[OVERVIEW]
Clefairy fulfills a niche as one of the few viable pure Fairy-types within the tier, lacking the weaknesses that Ribombee has to Fire and Flying while keeping the defensive utility of a Fairy-type. Its main niches over other Fairy-types like Aromatisse are its access to Knock Off, which makes common Fairy-type switch-ins like Charizard and Centiskorch bad options, and Magic Guard, which means it doesn't care about chip damage. With a wide support movepool featuring moves like Stealth Rock and Encore, along with reliable recovery, it can compress roles on certain teams effectively. However, despite these qualities, Clefairy is heavily reliant on its item to keep its bulk. It also suffers from competition with other pure Fairy-types like Aromatisse and Comfey; the former has more physical bulk and is less hindered by its item being removed, while the latter has Taunt and priority in Triage Draining Kiss. Finally, without Encore, Clefairy is liable to be taken advantage of by setup sweepers like Uxie and Doublade.

[SET]
name: Defensive
move 1: Moonblast / Seismic Toss
move 2: Softboiled
move 3: Stealth Rock / Knock Off
move 4: Encore / Thunder Wave
item: Eviolite
ability: Magic Guard
nature: Calm
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moonblast lets Clefairy hit foes like Thievul and Absol, while Seismic Toss deals consistent damage to targets with high Special Defense like Gigalith and Steel-types like Aggron. Knock Off cripples Pokemon heavily reliant on their items like Doublade and Charizard. Encore prevents setup and can deter recovery moves from being used. Thunder Wave cripples faster foes like Galarian Articuno and Jellicent. Running 10 Speed IVs is an option to always avoid the 2HKO from Gyro Ball Ferroseed; however, this means that Clefairy underspeeds important Pokemon like Gigalith and Quagsire. Clefairy struggles against Poison- and Steel-types like Weezing and Ferroseed, so switch-ins to them like Wishiwashi and Charizard are heavily appreciated. Wishiwashi sponges Knock Off from Gallade and Sandslash for Clefairy, while in return, Clefairy is able to take on its checks like Lanturn; as for Charizard, Clefairy switches into Rock-types like Gigalith and Regirock for it.

Its main niches over the other Fairy-types like Aromatisse are its access to Knock Off, which removes items from its foes switch-ins like Aromatisse, and Magic Guard, which ignores protects Clefairy from passive sources of damage from like Toxic, Sand, and entry hazards. With a wide support movepool featuring moves like Stealth Rock and Encore, along with reliable recovery, it can compress roles on certain teams effectively. However, despite these qualities, Clefairy is heavily reliant on its item to keep its bulk. It also suffers from competition with other Fairy-types like Ribombee and Alcremie (people don't really use Alcremie in this meta; use a different example here like Silvally-Fairy, Comfey, or Whimsicott); the former has a great Speed tier, Quiver Dance, and AromatherapyU-turn, while ... while the latter has solid coverage options and an effective Double Dance set. Finally, without Encore, Clefairy is liable to can be quite passive at times, which can be taken advantage of by setup sweepers like Uxie and Doublade.

Mention its utility in beating NP Thievul and crippling Toxic Charizard with Knock Off and/or Toxic
(252 SpA Charizard Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Clefairy: 100-118 (29 - 34.3%) -- 3.7% chance to 3HKO + an immunity to Toxic)
Definitely worth mentioning Thievul given how much it's taken off in Scrafty's absence

move 3: Stealth Rock / Knock Off
move 4: Encore / Toxic / Thunder Wave

optionally reduce its Speed IV for reduced damage from Ferroseed's Gyro Ball, 2HKO --> 3HKO

[SET COMMENTS]
Other attacks like Seismic Toss let Clefairy deal consistent damage to all targets, save Ghost-types, but fails to while Knock Off removes critical items like Doublade's Eviolite or Charizard's Heavy-Duty Boots. Encore locks opponents into an unfavorable move so a partner of Clefairy can abuse them. Thunder Wave (imo Toxic also deserves a mention when speaking about status options here and their applications) cripples faster foes like Galarian Articuno and Cinccino (Cinccino is not being used so much in a meta with Doublade, there are other fast attackers to mention before this one + Clef would not really want to either lose Evio or take ~60% from Tail Slap). Clefairy struggles against Poison- and Steel-types like Weezing and Ferroseed, so switch-ins to them like Wishiwashi and Charizard are heavily appreciated; in return, Wishiwashi sponges Knock Off from Gallade and Sandslash for Clefairy, while in return, Clefairy is able to take on checks to either, like Lanturn while Clefairy switches into Rock-types like Gigalith and Regirock for Charizard (4 hit Rock Blast 2HKOes SpDef Clefairy - would use a different example + fix the sentence structure). Stealth Rock setters like Aggron and Claydol Regirock appreciate that Clefairy is able to use Stealth Rock instead, allowing them to use different moves and sets effectively.

Not QC anymore, but I thought Spdef Clef's utility in checking meta threats like NP Thievul and Toxic Charizard atm should be mentioned. Also reordered moves slightly so that we aren't stacking 4 options (4 if you include Toxic) that it can viably use in one move slot. Feel free to implement edits in bold/strikethrough if you agree.

Other attacks like Seismic Toss let Clefairy deal consistent damage to most targets i think it'd be better to name what youre wearing down faster than moonblast specifically, "consistent damage" you can get from /dt seismic toss, while Knock Off removes critical items change the wording to like cripple or smth like Doublade's Eviolite or Charizard's Heavy-Duty Boots. Encore locks opponents into an unfavorable move so a partner of Clefairy can abuse them prevent setup/can stop recovery. Stealth Rock setters like Aggron and Regirock Sandaconda appreciate that Clefairy is able to use Stealth Rock instead, allowing them to use different moves and sets effectively this could prob be more concise.

Clefairy fulfills a niche as one of the few viable pure Fairy-types within the tier, lacking the weaknesses that Ribombee has in Fire and Flying, while keeping the defensive utility of a Fairy-type. Its main niches over other Fairy-types like Aromatisse are its access to Knock Off and Magic Guard be more specific- more utility, less power. Doesn't mean you need to explain how magic guard works like how asa had you remove, but an explainer as to why this is an important niche would be nice. It is also effective at switching into Charizard and Unburden Thievul, two Pokemon that threaten the tier's most common Fairy-type, Ribombee I do think this sentence is unnecessary though, because Aromatisse/Comfey are the real competition, not Ribombee. With a wide support movepool featuring moves like Stealth Rock and Encore, along with reliable recovery, it can compress roles on certain teams effectively. However, despite these qualities, Clefairy is heavily reliant on its item to keep its bulk. It also suffers from competition with other Fairy-types like Ribombee and Comfey; the former has a great Speed tier, Quiver Dance, and Aromatherapy, while the latter has priority in Triage Draining Kiss and Taunt Why is Ribombee the comparison? It's more common but doesn't remotely do the same shit, Aromatisse makes much more sense and is even ranked the same on the VR. Finally, without Encore, Clefairy is liable to be taken advantage of by setup sweepers like Uxie and Doublade.

Other attacks like Seismic Toss let Clefairy deal consistent damage to targets with high Special Defense like Gigalith or Steel-types like Aggron if you're going to talk about stoss like this then specifically contrasting what moonblast helps to hit could be nice. one of the few cases you'd explain the generic stab move, while Knock Off cripples Pokemon heavily reliant on their items like Doublade or Charizard. Wishiwashi sponges Knock Off from Gallade and Sandslash for Clefairy, while in return, Clefairy is able to take on its checks like Lanturn. For Charizard repetitive, Clefairy switches into Rock-types like Gigalith and Regirock for Charizard I also don't get this at all. Why are you switching out of zard? Unless they're DD/BD I suppose, you literally beat it. Stealth Rock setters like Sandaconda appreciate that Clefairy is able to use Stealth Rock instead, allowing them to use different moves and sets effectively. also not a fan of this, if clef is your rocks setter you're not running conda as a rocks setter. it's something else. Honestly I'd just delete the last 2 sentences they make no sense
