)Zapdos and Cinderace. With the Assault Vest and its excellent natural bulk, Garchomp can tank the moves from Dynamax Dynamaxed Zapdos and Cinderace and hit back hard with its own max moves Max Moves. As for the final moveslot, (RC) Scale Shot into Max Knuckle have has nice synergy by effectively giving Garchomp a Dragon Dance boost, while Fire Fang is an excellent option nicer to nail Pokemon (no accented e) that can tank an Earthquake such as Ferrothorn and Kartana. Despite Garchomp's many positives, it will Garchomp still struggle struggles to deal with fairies Fairy-types like Mimikyu and Tapu Fini as well as bulky Pokemon (no accented e) with access to recovery. Partners like Toxapex and Ferrothorn cover the fairy Fairy-type weakness, while hard hitters like Urshifu-RS Urshifu-R and Cinderace can punch through Porygon2 and Hippowdon for Garchomp to clean up in the end (space) game.
