Steel
========

Excadrill is an effective revenge killer and late-game cleaner for Steel teams, making it extremely valuable in the Electric, Poison, Psychic, and Fire matchups. Its ability, Mold Breaker, is extremely useful, as it allows Excadrill to spam Earthquake without being bothered by Levitate users like Rotom-W and Galarian Weezing. However, Excadrill is slower than most Choice Scarf users and gets forced out by those that carry super effective coverage such as Blacephalon, Tapu Lele, and Galarian Darmanitan. Furthermore, Excadrill struggles to deal with physical walls such as Slowbro and Galarian Corsola, which means that it needs support from teammates like Aegislash and Bisharp to break down certain defensive cores.

[SET COMMENTS]
Earthquake deals with Fire- and Steel-types, allowing Excadrill to remove threats such as Victini and Heatran. Rock Slide allows Excadrill to threaten Flying-types such as Zapdos and Crobat that switch into Earthquake. Rapid Spin allows Excadrill to remove only the opponent's entry hazards, which synergizes with Steel's tendency to stack entry hazards. Iron Head deals with Fairy- and Ice-types such as Tapu Bulu and Kyurem. A Choice Scarf allows Excadrill to outspeed a majority of the metagame and remove threats like Zeraora, Dragapult, and Victini.

Ferrothorn is a good teammate, as it covers Excadrill's weaknesses to Ground and Water by checking Hippowdon and Kingdra and it sets up entry hazards to chip foes. Aegislash provides a Fighting immunity and can punish physically defensive walls such as Slowbro and Mantine with Toxic. Heatran offers a Fire immunity and can trap and remove bulky walls such as Mew and Porygon2 that Excadrill struggles with. Celesteela provides a Ground immunity and threatens Grass- and Steel-types such as Amoonguss and Ferrothorn. Alternatively, Corviknight or Skarmory could be considered as the Ground-immune partner, as they both threaten Fighting-types such as Galarian Zapdos and Kommo-o. Melmetal heavily damages bulky walls such as Amoonguss and Toxapex, which allows Excadrill to clean Psychic and Poison teams late-game. Jirachi threatens physical walls such as Slowbro, Amoonguss, and Celesteela for Excadrill and can wear down Poison and Water teams with its Choice Specs set. Bisharp deals with faster, frailer Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Victini and Blacephalon with Sucker Punch and can break down walls such as Slowbro and Porygon2 with its Swords Dance set.

[SET COMMENTS]
With Swords Dance, Excadrill becomes an effective late-game sweeper for Steel teams, allowing it to break through walls such as Toxapex, Slowbro, and Zapdos, which improves the matchup of Steel teams against Poison, Psychic, and Electric teams. Earthquake deals with Poison- and Steel-types, allowing Excadrill to OHKO bulky Pokemon such as Toxapex and Melmetal after a Swords Dance. Rock Slide allows Excadrill to OHKO threats such as Thundurus-T, Zapdos, and Crobat after a Swords Dance. Iron Head may be considered instead, as it allows Excadrill to clean late-game in the Fairy and Dragon matchup and hit common switch-ins such as Landorus-T harder. Rock Blast can be considered to break the Substitutes of Kyurem and Galarian Moltres, but it is less consistent than Rock Slide. Rapid Spin allows Excadrill to boost its Speed, pick off weakened Pokemon, and take advantage of forced switches, allowing it to outspeed would-be answers such as Victini, Zeraora, and Gengar. Leftovers prolongs Excadrill's longevity, allowing it to set up and threaten opposing teams multiple times in a match.

Ferrothorn checks threats such as Tapu Fini and Hippowdon for Excadrill and sets up entry hazards to chip the opposing team. Specially defensive Aegislash can tank weak special attacks from physically defensive walls such as Slowbro and Porygon2 and punish them with Toxic while also providing a Fighting immunity. Heatran provides a switch-in to Fire-type attacks and can utilize a Choice Scarf set to make up for Excadrill's reduced Speed, allowing it to outspeed and KO threats such as Choice Scarf Tapu Bulu and Victini. Celesteela, Corviknight, and Skarmory provide a Ground immunity and utility in the form of Leech Seed, pivoting, and entry hazards, respectively. Choice Scarf Magnezone can trap and KO opposing Steel-types such as Celesteela, Corviknight, and Skarmory and Water-types such as Urshifu-R and Keldeo, all of which Excadrill struggles with.

Steel
--------
Toxic may be used over Iron Head on the Choice Scarf set to punish physical walls such as Slowbro and put setup sweepers such as Hatterene and Mew in a timer. An Occa Berry or Chople Berry may be used over Leftovers on the Swords Dance set to survive a Fire- or Fighting-type move, allowing Excadrill to lure in and KO Pokemon like Zapdos, Blacephalon, Zeraora, and Thundurus-T, but the lack of Leftovers recovery hurts Excadrill's longevity in other matchups. Shed Shell may also be used over Leftovers to prevent Excadrill from getting trapped by Magnet Rise Air Balloon Magnezone, but it is useless in other matchups. Using these items over Leftovers also allows Excadrill to bluff a Choice Scarf set, which can be favorable in Psychic and Electric matchups, as its Choice Scarf set threatens to outspeed and KO Victini and Zeraora.

Checks and Counters
===================

Steel
--------
**Physically Defensive Walls**: Physically defensive Pokemon such as Slowbro, Celesteela, and Hippowdon take minimal damage from Excadrill's attacks and threaten it with their own super effective attacks.

**Choice Scarf Users**: Faster Choice Scarf users such as Victini, Zarude, and Landorus-T outspeed Excadrill and can OHKO it.

**Magnezone**: Excadrill has to be wary of getting trapped and KOed by Magnezone in Electric matchups as Excadrill may be forced to lock into Rock Slide to KO Zapdos. Magnezone can even hold an Air Balloon to render Excadrill's Earthquake ineffective. However, Magnezone is less threatening if Excadrill is using a Swords Dance set.

**Status**: Burn from Galarian Corsola and Scald users like Slowbro severely reduces Excadrill's offensive potential.

Excadrill is an effective revenge killer and late-game cleaner for Steel teams, making it extremely valuable in Electric, Dragon Poison, Psychic, and Fire matchups.(i don't think i've ever seen an excadrill sweep dragon, sd is great vs poison though) It also provides Steel teams with an Electric immunity and a strong wincon against Electric teams, after Zapdos has been dealt with. (mentioned in first sentence) Its ability, Mold Breaker, is extremely useful as it allows Excadrill to spam Earthquake without being bothered by abilities like Levitate from the likes of Rotom-Wash and Galarian Weezing. However, Excadrill is slower than most Choice Scarf users, and will get forced out by Blacephalon, Tapu Lele, and Galarian Darmanitan, which all commonly hold Choice Scarf. Furthermore, Excadrill struggles to deal with physical walls such as Slowbro and Galarian Corsola, which means that it needs support from teammates like Jirachi Aegislash (seems like a perfect example here) and Bisharp to break down opposing defensive cores.

Earthquake deals with Fire- and Steel-types, allowing Excadrill to remove threats such as Victini and Heatran. Iron Head deals with Fairy- and Ice-types such as Tapu Bulu and Kyurem. Rock Slide completes Excadrill's EdgeQuake coverage, allowing it to threaten Flying-types such as Zapdos and Crobat that aim to take on Excadrill's attacks in the Electric and Poison matchup. Rock Blast can be considered to break Substitutes of Kyurem and Galarian Moltres, but is less powerful and less consistent than Rock Slide. Rapid Spin allows Excadrill to remove entry hazards without removing entry hazards on the opposing team, which synergizes with Steel's tendency to stack hazards. A Choice Scarf allows Excadrill to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame, allowing Excadrill to outspeed and remove threats such as Zeraora, Dragapult, and Victini. Mold Breaker allows Excadrill to negate abilities such as Levitate, allowing it to threaten Galarian Weezing, Hydreigon, and Rotom-W. (mentioned in overview)

Ferrothorn is a good team mate as it covers for Excadrill's Ground and Water weaknesses by checking threats such as Hippowdon and Kingdra and sets entry hazards to chip the opposing team. Aegislash covers for Excadrill's Fighting weakness and can punish physically defensive walls such as Slowbro and Mantine with Toxic. Heatran covers for Excadrill's Fire weakness and can trap and remove bulky walls such as Toxapex and Porygon2 that Excadrill struggles with. Celesteela provides a Ground immunity, threatens Grass- and Steel-types such as Amoonguss and Ferrothorn for Excadrill, and can work alongside it to pressure Steel-, Fairy-, and Dragon-type teams. Alternatively, Corviknight and Skarmory can be considered as the Ground immune partners as it they can threaten Fighting-types such as Galarian Zapdos and Kommo-o, and can shut down and take advantage of walls like Hippowdon with a Bulk Up set. (if ur gonna mention corv for checking fightings you might as well mention skarm, there's no reason not to) Jirachi threatens Fighting-types such as Urshifu-R and physical walls such as Slowbro, and pressures Poison, Ground, and Water teams with a Choice Specs set. Bisharp deals with faster, but frailer Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Victini and Blacephalon with Sucker Punch and can break down bulkier teams with a Swords Dance set.

add melmetal, it's a lot more common than some of these mons and is good at wearing down physical walls

Earthquake deals with Poison- and Steel-types, allowing Excadrill to remove bulky Pokemon such as Toxapex and Melmetal after a Swords Dance. A Jolly nature allows Excadrill to outspeed and remove threats like Heatran and Nidoking without a Rapid Spin boost. Mold Breaker allows Excadrill to negate abilities such as Levitate, allowing it to threaten Galarian Weezing, Hydreigon, and Rotom-W.

Ferrothorn is a good team mate as it covers for Excadrill's Ground and Water weaknesses by checking threats such as Hippowdon and Kingdra and sets entry hazards to chip the opposing team. Bisharp deals with faster, but frailer Pokemon such as Victini and Blacephalon with Sucker Punch and can break down bulkier teams alongside Excadrill with a Swords Dance set. (these really do not need two mentions)

add magnezone as another scarfer option at the end, it also traps steel flyings
klefki is also worth mentioning since this would be a good ho set
(also don't copy paste sentences, you can still say the same thing and change the wording and structure slightly)

Excadrill can run Chople Berry instead of Leftovers in Swords Dance sets, as it can bait in and remove Zeraora and Thundurus-T, which outspeed and can usually take out Excadrill with a Fighting-type move. Similarly, Occa Berry may be used to survive a Fire-type move, allowing Excadrill to lure and remove Cinderace, Hydreigon, Zapdos, and Blacephalon, but the lack of Leftovers recovery hurts Excadrill's longevity in other matchups. Shed Shell may also be used over leftovers to escape unfavorable matchups with Magnet Rise Air Balloon Magnezone, but is useless in other matchups. Using these items over Leftovers also allows Excadrill to bluff a Choice Scarf set, which could be favorable in Psychic and Electric matchups. (or just any matchup, idk why these ones specifically)

toxic on scarf excadrill to punish slowbro / pelipper / hatterene / etc. (it's mold breaker toxic so worth mentioning ig)
i would order it like toxic -> occa -> shed shell -> chople

Heatran can utilize a Choice Scarf set to outspeed and remove threats such as Choice Scarf Tapu Bulu and Victini that Excadrill cannot check with this set, while also providing a switchin for Fire-type attacks. (checking fire types is the main thing, being able to provide speed control is more of a side thing, and i'd mention that it makes up for excadrill's lack of scarf) Celesteela provides a Ground immunity and threatens Grass- and Steel-types such as Amoonguss and Ferrothorn that can shrug off Excadrill's attacks. Alternatively, Corviknight and Skarmory can threaten Fighting-types such as Galarian Zapdos and Kommo-o, while also providing a Ground-type immunity. (can you just merge these two sentences, you already mentioned the grass / steel thing and you can just say they provide ground immunity and utility) Choice Scarf Magnezone can remove Steel-types such as Celesteela, Corviknight, and Skarmory and Water-types such as Urshifu-R and Keldeo which Excadrill struggles with. Klefki can set Dual Screens and Entry Hazards that Excadrill appreciates in Hyper Offensive Steel teams. Skarmory can use a Custap berry set to deny Entry Hazards and set Stealth Rock and Spikes for Hyper Offensive Steel teams. Bisharp is another setup sweeper used in these types of teams that can pick off faster but frailer Pokemon and can clean late-game once Excadrill has heavily dented the opposing team's walls. (i don't get the bisharp hype at all. it got used 1/34 games in mpl, it's not common enough to mention twice. i don't really think it's worth mentioning once really)

- scarf rock blast is weird, remove it
- A Choice Scarf allows Excadrill to outspeed a majority of the the entire unboosted metagame, allowing Excadrill to outspeed and remove threats such as Zeraora, Dragapult, and Victini.
- please find a different phrase then covers excadrills weakness, it sounds redundant
- Melmetal heavily damages bulky walls such as Slowbro Amoonguss and Toxapex, which allows Excadrill to clean Psychic and Poison teams late game.

Jirachi threatens Fighting-types such as Urshifu-R and physical walls such as Slowbro, and pressures Poison, Ground, and Water teams with a Choice Specs set.
- this is weird, just name like a few good pokemon jirachi beats for excadrill like celesteela, amoonguss, and hydreigon etc, you can say it helps wear down mus such as water and poison as well

Bisharp deals with faster, but frailer Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Victini and Blacephalon with Sucker Punch and can break down bulkier teams with a Swords Dance set.

Rapid Spin allows Excadrill to remove only the opponent's entry hazards without removing entry hazards on the opposing team, which synergizes with Steel's tendency to stack entry hazards. Iron Head deals with Fairy- and Ice-types such as Tapu Bulu and Kyurem. With Swords Dance, Excadrill becomes an effective late-game (space->hyphen) cleaner sweeper for Steel teams, allowing it to break through walls such as Toxapex, Slowbro, and Zapdos, which improves the matchup of Steel teams against Poison, Psychic, and Electric teams. Earthquake deals with Poison- and Steel-types, allowing Excadrill to remove OHKO bulky Pokemon such as Toxapex and Melmetal after a Swords Dance. Rock Slide allows Excadrill to OHKO threats such as Thundurus-T, Zapdos, and Crobat after a Swords Dance. Iron Head may be considered instead, (add comma) as it allows Excadrill to act as a late-game cleaner clean late-game in the Fairy and Dragon matchups, (remove comma) while also hitting and hit common switch-ins (add hyphen) such as Landorus-T harder. Rock Blast can be considered to break the Substitutes of Kyurem and Galarian Moltres, but it is less powerful and (on average, it's actually the same power level. it is just less consistent) less consistent than Rock Slide. Rapid Spin allows Excadrill to boost its Speed, pick off weakened Pokenon Pokemon, and take advantage of forced switches, allowing Excadrill to outspeed would-be answers such as Victini, Zeraora, and Gengar (I don't think Gengar is the best example considering it blocks Rapid Spin, but if that isn't the point here, then it can stay). Leftovers prolongs Excadrill's longevity, allowing it to set (add space)up and threaten opposing teams multiple times in a match.

Ferrothorn checks threats such as Tapu Fini and Hippowdon for Excadrill and sets up entry hazards to chip the opposing team. Specially defensive Aegislash can take tank weak special attacks from physically defensive walls such as Slowbro and Porygon2 and can punish these them with Toxic (remove comma) while also providing a Fighting immunity. Heatran provides a switch-in (add hyphen) for to Fire-type attacks and can utilize a Choice Scarf set to make up for Excadrill's reduced Speed, allowing it to outspeed and remove KO threats such as Choice Scarf Tapu Bulu and Victini. Celesteela, Corviknight, (add comma) or and Skarmory provides a Ground immunity and provides utility in the form of Leech Seed, pivoting, or and entry hazards, (add comma) respectively. **Physically Defensive Walls**: Physically defensive Pokemon such as Slowbro, Celesteela, and Hippowdon take minimal damage from Excadrill's attacks and threaten to chip Excadrill down it with their own super effective attacks (I wouldn't really call Slowbro's Scald, Celesteela's Flamethrower, or Hippowdon's quake "chip".).

**Choice Scarf Users**: Faster Choice Scarf users such as Victini, Zarude, and Landorus-T outspeed Excadrill and can OHKO it with a super effective move.

**Magnezone**: Excadrill has to be wary of getting trapped and removed KOed by Magnezone in Electric matchups, (add comma) as Excadrill may be forced to be locked lock into Rock Slide to remove KO Zapdos, or Magnezone can even hold an Air Balloon to render Excadrill's Earthquake ineffective. However, Magnezone becomes is less threatening if using a Swords Dance set.

**Status**: Burn from Galarian Corsola and from Scald users like (insert example of Scald user that checks Exca) severely reduces Excadrill's offensive potential, as it will not deal any meaningful damage afterwards (no need to explain what burn does. average reader should know that burn halves attack).
