Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Planning
I made this list and just finished with it (if no one can open it lmk)

Please note that:
  • not ALL gen 9 pokémon are on this list
  • I won’t be doing legendaries
  • paradox pokémon are added
  • I only put in the useful abilties for each pokémon
There may be some other pokémon that I did not include because they were literal sh!t. Feel free to observe this and ask any questions if you need (might not be active during several times of the day/night), but I will as fast as I can to respond.

just want to say i imagine this thread will be very handy for when the ou forum opens up threads detailing the new mons for each gen, assuming that is what they plan to do given the past few gens.

you absolutely should include solarbeam for scovillain given its poised to be the ideal sun sweeper this gen

Yea, I'll definitely add solar beam for scovillian. Btw ignore the pdf on my last message and just use Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Planning.

Doesn't Orthworm get shed tail? RoiDadadou google doc says it gets it.
It does indeed get it, learned naturally at lvl 52.

However it doesn't have Regenerator, so it's basically a 1-of use (2 if you have a berry or something).
Unlikely that it really sees use.

Why is no one acknowledging the fact that Quaquaval gets brave bird? I would think most Quaquaval would slot it into their sets to smack stab resists if they are going for a sweep and are running roost.

From the looks of it, Ice Spinner is a better coverage move for Quaquaval because it hits more relevant Pokémon than Brave Bird does: Salamence, Amoonguss, Dragonite, Clodsire, etc., all of which can check or wall its STAB moves.

Oh that makes sense... So it doesn't work like steel roller where you can only use it where terrain is up?

Regardless brave bird should be mentioned for the fact it gives something for Quaquaval to hit other fighting types that give it trouble.

Veluza has a signature move that wasn’t mentioned here that boosts attack, special attack, and speed at the cost of hp. From what I’ve seen it’s a +2 to all stats, but does anyone know how much hp it costs? While I’m sure it won’t be much more than a gimmick, when combined with sharpness it could be pretty powerful and fun to mess around with at least, depending on the hp cost

It cuts the HP in half. Fillet Away is literally if Shell Smash and Belly Drum had a baby.

Dang, that’s a pretty big cut. I was hoping it would be closer to 25%. Might still be usable but probably not too viable at that point, especially with the low starting stats

It gets better, if it's ability is Sharpness it loses 75% of its HP instead(might be useful for activating a berry under the right conditions, though)
But its highly doubtful that Veluza will lose 75% of its HP since it is a very frail mon. Don't get me wrong, Veluza can be a fun mon to use in competitive if opponents underestimate its true potential, but that includes setting up and its 90/73/65 defenses doesn't help whatsoever. For example, if you use Fillet Away on your first turn, you lose 50% of HP and if the opponent uses an attacking move (which it most likely will), it would easily lose the other 50% of its HP causing the mon to faint before having the chance to use its stat boosts in action. This is also why I always play it cautious when using moves like Belly Drum for mons like Darmanitan. But, unless if your lucky enough to survive an attack then you can sweep with Veluza throughout the entire match, but make sure it has a priority move like Aqua Jet against other priority attacking mons.

The "it gets better" was ironic there, it's actually pretty awful, noone would ever want to lose 75% of their HP for free on a move :P

You misread my post. If Veluza has it's Hidden Ability, Sharpness, Fillet Away removes 75% of its health instead of the 50% it does when it has its normal ability of Mold Breaker.

I was also being ironic, but I was also musing that the only positive about losing 75% was that it would activate a Berry(though it would still then immediately die to any offensive hit)

It doesn't say anywhere that with the ability Sharpness, Fillet Away would lose 75% instead of 50%. Even if that were true, it would still not be worth it.

We know it cause that was just found out "by accident" since a trainer has a Veluza with HA and actually loses 75% hp when using the move.

And no, both of us are saying it's awful, but it is a interaction you need to consider if you want to run that ability.

It's also likely to get patched out pretty soon, I'd think, because damage boosts in general don't usually affect self-damage moves and this interaction is almost certainly unintended.

Can you credit where it says that it drops to 75% HP? I've been using the popular Google Sheet from RoiDadadou and it doesn't say that anywhere on there.

I don't think it's some side effect/bug that gf overlooked since there is no real point in making a status move a "blade move" intentionally.

I think it's some hilarious Easter Egg/joke that gf put in, because let's face it: it's pretty funny
