I have found Lukes Force Palm more than adequate so far, especially combined with Return, Dig, and Rock Tomb/slide. The random parahax has been appreciated as well. Mine evolved at 17 before the poison gym personally.

IME tangrowth is much better as an SD sweeper in the sun. Shiftry is so frail it is hard to find something to switch into to force it out to get the SD. The SD/NP is so predictable a lot of people just seem to attack. tangrowth, on the other hand, can get an SD off even if something you are...
