Dragonite @ Leftovers
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 HP / 72 Def / 60 SpD / 124 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Roost

When the existence of fairies are mere fairy tales, mono-attacking Dragonite can freely roam the skies of BW OU! By taking advantage of its solid defensive typing, remarkable bulk, and unique ability in Multiscale, it easily sets up against common defensive Pokemon like Gliscor, Rotom-W, and Ferrothorn. With Substitute, it turns these checks into setup fodder by ignoring status attempts such as paralysis from Jirachi's Body Slam, burn from Rotom-W's Will-O-Wisp and Tentacruel's Scald, as well as shrugging off Gliscor and Ferrothorn's Knock Off. Dragon Claw dents and inevitably breaks through helpless Steel-types like Ferrothorn, Jirachi, and non-Taunt Heatran after several boosts. This set fits best on rain and hyper offense teams due to Dragonite's ability to take on opposing rain teams, which these builds struggle with. Both archetypes also carry dedicated spinners like Tentacruel and Starmie, respectively, alleviating Dragonite's Stealth Rock weakness and keeping its Multiscale intact. The EV spread lets it outspeed Alakazam at +1 and keep Substitute up against weak attacks like Ferrothorn's Gyro Ball and Rotom-W's Volt Switch.

Watch this Dragonite set effortlessly sweep during week 6 of SPLXIII!

Fellow Dragon-types like Kyurem-B and Latios help overwhelm them: however, Magnezone can be used to swiftly trap and eliminate them bar Heatran. Altogether, they form the infamous DragMag team. Rapid Spin from Starmie or Excadrill alleviates Dragonite's Stealth Rock weakness and keep its Multiscale intact.
I'd make the team options more so concern HO or rain than DragMag personally. Rest looks good 1/1.

When the existence of faires fairies are mere fairy tales, mono-attacking Dragonite can freely roam the skies of BW OU! By taking advantage of its solid defensive typing, remarkable bulk, and unique ability in Multiscale even further, it easily sets up against the tier's common defensive Pokemon like Gliscor, Rotom-Wash, and Ferrothorn. With Substitute, it turns these checks into setup fodder by ignoring status attempts such as paralysis from Jirachi's Body Slam, burns from Rotom-Wash's Will-O-Wisp and Tentacruel's Scald, as well as shrugging off Gliscor and Ferrothorn's Knock Off. STAB Dragon Claw can even dents and inevitably breaks through helpless Steel-types in like Ferrothorn, Jirachi, and non-Taunt Heatran after several boosts. This set fits best on rain and hyper offense teams due to Dragonite's ability to take on opposing rain teams, (add comma) which they these builds struggle with. Both team archetypes also carry dedicated Rapid Spinners spinners like Tentacruel and Starmie, respectively, alleviating Dragonite's Stealth Rock weakness and keeping its Multiscale intact. The EV spread lets it outspeed Alakazam at +1 and keep Substitute up from against weak attacks like Ferrothorn's Gyro Ball and Rotom-W's Volt Switch.
