Welcome to a brand new BMT!

bmt.jpg

(better art coming soon maybe)

BMT stands for Break My Team, where the idea is that a team is featured each week, and through community input, all kinds of random counters can be found. The only requirement is that the counter 3-0es the team! How doesn't matter, whether its putting on a resist berry or running something crazy all that matters is that it 3-0es.

Lets set some rules:
  1. Please be respectful of others on this thread.
  2. Please provide some basic (but not too extensive) calcs to prove that your counter does indeed "break" the team
  3. Rolls must be at least 87.5% in the counter's favor. This goes for living and killing, and should open up options a bit more in terms of EV distribution.
  4. Moves with at least 70% accuracy will always count as hitting.
  5. Secondary effects like burn from Fire Blast will not count as a win condition, except in the of stall battles, such as poisoning once with sludge wave when it is needed against a bulky target.
  6. 50/50s between two Pokemon means that the featured team does indeed have a way to counter it, and should not count as "countering."
  7. Pokemon undergoing a suspect test will not be eligible to be a counter, and will also not be able to be a part of a featured team until its suspect test has concluded.
  8. Please only one counter per post, but a singular person can submit more than one counter per cycle.
  9. Teams can come from anywhere! I will be taking any user submitted teams, whether its through discord (lostheros) or through PM on PS!. I'll look at the team and review it, making sure there's no gaping holes, and if it's good, then it will be featured.
  10. The layover time will be 2 Weeks, starting today, Saturday January 13th. This means the next team will be featured on Saturday January 27th
  11. Lastly, we will have voting for the community's favorite counter to be featured with the team! You can vote by liking a post with your favorite counter in it. You can also vote for multiple counters. voting in the google form created on Saturdays.
  12. Starting 4/8/24 cycles are moved to end on Sundays to match other 1v1 Projects!
Good luck and thank you for participating!

No item, evs to spare, 3 moves
(edit: remembered that struggle does recoil and this avalugg has even hp)

Ninetales-Alola
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 32 SpA / 192 Spe
Timid Nature
- Disable
- Blizzard
- Protect
-

Landorus: outspeed by one point:
32 SpA Ninetales-Alola Blizzard vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Landorus: 496-588 (155.4 - 184.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
(Hax proof)

Avalugg-H: protect & disable the choice band, two struggles means avalugg is at 50% HP.
252+ Atk Choice Band Avalugg-Hisui Struggle vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Ninetales-Alola in Snow: 75-89 (26.1 - 31%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
32 SpA Ninetales-Alola Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Avalugg-Hisui: 113-133 (28.6 - 33.7%) -- 0.7% chance to 3HKO
(Hax Proof)

Brute Bonnet:
32 SpA Ninetales-Alola Blizzard vs. 212 HP / 0 SpD Brute Bonnet: 210-248 (50.4 - 59.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Protosynthesis Brute Bonnet Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Ninetales-Alola in Snow: 156-184 (54.3 - 64.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Protosynthesis Brute Bonnet Sucker Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Ninetales-Alola in Snow: 68-81 (23.6 - 28.2%) -- 91.2% chance to 4HKO
Seed Bomb / Close Combat (same damage, spdef drop doesn't matter in this 2 turn matchup) does not kill with a crit, but the sucker punch after will clean up the remaining 4% HP. The odds to lose currently defined by not freezing the Brute Bonnet (9/10), and BB landing a crit (1/24).

You can invest something close to 40 HP / 244 Def and get darn close to crit proof without adding an item or extra moveslot. BB needs to crit both seed bomb & sucker punch with the two highest rolls.

252+ Atk Protosynthesis Brute Bonnet Seed Bomb vs. 40 HP / 244 Def Ninetales-Alola in Snow on a critical hit: 177-208 (59.5 - 70%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Protosynthesis Brute Bonnet Sucker Punch vs. 40 HP / 244 Def Ninetales-Alola in Snow on a critical hit: 78-92 (26.2 - 30.9%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
so like 1/24 * 1/24 * 2/16 * 2/16 odds of breaking through where ninetales has 10% to freeze or risk running disable turn 2 to effectively force BB to switch to close combat or risk either seed bomb & sucker getting disabled

mushroom boy never has enough damage. we outspeed, so they don't get to act on turn 2. best they can do is CC t1 sucker t2 and pray for crit somewhere, because sucker t1 just results in losing t2 to outspeed & two suckers obviously isn't enough. never-melt ice is to more easily get the kill here while still having the bulk for lugg. kyurem & i spent an hour calcing this with chople berry and stuff assuming proto is the same as +1 but turns out it's not. cool.

40 Atk Kyurem Breaking Swipe vs. 212 HP / 0 Def Brute Bonnet: 84-100 (20.1 - 24%) -- guaranteed 5HKO | chip and grab the -1

It can't OHKO us back unless Stone Edge crits (the most likely way this 3-0 doesn't 3-0 when we're uninvested) which is why I have the remaining EVs in Defense and HP for best odds in this scenario:
252+ Atk Choice Band Avalugg-Hisui Stone Edge vs. 24 HP / 252 Def Manaphy on a critical hit: 313-370 (90.2 - 106.6%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
Overall there's a 3.5% chance Avalugg wins now, which I'd say is acceptable.

:landorus:
We live anything from it and OHKO back:
252 SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Landorus Earth Power vs. 24 HP / 0 SpD Manaphy: 230-270 (66.2 - 77.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

^ This is where payapa berry comes into play. Like Brute Bonnet, you need the +2 to OHKO with Brave Bird, but unless they crit, you both outspeed and survive both Sheer Force + Life Orb boosted Psychic (via Payapa Berry) or Sludge Bomb -- which is the same BP effectively.

I find this project to be pretty funny. On the one hand, all of these sets could absolutely destroy this team. On the other hand... imagine using this team and getting 3-0d by a fuckin Choice Band Manaphy :skull:

ladies and gentlemen of the break my team thread, i have an announcement to make:

The 32 defense evs are to lower the odds a sucker punch crit will kill you. Pretty straightforward pokemon, you just ice punch Landorus, fake out + cc the Avalugg and Brute Bonnet.

this will be my third and final post for this one. my goal from the start this week was to break the team using an offensive pokemon that could win without any EVs. I now have achieved that with ORTHWORM. this is REAL, over the top, nasty counterteaming at its finest and unlike my more shitposty submissions above i have no jokes, I'm actually proud of pulling this off.

Heavy Slam calc is assuming lowest possible EP/burst roll. Rash nature and 26 SpD IVs ensures we always get sitrus proc and thus always win

252 SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Landorus Psychic vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Orthworm: 142-168 (50.5 - 59.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
