  • Swampert's good bulk and solid typing allows it to act as a good defensive piece for many teams, as it is able to consistently stay on the field and spread damage. Swampert's defensive capabilities make it one of the most consistent checks to Tyranitar, shrugging of its attacks and threatening super effective damage back. Hydro Pump exploits the tier's lack of water resist by hitting most of the tier for neutral or super effective damage and Earth Power is an alternative STAB option that trades power and splashability for consistency. Earth Power OHKO's Heatran and 2HKO's 252 HP Metagross. Muddy Water is another option for a Water-type attack the trades the power of Hydro Pump for spread damagfe and the ability to reduce opponent accuracy. Ice Beam hits foes that resist or are immune to Swampert's STAB attacks such as Latios. Stealth Rock is particularly useful on lead Swampert to rack up chip damage. Substitute can be used to punish passive play and make use of Swampert's great typing.
  • Leftovers give Swampert continuous passive healing and synergize well with Swampert's immunity to Sandstorm damage. Leftovers should always be used on Substitute sets, but there is more flexibility between Sitrus Berry and Leftovers on other sets. Sitrus Berry is better on more offensive teams that expect Swampert to spend less turns on the field, as the burst healing can help it live double-ups easier.
  • Other options such as Choice Specs can be used to turn Swampert into a breaker and take previously unreachable KO's such as 252 HP Metagross with Earth Power. Icy Wind is an option that allows Swampert to better support its teammates and force switches by lowering opponents' speed.
  • The given EV Spread lets Swampert OHKO 252 HP 252 SpD Solid Rock Rhyperior and 2HKO 0 HP Tyranitar in Sand while living a Choice Specs Latios Draco Meteor.
  • Swampert is best used by leveraging its bulk, immunity to Thunder Wave, and good typing to deal consistent damage throughout the game. Swampert rarely takes super effective damage as there is little Grass-type coverage in the tier, but it has to remain wary or Latios, Latias, and Rotom-Mow who commonly run Grass Knot and Leaf Storm, respectively. It is best for Swampert to be on the board next to more offensive threats, as Swampert's own offensive output isn't very impressive when not hitting for super-effective damage.
  • Latios, Latias, and Rotom-A appreciate Swampert's ability to check Tyranitar and Steel-types such as Heatran and Metagross. In return, their high damage output makes up for Swampert's low offensive pressure. Tyranitar also appreciates Swampert's ability to check Steel-types while Swampert is better able to leverage its bulk and outlast opponents when sand is chipping them each turn. Tyranitar can also break bulkier foes such as Cresselia which can ignore Swampert. Opposing water types don't fear Swampert's attacks, so Electric-type teammates such as Rotom-A and Raikou make for good teammates. Additionally, Swampert appreciates Thunder Wave support to make up for its low speed.

  • Swampert's good bulk and unique typing not unique; quagsire is very popular on ladder, can replace w "solid" allows it to act as a good defensive piece for many teams, as it is able to consistently stay on the field and spread damage. emphasize it checks tar well somewhere, if not here then elsewhere again Hydro Pump hits most of the tier for neutral or super effective (no caps) damage and Earth Power is an alternative STAB option that trades power and splashability for consistency. Earth Power OHKO's Heatran and 2HKO's 252 HP Metagross. Ice Beam hits foes that resist or are immune to Swampert's STAB attacks such as Latios. Stealth Rock is particularly useful on lead Swampert to rack up chip damage. Substitute can be used to punish passive play and make use of Swampert's great typing.
talked about this on discord, however this doesn't mention muddy water which you slashed so its up to you how to implement it in this sentence:
Hydro Pump exploits the tier's lack of Water-resists by hitting most foes for neutral or super effective damage, and Earth Power is an alternative, more consistent option that OHKOes Heatran and 2HKOes 252 HP Metagross.
  • Leftovers give Swampert continuous passive healing and synergizes well with Swampert's immunity to Sandstorm damage. Leftovers should always be used on Substitute sets, but there is more flexibility between Sitrus Berry and Leftovers on other sets. Sitrus Berry is better on more offensive teams that expect Swampert to spend less turns on the field, as the burst healing can help it live double-ups easier.
  • Other options such as Earthquake can be used to allow Swampert to bypass redirection with spread damage and hit Tyranitar harder. With an attack-boosting nature, Swampert can 2HKO most Tyranitar with Earthquake. Icy Wind is an options that allows Swampert to better support its teammates and force switches. physical swampert is so dogshit you should not mention it at all imo. mention specs as primary other option, as it is still used and does decent damage
  • The given EV Spread lets Swampert OHKO 252 HP 252 SpD (haram ev spread) Solid Rock Rhyperior and 2HKO 0 HP Tyranitar in Sand while living a Choice Specs Latios Draco Meteor.
  • Swampert is best used by leveraging its bulk, immunity to Thunder Wave, and good typing to spread deal consistent damage throughout the game. As Grass-type coverage isn't common, in the tier it is common for Swampert to not worry about taking super-effective damage for an entire game, but it has to be wary of Pokemon such as Latios, Latias, and Rotom-A using Grass Knot or HP Grass as coverage. It is generally best for Swampert to be on the board field next to more offensive threats, as Swampert's pure own offensive output isn't very impressive when not hitting for super-effective (remove hyphen) damage.
the grass-type sentence is a very roundabout way of saying what you want to:
Swampert rarely takes super effective damage as there is little Grass-type coverage in the tier, but it has to remain wary or Latios, Latias, and Rotom-Mow who commonly run Grass Knot and Leaf Storm, respectively.
  • Latios, Latias, and Rotom-A appreciate Swampert's ability to check Tyranitar and Steel-types such as Heatran and Metagross. In return, their high damage output makes up for Swampert's low offensive pressure. Tyranitar also appreciates Swampert's ability to check Steel-types while Swampert is better able to leverage its bulk and outlast opponents when Sand sand is chipping them each turn. mentions its inability to hit water-types (gyara, empo) which is circumvented by electric-types and latios. mention it works well with breakers like tyranitar who breaks shit like cress. mention thunder wave support alleviating its own mediocre speed tier

Muddy Water is another option for a Water-type attack the trades the power of Hydro Pump for spread damagfe fix typo here and the ability to reduce opponent's possessive S accuracy. I would like you to reorder this section, go from Hydro Pump to Muddy Water since they're slashed, then talk about Earth Power, then Ice Beam. I think it flows better and reflects the set properly Ice Beam hits foes that resist or are immune to Swampert's STAB attacks such as Latios. Stealth Rock is particularly useful on lead Swampert to rack up chip damage. Substitute can be used to punish passive play and make use of Swampert's great typing.

hi bagel, could you give this an additional look over to see if its still currently meta relevant? i think it would worthwhile to mention its synergy with zapdos and the constant threat of hidden power grass on common special attackers who dont have ways to deal with swampert otherwise
