Hey!

Remember that little draft tournament called Fighter Fairy Face-Off Marowhacker talked about a while back? Well, we're pleased to announce that drafting has concluded, and our competitors are currently selecting their Z-crystal mons.

It's late where I live, and I'm a lazy ass, so no analysis or anything from me. However, I will link everyone the draft sheet, where you can view and discuss your favorite teams/picks. Who's the strongest-looking team? Which Pokemon look especially threatening in the CFM Draft format?

Here's the spreadsheet! Have fun!

sup friccwads,

Drafting is finally over for FFFv2! Phew, that went waaay more smoothly than last time.
Anyway, unlike last time I won't be writing you an unnecessarily long article, I'll just be leaving you with all of the final drafts for every team. Make sure to tune in in a couple of weeks for week 1's results, or hop on the discord/psim to watch replays early or even spectate the games as they go on.

here's a quick discussion:

Is Silvally unbalanced?
For those unaware, RKS System provides stat boosts depending on the held memory. Silvally has 91/100/85/100/85/109 stats in CFM. Do its current stats make Silvally too strong and unpredictable in OU when coupled with RKS System, and if so, how do we change Silvally to still be good in OU but not broken?

Bug: +1 Atk, +1 Spa, -2 Def
Dark: +1 Atk, +1 SpA, -2 SpD
Dragon: +1 Atk, +1 Spa, -1 Def, -1 SpD
Electric: +2 Spe, -1 Atk, -1 Def
Fairy: +2 SpD, -2 Atk
Fighting: +2 Atk, -2 SpD
Fire: +1 Atk, +1 SpA, -2 Def
Flying: +1 Atk OR +1 Spa, +1 Spe, -2 Def
Ghost: +1 Atk OR +1 SpA, +1 SpD, -2 Def
Grass: +1 Def, +1 SpA, +1 SpD, -3 Atk
Ground: +1 Atk, +1 Def, -1 SpA, -1 SpD
Ice: +2 Atk OR +2SpA, -1 Def, -1 SpD
Poison: +1 Def, +1 SpD, -1 SpA, -1 Spe
Psychic: +2 SpA, -2 Def
Rock: +1 Atk, +2 Def, -3 SpA
Steel: +3 Def, -3 Spe
Water: +1 SpA, +1 Def, -1 Atk, -1 Spe

I think they're fine. However I feel like some types outclass others, although I can't pinpoint which ones.

I think the ability is fine, but Silvally’s stats need to be nerfed. Perhaps making it closer to its vanilla form and giving it 85-90 all around would balance it, for example.

Reactions: pqs
Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Merciless / Limber / Poison Point
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant / Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Toxic / Curse
- Liquidation
- Recover
- Gunk Shot / Poison Jab / Knock Off / Haze

Now with an actual attack stat, ToxicMerciless actually becomes a threat. EVs boost Attack while boosting the worse aspects of its bulk. Alternatively, you can run Limber or Poison Point with Curse to be a nasty setup sweeper, especially on OTR.

What an awful idea for a metagame, who'd ever want to play it?

Featured Mons!

Stats: 55/95/50/95/50/110 (BST: 460)
Abilities: Keen Eye / Defiant / Adaptability
New moves: Hurricane, Hyper Voice, Cross Chop, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Blizzard, Thunder

Underestimate this monster at your peril; behold a Normal/Flying-type with enough power to rival the mighty Staraptor (on the special side at least). Even though it might have pitiful bulk and mediocre offensive stats, they are backed up by a great ability in Adaptability, powerful STAB and coverage moves - including priority - and the ability to boost with Swords Dance. Don't forget that you can crit your way through everything with 100% critting Night Slash and Leaf Blade (now both 100BP) and Cross Chop, thanks to the almighty Sticck. Or, choose the "special" avenue with Keen Eye, an ability that now boosts your accuracy by 30%. Simply blow your foes away with hurricanes or blizzards, or put them in wheelchairs with thunder, this little duck can do it all. It's high-risk as even Cryogonal's Rapid Spin can 3HKO, but it certainly is a lot of fun.

Stats:
80/80/50/50/110/90 (BST: 460)
Abilities: Vital Spirit / Swarm / Iron Fist
New moves: Mega Punch, Fire Punch, Meteor Mash

Oh, boy, by far the worst early-game Bug-type that the genii at Game Freak ever created - until now! Let Papa Cancer introduce you to the Heracross of PU, which blasts through the tier with Mega Punch (80BP, 100% Accurate; changes to the user's primary type) and Drain Punch, now boosted by 30% thanks to Iron Fist! Well, it was never going to be OU now, was it... But this thing is indeed a menace in PU. Near perfect coverage in Drain Punch and Meteor Mash leaves it free to boost with SD, break through its counters with Fire Punch and Knock Off, or pick off faster mons with a boosted, now STAB Mach Punch. This little bug has finally found its spot in the Sun.

Stats: 65/45/78/97/78/97 (BST: 460)
Abilities: Swift Swim / Hydration / Prankster
New moves: Dazzling Gleam, Energy Ball, Calm Mind, Lovely Kiss

This heart-shaped fish now finally has some merit over daddy Alomomola - drive your foes crazy with Prankster Sweet Kiss Lovely Kiss, then boost in their face and put them back to sleep if they dare escape their enforced siesta. With (almost) Primarina levels of power and coverage, this thing is unstoppable after four or five CM boosts. With some actual bulk and a decent defensive typing - as well as actually having access to Calm Mind - this is more than doable, and a potent powerhouse in PU.

Just three for now, but there's a lot more where this came from! Hop on over to the Weebly to find out (nearly - WIP lol) everything there is to know about this confusing shitfest divine masterpiece of a pet mod, or follow our Discord if you want to follow updates, watch the Draft League, and take part in the creative process!
Sorry for double posting, but this is a new thing that will be updated weekly. Check them out!

Stats: 91/100/85/100/85/109 (BST: 570)
Abilities: RKS System
New moves: Recover, Taunt, Earthquake, Multi-Attack, Calm Mind, Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, Psyshock, Wild Charge, Overheat, Sludge Bomb, Sludge Wave, Grass Knot, Psychic, Poison Jab, Hyper Beam

Silvally is a pretty strong candidate for the most disappointing Pokemon of all time. Never in the history of Pokemon has one been hyped up to such an extent with trailers, the anime, and in-game lore describing its breath-taking power that needed to be restrained and its connections to the God of the Pokemon universe, only to end up being a piece of garbage that fell down to PU (being barely usable there) with all of its 18 forms being outclassed by its supposedly weakened, restrained pre-evolution Type: Null. Not in CFM! Not only has it received a crapton of new moves, including Multi-Attack transforming into one of 18 excellent moves depending on its held Memory (Extreme Speed for Normal, Sucker Punch for Dark, Spore for Grass, etc.), but it also has revamped stats and a souped-up RKS System (User receives stat boosts depending on held memory) that gives every form an appropriate power boost to compensate for the lack of an item. Silvally is now one of OU's most unpredictable and versatile threats, with almost every form being able to accomplish a specific role, and do it extremely well. whether it be Fighting 6-0ing teams lacking good Physical walls, to Steel laughing off physical damage while disposing of hazards and keeping itself healthy with Recover, to Water functioning as an arguably better Vincune replacement that works particularly well on Trick Room teams.

Stats: 120/120/100/120/100/100 (BST: 660)
Abilities: Ice Body, Mold Breaker
New moves: Dragon Dance, Freeze-Dry, Glaciate, Earthquake, Icicle Crash, Taunt, Superpower

Kyurem wasn't really a bad Pokemon per se, but there were some things about it that were questionable, like the lack of a good physical Ice STAB, and a surprisingly shallow movepool with plenty of options, but few useful ones. Also, all three of its signature moves are bloody useless. In CFM, not only is Glaciate (95 BP, 100% accurate, 15% chance to freeze, Physical or Special depending on higher Attack stat, hits both targets in doubles) actually a really good move, but Kyurem also gains the potential to set-up sweep, as well as some juicy new coverage in Freeze-Dry, Earthquake and Superpower. While its power has been toned down slightly, its bulk and speed have been improved, granting it more set-up opportunities and immediate presence on the field.

Stats: 86/95/86/116/56/96 (BST: 535)
Abilities: Unnerve, Compound Eyes, Tinted Lens
New moves: Draco Meteor, Dragon Dance, Quiver Dance, Dragon Pulse, Dragon Rush, Earthquake, Heat Wave, Iron Tail, Outrage

If Exeggutor-Alola can be a Dragon because it's the dragonfruit Pokemon, we figured that we might as well make the dragonfly Pokemon an actual Dragon as well. Besides the obvious elephant in the room that is Tinted Lens Draco Meteor, Yanmega can also run sweeper sets with Quiver Dance: it's just as scary as it sounds. And while not as effective, physical sets with Dragon Dance be run with either Tinted Lens or Compound Eyes for that nearly 100% accurate Dragon Rush action. Yanmega may seem like the perfect sweeper, maybe a tad too perfect, but there is a silver lining to all of this: Quiver Dance and Tinted Lens have been rendered incompatible with one another for the sake of balance: After all, +1 Tinted Lens Z-Draco is reaching Naganadel levels of absurd. With that said, Yanmega is not at all a slouch, with Choice Specs, Dragon Dance and even non-Tinted Lens QD all posing threats in different ways.

Stats: 70/70/90/70/90/110 (BST: 500)
Abilities: Hydration, Water Bubble
New Moves: Calm Mind, Energy Ball

Aah Phione. The legendary who probably shouldn't exist. In vanilla, it's worse than Manaphy in every single way. Worse stats, worse movepool, and while they have the same ability, Hydration is garbage. However, here in CFM, Phione....still is worse than Manaphy. Worse stats- oh wait! That's right! Phione has Water Bubble, the ability once signature to the Dewpider line. That alone makes it a very potent UU threat, especially after a Calm Mind or two. You heard me right, Calm Mind. Phione gained Energy Ball from Manaphy as well. Also, due to intrinsic levitation, Phione is immune to Ground-type moves, protecting it from Earthquakes from Swamperts! What's more, Phione has equal attacking stats and 110 speed, which combined with Liquidation, lets it be a very fast user of Water Bubble, on the physical OR special side! It also has U-Turn, which is always nice for pivoting. Overall, Phione, while in vanilla is the worst legendary of them all, is a massive UU threat and a must-have for any offensive team.

Ayy, thanks for writing this - I think (and I'll do this in future on my posts as well) posting the link to each mon's Weebly entry might be useful as well. Neat analyses - I'm surprised you didn't write a whole thing on just Silvally, tbh

FFF Highlights Week 1
While the Columbus Chode has yet to finish up, it still isn't a bad idea to look over some landmark games for Week 1 of Fighter Fairy Face-Off Season 2.

Gandhi VS FusedJoker
Bulky offensive Celesteela was able to put huge amounts of work against FusedJoker's slow team, with Aeroblast + Flash Cannon being almost impossible to wall out for him, while Joker's team couldn't do any damage back, ultimately leading to his team's demise. Celesteela is currently at the top for kills this season.

AVKarp VS JIggy YT
After AVKarp's Pikachu sniped JIggy's Palossand with Grass Knot and Occa Berry Ferro lured in Latias and took it out with Spike Cannon, AVKarp was able to switch in his Twinkle Tackle Azelf and clean out the rest of his opponent's team.

PorygodOfSeizures VS FiriumZMagikarp
In a down to the wire stand-off, Karp's Slaking was able to switch in on Cresselia and started to set Bulk Up, and for a moment it seemed all was lost for Porygod. Thankfully, Porygod made an incredibly smart call to preserve his Shedinja, who was able to reduce a +2 Slaking to set-up fodder for yet another spectacular late-game sweep.

Cancer Fairy VS Boomalacka #2
In this tense match, Cancer Fairy made a variety of plays while showing off the stunning power of Unown in draft format, catching his opponent with a Fire-type Unown. Gyarados was also able to put in work late-game with an Inferno Overdrive set.

Check this document for current standings and top kills, and remember, Week 2 starts today!

Sir, I don't want to be a pain on the butt, but we forgot to rank Kartana, so I nom it to S-. Why? It still hits hard as fuck, now it has an actual Steel-type STAB and Scarf sets help to revenge kill stuff like Gardevoir-Mega and non-Scarf Unown, even Greninja-ash if using Water Absorb. Yeah, it suffers from lots of Fire-types being good, but in that case it should be ranked at least at A+.
PD: Shedinja also needs to be ranked.
