Koko does lack Prankster, which is a big part of what made Thundie such an awesome support. It also lacks a good portion of Thundurus' bulk, so sticking around long enough to put in work will be a problem. I don't see it being viable, tbh.

    [MANDATORY] TEAM BUILDING HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT

You're using Oranguru without Inner Focus or Mental Herb? That makes you vulnerable to Fake Out and Taunt. Are you just banking on people assuming you have those two things?

    [MANDATORY] TEAM BUILDING HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT

blarajan Yeah, you're def right about Moonblast on Ninetails. My thought process was "hit things that resist Ice". But two of those things are Fire and Steel, so...it does seem kinda ill-thought out in retrospect. I'd replace it with Encore to punish mistimed protects here. I'm not OVERLY...

Oh shit. Well, then I'll have to redo that part. Thanks for the spot-check! Edit: Fixed.

    [MANDATORY] TEAM BUILDING HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT

Alrighty then! Let's expose the fraud in me! For this assignment, I took the team that tickled my fancy the hardest: 43rd. Matt Carter: Tapu Koko @ Life Orb Ability: Electric Surge EVs: 16 HP / 148 Def / 240 SpA / 104 Spe Timid Nature IVs: 30 Spe - Thunderbolt - Dazzling Gleam - HP Ice -...

That's true. Looked a little further and: So I'm dumb and disregard my last like...3 posts. Because none of those are egg moves.

PokeBank is used to store pokemon from one game that you have (ORAS, XY) and move them to another. Right now, it isn't compatible with Sun and Moon. Certain moves like Tailwind, Heat Wave, Hyper Voice, Air Slash, Defog, et al. were only available as TMs or Tutors in previous gens. When Pokemon...

This. Find a viable pokemon that appeals to you. Find a pokemon or two that work well with it. That covers it's weaknesses. Or provides a helpful boost. Or preferably both. Then you fill in with support mons, and address specific weaknesses on your team. Mence is a support pokemon. His best...

You don't have to run TR. That was just an example meant to highlight how Mence is being used right now. The point that's being made is don't build around Mence. I'd suggest looking at the Viable Pokemon and Complimentary Pairs threads. Find or make a core that appeals to you, and start building...

He's a faster Celesteela substitute. If you aren't spamming EQ, you can forego the Flying type for Psychic. This makes him less vulnerable to Electric and Rock moves. But he's super vulnerable to Alolan Marowak. Which is why we don't see him much, I think. And no, he wouldn't be great on TR...

I'd imagine there's a Tapu Fini/Milo slot in the team for those guys. Or even Bulu, to also deal with Water types and provide some regen to the bulky teammates. That's how I'd probably do it. But I'm still at a p low ELO, so maybe I'm wrong here.

    Possible tapu koko counterplay?

Sounds about right. Spread flinch hax is just too good, even with 90acc. And a decent BP. So his moveset would be something like 252 Atk/4 SpD/252 Spe -Rock Slide/Stone Edge -Whirlwind/Taunt -Sky Drop/Stone Edge/Rock Slide -Protect It looks like it has a much less shallow movepool than I...

    First time trying competitive

Because Eviolites 50% boost to Def and SpD are bigger than the stat increase you get for evolving a Porygon Z. And base 90 is an awkward speed tier where he's slower than all the big threats inside and outside of TR.

VGC17 NineSlash Hail Sweep Core Team Help?

I wouldn't say there was any controversy, per se. There's just...a lot of work to be done. Which isn't a bad thing. I think you'll learn more building and rebuilding teams than you would going into the ladder blind. However, that's not to say field testing isn't good. Project_Mars's suggestion...

    First time trying competitive

I was just saying that Drampa can use LO if Ninetails uses a berry. It doesn't have to be either/or. Semi-TR is what most successful TR teams are. They have a TR core, usually something like 1 TR setter; 1 TR Atk sweeper; 1 TR SpA Sweeper; 2-3 "Fast Mode" mons. So instead of dedicating the...

    First time trying competitive

Ok, not a bad start, actually. For Alolan Ninetails, I've been a pretty heavy advocate of using this set: Ninetales-Alola @ Life Orb/Aguav Berry Ability: Snow Warning EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Timid Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Aurora Veil - Moonblast/Dazzling Gleam - Freeze-Dry - Blizzard Drampa...

    [VGC 2017] TR Madness

Only two things: First, I'm skeptical of Alolan Palm Tree as a TR setter. Not saying it can't work, but he seems to be one of those mons that'll be at an awkward speed if he survives long enough to set. Speaking of, what does the 52 Def protect you from? My immediate thoughts were all SpA users...
