Background: Back in the days of Gen. IV, there were some CAP Pokemon that were finalized without a full set of Pokedex entries:
  • Arghonaut
  • Kitsunoh
  • Cyclohm
  • Colossoil
  • Krilowatt
  • Voodoom (only has one)
During CAP updates, we ran the process for giving Arghonaut a set of Gen. IV Pokedex entries here. We still have to give the remaining Gen. IV CAP Pokemon Pokedex entries, which will lay the foundation for giving their pre-evolutions Pokedex entries!

In this thread, we will be giving CAP 10, Krilowatt, a set of Gen. IV Pokedex entries. Here is Krilowatt's Final Product thread, for reference.

These Pokedex entries must be written in the format of Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. This means that the word and character limits must match those from those games, and Pokemon names must be in all capital letters. Otherwise, we will be using modern Pokedex Submission rules.

You will have one week (168 hours) to make your final submissions!

Legal Pokedex submissions must meet the following standards:
  • Species Names cannot be over 11 characters.
  • Pokedex Entries must have flawless grammar. Smogon has a Grammar & Prose team that will help identify mistakes.
  • Pokedex Entries cannot be longer than 23 words and cannot be over 109 characters.
  • Pokedex Entries can only contain the following characters:
    • Letters A-Z
    • Numbers 0-9
    • Dash (-)
    • Apostrophe (')
    • Double quote (")
    • Period (.)
    • Comma (,)
    • Colon (:)
    • Semi-colon (;)
    • Space
Work In Progress (WIP) Pokedex Entries can be posted at any time for comments from the community.

No more than three WIP Pokedex Entries can be posted by any individual person through the entire course of the submission thread. This limit applies to ALL posts made by a single person, even if previous posts are edited or deleted. This limit is intended to curb the tendency for some submitters to spam the thread repeatedly with multiple Pokedex Entries. This detracts from other submissions and makes it difficult for commenters to survey the submission thread.

Do not bump your WIP Pokedex Entries by posting them repeatedly, or making minor wording changes. Bumping will result in the disqualification of all Pokedex Entries by the offender. Editing or deleting bump posts will not prevent disqualification.

Only ONE Final Submission can be made per person.

Pokedex entries Final Submissions must posted exactly in the following format and in the following exact order:
  • The first line of the post must have the words "Final Submission" in bold on its own line. No other text may be included before the bold heading.
  • A blank line
  • "<Pokémon Name>, the <Species Name> Pokémon", with the Pokemon name and the Species Name in bold
  • A blank line
  • The Diamond Pokedex Entry submission. Start with the letters "Diamond" in bold, then a colon (:), and then the Pokedex entry.
  • A blank line
  • The Pearl Pokedex Entry submission. Start with the letters "Pearl" in bold, then a colon (:), and then the Pokedex entry.
  • A blank line
  • The Platinum Pokedex Entry submission. Start with the letters "Platinum" in bold, then a colon (:), and then the Pokedex entry.
Below the Final Submission you can post other comments, explanations, etc.

Diamond: It crosses its knifelike arms in front of its chest when it cries. It can compose melodies ad lib.

Pearl: It signals its emotions with its melodies. Scientists are studying these melodic patterns.

Platinum: There is a village that hosts a contest based on the amazingly variable cries of this Pokémon.

Any Final Submission that does not follow the proper format will be disqualified.

Krilowatt, the EleShrimp Pokémon

Diamond: It produces more electricity than its body can handle, so it's always on the move. It never stops to rest.

Pearl: While it looks scrawny, it has enough stamina to outlast pro swimmers. It's easily thrown off-course however.

Platinum: It can survive polluted waters because the electricity circulating through its blood dispels any impurities.

This thing is a flavor nightmare, with its bizarre type, design, stats, and ability combination. I tried my best to justify it, specifically its high HP with Pearl's dex entry and Magic Guard with Platinum's. Its category was inspired by that of Pachirisu's, who was introduced in DP, as well as Galvantula's, who was introduced a generation later.

Diamond: Its small body holds a surprisingly high voltage. Swimmers and divers avoid swarms of KRILOWATT at all costs.

Pearl: Electricity surges through the bodies of female KRILOWATT faster than males, making them easily agitated.

Platinum: It has been hypothesized that KRILOWATT developed an electric current to drive back predators like WAILORD.

Krilowatt, the Volt Shrimp Pokémon

Diamond: Although small, KRILOWATT makes up for its size by attacking in groups, shocking its foes to submission.

Pearl: Due to its flesh's savoriness and energizing abilities, KRILOWATT is a popular snack food in seaside towns.

Platinum: KRILOWATT like to befriend larger marine Pokémon, using them for protection in exchange for scraps of food.

Final Submission

Krilowatt, the EleShrimp Pokémon

Diamond: KRILOWATT are found around sunken ruins, where they guard the mysterious artifacts of past civilizations.

Pearl: A single colony of KRILOWATT outputs enough energy to power an entire coastal city.

Platinum: KRILOWATT often swarm around shipwrecks, searching for any supernatural antiquities.

I tried to fit the abilities into the flavor of these dex entries. I took Trace and Magic Guard and came up with some connection to the supernatural, and from there decided to go in a "sunken ruins/shipwrecks" direction. Sorta "Pirates of the Caribbean" ish but I like it.

Krilowatt the EleShrimp Pokémon

Diamond: KRILOWATT move in pods up to a million. They all can produce enough power to outdo a cyclone.

Pearl: KRILOWATT makes a very bright light in the dark, even the deepest parts of the ocean aren't dark when they are around.

Platnium: KRILOWATT can live up to 200 years old, no one can ever spot a difference between old and young for KRILOWATT.

Diamond: KRILOWATT in different parts of the ocean have adapted to defend against many different types of Pokémon.

Pearl: By creating a magnetic field around itself to repel metallic pollutants, it can survive in even the most toxic waters.

Platinum: It can change its strategy quickly to counter its opponent. It gets confused if fighting more than one foe.

The Diamond and Platinum abilities reference its concept as a utility counter — it can specialize against one foe, but can't cover them all at once. The Pearl one instead tries to justify its Magic Guard ability; it learns Magnetic Flux in its SwSh moveset, so there's some justification for it, but I'm still a little iffy on it.

Diamond: Although it looks fragile, a single KRILOWATT can store enough electricity to stun a WAILORD.

Pearl: KRILOWATT live in swarms at the ocean's surface. They use their antennae to coordinate their movements.

Platinum: KRILOWATT generates electricity by moving against the pull of the tides. It has incredible stamina!

Krilowatt, the Zap Shrimp Pokémon

Diamond: Despite its size and lack of a strong shell, KRILOWATT's dense flesh easily resists the most ferocious attacks.

Pearl: Surprisingly, KRILOWATT are blind. They use high-frequency electromagnetic waves from their specialized antennae to check their surroundings, even from behind.

Platinum: Some KRILOWATT have a mysterious, invisible shield that protects them from any and all damage, except for attacks.

The Diamond entry is a justification for our shrimpy friend's stupid high HP and low defense. Meanwhile, its Platinum entry is an explanation for its Magic Guard ability, which is similarly invisible. I wanted to add that the shield is inherited from a gene from its mother, a nod to breeding mechanics, but felt that it might make the entry too long. The Pearl entry is a reference to the tiger pistol shrimp, a species of shrimp with stripes (similar to Krilowatt) that is also blind.

  • EthanLac: Pearl entry is longer than 109 characters.
  • JJslem: Pearl entry is a comma splice (improper grammar).
Everyone else moves onto poll 1!
