CAP 32 So Far

-----

We've had a discussion of movesets, which identified the competitive movesets we intend to be the most viable in standard CAP play. Please see the concluding post in that thread, as well as the following poll, for more information on those movesets.

The following rules apply to all Movepool Submissions:

  • The movepool can contain a maximum of 75 total moves. You may have less than or equal to 75 moves, but not more.
  • All movepools must have all the Mandatory Moves listed below.
  • No movepool may contain any of the Banned Moves listed below.
  • Any move not listed as Banned is provisionally allowed, but may require a legality check if it has competitive implications.
  • The Movepool Leader shnowshner and Topic Leader spoo may add Banned moves during the course of this thread. If that happens, there will be ample notification in the thread, and you will have the opportunity to remove those moves from your movepool prior to final submissions.

As described in this PRC thread, we will be creating movepools for both the pre-evolutions and the final evolution together. When submitting, you must submit three sections, one for each pre-evo and one for the final evo.

You will need to submit a clear evolution method when creating a movepool. This can be via level up or other more esoteric means, but please give it a good reason for whatever you choose.

Final Movepool Submissions must include all of these moves, and they cannot be Event Moves. Submissions that don't have all these moves will not be considered for slating.

Bitter Blade
Bulk Up
Double-Edge
Draining Kiss
Endure
Explosion
Extreme Speed
Facade
Fire Blast
Fire Lash
Flamethrower
Flare Blitz
Moonblast
Moonlight
Protect
Psychic
Psyshock
Rest

Spikes

Take Down
Taunt
Tera Blast
Thunder
Thunderbolt
Wild Charge
Will-O-Wisp

These moves are banned from inclusion in Final Submissions. Movepools that include any of these moves will not be considered for slating.

This list is subject to minor changes along the course of the thread.

The following moves are all banned:

Growth
Heat Crash
Lumina Crash
Nuzzle
Parting Shot
Rapid Spin
Strength Sap
Torch Song
Volt Tackle
Knock Off

In addition, the following are banned:
  • All legendary signature moves
  • Any move that is unusable in Scarlet/Violet, a full list of which can be found here.

Note that any move which is competitively inferior to a mandatory move is allowed as an exception to the bans above unless explicitly stated otherwise. This includes things such a weaker versions of mandatory STAB and coverage moves.

Below is the Gen 8 Movepool style guide, which may be helpful to look at when constructing your movepool. Adhering to it is not mandatory.

Gen 8 brought many changes to the CAP process both in terms of competitive and flavour considerations. One of the most significant changes that came about was the standardization of level-up and egg movepools for the Pokémon present in Sword and Shield. As a result of the CAP Prevo Updates, all CAP Pokémon had their Gen 8 movepools edited to conform to the criteria below. You can find the complete movepools here. It is strongly recommended that you consult these movepools before submitting.

• Level-up movepools always have moves occur at regular intervals of 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 except for L1 with some Legendary Pokémon having larger gaps.

• The only exception is where if a move would be learnt at the minimum level for a Pokémon to evolve it will sometimes be allowed to move one level later.

• Level-up movepools never contain moves that can be learnt as egg moves

• Attacking moves are learnt in order of base power. It is suggested that submitters provide a clear explanation for why any attacking moves are positioned out of sequence.

• The only consistent exceptions are evolution moves, variable power moves and multi-hit moves, the latter two of which use their maximum and average hits respectively for their placement in the learnset.

• Trapping moves are occasionally treated as having a base power that factors multiple turns of damage and as such may be seen at both the beginning and end of movepools.

• OHKO moves, Counter, Mirror Coat and Metal Burst tend to be placed towards the end of a Pokémon's learnset.

• For evolved Pokémon, the first four moves listed in the pre-evolution's level-up movepool are always listed in the same order but at level 1 instead of their corresponding level

• For evolved Pokémon all other moves that a pre-evolution would learn prior to the minimum level for evolution are always listed at the same level, unless they have been replaced with another move, in which case they must be placed with the other relearner moves at Level 1 before the first four moves in the learnset.

• For evolved Pokémon that evolve by level-up all new moves learned after evolution occur at intervals (2) larger than the pre-evolution

• In the case of dual stage Pokémon this occurs a second time for each stage, meaning that with a pre-evolution having intervals of 3, the middle stage will have 5, and the final evolution 7

• For Pokémon that evolve by Trade, Item or Happiness all moves are always learnt at the same level intervals as their pre-evolutions

• For Pokémon that evolve by Stone all moves are always learnt either at the same level intervals as their pre-evolutions or all moves are learnt at level 1

• For Pokémon that have not evolved only two level 1 moves may be learnt.

• It is suggested that one be an attacking move and the other a status move although this is not required.

• Pseudo-Legendary and Legendary Pokémon are the only Pokémon to consistently learn moves after level 70. It is strongly recommended that submitters are able to justify their choice in including moves above level 70 by looking at similar existing Pokémon.

• Moves that appear in either the level-up or TM/TR sections cannot be included in the Egg move stage.

• An egg move must be able to be passed on through the breeding group of Pokémon eligible to be caught and carry the move in Sword and Shield

• If an egg move can only legally be passed by another CAP Pokémon it will not be considered valid

• The general recommended number of egg moves in Gen 8 is between 3 and 6. It is suggested that submitters provide a clear explanation for why more than that number will be necessary.

• Draco Meteor and Steel Beam are mandatory for Dragon and Steel-types respectively unless they only gain the respective types as in-battle forme changes

• Certain IoA type tutor moves have relatively strict distributions. It is strongly recommended that submitters are able to justify their choice in tutor moves by looking at similar existing Pokémon.

While this is a submission thread, discussion on Work-In-Progress (WIP) and Final Submissions is encouraged so the community can make an informed decision during the polling stage.

Final Submission Post

Only make one (1) final submission post. If you wish to alter any aspect of your final submission, then edit your post. Do not make a new one, even if you delete your original post. Any deleting and re-posting will be treated as bumping and is subject to moderation.

All final submission posts must conform to the following format:
  • The first line of the post must have the words "Final Submission" in bold on its own line. No other text may be included before the bold heading.
  • A blank line
  • A brief explanation of the entire movepool (optional)
  • A series of spoiler tags containing move learn sources, with required moves in bold and repeated moves in italics:
  • A list of 1 - 3 evolution moves. (Optional, if applicable.)
  • A list in the form "#: move", where "#" is a number from 1 to 100 representing the level the Pokemon learns a move.
  • A brief explanation of the moves learned this way.
The list of level-up moves should be ordered from 1 to 100, ascending.
  • A list of moves.
  • A brief explanation of the moves learned this way.
The list of moves should be alphabetized.
  • "Egg group(s): " followed by 1 - 2 egg groups for that Pokemon.
  • An empty list of egg moves, if the egg group is "Undiscovered".
  • A list of the form "move: (parent Pokemon)", if the egg group is NOT "Undiscovered". "Parent Pokemon" is at least one parent that can breed the move onto the Pokemon. The list of parents can be shortened if there are many possible parents.
  • A brief explanation of the moves learned this way.
The list of egg moves should be alphabetized.
  • A list of the form "TM###: move", where the TM number corresponds to the TM for the current generation.
  • A brief explanation of the moves learned this way.
The list of TM moves should be ordered by TM order.

Most three-stage Baby Pokémon have at most 8 moves, so here we are. I decided on a lvl 3, same as Azurill, as this is the first stage of a three-line of Gen IX, which a third of nine is...y'know.
Reasoning:
Flail/Disarming Voice/Covet: Taken from Bonsly, Happiny and Igglybuff.
Helping Hand: Found on cute mons like Azurill and Eevee.
Moonlight: I felt this was a bit more natural for it to be learnt via lvl up, for dex reasons (which I'll probably rely on for other moves below)
Draining Kiss: Most Fairy babies get Sweet Kiss; I just gave it the other kiss because Ababo doesn't sleep.
Curse: This was a Brick Joke from discord discussions, where Drifbloom had an dex entry involving cholesterol, which I said was feastible if it got Curse. Joke reason aside, it's also a reference with leukemia, here manifested as overproduction of white blood cell (increased strength) that reduced effectiveness of the other. (increased fatigue)
Egg Group(s): No Eggs Discovered
Acid Armor (Grimer, Grimer-Alola, Gulpin, Shellos)
Explosion (Drifloon line)
Parabolic Charge (Dedenne)
Baby Pokémon are by default required to be in this group for obvious reasons. Actual reasonings regarding moves will be found in Scattervein's Egg moves.

TM127: Play Rough
TM130: Helping Hand
TM139: Misty Terrain
TM147: Wild Charge
TM171: Tera Blast
Reasonings:
Agility/Flame Charge: I gave up trying to write an entry about crackling pitter-patter as it dashes around, so I slotted it in here as a remenant of that idea.
Low Sweep: I get that it has stubby legs, but if even Psyduck can learn it, so can Ababo.
Reflect/Light Screen: While my dex entries didn't win, I'm keeping it as a remnant of that idea, which envisioned Ababo as a sort of household deity, meant for protection. Also explains learning of other Psychic moves this early.
Dazzling Gleam/Play Rough: Standard Fairy moves.
Sunny Day: While my dex entries didn't win, I'm keeping it as a remnant of that idea, where Ababo lightens up the day of depressed Trainers - literally!
Misty Terrain: In remembrance of IceNovice4136's Misty Surge HA sub, as it's the only one that prevents status.
Wild Charge: A reference to pacemaker cells, because we didn't get Electromorphosis as a Flavour Ability.

Evolves from Stage 1 by lvl up with high friendship/Trade whilst holding a Heart Scale

Added moves associated with Chansey, those being Life Dew, Protect, Pain Split (I intially chose Wish, but then realized how many CAP mons get Wish and decided on an alternative) Heal Pulse and of course, Seismic Toss. The level up levels, following the theme of Gen IX, after Ababo's moves, are four moves at 4 levels and three moves with 5 levels gaps, because Gen VIII is over and now we transition to Gen IX.
Onto required moves, after Charge(see Wild Charge's reasoning above), I put in a pattern of Fire move -> Healing move -> Ramming move, sandwiched with Uproar (arrhythmia) and Moonblast; Spirtzee initally learnt Moonblast at lvl 31, so its not that early.
Most baby mons also evolve when they have high friendship levels, so that was easy. I also made an alternative evolution like Feebas just for the sake of it; yes, Feebas has two evolution methods, yes, both result in Milotic, no, it is sadly illegal and will be as unpopular and complicated for most players who don't do Contests.
Egg Group(s): Amorphous, Fairy
Acid Armor (Grimer, Grimer-Alola, Gulpin, Shellos)
Explosion (Drifloon line)
Parabolic Charge (Dedenne)
It's in the Amorphous Egg Group like Swalot, Duosion and Lampert, where I'm also tying in Acid Armor and Explosion. Fairy Egg Group makes a bit more sense and grants access to Parabolic Charge, a HP-draining move that's for CPR references, because Double Shock would be a waste of a move to give. For people asking why I'm not using Mirror Herbs, my rationale is the same as Wulf's - there's a chance for Mirror Herb to be removed by Game Freak unless it'll a viable competitive item.

Reasonings:
Scary Face: Between this and Charm, as we kept Intimidate - Scary Face currently stands out. Because, to quote Bice on discord: 'i mean I'd be spooked if i saw a walking circle of willis', and explains why the line wants affection, since it literally does not know how to get it!
Low Kick: Its legs are more developed now.
Acid Spray: Mimicking the act of throwing up blood. I don't get why people go for Water moves than Poison, I doubt unprocessed blood is sanitary...
Fire Spin: Circulating warm plasma.
False Swipe: It's not heartless. *Insert distant drum and cymbal*
Foul Play: It's still a Fairy-type, Fairies play dirty. Plus, with that body?
Body Slam: More mass to hit you.
Fire/Thunder/Drain Punch: It now has appendages to hit you with.
Metronome: Woblin Hoblin.
Rest/Sleep Talk: Ababo didn't get the combo for two reasons - one to reinforce the idea of blood cells are always at work, and that those who don't have the combo are the first stage of their lines. Now that Scattervein has developed a bit more, it's also learnt to rest.
Giga Drain: Another HP-draining move that was surprisingly not vetoed.
Overheat: Growing up is stressful, and combining in Heat Wave to vent.

Evolves from Scattervein by being exposed to a Fire Stone whilst being burned.
I'm a fan of unique evolution methods, and since Hemogoblin is a heartburn creature, I found it fitting for it to evolve whilst being burnt. Lvl up is overdone and boring, no one rly likes time mechanics, and since we just had our first Stone Evolution in Saharaja, might as well keep up the streak.

Taunt: It snapped.

Ababo is in the No Eggs Discovered egg group because it's a baby Pokémon. Most baby Pokémon evolve into members of either the Fairy or Human-Like egg group; Ababo's evolutions are in both groups.

Evolves from Scattervein by trading while holding Charcoal.

The number of level-up moves and the level at which they are learned is based on the Blissey line.

Level-up methods are also inspired by the Blissey line, but reversed, evolving first by happiness and then by item. Out of the Pokémon that use held items to evolve, only three gain a type upon evolution, and two of those three (Onix and Scyther) evolve by trading while holding the item which boosts the power of moves of their new type, so Charcoal seemed like the best choice for an evolution item.

Extreme Speed (Lucario)

I chose Fairy egg group for obvious reasons. Since both Scattervein and Hemogoblin are bipeds with arms (or at least something resembling arms), they also fit in the Human-Like egg group.

Hemogoblin's movepool consists primarily of the required moves, plus assorted other Normal, Fairy, and Fire moves. I also added a few Pulse (as in heartbeat) moves for flavor.

Scattervein does not learn any TMs above 100 base power, but otherwise has the same movepool as Hemogoblin.

Ababo has a very limited movepool; like Happiny, it only learns 7 moves by level-up and 26 by TM. It also has much more limited coverage options than its evolutions; all of its damaging attacks are Normal, Fairy, or Psychic type.

So in terms of moves this is fairly standard, as for the levels I based the move pool on Toxel because both are baby pokemon and both are level up evolutions (for this move pool at least), the other three level up evos that are babies all have the same move pools as their evolution(s) or the same move pool -1 move, Toxel on the other had only gets 6 moves, all at level one, this felt like the better approach to go for this little guy because it dosen't look like it'd have a wide move pool in the slightest while the second stage has more room to work with.

Egg Group: No Eggs Discovered
Acid Armor (Mirror Herb)
Boomburst (Mirror Herb)
Explosion (Mirror Herb)
Extreme Speed (Mirror Herb)
Heal Pulse (Mirror Herb)
Moonlight (Mirror Herb)

Baby Pokemon generally can't have eggs, as for the moves having espeed, explosion and boomburst be egg moves made more sense to me than being level up, kinda same case for moonlight but I wanted the first stage to have healing because it's a red blood cell but it being a level up move didn't make sense to me, Similar case for Heal Pluse but as flavor. I also wanted to include acid armor but I couldn't fit it in the level up move pool for hemo so I threw it in here, there are other pokemon with acid armor as an egg move so it works.

Now while Toxel only gets 6 level up moves it does get 2 TMs that aren't universal so I didn't limit myself with this. I didn't really want to give the first stage too much in terms of coverage as many baby pokemon don't get a lot of coverage but I did want to include all the standard stabs like Dazzling Gleam and Play Rough. Sunny Day is one that may seem odd but a lot of pokemon get it with no real reasoning and in this case it alludes to Hemogoblin's fire type.

Evolves at level 30

So as mentioned earlier I based the evolution requirement on other baby pokemon that evolve through only level (sorry tyrouge) the thing all 4 of them have in common is they all evolve at level 30, and as for why I went level and not another requirement the designs don't seem like a friendship evolution and they don't look like they'd have a special retirement so from their level up is the only option. Now for the moves, they're nothing special except for water gun which I included as flavor with the image of an organ squirting a mysterious fluid out, the second stages noodle limbs look like they'd be able to use knock off like bellsproute, deoxys and tangrowth, slam and double hit which is why those are there while flame charge hints at hemogoblin and flamethrower makes sense from the perspective of the flames coming out the noodle limbs (plus if skuntank can learn flamethrower through level up a pokemon that becomes file type should have no problem learning the move). Zen headbutt might seem odd considering that the second stage doesn't have much of a head to butt with but the move's description makes it seem like it wouldn't be a problem.

Egg Groups: Amorphous, Fairy
Acid Armor (Swalot, Gastrodon)
Boomburst (Mirror Herb)
Explosion (Drifblim)
Extreme Speed (Mirror Herb)
Heal Pulse (Blissey, Gardivoir, Hatternene, Clefable, Wigglytuff, Indeedee)
Moonlight (Clefable)

I chose Amorphous and Fairy with Hemogoblin in mind, but I feel like both still work with this stage, Fairy is kinda obvious and if Gardivore, Eelektross and Frilish can be in the Amorphous egg group so can this creature. I also decided to make good use of the mirror herb with Boomburst, then I was forced to use it again because Togekiss isn't in SV to pass Espeed (maybe if it gets in dlc but for now it'll just have to be mirror herb). As for Explosion and Moonlight other pokemon already have them as egg moves so it works here where it doesn't really make sense for these to be level up moves. Then Heal Pulse is nice for flavor and other similar pokemon already have it as an egg move.

So my first step with this list was to take all the required moves that don't make too much sense on hemogoblin and give them to this guy because if they don't have a good reason to be on hemogoblin (flavor-wise) then there's no reason the second stage can't get them too, it also helps make this stage's move pool closer to hemogoblin's which matches electabuzz and magmar as both have very close move pools to their final evolutions. As for some moves that might need explanations water puls is flavor in the same vein as water gun, acid spray is also flavor, chilling water both fits with the other water moves and it's not too strong as to affect match ups too much, even in cases where the attack drop might be wanted will-o-wisp would be better, U-turn is to give physical sets a pivoting move plus other mixed attackers like eelektross have both so it fits, misty terrain is flavor, if quaquaval can learn it then theres no reason to not give it to hemogoblin.

Evolves when exposed to a Fire Stone

So the fire stone evolution method makes a lot of sense here with how the line only gains the fire type in the final evo, but what you may be wondering is why I structured the move pool the way I did, and to that I point to my main base for this move pool, scovillain, a stone evo and a fellow fire type that evolves from a non-fire type, but even out side of scovillain all the stone evos from the past 3 gens have followed this path of having the same move pool as their pre-evo, (cetitan, belibolt, vickavolt, crabominable and galarian darmanitan). Now onto the moves themselves I chose fiery dance and fire lash to be evolution moves because both work well in that spot and they mirror each other in a way with both having the same base power, both us the opposing attack stat and one raises sp. attack while the other lowers defense, in both case this raises how much damage Hemo can do to the enemy, then I replaced slam with lava plume because slam, while still working on Hemogoblin, makes more sense on the pre-evo and lava plume need to be somewhere in the level up pool because that's the only way it can be learned, then for bitter blade, currently the only pokemon that learns it learns it through level up so putting it in hemo's level up pool makes sense while I put it at a later level than in ceruledge's move pool because it's ceruledge's signature so it gets a sort of early accesses, I put it at the same level as Moonblast similar to how scovillian gets overheat at the same level as solar beam while capsakid only gets solar beam at that level (And I didn't have anything I could easily remove).

Egg Groups: Amorphous, Fairy
Acid Armor (Swalot, Gastrodon)
Boomburst (Mirror Herb)
Explosion (Drifblim)
Extreme Speed (Mirror Herb)
Heal Pulse (Blissey, Gardivoir, Hatternene, Clefable, Wigglytuff, Indeedee)

It's just the same, for an explanation of the moves look at the previous two egg move sections.

Opted to go a little light with this one. Not going overboard with coverage yet, not even to the extent of the other babies (i.e. Cleffa and Igglybuff getting moves like Shadow Ball and Flamethrower) because I like the idea of having a simple, bare-bones movepool to match our feeble design. In particular, I chose to go off of the Fletchling model by holding off on major Fire moves until the later stages.

Evolves via Fire Stone.

Took inspiration from the level-up movepools and structures of several different second-stage Pokemon, particularly Fire-types like Monferno and offensively inclined Pokemon like Haunter, Pikachu, and Zweilous. Because I went the Fire Stone route, I modeled my Stage 2 and 3 level-up movepools most closely after the Growlithe line.

Egg groups: Human-Like, Fairy
Extreme Speed (:lucario:)
Life Dew (:blissey:, :gardevoir:, :lucario:, :hatterene:)
Bitter Blade (:ceruledge:)
Misty Terrain (:gardevoir:, :wigglytuff:, :hatterene:, :florges:, :grimmsnarl:)

I felt Human-Like was a great fit for a Pokemon based on an anatomically human body part. More importantly, it lets us call on Lucario and Ceruledge to give us our most important moves, as Espeed and Bitter Blade don't make enough sense flavor-wise to include in our level-up movepool. Life Dew and Misty Terrain are filler, cool for flavor as life-sustaining liquid makes sense for a heart and Misty Terrain makes sense for a fairy.

The structure I used here is engineered after the level-up progression used for Pokemon that evolve from stones, particularly Arcanine and Togekiss. This is where I buy fully into the Fire typing and introduce Fire Lash as an evolution move to show that it is a unique part of Hemo's kit as opposed to its preevos (similar to how Alolan Raichu learns Psychic upon evolution). Fire Blast makes its debut here as well, mostly for flavor. Explosion stays at its normal level to functionally remain our final move (like how Arcanine-H is withheld from learning Raging Fury until level 64 despite most of its kit being at level 1).

Evolves from Scattervein when leveled while knowing a Fire-type move (Fire Lash at 32)

Evolution TLDR:
Ababo Evolves into Scattervein when leveled up with high friendship, and Scattervein evolves into Hemogoblin when leveled up while knowing a Fire-Type move (Fire Lash at level 32)

Justifications:
Ababo is considered a Baby Pokémon, so it follows the same conventions (7 moves learned every 4 levels). Since heartburn is caused by acid reflux, I opted to give Scattervein and Hemogoblin the moves Acid Spray, Gastro Acid, and Acid Armor. Fire Lash is fitting for the noodle-armed Scattervein, so I made the evolution method similar to Sylveon: requiring it know a Fire type move when leveled up.

The general idea for the movepool was to structure it as though the stage 1 was a baby and the final stage like a gen 4 evolution given the sub 100 BST increase.

I started with Stage 1 and looked at Happiny, Igglybuff, and Cleffa for the general structure. All 3 used the "every 4 levels" structure that stopped at level 20, and all had significant move overlap. Namely Copycat and Pound as level 1 moves, Sweet Kiss at level 8, Disarming Voice at level 12, and Charm at level 20. With so many similarities, it just made sense to inherit those traits too. Since the stage 1 art is based on a white blood cell, I decided to use Defense Curl and Disable as the last two moves to round out the movepool. This makes the level-up pool identical to Igglybuff's.

Next, I created a list of TMs I knew I would want to give Hemogoblin. I started this process by taking the master TM list and bolding all the required moves. From there, I then looked at Chansey, Wigglytuff, and Clefable to get an idea for the types of moves that would make sense on another blob fairy. I slowly removed and kept moves based on relevant movepool trends. For example, Moonblast is a required move. All pokemon that learn Moonblast know Dazzling Gleam, so it was kept because of existing movepool trends. Given the recent legality check provided by spoo, it seemed easier to avoid move types that impacted current matchups since I didn't want to have to break move conventions.

I copied this list and worked backwards removing additional moves from the earlier stages. For example, the only non-fire-type pokemon that get access to Flare Blitz are Arceus, Fletchling, Koraidon, Mew, and Slither Wing. With few non-legendary exceptions, Flare Blitz was removed for the TM list for the earlier stages. I heavily relied on the TM lists of the Chansey and Jigglypuff lines to inform these choices. For example, Psyshock appearing on the Stage 2 but not the Stage 1 is similar to the movepool changes of Igglybuff to Jigglypuff.

With the TMs list complete, I then moved forward to the Stage 2 level-up pool. This also used the "every 4 levels" structure. Knowing that Double-Edge was a required move, I decided to once again use the Chansey and Jigglypuff lines for inspiration. Echoed Voice, Life Dew, and Double-Edge are all because of the blob fairy move overlap. I then wanted to add more whip-like moves to match the more noodly appendages the Stage 2 has. Knock Off, Wrap, Tail Whip, Brutal Swing, Tickle, and Slam all fit this motif nicely. I then slotted Moonlight and Moonblast just to get a few more required moves out of the way. Finally, I added some throw away status moves to finish the pool.

With the number of signature fire-type moves that can only be slotted in the level-up pool, I opted to make Hemogoblin a stone evolution movepool. It allowed me to slot these moves into the level-up pool with greater ease without have to force additional move levels. Bitter Blade was set to the Evolution move since it was the most out of place flavorwise. Fire Lash fit the whip moves flavor previously established for the Stage 2.

I originally wanted to avoid overly relying on Mirror Herb to justify egg move additions. Should the mechanic be unexpectedly retired for any reason, having potential parents for these moves gives them a greater chance to be retained in future generations. After some feedback, I changed both the Stage 2 and final Evolution to be a part of the Monster egg group. In terms of general body shape, Monster group Pokemon are commonly bipedal with large tails and claws. Hemogoblin and its 2nd Stage are both bipedal creatures with tail-like appendages and clawed feet. Hemogoblin also has similar characteristics to other Pokemon currently in the egg group such as Lickilicky and Exploud. Should Turtonator return, there is a parent for Explosion. I also put both Pokemon in the Fairy egg group since many Pokemon in the group appear to be mostly a head with arms and legs in terms of body shape. This is moreso true of Hemogoblin since it is similar in body shape to Clefable, Wigglytuff, and Chansey. Being in the Fairy group also gives a parent for Extreme Speed should Togekiss return. Seismic Toss was added since I had based the movepool on other pink blobs (Blissey learns the move this way). Lastly, Wish is there cause I like the move.

I used all 75 moves available to submitters to mirror the movepool bloat of other blob fairies. Before post-play lookback, I had used all 75 moves to imitate the movepool bloat of other blob fairies. After the removals imposed by the PPL (and some edits), I now have 71 moves.

As for evolution methods, the baby evolves when leveled up with high friendship like most other baby Pokemon. I succumbed to the peer presure of the Fire Stone evolution. It matches how Capsakid gains the fire typing when evolving into Scovillain, and maintains the desire to have the stone evolution movepool.

Went over these legality checks with shnowshner, here's what we're feeling.

First, to everyone who's submitting a final movepool, please include Overheat in it. Unfortunately this move just slipped through the cracks during the Movesets stage. Every fully evolved Fire-type Pokemon learns Overheat except for Oricorio, so we should be learning this as well.

Approved
Trick
- only has potential to be used on specs sets where it won't be very good anyways
Dark Pulse - this is questionable flavor to me but competitively irrelevant, it gets a pass
Dragon Pulse - the only fairies that learn dragon pulse are Arceus (lol) and Mega Altaria, but poor flavor aside, this is competitively harmless
Water Pulse - debated this one a bit, but I think it's too weak to justify using without Tera Water and at that point Tera Blast is the better option
Chilling Water - competitively irrelevant
Acid Spray - competitively irrelevant
Foul Play - competitively irrelevant
Body Slam - surprised this didn't make it in already tbh
Hyper Voice - same as above
Grass Knot - while strong Grass coverage hits some of our counterplay for a lot of damage, neutral Boomburst still does more, so this is an inferior option competitively speaking
Giga Drain - harmless
Flame Charge - harmless
Solar Beam - harmless (same reasoning as Grass Knot) and limited to sun
Hyper Beam - competitively irrelevant
Misty Terrain - competitively irrelevant
Skill Swap - competitively irrelevant
Trailblaze - competitively irrelevant
Mud-Slap - it's Ground-type coverage, which we're trying to avoid, but it is also a very useless move
Life Dew - competitively irrelevant
Confuse Ray - competitively irrelevant as long as I don't have to play versus it
Parabolic Charge - competitively irrelevant
Flash Cannon - strong move but this doesn't really affect counterplay
Memento - sure
Curse - worse Bulk Up, sure
Self-Destruct - worse Explosion, sure
Acid Armor - don't see this one being good
Stored Power - would be broken but we don't have any special boosting options outside of Fiery Dance
Disable - competitively irrelevant
Wish - this mon already gets reliable 50% recovery and wouldn't be a great wishpasser regardless, seems harmless

Denied
"Extreme Speed self-breeding"
- CAPs can't have egg moves with parents that are exclusively CAPs
Encore - many OU set-up sweepers utilize Encore to great success, denying this
Trick Room - Hemo is already proving decent on TR atm and the archetype doesn't need any further tools
Hydro Pump - highly competitive addition that would invalidate some of our best counterplay
Terrain Pulse - signature to Arboliva line
Thunder Wave - we feel this has too great a risk to mess with our checks & counters
Gunk Shot - screws with opposing Hemogoblin and the ability to spread poison is deceptively strong
Sludge Bomb - same as above
Calm Mind - absolutely not, this is easily one of the strongest competitive additions to consider handing out
Bulldoze - breaks past some of our checks
Aura Sphere - breaks past some of our checks

Requesting Legality Checks for Double Hit, Slam, U-Turn, Water Gun, Sunny Day and Amnesia.
I forgot to include these in my original request :(

Following the popular "stage 1 is a baby" logic, I've given it just 7 moves which are learned early, similar to babies like Pichu and Happiny. Moves are simple and mostly weak, with multiple Fairy moves because it's a Fairy type.

Ababo evolves into Scattervein by leveling up with high happiness, which is the same method as most of the other baby Pokemon.

Egg Group(s): Undiscovered
Explosion (Drifblim)
Extreme Speed (Mirror Herb)
Heal Pulse (Blissey, Wigglytuff)
Wish (Flabébé)
Life Dew (Blissey, Gardevoir)
Recover (Gastrodon)

It's a baby so it's in the No Eggs / Undiscovered group. I kind of like how it fits into how real red blood cells can't reproduce themselves either, they must be produced by other body parts. Reasoning for these will be in the other stages' sections.

Ababo's TM list is even shorter than Scattervein's list, lacking Psybeam and Bulk up along with some stronger options like Shadow Ball and Hyper Voice because it's just a baby.

Scattervein gains a lot of moves past its baby level up, like Pikachu, Chansey, and Jigglypuff compared to their babies. It has access to the stronger Fairy attacks because it's a Fairy Type, and a few Fire moves as a reference to its final stage as well as its evolution method. I imagine Scattervein using Fire Lash by whipping opponents with its long appendages. Bulk Up and Harden are a reference to hardening arteries i.e. atherosclerosis. Psybeam is a hint at the Psychic moves it will learn in its final stage.

Scattervein evolves into Hemogoblin by leveling up while knowing a Fire-type move. This is like Eevee evolving into Sylveon by leveling up while knowing a Fairy-type move. This fits as it goes from a pure Fairy to a Fairy/Fire type Hemogoblin, and Scattervein would evolve by having Fire Lash, Flamethrower, or Sunny Day in its moveset.

Egg Group(s): Amorphous / Fairy
Explosion (Drifblim)
Extreme Speed (Mirror Herb)
Heal Pulse (Blissey, Wigglytuff)
Wish (Flabébé)
Life Dew (Blissey, Gardevoir)
Recover (Gastrodon)

The Hemogoblin line fits into the Fairy egg group similar to Wigglytuff and Blissey, Ababo is kind of like a sprite/pixie, Scattervein is like a derpy/funny pixie, and Hemogoblin is goblin-like, similar to the Grimmsnarl line. Amorphous is because Hemogoblin in particular is similar to other blob-shaped Pokemon like Swalot, Muk, and Gastrodon. Reasoning for the moves will be in Hemogoblin's section.

Hemogoblin gains a Fire typing so I felt that learning a Fire move upon evolving made sense, as many other Pokemon that add/change types do. I chose Lava Plume as Hemogoblin looks like it can blow flames out of its multiple orifices. Bitter Blade is in a similar vein, but fits a bit as a kind of reference to a person with a "bitter heart" being angry or resentful. Maybe Hemogoblin resents all the people and Pokemon who liked bullying it as a baby Ababo, and now it lashes out with its sharp arterial appendage? Boomburst fits for Hemogoblin to learn as it could be like a loud, booming heart beat. As for adding Fire Blast and Flare Blitz near the end of the last stage's level up, it's an uncommon occurrence but it can happen, especially when there is a type change between the stages; for example, Dragalge gets Outrage added onto the end of Skrelp's level up, Lokix gets several strong moves of various types (Throat Chop, Bounce, Axe Kick) added near the end of Nymble's level up, and so on.

Egg Group(s): Amorphous / Fairy
Explosion (Drifblim)
Extreme Speed (Mirror Herb)
Heal Pulse (Blissey, Wigglytuff)
Wish (Flabébé)
Life Dew (Blissey, Gardevoir)
Recover (Gastrodon)

Heal Pulse is here because pulses relate to heart beat, it isn't a TM, and cells can repair one another. Recover is described as "the user regenerates its cells" which is fitting because this line is based on cells. Life Dew because cells are considered the basic unit of life as we know it, also similar to Heal Pulse as a healing/repairing others move. Wish refers to “wishing with all your heart” for something to come true. Explosion is here as cells can undergo apoptosis, aka programmed cell death, where they destroy themselves. Extreme Speed isn't learned by any other Amorphous or Fairy Pokemon, and flavorwise doesn't really fit anywhere else, so it is a Mirror Herb egg move.

TM list contains all the required Psychic and Electric moves, and most of the other Fire/status ones too. Electric moves make flavor sense because hearts function through electrical impulses. Dark Pulse is also a pulse move, fits with the idea of someone having a dark or evil heart. I omitted Dragon Pulse because it doesn't have the "emotional" flavor of Dark Pulse. Eerie Impulse is there because even though few non-Electric types can learn it, it still fits with the heart/pulse flavor.

So in terms of moves this is a fairly standard movepool, but for the levels I based the movepool on Toxel because Toxel is our most modern example of a baby pokemon and it fits the most with what I want to do with scattervein, being making ababo evolve from it by level. The other three level up evos that are babies all have the same movepools as their evolution(s) or the same movepool -1 move, Toxel on the other hand only gets 6 moves, all at level one, this felt like the better approach to go for this little guy because I didn't want to give it a big movepool as ababo seems very limited in what it could do, this also gives me more room to work with for scattervein while still fitting into the archetype I'm going for with this line.

Egg Group: No Eggs Discovered
Acid Armor (Mirror Herb)
Explosion (Mirror Herb)
Extreme Speed (Mirror Herb)
Heal Pulse (Mirror Herb)
Moonlight (Mirror Herb)

Baby Pokemon generally can't have eggs so the egg groups must be saved for scattervein, as for the moves having espeed and explosion being egg moves made more sense to me than being level up, kinda same case for moonlight but I wanted the first stage to have healing because it's a red blood cell but it being a level up move didn't make sense to me, Similar case for Heal Pluse but as pure flavor. I also wanted to include acid armor but I couldn't fit it in the level up movepool for hemo so I threw it in here, there are other pokemon with acid armor as an egg move so it works.

Sunny Day may seem odd but a lot of pokemon get it with no real reasoning and in this case it alludes to Hemogoblin's fire type.

Evolves at level 30

I based the evolution requirement on other baby pokemon that evolve through only level (sorry tyrouge) the thing all 4 of them have in common is they all evolve at level 30, and as for why I went level and not another requirement was that the designs in my opinion don't seem like they'd fit the other methods, particularly friendship as there's a specific vibe friendship pokemon give off and ababo doesn't have it. Now for the moves, they're nothing special except for water gun which I included as flavor with the image of an organ squirting a fluid out in my head. The second stages noodle limbs look like they'd be able to use double hit like ambipom and tangrowth with slam being in the same vein of flavor, then there's flame charge which hints at hemogoblin's fire type (also it goes well with flame charge's gen 5 animation being all loopy) and flamethrower makes sense from the perspective of the flames coming out the noodle tubes (plus if skuntank can learn flamethrower through level up a pokemon that becomes file type should have no problem learning the move). Zen headbutt might seem odd considering that the second stage doesn't have much of a head to butt with but the move's description makes it seem like it wouldn't be a problem, then lastly feint is filler that I could reasonably see scattervein and hemo using.

Egg Groups: Amorphous, Fairy
Acid Armor (:Swalot:, :Gastrodon:)
Explosion (:Drifblim:)
Extreme Speed (Mirror Herb)
Heal Pulse (:Blissey:, :Gardevoir:, :Hatterene:, :Clefable:, :Wigglytuff:, :Indeedee:)
Moonlight (:Clefable:)

I chose Amorphous and Fairy with Hemogoblin in mind, but I feel like both still work for this stage, Fairy is kinda obvious and if Gardevoir, Eelektross and Frilish can be in the Amorphous egg group so can Scattervein, I also decided to make good use of the mirror herb with Espeed. As for Explosion and Moonlight other pokemon already have them as egg moves and there are candidates to pass them so it works out nicely, then Acid Armor and Heal Pulse are similar but as flavor.

So my first step with this list was to take all the required moves that don't make too much sense on hemogoblin and give them to scattervein because if they don't have a good reason to be on hemogoblin (flavor-wise) then there's no reason scattervein can't have them too, this also helps to make scattervein's movepool closer to hemogoblin's which matches electabuzz and magmar as both have very close movepools to their final evolutions. As for some moves that might need explanations water pulse and chilling water is flavor in the same vein as water gun, trick and acid spray are also just flavor, misty terrain is flavor, if quaquaval can learn it then there's no reason to not give it to hemogoblin and I put grass knot in there because I like how it fits with the loopy-ness of Scattervein's design, plus other fairies like wigglytuff and togekiss so it's not without prior example, even other fire types have gotten it like the tepig line or simmisear so that shouldn't be a problem either.

Evolves when exposed to a Fire Stone

So the fire stone evolution method makes a lot of sense here with how the line only gains the fire type in the final evo, but what you may be wondering is why I structured the movepool the way I did, and to that I point to my main base for this movepool: scovillain, a stone evo and a fellow fire type that evolves from a non-fire type, but even outside of scovillain all the stone evos from the past 3 gens have followed this path of having similar movepools as their pre-evos, (cetitan, belibolt, vickavolt, crabominable and galarian darmanitan). Now onto the moves themselves I originally fire lash to be a evolution move because hemo's tube, limb, thing, the image of hemo lashing enemies with the limb fits perfectly and as it is a integral part of the design having hemo always get the chance to learn it feels right, then for bitter blade, currently the only pokemon that learns it learns it through level up so putting it in hemo's level up pool makes sense while I put it at a later level than in ceruledge's move pool because it's ceruledge's signature so it gets an easier accesses, I put it at the same level as Moonblast similar to how scovillian gets overheat at the same level as solar beam while capsakid only gets solar beam at that level (And I didn't have anything I could easily remove).

Egg Groups: Amorphous, Fairy

Explosion (:Drifblim:)

Heal Pulse (:Blissey:, :Gardevoir:, :Hatterene:, :Clefable:, :Wigglytuff:, :Indeedee:)

Hi y'all. Mods and I have decided to leave this thread open until the second Post Play Lookback ends. Hemogoblin will almost certainly see changes to its movepool in the PPLs, so we're leaving this open to give submitters time to adjust when that happens. Can't give an exact timeline for when submissions will close but probably somewhere in the ballpark of 6 weeks, likely more.

Progress update for movepool submitters:

The following have been removed from our 1.0 Movepool, and thus are banned from full movepools:
  • Boomburst
  • Fiery Dance
  • Lava Plume
  • Volt Switch
  • Spikes
Make sure to replace/remove these in your submission. Tagging spoo to push these changes to the OP.

I've gone through movepools quick to see if anything handed out beyond these might cause issues. The only one I could find was Body Press, as it hits Heatran and Arcanine-Hisui for SE damage. This might disqualify your submission, so make sure to either remove it or request a legality check if you would want to preserve it.

Hemogoblin's second Post Play Lookback concluded with the removal of Knock Off and (re)addition of Spikes to the final movepool, so I'll be closing this thread in 48 hours. Will update the OP and do legality checks later today.
Considering that the special movepool has been removed, will you be revisiting the first legality slate? (for example, Grass Knot and Hyper Voice could have implications)

Thought about this a bit and the first legality slate will remain unchanged; while moves like gk/hyper voice are now "better" insofar as they're no longer outclassed by boomburst, the removal of other special moves like volt switch/fiery dance means that there's no longer a cohesive special moveset for them to fit on, making them still competitively irrelevant as a result

Requesting legality check on Body Press, Charge Beam, and Hex
Body press denied- hits checks like tran/garg super effectively and we run a defense boosting move on our main set
Beam and hex approved

Also, just in case anyone missed it when I mentioned it before, Knock Off is now illegal and Spikes are now mandatory- OP is also up to date with all of this info

Evolves when leveled up with high friendship

This was basically copied directly from Igglybuff/Cleffa's Level-Up Movepools. I added Play Nice because I thought it was a very cutsey move for a pre-evo and I decided to go with Life Dew for the Level 4 Move since it helps start of the trend of healing moves that I decided to dig quite deeply into for Ababo's evolutions.

Safeguard (

Wish (:Gardevoir:)

Fairly simple egg move list. I decided to add Explosion and Safeguard as Egg Moves because I thought they would make sense on Ababo but I really couldn't fit them in them in the Level-Up movepool, Extreme Speed is here because I had no idea where else I was going to put it, and Wish is here because I thought it was nice flavor. Ababo is Undiscovered since pretty much all Baby Pokemon are, with both of its evolutions being in the Amorphous and Fairy egg groups to allow them to breed).

The TMs were mostly done by me starting with Hemogoblin and going backwards, removing moves from each stage where I thought it would be nessecery. For Ababo, I decided to remove any moves from Scattervein that required visible appandeges, removed Body Slam since I thought we would be way too small for the move to make sense on us, removed a lot of the Electric-type moves since I thought it would make more sense for those to be learnt starting with Scattervein, and also removed Will-O-Wisp because it didn't really have the same quirk it did with Scattervein.

Evolves via Fire Stone

All of the moves learnt from Ababo's Level-Up movepool were given as Level 1 Moves, to again copy how Igglybuff/Jigglypuff and Cleffa/Clefairy were handled. The new moves in the Level-Up movepool mostly consists of the required moves that couldn't be made TMs, moves that involve healing, and moves that involve using its noodle arms. Body Slam and Teeter Dance are the two exceptions, with the former being because I really wanted to teach the line Body Slam but forgot it was a TM this gen, and I decided to keep it just because why not. As for Teeter Dance, I just think the move makes perfect sense on a Pokemon like Scattervein, and I'm suprised that not many other movepools have it. Also, Brutal Swing and Draining Kiss are notably out of order in terms of power. I figured that since Draining Kiss was a way more useful move, I decided that Scattervein should learn it later, and given that the old rule that said these moves must be in terms of power has been removed, I don't think there should really be any problems with this. Also, the 4-4-4 pattern is copied straight from Jigglypuff/Clefairy.

Mostly the same as Hemogoblin's TM set, with the notable removals being most of the fire-type moves, Bulk Up, and Hyper Beam/Giga Impact. Hyper Beam/Giga Impact were removed for obvious reasons, Bulk Up was removed because I don't see Scattervein being bulky enough to use the move, and I wanted to keep the Fire-type flavor reserved to Hemogoblin so I decided to remove all fire-type moves except Sunny Day and Will-O-Wisp, the former because it can really fit on everything and the later because it's a silly pun on it being based on the Circle of Willis (There is precedent in Rolycoly for a Pokemon who isn't a Fire-type but evolves into one for learning Will-O-Wisp anyways). Oh and also Scary Face is here as it's a nice nod to one of its dex entries.

All of the moves are set to Level 1, which is standard for most Pokemon who evolve by using an Evolution Stone. All of the required Fire-type moves are listed as move reminder moves, with Fire Lash also being made an evolution move since I thought it would be appropriate to have it learn a Fire-type move upon evolution. As for why I choose Fire Lash as the evolution move over Bitter Blade, I just thought it would be more appropriate for the move that isn't a signature to be learned immediately as opposed to the one that is.
