Catching The Legendaries

Latios / Latias
:xy/latios: :xy/latias:
Latios (in Pokemon Omega Ruby) and Latias (in Pokemon Alpha Sapphire) is obtained on Southern Island, which is accessible after meeting Steven on the eastern bank of the water on Route 118. When on Southern Island, you should save just after entering the inner part of the island, after which a cutscene will play and you will participate in a Double Battle. The Pokemon will then request to join your party, and you will be asked to replace one of your Pokemon if you already have six. Note that having a Pokemon with Synchronize in the lead position will not affect Latios's and Latias's natures. They are obtained at Level 30, and Latios will be holding Latiosite, while Latias will be holding Latiasite.

Latias (in Pokemon Omega Ruby) and Latios (in Pokemon Alpha Sapphire) can be obtained if you have the Eon Ticket, which is available only through Mystery Gift events, or by uisng Streetpass with someone who already has the Eon Ticket. When you have collected the ticket, travel to Petalburg City, then speak to Norman inside the Gym. You will be able to travel on a ferry from Slateport City to Southern Island, where either Latios or Latias is found in the inner part of the island at Level 30. After the battle, you will automatically obtain the Soul Dew.

Latios's Maximum Stats

Latios's Moveset:
Heal Pulse (10 PP)
Dragon Breath (20 PP)
Mist Ball (5 PP)
Psycho Shift (10 PP)
Total PP = 45

Latios has low PP for a legendary Pokemon, so it is useful to try to keep it asleep as long as possible. Dragon Breath has an annoying paralysis chance, while Mist Ball will always lower your Pokemon's Special Defense stat. Fortunately, Psycho Shift does not work while Latios is asleep, and Heal Pulse will benefit your Pokemon by healing it.

Latias's Maximum Stats

Latias's Moveset:
Heal Pulse (10 PP)
Dragon Breath (20 PP)
Mist Ball (5 PP)
Psycho Shift (10 PP)
Total PP = 45

Latias has a similar moveset to Latios. It has low PP for a legendary Pokemon, so it is useful to try to keep it asleep as long as possible. Dragon Breath has an annoying paralysis chance. Luster Purge is likely to be less threatening than Mist Ball as you should be attacking Latias with physical attacks. Fortunately, Psycho Shift does not work while Latias is asleep, and Heal Pulse will benefit your Pokemon by healing it.

Groudon / Kyogre
:xy/groudon: :ss/kyogre:
Groudon (in Pokemon Omega Ruby) and Kyogre (in Pokemon Alpha Sapphire) is found in the lowest level of the Cave of Origin during the story. After entering this floor of the cave, a cutscene will play, after which you need to simply walk towards the Pokemon to battle it. Battling Groudon or Kyogre is required to advance the story, but catching it is not. They are found at Level 45.

Groudon's Maximum Stats

Groudon's Moveset:
Lava Plume (15 PP)
Rest (10 PP)
Earthquake (10 PP)
Precipice Blades (10 PP)
Total PP = 45

Groudon can be tough to catch thanks to its power, access to Rest to recover its HP, and fairly low PP. Lava Plume gets a boost by the harsh sunlight and has a good chance to burn, while Precipice Blades and Earthquake are especially strong due to their high Base Power and Primal Groudon's massive base 180 Attack stat. Rest will allow Groudon to heal its HP fully and eliminate any status conditions, but you can take advantage of this, as you are given two free turns while Groudon can do nothing. You can also use a Pokemon with Taunt to prevent Groudon from using Rest. Note that Groudon will summon permanent harsh sunlight, which negates Water-type moves and powers up Fire-type moves.

Kyogre's Maximum Stats

Kyogre's Moveset:
Body Slam (15 PP)
Aqua Ring (20 PP)
Ice Beam (10 PP)
Origin Pulse (10 PP)
Total PP = 55

Kyogre is much easier to catch than Groudon. Body Slam is only a minor annoyance with its paralysis chance. Origin Pulse and Ice Beam hit much harder, however, with the former getting a power boost from both STAB and rain and the latter also having a chance to freeze your Pokemon. Aqua RIng will let Kyogre gradually recover its HP, but the amount is low enough to be manageable. Note that Kyogre will summon permanent heavy rain, which negates Fire-type moves and powers up Water-type moves.
