Half of the teams are officially out of the tour, so it's time for the long awaited team dumps. Feel free to post teams from any of the tiers this PL or your favorite sets/innovations you found. I'll make a full team dump later, but for now I'll share this (in)famous team that the bagons found great success with.

This team was of D2's invention (I think for ghosting tour a while back?) so unfortunately I can't take credit. I did however tell D2 to replace the rocks Landorus-T on the original 6 with a Pyroak because it's broken, and well, the rest is history. We figured birdspam HO would be a good shout Week 1 with our opponents having nothing to scout from, and we ended up being confident enough in the team to reuse it Week 2, and almost loaded a slight variation of it Week 5 if we hadn't already lost. I believe other teams such as the Saharajs and Crawlers used variations of this 6 as well, with it having multiple victories in the CAP 31 Playtest to boot. The team gets totally demolished by opposing Venom-E, and its matchup versus Dragapult/Scarf Lele can be quite tricky as well, so it's far from perfect; however, its sheer offensive strength, as well as its uniquely good matchup versus typical HO annoyances like Arghonaut and Astrolotl, make up for it in spades. Try it out!

Here are the top four of my favorite teams so far + my entire gen8 builder (as the last paste). Go nuts!

https://pokepast.es/c12728c11017bd59
- team with sub zap, sub zap is broken and you should all use it

https://pokepast.es/8e3245c52ec2b433
- standard team, used it vs TNM. Idea is to get FS with bro and then tport to ttar to start killing stuff. Can use chromera > clefable if you're feeling fancy

https://pokepast.es/2426abd2de86e0be
- rain on crack cocaine, use at your own risk. demon rachi is extremely satisfying to use when it works, but if it doesn't you can use grass knot or weather ball thundy-t (i put on grass knot there after saharaja was released, but weather ball is more fun). Was built before the pyroak buff, and modified a little for when people started spamming it

https://pokepast.es/26e3de93549ac195
- fun clant team, used it in w1. one of my first saharaja teams. kinda sucks into a well played pyroak tho, so beware

https://pokepast.es/9fbb305c3e416d31
- my entire gen8 builder now that Scarlet and Violet are coming out later this year, go nuts. you can see I have some real old teams in there. be warned that some teams might not be finished

This has been an absolutely unbelievable season, I'm really at a loss for words. I've been looking forward to doing this team dump for a while, so I'm not gonna waste too much time- gonna start with week by week loads, and then dump my entire builder (please do not call for a wellness check after viewing it, I promise I am of sane mind.)

W1 vs Velvet- https://pokepast.es/753c097cbc756ed6

Blind ish matchup against a team I didn't have a lot of a read on, felt like Velv had disrespected Bao in past sets I could see, so I sent it on some more standard JumbZam stuff. One of my favorite games I've ever played, despite the loss- think Velvet played genuinely amazing in this one late to bring it home for them.

W2 vs Spitfire-
SS- https://pokepast.es/e3770f3b172f0249
SM- https://pokepast.es/53c482133b2764ff
ORAS- https://pokepast.es/d03a88bf32fe54a5

First week in Bo3 was a hard one, Spitfire is someone who I respect a lot and who is genuinely a nightmare to prep for in one gen, much less three. ORAS was a spur of the moment call after not being thrilled with some ideas before gametime. SM wasn't used, but I wanna say Lily used it week three? SS is my favorite team this week- to explain the snorlax bit, this was the building process, thanks to Wulf for the amazing idea that shat on me in tests.

W3 vs Kate-
SS- https://pokepast.es/c7eeb6336842c523
SM- mlop team above
ORAS- https://pokepast.es/e7eb8a45bdb6b194

Super choked this week, unfortunately. I like the prep, but I don't think I had practiced enough going in to this- was a fun matchup to prep for vs Kate though.

W4 vs Jonfilch-
SS- https://pokepast.es/3a5c94bc9d2b0f86
SM- https://pokepast.es/35807cc778339245
ORAS- i forgor

This was such a fun week. I adore that SS team, we were fully in the Argh love part of the season by now, and it's absolutely the best idea I made of many argh builds I tried to make work. SM was trying to deviate a bit from my normal offenses, go for something significantly fatter- and I loooove running MLati especially with how SM was working out.

W5 vs Adem-
SS- https://pokepast.es/f7a582b06032e51f
SM- https://pokepast.es/d111f8d11d381f1d
ORAS- https://pokepast.es/c2f3836f5c375aa4

Week of reusing a bit, ended up biting me in the ass. Scrapped a planned Fog build cause I lost every single test game for like 3 hours, I just could not pilot it. SM was the best team I've ever made, the now-widely spammed Test HO. ORAS was a jay reuse as I figured going for not-HO offense would be enough to pull it off. Mad about this week, mostly for choking in game 3, but also for missing all of EVO SFV top 8 because adem made me play vs stall at 11pm (it was such a banger grands, too... im sorry Idom)

Tiebreak vs Pannu- https://pokepast.es/a9607cb1a1d21e7f

So, now we were in tiebreakers after a season full of ties- fitting, really. Pannu was someone I wanted to play a lot this tour as he was having a great SM season, and I always want to play great SM players and see how I stack up. Noticed a lot of Torn as the Bao check and sent it on one of my favorite mons, Diancie, that ended up with an utterly dogshit matchup anyways. Paj, however, has no bad matchups. Tang was another pick I'm proud of, with Pannu's use of Kart/MShark earlier, and overall this is a team I am incredibly proud of.

Semis vs Micaiah-
SS- https://pokepast.es/1f50dca8a0641a36
SM- https://pokepast.es/01656ff67fc8dffd
ORAS- reuse some HO

This was a weird week because I did not think that most of the teams the Crawlers were loading by this point were very different or very solid. SS I went through a million ideas but settled on an aggressive HO bring. SM was an excuse to run taunt torn+gallade, which performed really well in the tests I got.

Finals vs Raj-
SS- https://pokepast.es/65a860fdc8b12c28
SM- https://pokepast.es/2687f3c32f07096f

Knew dex was going to try and counter some of my traditional styles, so I pivoted in SM. Hadn't run MLop myself in forever and ended up feeling pretty good about this, and probably could have leveraged the Jumbao matchup way better. SS was a really solid and fun game I think I could have done a lot better in nonetheless.

Builders-
SS- https://pokepast.es/8d3096a0edadc0e7 this has teams from as far back as I can remember. Some gems in here- Elon Musk, Kerf Dug, etc.
SM- https://pokepast.es/e098079b6236f6d4 none of these are from when SM was current gen, I'll say that much. Some stuff is unfinished ideas I probably will never end up finishing. If you're gonna use test ho keep the nicks and listen to You and Your Friends, banger album.
my oras builder is bare as hell don't need that

Gonna put this last bit in a hide tag so this isn't a million pages long-
Shoutouts for this amazing season-
Wulfanator- I wasn't planning on managing this year, but I'm so happy I decided to say "fuck that" and comanage with you. You are an incredible manager, a great player, an amazing person overall, just... there is really no shortage of words that I could use to describe how genuinely fantastic you are. I'm ecstatic that I can call you one of my best friends on this site. 3/3, go 4/4 next.
Lily- I'm so glad I was able to team with you, it's a true joy. You are absolutely amazing at this game, that one game in week 5 was jawdropping. An absolute joy to be around and to talk to, and it means a lot you made so much time for us with plenty to be busy with.
BasedWhat?- You came into a tour playing a gen most of us are utterly crap at and did amazing work for not just one slot but for plenty. That alone would be enough for me to absolutely adore you as a user, but you're also genuinely one of the funniest guys I've ever met on here, helped team environment be so fantastic, just genuinely a great dude. Extremely happy to have been able to team with you and talk with you so much.
zioziotrip- You are so fucking good man, lmao. Despite a rough start from some crap luck, you put on a goddamn show and a half towards end of season and playoffs. Like I've said ab everyone, you really are another amazing dude who I'm lucky to have met through this and were an amazing teammate. Never gonna get tired of seeing Strive gifs in your channel at random points too, lmao.
LBN- THE CLINCHER. My blood pressure may never recover from watching your games- and seeing some of your builds- this year. Great energy, one of the best teammates I can say I've had, and truly a great mind for the game. I wish I was half as good as you are in making some of this insanity work.
clean- You are an absolutely phenomenal dude, and a great player to boot. Such an important part of making this the best team environment I've ever been a part of, and I really can't thank you enough for all the work you did this season in all facets.
Togkey- you are one funny dude, lmao. Wish you were a lil more active mid-season, but you did help keep up morale a ton in the week we had to sub you in and were great to close out playoffs in prep and in calls. Hope to one day team with you again and talk a bit more, haha.
Fogbound Lake- Very rarely do I meet someone on this site that makes me question everything I've ever thought about this game. You are one of those rare few. I don't think I've ever met someone so creative and so effective in the builder and in game. A true carry, an absolute rock or backbone for us, and someone who is so amazingly positive and great to be around outside of the game, too.
Kaede- It was super great teaming with you, and I'm really sorry your internet cost you a chance to play in a much deserved finals game. I wish I could have supported you more personally, but alas, my ORAS-ing is really bad. Another super great person to be around- and that one stunt or die endgame to close out our 5-0 semis will live in my mind forever.
Baloor- I fucking love you man. An absolutely hilarious dude who can play a fucking fantastic game of mons when you are on form, and it felt like you were on form a hell of a lot this season. One of the most genuine people I've met on this site too, a quality that's so amazing yet so rare sometimes. Waltloor White is also one of the best alts I've ever seen. Thank you, man, for being you this tour- it was absolutely fantastic.
Scizivire- BIG SCIZZZZZ! You were an absolute hero stepping in for a third game of ORAS ever in finals, and put on a great show in it. Helped out so much with building and as always are one of my favorite people on this site.
Astra- Wish you were a lil more active, boss, but you are another one of my favorite people on Smog and I'm thrilled you were on this squad.
Zetalz- I fucking love you man, lmao. Helped in all sorts of situations, kept morale up when it was low, an amazing memer, a great teammate and team presence, a man who needs to be gofundme'd google fiber, the man pushing the BaldSHSP agenda, one of the best people on this site.

Bonus shoutouts for helpers-
spoo- one of the best people ever, god bless you man. Love having you for the postseason and all the late night shittalk before.
Potatochan- i wish I drafted you, dude, you're incredible. Hope to talk to you more going forward, you're awesome to be around and to watch play.
D2TheW- thanks for giving me the blessing after your curse, loooooooooool (congrats on playtest win and thank you for being such an awesome dude, love you man.)
Jordy- you're the goat always and forever, thank you so much for the help and for being you. stop sending me fucking nav tho
Lasen- not only are you great and helped a ton, you put up with me yelling "sleepy bjerg!" over and over every time Liquid is on, so you deserve a nobel prize for dealing with that (love you man fr)
This was the best team I've ever been a part of, and I am so happy we are walking away with a win. Bless the Rajas.

Well, it's been a fucking wild ride, the stress I felt going into this finals tiebreak cannot be understated, and I'm glad to have been able to play what is possibly my favorite tier on the site in this way. I definitely got lucky at spots and other times where Cawmodore came around to show me life isnt all fun, but i had an absolute blast players with my teammates (Shoutouts at the end) First though, it's Teamdump time. I will also post my Vetoed builds since I think they are fucking hilarious, aswell as the pokemon i wanted to use but never found the chance to. Also in advance, the custom sprites for the pokemon i'll use are gonna be found here or from my pc.

Week 1

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7cap-636572

For Week one i wanted to test the waters a bit. I saw my opponent was a BDSP player and considering they focus blasted my bulletproof libra i think i was onto something. Sadly this game was fucking awful and honestly I had zero business losing without being as unlucky as i was, so i didn't get to show off some of the pokemon as i'd like. And for both Jumbao and Syclant, this was the only games I brought them to. As for the building itself, it's nothing too crazy, just your standard fair (and bright powder toxapex)

Week 2

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7cap-638318

Yes, i decided to Stall. This was actually my first time just outright stalling in a team tour so it wasn't prepped for very hard, even outside of my games they never ran many stallbreakers, and while they brought subseed Serperior this week, they never fully committed to it and thus never took a pokemon off of me otherwise. The Naviathan set was something i stole from a throwaway suggestion Lily said, about stallbreaker CM Naviathan, and figured it'd be a solid slot to make this team have a way to force progress harder in a fatty mirror. Sadly, much like Syclant, it took a knock from torn-t to pivot and never saw play otherwise, everything else won so i never had to. And also like Syclant, i never used the thing again. A shame.

Week 3
212_1.png1662328645148.png
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7cap-639421

This time, i went low. Low into the D ranks infact. Stratagem caught my eye as a victim of potential slander on the VR, as i felt it very easily could be better than what was displayed in the VR, and after tests I figured i was correct. By opting into a CM rockium-Z set, between HP Fighting and Flamethrower, it actually covers a fat chunk of the metagame, aswell as outspeeding most of it naturally. And it put this to full display, racking in like 4 kills on Celesteela, Reuniclus, Mega Tyranitar and Excadrill to boot. Outside of just Stratagem though, i actually had a dream matchup this game i almost felt bad. I really loaded Buzzwole Gastrodon into no Z Excadrill + Krillowatt sand it was just beautiful.

Week 4
784.png
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7cap-641309

Once again i went dumpster diving. This time for another CAP i felt was receiving slander, Kitsunoh. Originally i had an offensive Kitsunoh planned with 4A spell tag for offense, while combining spin blocking and a soft Tapu lele + Magearna check. However i changed up the lineup, and felt wish kitsunoh was more helpful on the team. As for the rest, i had to use the best CAP to do it, Colossoil, another major victim of slander why are you B-. Jordy used a bunch of fatter sands overall so i figured both Colossoil and Kommo-o would be great brings. Truth be told though, if Jordy didn't flub his endgame handling of Kommo-o in his own words, i woulda lost this one, but i still played it well overall, it just wouldn't have been a win.

Week 5
1662329476555.png
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7cap-641916

I Got Too Comfortable. How was i supposed to know SALAC CAWMODORE was real (it isnt). Jokes aside though the original building goal was Mimikyu spikes. Team looked very sick but unfortunately it sucks. I looked Jumbao dead in the... eyes? and said Scarf Kyu-B Is Enough. I still think Mimikyu to be potentially viable though, ghost fighting coverage is a good combo and the jumbao speed tier is a good one, it's just i didn't put it to good enough work. Team went in guns blazing and well it got smoked, not much else to say.

Semifinals
1662329909544.png1662329920301.png1662329937509.png
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7cap-644232

Infernape my beloved. This is the secret greatest to do it in this tier. Fire Fighting is such a good offensive combo in this tier, and can pivot out on those that can handle it. It's a decent weavile check if you don't eat a flinch, aswell as checking Scizor. It did good work this game, showcasing what it's capable of fairly well; as an offensive pivot with solid defensive utility. As for cyclohm, their team had so much HO and one of Cyclohms best qualities is pissing HO off, mons like Caribolt, Cawmodore, and offensive mons like Torn-T, Lopunny and others. Sadly lopunny just never got the bad touch static, so the game got very tight, but some good plays brought me the game home.

Finals
1662330285930.png1662330293729.png1662330320366.png788.png
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7cap-645140

I wanted to use Ash Gren this week, not for many reasons per say it was just a pokemon i fancied this week. Once again everybody beyond velvet on their team was an HO good, so Cyclohm came again. Ash Greninja and Mega Scizor would ideally be able to revenge kill any of the HO threats which Cyclohm couldn't handle, and then i had Reuniclus for the balance matchup. Velvet on the other hand, picked up just how much i used Torn-T (while their entire scout had 5/5 torn-ts lmao) and brought Mega Diancie. Sadly i had both fini and Scizor this time, so it didn't go exactly as well as was their ideal, albeit it was still terrifying. Another bit of their prep this week was they just ignored ash greninja this time, which losing to played into my prep into the TB where i was originally paired to play them again.

Finals Tiebreak
1662330606267.png1662330612230.png1662330620327.png1662330627349.png1662330636482.png
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7cap-646466

To say i was nervous was an understatement. Considering i was the final one to play at 1-1 deciding my entire teams fate, i decided to bet on... scarf infernape. Into the guy who self proclaimed to use Argho/Pex every week. I regret nothing and thank you SHSP for staying alive for this LOOOL.
Jokes aside though Velvet's prep showed very little respect for Kartana as a whole, and while the original building target was Diancie myself, i shifted over to Kartana after BasedWhat? told me i brought mono lose to Kartana. This teams main gripes were Gliscor Pex Reuniclus and Mega Medicham, and decided to cut my losses vs the last mentioned and spec into Snaga's more fat tendencies. Pain split on Libra would let me use it as an actual check to it for a fair while, while crunch mega ttar would stop cocky reuniclus trying to setup, as well as mega latias which 6-0d. Double-Z was something i threw around as BasedWhat? also mentioned i got 6-0d by gliscor on preview, so i tacked on Waterium z for emergency cases. By the way did you see infernape do 54 to a mega sableye i just thought that was kinda interesting please rank this mon.

...Now for the Vetoed arts. Here i had some Pokemon i had intended to use at some point but never found the chance or SHSP started breathing down my neck upon me typing their names in the builder. No you will not get context.

003_1.png

Anyway, with that out of the way (Don't question it) it's time for shoutouts. I had a blast with you guys and i would love to team with you guys again.

Baloor BasedWhat? My boys, you were hilarious, shooting the shit with you was fucking hilarious and you were great teammates who carried your own very well when you guys played, would love to team with you guys again at any point. Highly recommend.

Fogbound Lake zioziotrip Scizivire Lily The ones who i always expected each n every week, to win. And my god you guys didn't disappoint. As always, shooting the shit with all of you was fucking amazing and i would love to do it again, and it's also nice to finally team with fogbound specifically since we've played each other in ubers on a couple occasions. ...Anyways lily so about banning acupressure in UU..

Wulfanator SHSP The managers. I must apologize for your increased blood pressure every time i posted a pokepaste in my channel. Jokes aside i'm glad you guys drafted me to this team and i would love to play under either of you either in cappl again or another teamtour entirely.

Togkey also a shoutout to the guy who vanished for half the season, came back to us being in finals and suddenly became a high end cheerleader :quagchamppogsire: fr though even if you were inactive you are fucking hilarious and i look forward to teamin w you elsewhere.

Zetalz clean Astra Kaede also glad to play with you guys, i look forward to my next chance to team with and shoot the shit with you guys again.

Kerf + Weav Offense (outprepped and smashed) - https://pokepast.es/cc529b4abf8a3a3c

I really enjoyed building in ORAS this CAPPL. The tier seems quite healthy and I don't think Kerf is broken anymore. Going 3-3 is not the worst: I autolost to Micaiah's team on preview because his Hawk is assuredly faster and/or carries Mental Herb (which I only learned to do later!), and was thoroughly outclassed in the builder and mostly outplayed against Steam Buns both times.

Thank you SHSP and Wulfanator for drafting me! I recognize these mentions will exceed my non-badged limit but:

zioziotrip - You sound like you've smoked a pack of cigs a day for a decade in VC. On the other hand, you've never lost. An absolute pleasure to be on your team, especially for your meme game.
clean - Sort of a weeb but solid player.
Fogbound Lake - Incredible and creative builder that deserves more sleep than you are willing to give yourself.
spoo - Thank you for diffusing the carbomb.
Astra - Good meme game. I forgot you were on our team.
Zetalz - CAMEL ON A BOAT (*adds CAAAP to CAPCL*).
Togkey - I have no idea who you are still but needing an ORAS sub and having you say it was your last day at your job was hilarious.
D2TheW -
Baloor - Storm Zone-esque larper with a lot of untapped potential on this site. I could see you getting mod and permabanning me in under a year for sure. Godspeed king.
Jordy - Binpin's world will never be the same.
Lily - Did not say hi much but you knocked our socks off with that one SM game with 3845838583 correct 50/50s in a right that was wild. You beat Clementine for the record.
Kaede - The truest ORAS pilot of 2021. It was a pleasure constantly behaving well in front of you to avoid infractions.
Potatochan - Finchinator if he was born in a better part of New Jersey and had a positive outlook on life.
Tadasuke - The goat, thanks for being in the team cord.
Basedburner - The true goat, thanks for being in the team cord.
Lasen - https://tenor.com/view/rip-bozo-gif-22294771

I SHOULD'VE LOADED BIRDSPAM MORE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

LBN - I'm really happy you shined. I've told you this before, but too many people on Smogon become someone different by virtue of who they associate with. Fortunately for you, your nurtured, idiosyncratic nature guaranteed that it would take extreme weathering to your psyche and personality to change who you are. Despite the world around you in the team discord, you managed to ignore all iotas of logic and reason offered by your teammates to place yourself as the best SM player in the tour, and the man of the world in this heartwarming moment. Some people have convictions that outlast those of others. Mr. 378 would certainly be proud.

Had an absolutely amazing time this tour! I didn't build a whole lot but I did end up experimenting with some different sets that I'd like to share a few of.

:ss/naviathan:
Naviathan @ Leftovers
Ability: Heatproof
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Scald
- Taunt
- Slack Off

So honestly I'm pretty surprised nobody else has used this but it's actually really good. CM + Taunt + Recovery move is pretty unique as far as pretty much anything in this tier goes, only other one that really comes to mind is like CM Taunt Mew?? which is obviously really nonexistent and doesn't have the same insane utility Navi has. You set up all over stuff like Pex, Bao, Clef, hell you can even use Libra as fodder with a couple boosts which is honestly just insane to think about. Scald cleaves through this much of this tier pretty easily, this is basically just Suicune but a lot better. Does have some pretty significant faults, not great into like Reuni depending on how the setup war goes / some 50/50s, useless into Argh, hard to build around due to it not being an amazing Steel, etc. but it's really solid and probably Navi's best set imo.

:ss/smokomodo:
Smokomodo @ Firium Z
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 44 HP / 212 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Earthquake
- Morning Sun
- Stealth Rock

So honestly this was born purely out of me wanting to use the mon but I think rocks Smoko is pretty good. It is very solid at keeping up uncontested rocks; Torn dies to Inferno Overdrive, Lando can't switch into you more than once, you can wear down Wash, honestly it's mostly just Tomohawk and that isn't all that common of a fogger anyway. Beyond that it's a big threat, Blitz spammer that can slam Pex is cool, and it pairs really well with Drought Bao. Fun af to use and makes for a good Z user since Inferno Overdrive in sun is more often than not a free KO button.

:ss/smogecko:
Smogecko @ Focus Sash
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power

The goat at keeping em up for HO and looking cute while doing it.

Mostly just wanted to say a big thank you to SHSP and Wulfanator for drafting me. Across my many tours on Smogon I've had a lot of different managers but you two really were some of the best I've ever had the pleasure of playing for. Not a moment of negativity even when I or someone else was underperforming, and if there was any frustration with the team then you certainly didn't show it. Fostering a bunch of loud mouths into a fun and enjoyable environment for the team is really difficult and something only certain people can do, so I'm glad you guys managed and kept the ship as stable as it was. Getting the opportunity to play games for you has been a highlight, especially that week 5 one everyone keeps talking about >.<. You both deserve this win a ton.

I'm not gonna do individual shoutouts for each teammate because like a few alluded to above, I wasn't super active and honestly I do regret that because the chat was always popping. I don't have a negative word to say about any of you though, minus baloor's semi-ironic addiction to Andrew Tate. We had a very talented group of players and builders, some new and some more experienced, and I can't wait to see what you guys continue to achieve on this site bc you're all definitely going to go places if you continue. Special thanks to SHSP and LBN for a couple of the teams I used, and Jordy for the one I used in finals. o7

:saharaja::arghonaut::dragapult::heatran::zapdos::melmetal: https://pokepast.es/80da376eac48ff2d
this is quite literally one of my favorite teams in the entirety of gen8. I knew I wanted to use camel the week I used this team, before talking to my team about it like a normal person, I was talking to spoo. we played around with a few ideas and came up some nonsense of argh spikes + camel + status spam bc of arghs insanely consistent performance in the tour and type synergy with camel and then status spam to widdle fatter teams down (like other arghs). Spoo had something pretty similar to what we were looking for already but wasnt quite there. i changed out a mon and made quite a few set edits and we ended up with this. i loved the argh spikes + camel + hex pult camel a lot in the end. after we finished editing the team and all that i think i quite literally went undefeated in tests out of like 20 games or so. i found this to have great mus into a ton of common structures being used in this tour and only having a few awkward ones. it performed consistently well in games it was used in the tournament as well. this is the paste to the version I used (i think at least lol). i know we made some small tweaks here and there for other games, like we loaded pult as modest at one point i think? theres a few edits you can make for sure if you feel inclined to. spoo make this a sample bro

I signed up for this CAPPL with zero intention of putting in any real time or effort, but I'm happy to say I failed spectacularly at that goal. Truthfully I really wanted to win this thing and although it ended unfortunately I could not be happier with everything that got us to that point. I've had a truly amazing time being a part of the lechonkers and am so grateful to all of my incredibly talented teammates.

I need to give special thanks to dex for being the hardest working manager I've ever had, I would have rocked up with some genuinely awful teams if not for the hours he spent each week helping me come up with and test ideas, thankyou for believing in and trusting the ones that seemed insane and thankyou for not believing in the ones that were insane. It's no accident your team did so well and I'm sure it won't be the last time.

Not gonna post everything I made for cappl because some of those teams are bad tbqh but some of em helped me win playtest so. Also you're not getting any fancy hyperlinks and I cba to write out all the minisprites.

Double ground balance
https://pokepast.es/0a6389ec3d051419
Built this w2 of cappl and it ended up giving me my only win of the fuckin tour, as well as winning both g3s of playtest finals. Original concept was pretty simple: Pajantom under doom desire has literally no switchins. Argh has phenomenal synergy with libra (circle throw + doom desire up is terrifying), zap does zap things and scarf lele is top 2 scarfers in the tier. I actually do remember the reasoning for the camel evs but I'm taking that to my grave.

DD Mew saves the day
https://pokepast.es/4735f742540f84c7
This team put in just as big a shift in finals reset as the one above. DD pads mew is never sweeping a healthy team but it goes insane against a team that's been worn out even a bit. CM Lele breaks for it really nicely, as do gem and roak. Raja is raja and the paper plane cleans up at the end. Huge shout out to Martyn for hitting all the axels, what a goat.

Tang gang
https://pokepast.es/a60f44845afe466e
Tang is hella underrated, shit checks or counters a dozen things and can para and/or knock the whole tier. Pretty self explanatory build here, hex pult + status + cb ttar to break. Simple and effective.

And they were roommates
https://pokepast.es/4fc5d9f41450ebb2
Oh my god they were roommates

Paperspam ft Dave Grohl on drums
https://pokepast.es/0df4464e989d5bb2
One of the 500 paperspam variants me and spoo made between us. This one has Gem as the rocker to help out the ebook mu which can otherwise sweep from preview if it gets to coil before my ebook can. Paperspam is just broken man idk what to say, this shit never loses.

:worrywhirl:
https://pokepast.es/b4b23d5639994a39
This was the point where I was beginning to lose my sanity while trying to build for playtest. Dumb torn set lures zap for kart to clean, unless you're vs spitfire and then you get kicked in the dick. P2 is the only mon in the entire world that counters pult and ebook without completely cucking my beat up damage. Team is dumb and bad and very funny and you should absolutely use it.

Only regret is not bringing this team more. We eventually felt there was still room for improvement on the structure and wanted to put a fresh spin on it, and after experimenting a lot, we just ended up with Strata > Kart; far better into Venom-E, a little worse against Argh/Camel, gives an actual Flying-type answer but can't overwhelm them the same way as Kart. Here is the stratagem version carlos would have brought w5 if we weren't already out of the tour

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen8cap-637081 - potatochan vs darek, W
I couldn't come up with anything solid for potatochan at the beginning of the week so he ended up landing on this idea himself. I take no credit for building this; the base of this team is a pretty infamous OU squad, and potatochan had the sick and twisted idea of putting a Cawm in the last slot. Generally you'll see Hawlucha, Corv, Reuni, Zam, etc last, so it's very flexible. It looks like cheese but it washed basically everyone in test games and won when it was eventually loaded - honestly, it's more consistent than I'd like to admit.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen8cap-636523 - carlos vs RSQ, W
I had seen a lot of Roak + Chomp builds prior to Week 1 and set out to solve the structure as best I could. Koko is a phenomenal partner, able to pivot Pyroak in on Ferro, Libra, Lando etc while acting as a Flying-type check and Speed control, and the last three are excellent together defensively. Eject Button Pex is to get Pyroak into the game to secure an early lead, min Speed Libra is a cool tech to sort of beat Venomicon; paired with Koko, Haze Pex, etc, I think it works well enough.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen8cap-637944 - jon vs kate, W
I am a massive Spell Tag Pajantom enjoyer and EBelt is a really cool item choice for similar reasons. Moveslot freedom means you can reliably trap and remove Toxapex, Clefable, Landorus-T, and Colo/Raja (with a little chip) better than Spell Tag/CB sets, but your damage output into Steel-types like Corviknight and Ferrothorn is really lackluster as a tradeoff. Can change Iron Tail to Brave Bird for Argh/Buzzwole. Once again we see min Speed Libra as a way of checking Venom, with Toxic Clefable because I try to fit a Toxic user on every team and felt too weak against BU Zera.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen8cap-1617987349 - potatochan vs lydia, W
Incredibly fun squad with a shitton of firepower behind it. Band Pult is almost always worse than Specs but it really helps here to overwhelm Steel-types and it's amusing when people hard switch their AV Torn/Weav/Colo into it. Taunt Rocks Raja keeps em up incredibly well, which is absolutely huge for this team against something like Corv/Pex, while EButton Pex helps get breakers in to start clicking buttons.

So it was around this time that I got really interested in the Skarm+Gastro fat squads that were being spammed a lot in WCoP. I had always thought Astrolotl was secretly incredible on fat teams too, so it felt like a natural pairing. The team itself is actually just a WCoP team with Astro > Koko and some small set changes to accommodate for CAP's different metagame, although this ultimately proved difficult to do. I think fat in CAP faces a lot of issues, with Venom and Pyroak specifically troubling me a lot here; Mirror Coat Gastro helps lure the former (when it works), while Encore + DTail Astro attempts to deal with the latter (copium check). While we got completely botted and loaded into Pyroak sun, in hindsight this team probably wasn't the most consistent from the start.

Screen Shot 2022-09-08 at 5.48.01 PM.png
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen8cap-1624255433 - potatochan vs DLC, L
Potatochan thought sun looked broken into the opponent's scout, and although I didn't have much familiarity with the archetype, I was still capable of stealing an OU team and putting a Pyroak on it (s/o ausma). Potatochan proceeded to make a couple more edits - most notably, putting a DD Dragapult where there was a Tapu Koko before, slotting Wisp on Torkoal to stay in vs. Raja and cripple it (it goes hard against the team otherwise), and going Dragon Pulse on Heatran to lure Dnite/Paj. Sun can feel a bit fishy at times but I think Pyroak helps its consistency a lot and the playstyle remains a strong tournament pick if you're expecting a certain matchup.

Carlos had the idea to rain and I was interested in seeing how good it was post camel. Turns out that it's a pretty hard matchup but I think the archetype is still fine; you have plenty of tools to beat/tech against Saharaja, although a lot of it naturally comes down to just clicking right. Ice Fang Barra for Dnite/Camel (you rarely click anything besides Water STABs anyways), GK Toad for Argh/Gastro/Camel. First 5 are bog standard while the Lele came down to fate:

this team is pretty swaggy
Unironically one of my favorites this tour- partly because of the elephant and building process behind it, but also because it ended up evolving into one of the most consistent teams I've made in a while. This was for jon's series against SHSP, who had admitted prior that D2 had a soulread on him and if he built jon's team then it would probably win on matchup. D2 took this to mean that we should load Copperajah + paraspam because it would tilt him off the face of the earth, so this team was my attempt at that. Unfortunately we passed a fucked up version with double rocks + no spin to jon and lost LOL but marvin put in crazy work, mon is actually a beast

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen8cap-1629634342 - potatochan vs zio, L
This was for potatochan's series vs his friend zio, and we figured he had no idea Chromera learned Final Gamit (we were right) thus 4v4 offense was revived in 2022. Generally you want to build offense with sweepers that share overlapping checks and can break for each other - paperspam HO is a great example of this - but I went into this team with sorta the opposite mindset. This is an obvious oversimplification, but broadly speaking, most BOs/balances will having a structure like speed/breaker/steel/water/ground/flying; I tried to build this team such that if you can guarantee the removal(s) of any of those 6 with your Gambit leads, there should be a sweeper waiting to abuse that absence. Pretty fun balls to the wall HO team, don't load into Ghosts though.

Not much to explain here, just a very standard and solid squad. Toxic on Slowbro to actually beat Saharaja and because the team lacks a Toxic user elsewhere, Colbur is so you can still switch into Weavile and teleport into Shifu/Toxic it. This team desperately wants both Volt Switch and Discharge on Zapdos imo; it's very vulnerable to Venomicon without Discharge, but Volt is better into literally everything else, so choose wisely.

Our opponents had been spamming Corv, Ferro, and this one bad fat Wishpass Jumbao set, so Pyroak was the natural bring. We loaded into exactly what we wanted to and won. Like all older teams with Pyroak, this is a little worse off after the nerf, but still works more or less just fine.

TNM hadn't been having his normal stellar season, but we knew this was still going to be a hard game - we landed on something a little more uptempo utilizing double trappers, as Zone wasn't something we had brought all season and TNM had a lot of trappable Steels. I like this one a lot aside from the base Venom matchup (click x).

I built this squad even before week 1 for Saharaja's team showcase - I tried to get someone on our team to load it but they didn't like it for whatever reason, and I guess the crawlers found it on twitter and thought it was solid lmao s/o to them. Was also used by DLC w2 with a 3/3 winrate, very consistent squad in my eyes

Something that was almost loaded for carlos w4 before deciding against it. I think the issue we had was that Air Balloon Tran as the main Steel is pretty poor (namely into Lele) but overall not a bad team. Trapper Fini is hard to use considering how good its other sets are but is still probably underrated atm

We were going to load this against Micaiah w5 as it preys on a lot of the fat Bao stuff really hard, though we ultimately decided it had bad vibes and the matchup into base Venom was too shaky to be comfortable with. General idea is that Pyroak excels at forcing early trades but can struggle to heal up later, so wish + aroma support is really huge for it (as well as Chomp/Argh which hate being statused)

One of the better Skarm/Gastro fats I had built after a lot of experimentation. I tried to avoid passing CAP-less teams to my players whenever possible, so this wasn't something we got the opportunity to load, but I was fairly happy with it on paper. This kind of team is pretty insulated against opposing hazards so you don't really need removal - at worst, you can force a Defog with your own hazards, while Skarm can up on most spinners anyways. Psychic on Gking to beat Book, Crash>Axel on Weav to avoid bs misses/contact damage over longer games, think everything else is pretty self explanatory.

Yet another product of my interest of stall in CAP. This team could be pretty ass because I've only tested it like once but it seems cool on paper so I thought I'd at least share it; there are a ton of wincons between double Pressure, NP Gking, spikestack/Sticky Barb chip, and ID Corv, ideally providing an out into most matchups while giving an often linear playstyle some extra flexibility. NP Protect Gking is the odd pick here, but I think it's actually quite good as a possible wincon that also helps answer stuff like BU Zera that proves annoying otherwise - having any Regen mon is also just huge for these teams in general. Protect specifically is to avoid FS/DD combo shenanigans, but if you're not paranoid about that like me, you can easily run Slack Off. Trickless Barb Clef is a tech I had seen in OU - the idea is that Clef usually gets knocked at some point anyways, so if you can remove something's item early with Argh and transfer Clef's Barb, it has a ton of longterm benefit compared to other item choices. Again, very untested team, but cool in theory.

This shit is so demonic, I really and truly think TW is a viable playstyle after much testing, building, and theorizing the week that Zio brought this. The Fidgit set ensures you can set TW once per game almost guaranteed, often being able to set it a second time in the endgame which is absolutely huge. Breakers like SD Kart, Beam Necrozma, and to an extent Stratagem that are checked primarily via revenge killing become near impossible to reliably answer under wind, making this team feel super unfair to play against at times. Speed control when wind isn't up is also mandated imo - the Blace was a Scarf HWish Astro at first, but Zio had the idea to make it a Blacephalon which lets up on the gas way less if you need to revenge something, also being a great cleaner itself in the endgame. I experimented with stuff like Pyroak, Crawdaunt, Mamoswine, Diggersby, Melmetal, etc on this archetype and most of them are probably viable - there's a surprising amount of abusers. Give it a shot!

Yeah so this team looks like dogshit LOL (sometimes it is) but it wins way more than it has any right doing. Partly inspired by the sashspam HO and clean's request to build with Aurumoth after I started helping the Saharajas, but eventually took on a life of its own. Lead Bisharp gets em up and is pretty good at forcing early damage on a bulky Steel/Ground, Toxic is to pretend the team has a playable matchup into Arghonaut but you can also just take the L and run an attacking move. Xatu obviously keeps hazards off in the short term but this team doesn't need long to get going. LO Modest Volc is a fucking monster without rocks up, Sash Omastar/Cloyster 6-0 a truly shocking amount of teams by themselves. The real star here is bulky WAPmoth, though - things this set can tank: one Brave Bird from Venom-E (why does it live this), Knock -> -1 Def Shard from Weav, +2 Dstorm from most Saharaja, DIB from Melmetal, and more. This set is relatively easy to deny in a 1v1, but its strength lies more in the ability to hard switch into a super effective move (of which there are many) and get to +2 SpA/+2 Speed for free, able to threaten a kill or further setup immediately after. Truly a sickening amount of cheese in this team.

This is the previously alluded-to favorite of mine that evolved out of jon's Copperajah squad. Baloor was playing w5 and wasn't sure what to bring; I told him jon's Rajah team was secretly incredible, and that he should replace le phant with a Melmetal and run with it. He agreed and made some additional set changes to fit the new team comp better. There are a couple small differences in moves between this version and the one Baloor posted earlier, but you can make some further edits depending on what matchup you're expecting - it's very flexible in that way. This team has been tested a LOT and has a playable matchup into almost anything; easily one of the best teams I've made/helped make this tour and I'll personally be advocating to make it a sample when we update those soon.

Overall I had a lot of fun flexing my building muscles this tour, although it was definitely exhausting at points. Will probably do a lower effort teamdump for ORAS at some point in the future. I'm glad I got the opportunity to keep helping out the Rajas after my own team was out too - some of the more fun teams I've built were made during that period and it was great to be a part of your incredible well-deserved victory. S/o to all my teammates for telling me whenever something looked ass and still being on board with some of the crazier ideas, you're the best quality control I could hope for.

Dropping two of my favourite teams I built during the course of the season, definitely had a lot of fun experimenting with a lot of things this time around and even though my record is atrocious this might still be the most fun team I've been on yet!

This team is centered around Saharaja and Naviathan breaking for eachother so the other can sweep in the lategame. SD Spin Saharaja does exactly what you'd expect of it. AV Torn-T is here to provide Knock Off and a reliable pivot into a lot of special threats, while being EVd to still take a +6 Bullet Punch from Cawmodore after rocks. Seeing how Saharaja was almost surely going to be brought a lot in week 1, I added Buzzwole to deal with it, with Toxic providing an extra way to put it on a timer in case of multiple defense boosts, or to catch a stray Zapdos or Slowbro for Naviathan. Heatran used to be an Astrolotl, but we decided rocks were more valuable than Spikes on this team. Koko's sole purpose on the team is to deal with things that might wall Saharaja and Naviathan, mainly Slowbro and Arghonaut, with Nature's Madness putting heavy chip damage on the likes of Ferrothorn and opposing Saharaja/Landorus-T. DD Guts Naviathan is just a menace once its checks are even slightly chipped.

Bulky Choice Band TTar sets sand for Excadrill and Torn and deals with Pyroak, while also doing numbers on the enemy team when it gets in. Drill provides hazard removal and can sweep in the lategame. Weather Ball Torn-T goes hard if it ever gets a Nasty Plot off because public enemy number one Zapdos gets obliterated by it. Arghonaut can deal with the likes of Weavile, Syclant, Saharaja and Garchomp and provides useful Spikes and Knock support. Glowking walls pretty much every special mon in the tier and also provides Future Sight for the team to capitalize off of (can be switched for Psychic if you hate Venomicon-E). Melm rounds out the team nicely with its great bulk and breaking power.

I built a lot more teams over the course of the season but most of them are really bad and should not see the light of day.

I built this week 1 cause we got haxed really hard and decided we should hax someone back in the shittiest way possible (this was never intended to be brought for real). Simply paralyze and flinch your way to victory, 100% guarantee :)
