Any worth adding Quiver Dance Setup Sweepers? (because that Gen5 nightmare fuel called Venomoth is back, and has no Volcarona outclassing it)

Venomoth can pretend to fill this role, but it’s extremely frail and has poor coverage (Psychic +Giga Drain are basically it). It’s hard to see any of the pokemon who currently have QD being viable set-up sweepers in OU

coverage doesn't really matter when u have tinted lens tho, +1 life orb bug buzz can clean late game pretty effectively. considering the prevalence of heatran and blissey it's definitely not a top tier sweeper, but it's not bad by any means

Whats the differnece between Wallbreakers and Choice Item Users? :D

A wallbreaker is usually something which can break through walls with Sheer Power, like Choice Specs Latios or Choice Band Infernape. They have the necessary coverage and high Base Power moves to break through walls rather easily. A Choice Item user can also be Choice Scarf users, to add Speed Control to a team, when the team doesn't have any other form of maintaining their own tempo in the battlefield and a speed control is necessary to add here. But Choice Item users (mostly Band and Specs) can add a wallbreaking potential to a Pokemon as well.

The difference here actually is mostly Choice Scarf users, which are more seen as a forme of speed rather than breaking a wall. Wallbreakers can have the aforementioned Band / Specs.

Some wallbreakers doesn't wear a Choice Item however. Life Orb and other Items in this category can help a Pokemon to break walls efficiently. So a wallbreaker can be equipped rather effectively, eitehr with a Band, Specs, or Life Orb.

But mostly the difference is, when a Pokemon holds a Scarf, as a Band or Specs user can easily be a wallbreaker too. a Scarfer however adds necessary speed onto your team.

Hopefully this helped :)

Two things I noticed are that feraligatr isn't in the aqua jet area, which I feel it should if its gonna go sd (also just found out that dnite gets aqua jet). Also, if magmortar is in the special wall breaker, I feel electivire could go in the physical wall breakers section, though I understand if I'm wrong about that.

I don't know if it is very viable but Kecleon can be considered as a TR user. It does not have a great speed so it is a good support. It has good SpD and a somewhat decent SpA + Protean. Quiet/Modest.

Hey smogon fellows, watching the compendium I have come up with some relevant additions that come to my mind !

I have not seen any Screen setters section where does belong multiple pokemons in the tier :

Xatu.

For what it matters, Evasion abilities and
https://www.smogon.com/forums//media/minisprites/manaphy.png
Manaphy have been banned from OU. Sand Veil, Snow Cloak and Tail Glow Sections are irrelevant and
https://www.smogon.com/forums//media/minisprites/manaphy.png
Manaphy should be removed from the Calm Mind user Section
.

https://www.smogon.com/forums//media/minisprites/espeon.png
Espeon has magic bouce and should be added to the section hazard control.

A Sleep moves user section may be relevant with

Rotom-Mow and

Togekiss have proven being good users of Nasty Plot.

https://www.smogon.com/forums//media/minisprites/zapdos.png
Zapdos is a decent Defog user and Defensive pivot.

https://www.smogon.com/forums//media/minisprites/togekiss.png
Togekiss is a decent Defog and Choice Scarf user.

https://www.smogon.com/forums//media/minisprites/salamence.png
Salamence is a decent Choice Scarf user and a decent mixed Wall Breaker, and a decent DD Setup Sweeper.

Add Donphan to Rapid Spin, Knock Off, and Ice Shard.
All of these is still very relevant.
https://www.smogon.com/forums//media/minisprites/donphan.png
Donphan also a very relevant Stealth Rock user.

https://www.smogon.com/forums//media/minisprites/heatran.png
Heatran can be a relevant physical or special wall.

I might say than Manual Rain is usable despite its huge nerf and a Rain section might still have some little relevance.

Here is all I can think about right now for this compendium ! Great stuff overall and thanks !

Hi! Just wanted to notify I took over the resource, and I will be the one updating it from now on (speaking of which: I just did, and there will be another update when we'll update the Viability Rankings too!)
Huge thanks to Kris for the original thread!

Celebi has been available since late May but still hasn't been added to the role compendium, so I think it's long overdue someone made these suggestions.

Utility -> Stealth Rocks, Heal Bell, Healing Wish

Offensive -> Choice Scarf User, Nasty Plot Sweeper

Defensive -> Defensive Pivot

Maybe I missed one or two spots but these definitely feel like the most noteworthy additions.

Oh and Gardevoir doesn't get Trick or Switcheroo, it should be removed from that section.

Compendium update let's go :bellipog:

Heatran isn't listed under taunt :worrywhirl:

Maybe clarify that Gastrodon uses Clear Smog under hazing section? The move functions differently enough from haze to at least be worth noting (not affected by taunt/can't hit steel types/doesn't reset stats of mons behind substitute)

Is focus energy counted as a setup option? It would only apply to kingdra but that's like half its shtick so maybe add a small section for that? Idk

Keep up the good work :sphearical:

Heatran is definitely a miss. Good idea for Clear Smog. For Focus Energy, I wonder. Probably, dual setters are kinda weird to put in a category but it is probably worth mentioning.

Move Donphan as a niche Stealth Rock setter and Jirachi as niche in every category it is in

E: I personally believe Entei should be a niche Choice Band user

some suggestions that have come to mind over the course of the year

:Mamoswine: Mamoswine could be added to the Stealth Rock section, it's not necessarily a common user of the move but it can fit it on occasion and it can reliably threaten most hazard removal options barring :Starmie: Starmie, :scizor: Scizor, and :skarmory: Skarmory

:Miltank: Miltank could be added as a niche user of Heal Bell as we have seen it be used (mostly by Codex) to decent effect throughout the year

Maybe a section for Encore could added in the Other section? Granted :volbeat: Volbeat is the only mon who will commonly run the move and other OU viable mons who get the move will typically not run it as it can be difficult to fit and is only situationally useful. Just something that popped into my head really.

:mamoswine: Mamoswine not being in the Choice Band section feels off, yes Life Orb/NMI sets are generally better but Band is still viable and can prove difficult to switch into safely over the course of a game without something like :Skarmory: Skarmory or :Slowbro: Slowbro

:qwilfish: Qwilfish could be added as a niche Swords Dance user, it's only seen on rain teams but it's a solid option there and Belly Drum :poliwrath: Poliwrath is also listed who is similarly restricted to rain teams while generally being less viable

:snorlax: Snorlax could be added as a user of Curse in the Setup Sweeper section with counterplay being similar to other bulky boosters such as CM :Clefable: Clefable and :suicune: Suicune

:jirachi: Jirachi should probably be outright removed for Cosmic Power, it gets no real use out of the move since it doesn't get something like Stored Power unlike :Clefable: Clefable

:mew: Mew and :celebi: Celebi could be added as Special Walls as they have taken to running special defense investment as their main EV spreads and have become some of the most common answers to special attackers in the tier

:rotom-wash: Rotom-Wash could also be considered for Special Wall, it doesn't run special bulk nearly as often as the former two but it can viably run it in order to answer threats like :starmie: Starmie, :heatran: Heatran, and :togekiss: Togekiss more effectively

Lastly :snorlax: Snorlax could probably be added as a niche Special Wall seeing as it has solid natural special bulk that allows it to act as a decent check to special attackers 1-on-1 although it can be a bit shakier switching right into them

:ludicolo: Ludicolo and :qwilfish: Qwilfish could be added to the Swift Swim section as they have both established themselves as reliable choices on rain teams throughout the year and are seen more often than/more viable than :poliwrath: Poliwrath

In a similar vein :ludicolo: Ludicolo could be added under the Rain Dance section, it really only needs hydro/giga/ice beam and can usually afford to run rain dance as its fourth move, giving rain teams an extra, offensive user of the move

agree with tbolt on moving donphan and jirachi to niche in every section they're in too
