Clefairy's solid bulk, Magic Guard, and Moonlight make it a versatile special wall in ZU, capable of taking on common attackers like Glaceon, Golduck, and Lumineon. Night Shade ensures Clefairy can still take on Calm Mind users and prevents Tera Steel or Poison boosters from sitting on it. Knock Off prevents would-be checks like Vespiquen from switching in freely, leaving them more susceptible to entry hazards set by teammates, and removing Eviolite from foes like Hisuian Sliggoo and Vullaby helps enable offensive teammates. Thunder Wave dissuades foes reliant on their Speed, like Stonjourner and Girafarig, from switching in and attempting to break through. Despite Clefairy's strong special bulk, its physical bulk is less impressive, and the Water-types it checks often carry pivot moves, meaning that switching in on these often leads to it facing down an attacker like Stonjourner or Banette. As such, answers to these like Dunsparce and Vullaby are recommended. Tera Steel helps slow down attackers like Glaceon and Girafarig, and it can allow for an emergency paralysis against foes like Stonjourner and Grumpig.
