Team of the Week is a project the social media team has been doing for some couple of months now where we showcase a different team from a competent builder for the purpose of introducing our audience to a variety of formats in an efficient manner. Unfortunately, the project has been a one man show since its inception and it's impossible to move forward like that anymore. We'd like to change the process of Team of the Week by accepting community submissions in this thread as opposed to scouting players for teams.

What we're looking for:
  1. Competent teams that have found some sort of success in a competitive setting, whether it be a circuit tournament, high ladder, or official team tour. We do not want untested or joke teams. The purpose is to get new people involved in the format of the team that you're sharing, so it's counterproductive to share stuff of a low quality.
  2. A brief explanation (6-8 sentences) on how to play the team and what it's weak to. A lot of our fans are new to the scene, so it's more effective to tell them how to play it rather than how you built it. It's also especially important to detail what it's weak to so they know what to watch out for in battle.
Example:
This is a balanced team featuring the newly released Mega Diancie. The set that it is using is meant to take advantage of the Electric Terrain support provided by Tapu Koko, which lets Nature Power become Thunderbolt and allows both of them to function as balance breakers given the current state of the metagame. On top of these two, the team has a solid defensive backbone with Toxapex and Ferrothorn filling out the next two slots, letting the team get up hazards, stop opposing momentum, and handle many threatening Pokemon in the metagame. Finally, the team is closed out with Scarf Landorus-Therian, a truly timeless Pokemon that generates momentum, revenge kills, and even has a significant defensive presence, and Stealth Rock stallbreaker Heatran, giving the team an additional weapon against opposing Stall teams, letting the team set-up Stealth Rocks reliably, and giving another offensive and defensive presence necessary for counterplay to various Pokemon in the metagame.

Process:

At the end of each month, a member of the social media team will post in this thread on what the schedule will look like for the proceeding month. We've found it's usually better to determine the schedule on a month to month basis (as opposed to a rotating schedule) so we can adapt to extenuating circumstances. After the staff member posts, we will accept submissions in this thread, on discord, or elsewhere for the 4 formats for the month and our QC will evaluate what teams will be shared. Depending on the format, your team can be archived for future weeks as well, so don't be discouraged if it doesn't get chosen.

Ok for next week and the month after, submissions are now open. The formats we will be looking for in chronological order are DOU, OU, RU, NU, and Monotype.

I'm also rounding up qc members tonight so if you're a competent player in any of the sections listed TBA then feel free to reach out

Yea, I agree with starry. Old gens would be great---it could bring more players to old gen scenes and could serve as a platform for showcasing influential teams from older OUs.

I'm sure getting QC for old gens wouldn't be difficult as well. Old gen guys are usually pretty passionate about their stuff.

I'm not opposed to adding more formats in the future, but what has become evident is how long it takes to get around to some of our main formats with the amount we have rn. If we can gather enough support via this thread to start doing more than one team per week, I'd be all for it, but it's difficult to do so rn.

SM DOU - Team by Miltankmilk

This is a balanced offense team by miltankmilk featuring Mega Metagross. With offensive pressure from its versatile coverage options in Stomping Tantrum and Ice Punch, Metagross enables the rest of the team by threatening out Pokemon and earning free turns for its multiple setup Pokemon. The team has a solid defensive backbone with Tapu Fini and Zapdos filling out the next two slots, providing Tailwind and Heal Pulse support for its bulky attackers to take over the game, in addition to handling many threatening Pokemon in the metagame. Substitute Volcanion is a highly threatening attacker with Tailwind support, and Substitute eases matchup against Trick Room teams, in addition to taking advantage of opponents using Protect to stall out Tailwind. Dragon Dance Zygarde is another way for the team to move first, allowing the team to clean up offensive teams without having to rely on Tailwind. Finally, the team is closed out with a Scrafty, a supportive disruptor that stops opposing momentum and offers counterplay against Trick Room teams with Fake Out, Intimidate, and Taunt. Fake Out support in particular allows Scrafty to earn free turns for its multiple setup sweepers.

I heard u guys need DOU teams, hope we're not too late!

Monotype Balance Flying
Aerodactyl-Mega @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Pursuit
- Stealth Rock

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 36 SpD / 220 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Discharge
- Toxic
- Roost
- Substitute

Mantine @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 160 SpD / 96 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Roost
- Defog
- Haze

Landorus @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Earth Power
- Sludge Wave
- Focus Blast
- Knock Off

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 224 HP / 252 Def / 32 SpD
Impish Nature
- Iron Head
- Roost
- Defog
- Whirlwind

Celesteela @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 248 HP / 104 Def / 156 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Heavy Slam
- Flamethrower

This team uses a bulky double Defog defensive core to cover many of Flying's weaknesses. Two Defog users makes it difficult to keep Stealth Rock up against this team, and Skarmory and Mantine are only weak to Electric, which is typically easily handled by Zapdos, so it's a very safe team that lets you almost always switch into a wall when faced with a threat. As the other walls are typically only physically or specially defensive, Celesteela is used as a mixed wall so that Pokemon like Mega Diancie aren't able to break down your dedicated walls. These walls support the attackers of the team in Landorus, one of the most powerful special attackers, and Mega Aerodactyl, a utility Pursuit trapper. Landorus is especially useful for this team, as it takes out most Electric-types and comes with an immunity to Electric as well while also bringing Knock Off support to cripple Pokemon like Chansey. Landorus and the slow walls are often outsped by Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Victini and Tapu Koko, though, and that's where Mega Aerodactyl comes in, easily able to Pursuit trap or revenge kill most of them.

OK, so with the NU team posted and Eien's Flying team, that'll be the end of February's teams. The formats for March (aside from OU of course) are Ubers, LC, and PU. Tagging the QC for each of these formats in case they want to post a team or if they want to advertise to anyone who would want to Dream tko Megazard

Thanks in advance and thanks for the great February!

SM Ubers - Team by KyogreF4N
Following consistent tournament and ladder success with the team, Ubers player KyogreF4N has decided to share his most recent creation, paying homage to the traditional ORAS Ubers Hyper Offense build. The concept behind the team is quite simple, setting up hazards with the ever-reliable Deoxys-Speed and pressuring your opponent with a plethora of offensive threats. For a more in-depth explanation as to how the team works, please consult the following resource

This is an offense team featuring Kingler, a Pokemon which has gotten significantly better since gaining access to Liquidation through Ultra Sun and Moon move tutors. It's strong as both an Agility sweeper and a wallbreaker which requires no boosts to break through most of the metagame. Mesprit provides pivoting, Stealth Rock, and Healing Wish support, all of which massively benefit Kingler. As a secondary wallbreaker, Pyroar helps to pressure bulky Water-types and provides some Speed control. Choice Scarf Togedemaru also helps with Speed control, checking Electric-types and making sure dangerous sweepers such as Jynx and Lilligant can be revenge killed. Assault Vest Hitmonchan provides excellent role compression in removing entry hazards while being a check to strong special attackers like Magmortar. While Hitmonchan lacks recovery, the team's offensive nature means it won't need to switch into strong wallbreakers frequently. Finally, Spiritomb helps keep common Psychic- and Fighting-types like Mesprit and Primeape in check while Rocky Helmet punishes many U-Turn users which might otherwise freely pivot on the team.

No, we just banned the mon that was on all the teams I would've preferred to showcase.
e: not to say it's a bad team by any means, but it falls short in the tour replays department

This is a standard offensive team that features some unique options to outplay the opposing team. The goal of the team is to wear down the opposing team with Onix's and Ferroseed's hazards and then use the remaining four Pokemon to sweep. Onix is a reliable Stealth Rock setter who pressures the likes of Torchic with Roar, forcing it lose it's boosts. It also works in tandem with Ferroseed's ability to set Spikes. Ferroseed also runs Protect to catch Mienfoo's that spam High Jump Kick. Abra is a powerhouse of coverage who also acts as a safety net when at full health because of it's Focus Sash. Staryu also performs a similar job, forgoing Rapid Spin in favor of the additional coverage options. The role of hazard clearer is instead deemed to Vullaby, who attempts to abuse it's naturally tanky base stats by abusing Berry Juice. Mienfoo, along with Vullaby, also provide momentum in their ability to U-Turn, which gives the other Pokemon on the team more opportunities to fire off powerful attacks.

ok so this month went really smooth. I appreciate it guys n_n

Since we're super ahead of schedule because of everyone doing such an awesome job (and because p^2 was getting exhausted by every ou comment being about lando-t usage) I figured it would be cool to plan an old gens week for April instead of our regular SM OU team. We're looking for gens 1-6 teams with the same descriptions as detailed in the op to be featured and draw interest to these formats. I'll be getting in contact with some people that I trust for teams, but feel free to post teams anyways even if I don't contact you.

Thanks in advance guys!

So this project have been on a mini hiatus but still the planning is going and I have been asked to take over this, and I will gladly do as long as I can. Submissions for teams are open once more. The formats I will be looking for are USM OU, USM Ubers, USM LC, and USM UU.

These metagames seem to be the most stable atm (NU going through a suspect, RU and PU just finished a suspect test and they need time to settle) so yeah. Looking for some stable metas to get this project on their tracks once more. Hoping for a good month!

LC Leader
Rufflet Double Trapper Offense by rssp1

http://pokepast.es/c431c0722d89bee4

I originally made this LC team during the Sun/Vulpix suspect back in March of last year. Even though the meta has changed a lot since then, with some changes this team has still been extremely consistent and is able to get me wins - even against very good opponents. The team is centered around supporting Rufflet so that it can ideally get a Bulk Up Sweep while also having an alternate win conditions like Elekid and Diglett. Rufflet is one of my favorite Pokémon, and in SM it finally gained access to Brave Bird in LC, making it so that it currently has almost no checks (only two Pokémon can consistently stop Rufflet–Honedge and Onix–and Honedge is barely ever used). I also aimed to take advantage of players who suspected Choice Scarf Rufflet, the far more common set. Mienfoo is a slower variant that can remove items, take multiple hits, and then U-turn out into Diglett to trap the weakened opposing Pokemon. Diglett and Stunky act as synergistic trappers with Rufflet, removing Pokemon that trouble it like Chinchou, Pawniard, Magnemite, Abra, and Gastly. Choice Scarf Elekid outspeeds every single Pokemon in the tier and acts as the revenge-killer of the team. Foongus acts as a tank or fallback Pokemon to take strong hits.

SM Ubers team by terracotta

Ultra Necrozma is what the team is built around, a threatening sweeper that can lure many standard Dusk Mane checks and nukes walls with ease. Mega Scizor easily comes in on most of Ultra Necrozma's checks such as Scarf Xerneas and Arceus-Dark and regains momentum through U-turn, while performing Steel-type duties as Ultra Necrozma loses Dusk Mane's typing. Mega Scizor is also a strong offensive threat in its own right once Primal Groudon and Ho-Oh are gone thanks to Ultra Necrozma. Specs Yveltal has good offensive synergy with Ultra Necrozma, dealing with defensive Psychics and fast Ghosts, and can keep up momentum with U-turn as well, while appreciating Mega Scizor's support against Fairies. Defensive Primal Groudon blanket checks a ton of threats, including Primal Kyogre and Steel-types and provides Stealth Rock, with its typing, bulk and power, while Support Arceus-Water takes care of many others such as Mixed Primal Groudon, Dusk Mane, Mega Salamence and Ho-Oh with its speed, bulk, typing, longevity and coverage. Finally Giratina-Origin provides Defog, checks physical Ground-type attackers, and checks Dusk Mane by outspeeding it and burning it.

Much thanks to Terracotta and dream for supplying this. Just OU and UU to go!

we got OU - p^2

SM UU team by Sage

https://pokepast.es/e67d378572094ffc
This is a fun team little team I built around the core of Offensive Trick Room Stakataka and Toxic Orb Breloom. This offensive core heavily pressures Offense and Stall respectively between the two mons, and offers solid synergy between them. Stakataka switches into Flying and Psychic moves aimed at Breloom, who can set up on Bulky Waters and Grounds that annoy Staka. I've opted for a Fight-Z set here to cripple common Steel types that can try to check Staka like Aggron and Cobalion, letting you break through them with less chip overall. Toxic Orb Breloom is a great status absorber and breaker, consistently sporing and recovering health to keep pressuring your opponent long term. For my rocker I am using a Swampert, bringing useful Fire / Electric resistance. Mostly a standard set with Counter as the filler of choice, letting you surprise threats like CB scizor that superpower, or letting you get big damage on the switchin if they U -turn. Scarf Rotom-H brings some much needed speed control, and another Bullet punch resistance. It is also the hazard removal for the team, and one of the pivots that lets me bring in Staka / Loom more easily. Altaria is the mega of choice, as it serves as really nice offensive glue with its great coverage, and I needed a defensive answer for Hydreigon. Finally, Scizor gives me another form of priority, a trapper, and a second pivot all in one slot.

Much thanks to Sage for supplying this team. Since according to the post edit we have the OU one already that means we are done for the month! Amazing job everybody. Will update the OP to reflect this. OP will be updated once more when teams are required.

Cheers!

Ok, time to continue this project. Sorry for taking so long to update but you know, life... LIFE.

Anyways. Submissions for teams are open once more! Looking for the following formats: SM RU, SM NU, SM PU, and SM Doubles

Most of the metagames listed already went through suspects and have found an stable point. Maybe not Doubles since Mega Gengar was suspected rather recently but the different dynamics of it, and they could use some spotlight after some time, so yeah. Anyone willing to contribute is welcome!

Tagging the respective QCs to see if they know someone willing to share their teams for the project.

Jhon miltankmilk Disjunction Megazard And I will look for an RU one on my own. Pretty sure I can find someone willing to share something.

Cheers!
