congrats spoo! His team has an interesting take on Venomicon, using Sub to take advantage of Venomicon's excellent typing.

This week, we are looking back at SM CAP with Tomohawk! Tomohawk bottomed out in SS CAP, but in SM CAP, it is quite good, as it is capable of providing both offensive pressure and defensive support. Its sheer variability makes it quite the potent weapon on many teams. Happy posting!

Deadline for this week is February 21, 12:00 AM GMT-7

https://pokepast.es/1f19027b7a424feb

This team uses bulky mons like Tomohawk to be able to take hits while also having enough EVs to hit things with at least chip damage, and Mega Aerodactyl is there to be a strong hard hitter better for late game. Volkraken with Analytic and high special attack deals a ton of damage to a lot of mons, and the mons that are good against it like Garchomp, Landorus-T, and Heatran get beaten by its coverage. Cyclohm is mainly there to beat Tornadus-T and Cawmodore but it is a strong physical tank and threatens any physical attackers with Rocky Helmet and Static. Tomohawk's Intimidate and Rocky Helmet do basically the same thing for it.

Tomohawk:

idk what tomohawk does in sm but like it seems like worse torn-t? idk. i think it lures in flying types tho so like i made it subtox bcus u get 101 hp subs and priority roost / tox which is dope. aurasphere also hits steels so nothing is immune to this. kartana is what i chose to pair it up w/ as it enjoys birds being weakened. i like libra cus it handles psychics and rapid spins. i think latias is p brokey so i put it on here like idt mono psy is the best thing when u play in a ttar/weav meta but its a fun team and i have like 2 other mons to take advantage of them so its rlly w/eves i feel? torn-t is av and slow cus u dont need speed and bao is broken. i also have a fast heatran with rocks and hp ice bcus nothing fogs/spins on this mf.

Tomo can deny rocks with Taunt or get them up itself before the opponent can strike, giving you a free switch with Eject Button. Alternatively, lead with Koko for Screens, switch to Tomo so you can Eject Button to Lucha before Electric Terrain can expire. Koko has Nature's Madness + Taunt to dunk on some fat shit and put them in snowball range of Magearna. Pinsir + Lucha gives you a good flyspam core. Salac NP Hoopa is big funny and just tears through fat shit, especially with screens up making it easier to proc Salac. Magician stealing Leftovers is better than nutting in your crush on prom night. Z-Fight Magearna tosses bulky Steel-types on their neck. I did not test this team but it seems like cash money to me, leave a haha react if you think we should give Tomohawk Earth Power back.

Grays to Brambane, building with Hawk is tough in SM, but I think his team made it work the best as a dedicated lead. Try it out the next time we have an SM tour or even in the CAP STour!

Our next mon we are going to be working with is Pyroak. The newly buffed dino has been tearing it up recently, leveraging its excellent bulk and ridiculous offensive potential to decimate unprepared opponents. What can y’all come up with for BrokeRoak?

Deadline for this week is March 1, 12:00 AM GMT -7

This one is a bit crazy, but works way better than it really should. Roak + Chomp + Cruci is honestly a very good core, with Cruci eating Zap/Torn for Chomp/Roak, Roak destroying passive lando, and Chomp helping the core out vs offensive Tran. Specs fini is a meme option, but fixes my Weavile matchup, AV Zone is here because I really don't know why its here, and Torn is my fogger. Very fun team, even if its really not perfect.

:arghonaut: :equilibra: :pyroak: :zapdos: :dragonite: :jumbao:

Pyroak looks like it could become an excellent wincon on fatter teams and stall. Its typing allows it to switch in hard and set up for free on pokemon like Jumbao and Ferrothorn, and its natural physical bulk means it's hard to take down once it gets going. I literally sat this thing in front of a dragapult and got free spdef boosts from shadow ball this mon is cracked This does not mean Pyroak is not without problems. It's slow and without giga drain it will have problems with opposing Water types. Pyroak carries rocks on this team as a means of role compression.

Arghonaut checks a lot of Pokemon, such as Weavile, Crucibelle, Scizor, Volcorona, Heatran, Cawn... and helps weaken opposing teams with Spikes. Equilibra helps checks fairies and psychics and helps wear down teams with Doom Desire. It also carries Rapid Spin, which allows Zapdos to run Volt Switch, which allows it to pivot better. Zapdos checks pokemon such as Corviknight and keeps Tornadus from cleaving through this team. Jumbao also helps against bulky waters as well as dragons, which helps facilitate Pyroak's sweep. Finally, Dragonite is an additional wincon that checks opposing Pyroak and Heal Bell is very useful for keeping the team healthy.

congrats to quziel for winning the roak teambuilding comp! His team shows off a really fun core of Garchomp + Pyroak, which I think is going to be a big deal going forward!

This week we are taking a trip back to ORAS and looking at Cyclohm! While the metagame does have Kerfluffle running rampant, Cyclohm's defensive typing and coverage lets it check numerous threats like Tornadus-T, Talonflame, Ferrothorn, and Mega Pinsir. What can you make out of our favorite cloudy boi?

Deadline for this week is March 9, 12:00 AM GMT -7

A METAL GEM
:xy/diancie-mega::xy/magnezone::xy/talonflame::xy/manaphy::xy/cyclohm::xy/breloom:
ancient team from when ORAS was current gen and I was a minor. Takes advantage of Manaphy being one of the most BUSTED mons in existence and how good Breloom is versus Hyper Offense. Talonflame is great to beat cheese and provides utility as a minor kerf check. Diancie doesn't run Protect because I wanted to fit rocks.

:cyclohm: :colossoil: :metagross: :keldeo: :ferrothorn: :tornadus-therian:

I was going to bring this in one of my weeks for capcl, but decided not to. The idea of this team is just to set up hazards with ferro and metagross so scarf keldeo can be a problem. AV colo is there to trap latis and torn for keldeo. The speed evs are for adamant bisharp. Stone edge is ran on keldeo so that you don't autolose to volcarona. AV torn is for kerf and also av torn is super good. The spdef evs on cyclohm allow it to switch into mega zard-y's fire blast after rocks and not be 2hkoed. The rest of the evs are put into defense and hp to maximize physical bulk.

Threats:
Mega charizard x - very hard to switch in to and can just win
Weavile - very hard to switch into
Mega Diancie with HP fire
Other mons that I am too lazy to think about

:cyclohm::ferrothorn::rotom-wash::gardevoir-mega::colossoil::tornadus-therian:

This is not my best meta, but here we go. The gameplan is spread as much para as possible so you can win with Sub Mega Gardevoir. Cyclohm is absurdly bulky behind Light Screen. With Discharge and Static, it should have ample opportunity to para throughout a match. Ferro and Rotmo provide an additionally crucial defensive backbone and more para. Black Glasses Colo is my spinner of choice; I don't have a great reason other than Rebound being great for tempo and having a strong Pursuit is nice. AV Torn since we live in Kerfluffle's world.

:metagross-mega::serperior::tornadus-therian::cyclohm::kitsunoh::garchomp:

used this in capcl against cbrevan, it's not explicitly built around clohm but its defensive utility is super great here against opposing mmeta and flying/fire types that scare serp. i like heal bell but something like toxic/ice beam is also perfectly fine in the 4th slot. i think this is a fairly standard team, just suit mmeta/serp are strong offensively, torn/clohm handle a huge swath of breakers, and kit/chomp round out with utility and filling in what defensive holes are left
