EDIT:Can't find the time to do it. I might do it randomly when I have time.
oh okayNah, I've used him. Lucario is the first heavy-hitter against Drifblim, did over 100 damage with its Metal Claw, unboosted with no crit. Drifblim simply cannot take hits, I retired him just after the 6th gym (Byron).
It's 22 in DP, but 15 in Platinum.oh okay
sorry then -.-
Im thinking of some CM sets with some of its movepool.... As far as i know, Drifblim can be acquired at high level during early game
If it's just what wild Pokémon are accessible before a certain point, I could probably compile it within a day or two.Ok :( Thanks for the fast answer
Stunky and Zubat are EXTREMELY frequent, and the former is actually a legit threat for an efficient run. While Croagunk dies to any Flying type not named Drifloon, and Glameow's basically there to say "hi~I'mma annoy you now", Stunky often pack nasty moves like Night Slash, Poison Gas, and Screech. It's 22 in DP, but 15 in Platinum.
DP Drifloon could help immediately by being a good asset against Gardenia, but the fact that you have to train it in Platinum puts me off... and consider that Gardenia is already very easy for a gym leader, Drifloon seems pretty superfluous (i mean, starly is everywhere and you do go through a wurmple-infested forest prior to that, even buneary performs better because lol102bpfrustration)
Drifloon sucks imo and he gets a relatively easy gym that you have tons of other options for: it's faster to just smash through Eterna Gym with Staravia instead of dicking around with Drifloon's Gust. Platinum gets him an extra gym before his stipulated expiry date called Maylene's Lucario, which he happens to be pretty eh in because he has Astonish against... Shadow Claw.
Drifloon for bottom. I guess he can be... cute? Despite 150 HP, his 44 defense makes it very difficult to take hits, and his TM coverage is limited to Thunderbolt and Silver Wind, while in terms of levelup moves he gets... Payback. He might be able to pull off a niche with passing stockpiles, but you might as well just smash the enemy with something else (hint: staraptor)
also, stunky, zubat, croagunk and glameow are some of the most common enemies in the game, and drifblim has issues against most of them (he doesn't die to only Croagunk).
Are you high? Empoleon shits ALL over Bertha because it outspeeds EVERY one of her Pokemon. If you are anywhere near close in level it totally stomps her. Quagsire and Whiscash don't have water nullifying abilities and run Dig or... Well Fissure but that's not even SE. Platinum is a little different, but I'd still be more than willing to use it against 4 of her team.I'm very skeptical about Empoleon. You're using a water type in-game to deal with Fire and Ground types, and looking at his typing...he's probably the worst Water type for that. Unlike others, who are resistant to Fire and neutral to Ground, Empoleon is neutral to Fire and weak to Ground. This is pretty big, as Bertha shits all over Empoleon in all three games thanks to this. It's especially big in Platinum, where BOTH Bertha AND Flint shit all over Empoleon. Not to mention that Fire types found Sinnoh in Platinum, and you're not having to deal with silly Embers after Galactic goes away. Now you're dealing with Flamethrowers and Flare Blitzes. Empoleon isn't an effective Water type because of this.
Speaking of starters, Torterra's pretty bitchin'. Grass/Ground is an amazing typing for in-game, giving it two of the best STAB typings for in-game (Grass hits Waters, rocks, and ground types, while Ground hits Fire, Electric, Rock, and Steel). It also gets natural Crunch, and natural Curse, and is bulky enough to go toe to toe with Cynthia's Garchomp (it's actually a very safe option in DP, probably the safest option barring Levitate Bronzong).
>implying Lumineon is terribleEmpoleon is bad?
What.
He's perfectly capable of tanking fire attacks due to a decent special defense, Surf is OP, you can SD Aqua Jet/Waterfall, etc.
There're probably other water-types in Sinnoh that are worse than Empoleon (Seaking, Golduck, Lumineon) and Empoleon's Steel-typing is decent in taking some hits. He's also one of the best guys to use in Galactic battles (for this matter i have never encountered dry skin croagunk), he's definitely not terrible. Most grounds are either slower than Empoleon (Golem), complete jokes (Wormadam), or just plain too overpowered (Garchomp). If you do need a move to kill Whiscash, Grass Knot.
In addition, Piplup and it's evolutions are in a fairly strong state of competition throughout the game from other Water-types. While Piplup itself faces no true competition, besides the coverage of Psyduck, Prinplup and Empoleon have to face many threats. Prinplup must contend with access to Bibarel, Gyarados, Floatzel, and Gastrodon while evolving almost 10 levels later than some, while Empoleon faces competition from Gyarados, Gastrodon, Palkia in Pearl, and even Quagsire. This is due to the resistances the others have, in addition to Gastrodon and Quagsire (and I guess Whiscash) evolving earlier and being able to help with Volker and Bertha. While Steel is handy as a resistance, it's better suited to other Pokémon like Bronzong and Steelix, who are both fairly usable in-game. Probopass also comes right before the second gym in Platinum, which hurts too (seeing as you can evolve it in Mt. Coronet).>implying Lumineon is terrible
I can't tell if you're trolling or just haven't used it. I never said Empoleon was bad, I was saying that its Steel typing hinders it when fighting those Pokemon. In an efficient run-through, you'll be around Level 48-53, which is NOT Bertha's Level.
I agree, it's useful in Galactic Battles, but the problem is, Torterra and Infernape are just plain better than it. Torterra does just as well in Galactic Battles, actually can take on Garchomp and win on its own, and destroys six out of the eight gyms. Infernape in DP is your only Fire type outside of Rapidash, has the amazing Fire/Fighting duel typing, and stomps on most trainers because of this. Besides, if you want a fast Water type, get a Floatzel. Empoleon isn't Top material if we're comparing it to Torterra and Infernape. If you're so adamant that Empoleon is super godly, I will settle with it being in High tier.
