CAP 34 So Far

--

In this thread, you may post work-in-progress and final stat spreads for the community and the TLT's consideration, and make comments on other peoples' submissions. The Stats Leader, shnowshner, will decide on a slate for voting based on the community's input. In the Stats Limits thread, the Stats Leader decided on the following limits:

Limits:
Stat Limits

PS – 95
SS – 148
PT – 110
ST – 110
Sum of ST + PT – 180
BSR – 590

Penalties (Cumulative)

(Base Speed >= 116) -10 BSR
(Base Speed >= 119) -10 BSR
(Hydro Pump) -3 SS
(Fire Blast) -3 SS
(Hydro Pump + Fire Blast) -5 BSR

It seems people are content with the limits suggested yesterday, so it's time for us to get moving along. Thanks to everyone who provided feedback and insight during this stage, it's always a huge help! Gonna pass the the torch to dex so we can open up submissions.
BSR ABUSE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND WILL NOT BE SLATED!

BSR abuse is doing things like 150 HP and 70 Def/SpD to create a theoretical optimum with the limits that you have. The purpose of the stat rating limits is to restrict what submitters can do, not to give them a license to game the system. If you cannot justify your stats legitimately and have not proven that you aren't just making the best stats within the limits, you will not get slated.

A spreadsheet for calculating the ratings can be found here. To use it for yourself, create an editable copy with File > Make a copy. If you don't have a spreadsheet program, OpenOffice and Google Sheets are free. You must have the stat rating values listed correctly in your submission or it will be ignored for the slate.

When you are satisfied with your stat submission, mark it as finished using the following final submission post format:

Final Submission

Sorry about the delay everyone, unfortunately I have not gotten paid for mining usage stats and have to keep a real job, so I'll be brief. Stats submissions time. I know many of you have gotten a headstart already and are eager to post the whole thought process on forums. If you ever need a reference, you can check the above post to see our Stat Limits and Penalties – I will also be including our Defining Moves list and Threats here.

Required: Poison Stab (Sludge Wave/Sludge Bomb), Dragon Stab (Clanging Scales), Clangorous Soul
Choose At Least One: Water Coverage (Hydro Pump/Surf), Fire Coverage (Fire Blast/Flamethrower)
Optional: Fighting Coverage (Focus Blast/Aura Sphere), Physical Fighting Coverage (Close Combat/Superpower)
Alright, quick summary:

After CAP 34 sets up, there are two main ways to deal with it: Unaware Pokemon and Priority. Abilities, stats, and moves that help deal with those Pokemon are powerful options for CAP 34 to watch for. Based on typing and bulk, Heatran and Equilibra remain difficult for CAP 34 to handle without the proper coverage. Ting-Lu as well is a difficult Pokemon to get through, and one that carries a super effective Earthquake and Whirlwind. Revenge killers that may be faster than a +1 CAP 34, such as Booster Energy Iron Valiant and Great Tusk are also scary foes for CAP 34 in a Clangorous Soul situation.

With that, I think it is high time we move on to Ability!
No more time to waste, get to it!

Moves: Flame Thrower (Maybe Surf), though I’d like to keep fat Heatran and Ting Lu as Checks
Fat Special Bulk, Fat SpA makes use of Clang Soul plus Spray to be a balance breaker that can be scary to deal with for offense but has offendive checks, (somewhat inspired by Volcarona.
+2 Tera Dragon Clanging Scales 2hkos almost anything except for fat Libra. SpD let’s you Tank most non STAB SpA once and allows you to always live an EP from Libra if you don’t take hazard damage.
on the other hand almost every neutral physical attack will nuke this Mon.
speed crucially underspeeds Deoxys S after a boost while still being faster than Miasmaw and Kyurem pre boost.
calcs will be provided later

Moves: Hydro Pump, Surf, Sludge Bomb, Clanging Scales, Clangorous Soul

Retooled defenses bc it made it very hard to find setup opportunities with rocks up using 109/65/63. We specifically decided not to be SR weak though typing, figured we shouldn't now make ourselves SR weak in stats. 109/81 physical bulk allows the opportunity to get a clangorous soul off even with stealth rock chip when faced against a sizable amount of physical attackers, while 47 special defense leaves us vulnerable to various special attacks, even without hazard chip.

note for calcs: at full HP and no investment, CAP sits at 359HP, and after clangorous soul CAP has 240 HP. After Clangorous Soul and Stealth Rock damage, CAP has 196 HP.

Defense sits very specifically to now live Gliscor's Earthquake after stealth rock, but it's just low enough that Iron Boulder always KOs with Zen Headbutt after rocks.

0 Atk Gliscor Earthquake vs. +1 0 HP / 0 Def Naganadel: 164-194 (45.6 - 54%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252 Atk Iron Boulder Zen Headbutt vs. +1 0 HP / 0 Def Naganadel: 198-234 (55.1 - 65.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

0 Atk Unaware Clodsire Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Naganadel: 204-240 (56.8 - 66.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Naganadel Hydro Pump vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Unaware Clodsire: 158-188 (34.1 - 40.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252 Atk Vile Vial Venomicon-Epilogue Brave Bird vs. +1 0 HP / 0 Def Naganadel: 159-187 (44.2 - 52%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

4 Atk Great Tusk Headlong Rush vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Naganadel: 390-462 (108.6 - 128.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Naganadel Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Great Tusk: 366-432 (84.3 - 99.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

can only beat tusk 1v1 if set up already, which I feel important to note.

Special Defense is set just high enough that CAP34 still lives a hurricane from an uninvested venomicon after rocks, but remains vulnerable even to uninvested super effective special attacks.

0 SpA Venomicon Hurricane vs. +1 0 HP / 0 SpD Naganadel: 165-195 (45.9 - 54.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

0 SpA Heatran Earth Power vs. +1 0 HP / 0 SpD Naganadel: 196-232 (54.5 - 64.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

0 SpA Equilibra Earth Power vs. +1 0 HP / 0 SpD Naganadel: 302-356 (84.1 - 99.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

0 SpA Landorus-Therian Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Naganadel: 362-428 (100.8 - 119.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Gholdengo Make It Rain vs. +1 0 HP / 0 SpD Naganadel: 241-285 (67.1 - 79.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
0 SpA Gholdengo Make It Rain vs. +1 0 HP / 0 SpD Naganadel: 201-237 (55.9 - 66%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 SpA Naganadel Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Gholdengo: 237-279 (75.2 - 88.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Ultimately kept fire coverage off to leave gholdengo as a check

various offensive calcs:
+2 252 SpA Naganadel Clanging Scales vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Multiscale Dragonite: 330-388 (102.1 - 120.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 SpA Naganadel Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu: 274-324 (53.3 - 63%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 SpA Naganadel Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Equilibra: 282-334 (69.1 - 81.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 SpA Naganadel Surf vs. 244 HP / 16 SpD Gliscor: 446-526 (126.7 - 149.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 SpA Naganadel Clanging Scales vs. 244 HP / 16 SpD Gliscor: 408-481 (115.9 - 136.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 SpA Naganadel Clanging Scales vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Tera Ground Iron Moth: 304-358 (100.9 - 118.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Tl;dr: Speed is for Walking Wake/Ogerpon/Iron Moth. Defense allows CAP34 to actually find setup opportunities against most opposing teams, while special defense acts as a weakness. Can draw out booster energies or wallbreak mons like ting-lu for its teammates early-mid game. Or if those walls were broken by a teammate already, it can go for the lategame clean.

Our bulk limits are low for a Pokemon that needs to sacrifice 33% to set-up and contend with hazards damage, so this whacky bulk distribution leans into the +1 Def/SpD to create set up opportunities.

Simply put, it allows you to set-up on more mons, even with rocks up, without getting immediately KOed. Examples:
0 Atk Gliscor Earthquake vs. +1 100 HP / 0 Def Naganadel: 120-144 (46.8 - 56.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Heatran Earth Power vs. +1 100 HP / 0 SpD Naganadel: 122-144 (47.6 - 56.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

You will have to do some non-obvious EVing to hit these benchmarks. Something along the lines of 100 HP / 192 SpA / 216 Spe, which still allows you to outspeed Ogerpon and OHKO offensive Heatran with +2 Surf. You ofc can go greedier with higher SpA investment as well.

115 Speed since you want as much Speed you can while outspeeding Ogerpon and giving some EV wiggle room. With 115 Speed, 120 was as high as Special Attack goes and a generally good offensive benchmark to apply pressure against offensive Pokemon before setting up or at +1 if it just wants to swing with Clanging Scales.

Defining Moves: Clangorous Soul, Clanging Scales, Sludge Bomb/Wave, Hydro Pump (-3 SS)

I wanted to submit a stat spread that focused on as much oomph as possible while using the bulk given to utilize as many setup opportunities as possible. 106 Speed outpaces Krilowatt while speed tying with Enamorus and Caribolt. 106 Speed also outpaces Deoxys-Speed at +1 while 123 SpA pushes the limit of SS to give CAP 34 as much initial firepower as possible. Special bulk is to live uninvested Equilibra's Earth Power, as well as live Krilowatt's Ice Beam after using Clangorous Soul. I opted to use Water coverage, namely Hydro Pump, as it complements CAP 34's STABs the best in terms of nailing Equilibra and Heatran; however, due to the stat limits, fails to OHKO Ting-Lu even with Tera Water. With the lack of physical bulk, it does struggle into some physical attackers, but can hold its own nonetheless against the common priority users of the tier such as Hemogoblin and Kingambit.

Attempted a slower but much more powerful build, with the principal goal of being able to OHKO 252 HP Cresceidon with Sludge Wave at +2 with a Modest Nature through Multiscale, the Speed stat also allows us to outspeed Dragapult at +1 with an uninvested nature as long as we run 252 speed EV's.

Offensive:
+2 252+ SpA Dragalge Sludge Wave vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Multiscale Cresceidon: 364-430 (100 - 118.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+2 252+ SpA Dragalge Surf vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu: 286-338 (55.6 - 65.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Defensive:

A lot of the defensive calcs I was looking at were at 55%, so we would be able to hit some hits from faster threats after a layer of spikes and one Clang Boost.

252 SpA Iron Valiant Moonblast vs. +1 0 HP / 0 SpD Dragalge: 85-102 (35.2 - 42.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

No one has subbed a high speed spread yet, so I'll get started with mine. Outpaces most things are +1, naturally outpaces cinderace and moon without boosts. Physical tankiness to let it die to gambit in unfavorable situations.

One of my favorite interactions with this set is Gliscor; it can break through Gliscor only after a +2 setup, but Gliscor can't switch in on a clanging. It can also expend a tera to help the matchup without setup.
0 Atk Gliscor Earthquake vs. +1 4 HP / 0 Def Dragalge: 152-180 (60.3 - 71.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA CAP34 Clanging Scales vs. 244 HP / 16 SpD Gliscor: 207-244 (58.8 - 69.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Poison Heal
252 SpA CAP34 Surf vs. 244 HP / 16 SpD Gliscor: 226-268 (64.2 - 76.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Poison Heal
252 SpA Tera Water CAP34 Surf vs. 244 HP / 16 SpD Gliscor: 338-402 (96 - 114.2%) -- 75% chance to OHKO
+2 252 SpA CAP34 Clanging Scales vs. 244 HP / 16 SpD Gliscor: 414-487 (117.6 - 138.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

It gets checked by Ting Lu, unless the Lu is weakened.
+2 252 SpA CAP34 Clanging Scales vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu: 208-246 (40.4 - 47.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers
recovery
+2 252 SpA Tera Water CAP34 Surf vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu: 338-402 (65.7 - 78.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Ting-Lu Earthquake vs. +1 4 HP / 0 Def Dragalge: 170-204 (67.4 - 80.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

As expected, +1 252+ Spe lets it outpace just about everything in the meta; notable exceptions are booster Boulder and scarf Meow/Pult. It also leaves for interesting interactions when setting up. For instance, a CAP34 of similar bulk with lower speed can't even get the set up on cinderace, and as such you get hit with the 252 Atk Cinderace Pyro Ball vs. 0 HP / 0 Def CAP34: 121-143 (50.2 - 59.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO, leaving you unable to set up after hazards and a pyro ball. However, after setup we have 252 Atk Cinderace Pyro Ball vs. +1 0 HP / 0 Def CAP34 : 81-96 (33.6 - 39.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO, which leaves CAP34 still in sucker punch range. But we have Dazzling! So Cinder is setup fodder, if you can get a free switch in. Leaves you very low though.

It has enough SpA to punch through book +2 252 SpA CAP34 Clanging Scales vs. 248 HP / 116 SpD Venomicon: 322-379 (86.3 - 101.6%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO

On the other hand, Libra is a big problem for it. If special defensive Libra switches in on a clanging, it needs to tera water to secure the kill. It also can't reliably set up on libra.

+2 252 SpA CAP34 Clanging Scales vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Equilibra: 107-126 (26.2 - 30.8%) -- 8% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 SpA CAP34 Surf vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Equilibra: 234-276 (57.3 - 67.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

0 SpA Equilibra Earth Power vs. +1 4 HP / 0 SpD Tera Water CAP34: 73-87 (28.9 - 34.5%) -- 3.5% chance to 3HKO

Gambit also gives it a lot of grief, though its lack of sucker punch means that if its weakened it dies and 34 can expend tera water for an iffy +2 252 SpA Tera Water CAP34 Surf vs. 212 HP / 0 SpD Kingambit: 313-369 (79.4 - 93.6%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO after 1 layer of Spikes. Gambit always dies to a clanging and a surf, though, so it's absolutely not a switch in once CAP34 is set up.

Dengo is very interesting
+2 252 SpA Tera Water CAP34 Surf vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Gholdengo: 294-346 (93.3 - 109.8%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO
+2 252 SpA CAP34 Clanging Scales vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Gholdengo: 179-211 (56.8 - 66.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252 SpA CAP34 Surf vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Gholdengo: 196-231 (62.2 - 73.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 SpA Gholdengo Make It Rain vs. +1 4 HP / 0 SpD CAP34: 117-138 (46.4 - 54.7%) -- 59% chance to 2HKO
252 SpA Gholdengo Make It Rain vs. +1 4 HP / 0 SpD Tera Water CAP34: 58-69 (23 - 27.3%) -- 56.8% chance to 4HKO
252 SpA Gholdengo Shadow Ball vs. +1 4 HP / 0 SpD CAP34: 78-93 (30.9 - 36.9%) -- 66.5% chance to 3HKO

In general Dengo can't switch in on CAP34 unless it's using a poison type move. If Dengo is already in and healthy, it can fire off a make it rain unless CAP34 expends a tera water. In general it has been observed that this sort of build for our typing is a big tera abuser.

Glowking is not a counter, and it can revenge kill CAP34, often even when it teras if it's weakened
+2 252 SpA CAP34 Clanging Scales vs. 252 HP / 240+ SpD Slowking-Galar: 228-268 (57.8 - 68%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 SpA Slowking-Galar Psychic vs. +1 4 HP / 0 SpD Tera Water CAP34: 61-73 (24.2 - 28.9%) -- 99.5% chance to 4HKO
0 SpA Slowking-Galar Psychic vs. +1 4 HP / 0 SpD CAP34: 122-146 (48.4 - 57.9%) -- 96.5% chance to 2HKO

CAP34 can outspeed scarf wake and destroy it even if it tries to tera, +2 252 SpA Tera Water CAP34 Clanging Scales vs. 12 HP / 0 SpD Tera Water Walking Wake: 390-459 (114 - 134.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

It also beats Volcarona, though not as reliably as one might like: +2 252 SpA CAP34 Clanging Scales vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Volcarona: 321-378 (85.8 - 101%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All in all, I think this spread is very fun, and fits my vision for this project. It can break through some bulkers after a setup and sometimes only after tera as well, but still needs its counters to be weakened before it can really run through teams. I also think that some of the very strong spreads posted here do not actually need the extra +1 of throat spray and will inevitably end up running other items, while this spread really really appreciates the extra +1 to punch through stuff.

Update: I added a significant amount of bulk to this spread.

Moves: Sludge Bomb, Clanging Scales, Clangorous Soul, Hydro Pump (-3 SS)

In-Depth Explanation:

(Speed+Sp.Attack)
111 Speed lets us outspeed Wake and Ogerpon, while leaving faster answers like Valiant, Boulder and Meow, both before and after boosting.
118 Sp.Attack is the benchmark for guaranteeing an OHKO on Great Tusks that don't have HP investment. Additionally, there are quite a few Pokemon that can threaten before Soul with 118 Sp.Attack and 111 Speed, such as Walking Wake, Gouging Fire, Raging Bolt, Ogerpon, the aforementioned Great Tusks, Kyurem, and some Hemo that have under 160 HP EVs. This helps make CAP 34 more flexible, which can help in making it more justifiable to use as it wouldn't just be stuck to coming in during the late game to sweep, something it might not even be able to do every game.

(Sp.Attack-Post Soul)
118 Sp.Attack also lets us deal out a good amount of damage after +2 from Soul, letting us pressure mons such as Gliscor, Venomicon, Clefable, Skarmory, Garganacl, and Malaconda, with Tera Water Hydro Pump also letting us OHKO Libra Specially Defensive Heatran, Gholdegno, and Gambit.
However, there are still mons that can take hits from us after setting up. Ting-Lu is the obvious one, even with Tera Water it cannot be broken, and it can just whirlwind us out. Cresceidon can also tank a Sludge Bomb if it has Multiscale up, which can in turn ruin us with Thunder Wave, Galarian Slowking can similarly tank hits and use Thunder Wave. Unawares also provide troublesome, mainly Argh and Clod, both tanking several hits from us and threatening us in return.

(Defenses)
As for defenses I opted for making them well rounded, with my focus on making sure CAP 34 can find opportunities to set up by tanking a hit after using Soul. The two particular Pokemon used as benchmarks were Gliscor's Earthquake and Offensive Heatran's Earth Power, both of which this spread can tank one of after using Soul. Some Additional Pokemon that CAP 34 can set up on and live a hit from include: Krilowatt, Both Venomicon, Ogerpon, Primarina assuming it hasn't gotten a Calm Mind off yet, Skarmory, and Clefable that don't have Thunder Wave or Encore.
Despite this, there are still several things that can prevent us from setting up ensuring CAP 34 must be careful about finding the right opportunity to click Soul. Firstly, entry hazards are an issue as the previously mentioned Gliscor, Offensive Heatran and Krilowatt can all OHKO with Stealth Rocks up, though for Kril it is a roll. Additionally, somethings just blow past us, such as Meow, Moon, Libra, Tera'd Volc and Moth, Dragapult (with both Draco and Darts), Weavile, and Iron Boulder.

Short Explanation:
With 111 Speed we outspeed Wake and Ogerpon while leaving mons to outspeed us, both with and without the +1 from Soul. 118 Sp.Attack is strong for OHKOing plenty of mons before Soul to provide flexibility while breaking several mons at +2. 82/79/75 gives plenty of chances to set up by being able to tank hits from several mons after clicking Soul, the two particular ones used as benchmarks being Gliscor EQ and Offensive Heatran EP.

This spread assumes access to Hydro Pump (and Water coverage in general) but not any Fire coverage. Decided to go with a more physically-defensive spread in order to open up our counterplay to special attackers in general. 118 is chosen as the Speed benchmark to beat out Valiant but lose to Scarf Cinderace and everything faster than that. 87 / 52 is just barely low enough to guarantee that an opposing Equilibra can always KO us after Stealth Rock with Earth Power even with 0 SpA investment, assuming we don't Terastalize. 115 SpA is just barely low enough for max SpA Timid 34 to always miss the KO on 0/0 Gambit after 1 layer of Spikes unless we invest specifically into Tera Water Hydro Pump.

Going to work on some more calcs and justifications later, this is still heavily WIP.

Most powerful fellow known to man
+2 2hkos Ting-Lu after Leftovers and Spikes. 2hkos Arghonaut after 2 layers of Spikes. You're favored to 2hko Arghonaut after rocks and 1 layer of spikes. Naturally, everything else gets bodied.

The Defense investment allows us to live a Ting Lu EQ, Iron Valiant Psyshock, after our soul has clangorized. It is balanced out by its sluggishness, as it only outspeeds Dragapult and slower after a boost. It ends up getting checked by Deoxys-Speed, Scarfers like Gholdengo, and Walking Wake/Roaring Moon/the entirety of Sun.

The most powerful fella hust got more powerfuller

By removing 1 Speed i can add 2 more SpA while still outspeeding Pult after a boost. This is crucial as you no longer need a modest nature to OHKO Cresciedon with Sludge Wave. It now 2HKOs Ting Lu after Stealth Rock with Clanging Scales. You're favored to 2hko Arghonaut after 1 layer of spikes. Naturally, everything else gets bodied. The draw of this spread is to crack open teams like a rotten egg in the midgame and weaken its checks/force them to waste their resources tera to beat you and enable its teammates to clean. This spread blows up balance and fat structures while struggling heavily against opposing offense and Sun structures. Fire coverage is used over Water coverage so unaware Clodsire can be used as a defensive check.

Equilibra forces a Tera as it is not OHKOd by Flamethrower unless you tera and kills you regardless.
The Defense investment allows us to live a Ting Lu EQ after Stealth Rock, Iron Valiant Psyshock, and gives us an 81.2% chance CB Roaring Moon Outrage after our soul has clangorized. The Special Defense is intentionally low so that we are OHKOd by Life Orb Psycho Boost even after we tera a type neutral to it, and after 1 Stealth Rock and 1 layer of Spikes we are ohkod by psycho boost even if we use a tera to resist it. Tera Dark can be used to get around it but that leaves you weak to Scarf Enamorous. Clodsire is the best defensive check to this spread as it does 38% damage at max and can do cloddish things such as ignore the defense boost with Unaware, OHKOing CAP34 after it sets up.

The goal of this spread's defenses was to have enough physical bulk to let 34 leverage its typing against physical attackers such as Hemogoblin and Ogerpon-W, using them as setup opportunities while still limiting what attacks it could take on the physical and (especially) the special side. This, alongside its offensive stats and coverage, is designed with the purpose of making 34 struggle against pokemon on the far ends of the offensive/defensive spectrum, such as Iron Valiant on one end and Equilibra/Arghonaut/Ting-Lu on the other, but allowing it to cleave through what's left once revenge killers and walls are out of the picture.

Defining Moves: Hydro Pump

I decided to focus heavily on speed with my spread, as I believe it is the best way to capitalize on how our ability synergizes with the rest of our kit, creating a spread that can shred through offensive teams if given the opportunity to set up, with the lower bulk and power compared to the other spreads being my main balancing factor here.

Dump Stat

Unlike many other posters, I decided that sacking our physical bulk would be more appropriate than sacking our special bulk, as I wanted to ensure that Ting-Lu can reliably beat us when not factoring Tera Water into play. Originally, I had 73/77 Physical Bulk, as this was the maximum physical bulk I could do that would still ensure that Ting-Lu is always capable of OHKOing us with Earthquake, with or without the Clangerous Soul boost. However, later on, I decided that I wanted to sack a bit more physical bulk in favor of special bulk, and I reached 73/72 Physical Bulk as it the minimum needed to switch into Choice Band Rillaboom's Wood Hammer while Rocks are up, and still be able to activate Clangorous Soul afterwards even if Grassy Terrain expires.

(As a means of reference for these calcs, 73 Base HP equals 287 Actual HP. We take 35 damage when switching into Stealth Rock, and we lose 94 HP when using Clangerous Soul)

252+ Atk Hemogoblin Flare Blitz vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Naganadel: 114-135 (39.7 - 47%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Rillaboom Wood Hammer vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Naganadel in Grassy Terrain: 133-157 (46.3 - 54.7%) -- 10.2% chance to 2HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery
0 Atk Ting-Lu Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Naganadel: 306-362 (106.6 - 126.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Wellspring Mask Ogerpon-Wellspring Ivy Cudgel vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Naganadel: 120-141 (41.6 - 48.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

114 Special Attack was the absolute highest Special Attack I could achieve with my Speed and the addition of Hydro Pump. This is notably lower than every other submitted spread, but I do think that the high speed and access to Hydro Pump is more than enough to make up for this, with Tera Water Hydro Pump allowing it to easily break through several different Steel-types that may otherwise give us trouble.

+2 252 SpA Naganadel Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Equilibra: 282-332 (69.1 - 81.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 SpA Tera Water Naganadel Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Equilibra: 422-498 (103.4 - 122%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 SpA Naganadel Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Gholdengo: 235-277 (74.6 - 87.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252 SpA Tera Water Naganadel Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Gholdengo: 352-415 (111.7 - 131.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 SpA Naganadel Clanging Scales vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Iron Moth: 303-357 (100.6 - 118.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 SpA Naganadel Clanging Scales vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Krilowatt: 417-492 (94.1 - 111%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO
+2 252 SpA Naganadel Clanging Scales vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Multiscale Dragonite: 328-387 (101.5 - 119.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

73/93 Special Bulk was the highest special bulk I could achieve with my spread. Originally, I settled on just 73/88, but after a bit of thinking and reading spoo's most recent post, I figured that where I had it previously was a bit too low, so I figured that increasing it would be the most appropriate option. I don't have any particular calcs that I wanted to achieve when hitting this threshold, so I'm not going to really point out any particular ones that I have in my list.

(As a means of reference for these calcs, 73 Base HP equals 287 Actual HP. We take 35 damage when switching into Stealth Rock, and we lose 94 HP when using Clangerous Soul)

252 SpA Gholdengo Make It Rain vs. +1 0 HP / 8 SpD Naganadel: 141-166 (49.1 - 57.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Krilowatt Ice Beam vs. +1 0 HP / 8 SpD Naganadel: 133-159 (46.3 - 55.4%) -- 62.1% chance to 2HKO
252 SpA Iron Valiant Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 8 SpD Naganadel: 154-183 (53.6 - 63.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

I decided to go with 120 Speed as I couldn't find a very compelling reason to go faster, despite being allowed to, as we don't really have much incentive to due to the lack of there really being any relevant mons between this and 123 Speed apart from Meowscarada, who I would rather not get involved in a speed tie with. I think being the fast is fine, as it gives us a solid niche in being able to absolutely destroy offensive teams after setting up, and is balanced out by the fact that we need may struggle to find good opportunities to set up due to our notably lacking bulk, as well as the spread's lower offensive output in comparison to many of the other submitted ones

PT: 105.71
ST: 57.76
PS: 88.63
SS: 146.30
BSR: 568.75

Defining moves: Clangorous Soul, Sludge Bomb, Clanging Scales, Surf

The idea behind this spread is to give us a well-defined weakness to special attackers, while underspeeding booster Valiant, Moth, Walking Wake, scarf Enamorus, etc. to give more offensive teams some counterplay, while hitting brutally hard after setup.

+2 252 SpA CAP34 Surf vs. 252 HP / 212+ SpD Heatran: 276-326 (71.5 - 84.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 SpA Tera Water CAP34 Surf vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Gholdengo: 312-367 (99 - 116.5%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO
+2 252 SpA Tera Water CAP34 Surf vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Kingambit: 331-391 (97 - 114.6%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO
+2 252 SpA Tera Water CAP34 Surf vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Equilibra: 372-440 (91.1 - 107.8%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
252 SpA CAP34 Sludge Bomb vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Ogerpon-Wellspring: 300-354 (99.6 - 117.6%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO
252 SpA CAP34 Clanging Scales vs. 64 HP / 0 SpD Raging Bolt: 390-462 (95.8 - 113.5%) -- 75% chance to OHKO

104 speed outspeeds up to Venomicon-Epilogue, ties with Crucibelle, and most importantly outspeeds Deoxys-S at +1. It underspeeds most Booster Energy mons, which is deliberate: this mon has some insane tools against offense and I'd like it to have at least these one-time checks that can be baited out earlier in the game by teammates.

KO thresholds in this section are assuming a 2/3 HP CAP34.

The SpDef stat is very low to allow us to be checked by special booster energy mons, while still forcing specs Walking Wake to use Dragon STAB rather than Hydro Steam to take us out if we set up on a forced switch:

244 SpA Choice Specs Walking Wake Hydro Steam vs. +1 4 HP / 0 SpD Tera Water CAP34 in Sun: 207-243 (56.5 - 66.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Iron Valiant Moonblast vs. +1 4 HP / 0 SpD CAP34: 210-247 (58.3 - 68.6%) -- 25% chance to OHKO

The Defense stat is what allows us to set up, as well as allowing us to tank hits vs. mons like Clodsire (keep in mind it's hitting your unboosted defense because of Unaware).

0 Atk Unaware Clodsire Earthquake vs. 4 HP / 0 Def CAP34: 200-236 (55.5 - 65.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 Atk Gliscor Earthquake vs. +1 4 HP / 0 Def CAP34: 162-192 (45 - 53.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Black Glasses Kingambit Kowtow Cleave vs. +1 4 HP / 0 Def CAP34: 147-174 (40.8 - 48.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Hemogoblin Flare Blitz vs. +1 4 HP / 0 Def Dragalge: 68-81 (18.8 - 22.5%) -- 0.2% chance to 3HKO
252 Atk Zamazenta Close Combat vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Dragalge: 108-128 (30 - 35.5%) -- 34% chance to 2HKO

Offensive Checks: Walking Wake, Deoxys Speed, Enamorous, Gholdengo
Defensive Checks: Clodsire
Tera-forcers-whatchamacallits: Roaring Moon, Equilibra
Everything else: Watch Out!

Limits:

Assumed Moves: Hydro Pump

So, this set focusses on using a high Physical bulk stat to find setup opportunities, before being able to break through offense teams and weakened balance teams.

108 SpA is the absolute lowest value I think you can contemplate for this - +2 Tera Hydro Pump gives CAP24 the OHKO on Equilibra, which feels like an essential hit. I've included a handful of other calculations - this set's defensive counterplay is very much to have healthy bulky mons, which I think is a fair trade off.

Offensive:
+2 252 SpA Tera Water Naganadel Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Equilibra: 408-480 (100 - 117.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+2 252 SpA Naganadel Sludge Wave vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Multiscale Cresceidon: 274-324 (75.2 - 89%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252 SpA Naganadel Clanging Scales vs. 248 HP / 116 SpD Venomicon: 304-358 (81.5 - 95.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

A couple of "we need to weaken Balance structures" comparison points.

Defensive:
252+ Atk Hemogoblin Bitter Blade vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Naganadel: 81-96 (20.3 - 24.1%) -- guaranteed 5HKO
Hemogoblin is very much the setup bait for this mon do we actually need to nerf it btw, able to do very little to us, and providing us the perfect setup opportunity.

0 Atk Gliscor Earthquake vs. +1 4 HP / 0 Def Naganadel: 170-204 (42.7 - 51.2%) -- 4.7% chance to 2HKO
252+ Atk Black Glasses Kingambit Kowtow Cleave vs. +1 4 HP / 0 Def Naganadel: 156-184 (39.1 - 46.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Just a couple of examples of "If we can get in safely we're chill thanks to physical bulk" (Kingambit needs all five allies fainted to be a real threat)

Optional Defining Moves: Hydro Pump, Fire Blast

Been a long time since I've done one of these! I decided to submit a fairly balanced spread here that I think ticks a variety of boxes, in terms of both being able to set up relatively consistently, as well as being able to sweep effectively once it has done so. That said, I also wanted to make sure it had weaknesses, which depending on how sets are run are easily exploitable, while still allowing for versatility and not becoming a complete one-trick pony.

The main physical defensive thresholds I wanted to focus on was surviving an Earthquake from Gliscor after a boost without any investment or committing to Tera. Once that was done I decided to run up the opposing special tankiness as close to the limit as possible. By being so balanced between the PT and ST, it also means that with slight investment into HP, it is able to survive some other common Ground attacks from defensive ground types or as possible coverage moves from other slower Pokemon once set-up. Depending on how it is EV'd and the situation of the game it can also come in as a possible emergency stop to Kingambit. In my testing, 156 HP has seemed like a good sweet spot for a slightly bulkier spread to sure up some matchups with Ting-Lu, Equilibra and Deoxys-Speed. 184 could also be used to ensuring surviving against Clodsire if that is really something that people want to do (unlikely).

Uninvested or 4 HP Calcs:
0 Atk Gliscor Earthquake vs. +1 0 HP / 0 Def Dragalge: 146-174 (53.8 - 64.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Black Glasses Supreme Overlord 1 ally fainted Kingambit Kowtow Cleave vs. +1 0 HP / 0 Def Dragalge: 144-171 (53.1 - 63%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Offensively, I figured a Speed tier of 92 was appropriate in facilitating set-up opportunities against a range of defensive Pokemon, and which also solidifies the Gouging Fire matchup. Importantly 92 leaves it able to be revenged by a range of Booster Energy/Scarf users and Deoxys-Speed, as well as a whole range of the common base 95 attackers when unboosted like Kyurem that can stop it setting up. 92 allows for some flexibility with natures too, with Timid making sure it outspeeds all Great Tusks when unboosted, while also reaching important benchmarks with a Modest nature when boosted, where with maximum investment it outspeeds Dragapult and cleanly OHKOs it.

The Special Attack of 126 with a Modest nature gives the set enough power once Tera'd to punch through a range of Pokemon with Hydro Pump in particular, while still allowing for Surf as a more consistent option, even Ting-Lu after Rocks or Spikes. Unboosted 126 SpA still hits solidly well, being able to OHKO a lot of offensive checks that may be expecting a Clangorous. On a possible aforementioned bulky spread with 156 HP EVs, 100 SpA EVs with a Modest nature is still sufficiently powerful when using Hydro Pump, although some of the Surf OHKOs become percentage rolls, and against Ting-Lu it requires Spikes support. While not both Hydro Pump and Fire Blast are strictly necessary on any given set, I decided to include the both of them to make this spread have more possibilities unboosted, with Fire Blast getting close to OHKOing Kingambit, Equilibra, Gholdengo and Skarmory from base, and to give some versatility in building sets with one or the other being accessible.

This submission is heavily inspired by Volcarona, as it provides a decent example of what a setup special sweeper plays like. 102 speed is a nice place to end up, making us faster than quite a few solid Pokemon hovering at about 100 speed (:venomicon-epilogue:, :volcarona:, :miasmaw:, :iron-crown:, :kyurem:, :gouging-fire:).

All calculations will be at +1 Def/SpDef because the calcs are functionally identical to full health with the 1/3 health drop from Clangorous. Keep in mind that 66% is the OHKO threshold for this.

:equilibra:
36 SpA Equilibra Earth Power vs. +1 0 HP / 0 SpD Naganadel: 146-174 (53.8 - 64.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
36 SpA Equilibra Earth Power vs. +1 0 HP / 0 SpD Tera Water Naganadel: 73-87 (26.9 - 32.1%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
(This was the main thing I calculated around. Guaranteed to live a hit without Tera, and can live two with Tera.)

:deoxys-speed:
252 SpA Life Orb Deoxys-Speed Psycho Boost vs. +1 0 HP / 0 SpD Naganadel: 276-328 (101.8 - 121%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Life Orb Deoxys-Speed Psycho Boost vs. +1 0 HP / 0 SpD Tera Water Naganadel: 138-164 (50.9 - 60.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
(Tera is required to live this, but it's a pretty great hit to take for a sweeper. You can also Tera Dark if you care to take no damage at all.)

:iron-valiant:
252 SpA Iron Valiant Moonblast vs. +1 0 HP / 0 SpD Naganadel: 84-100 (30.9 - 36.9%) -- 72.8% chance to 3HKO

:ting-lu:
0 Atk Ting-Lu Earthquake vs. +1 0 HP / 0 Def Naganadel: 206-246 (76 - 90.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
(EQ kills us easily without Tera, but I'm not sure how much this matters, as I explain later.)

:iron-moth:
132 SpA Tera Ground Iron Moth Tera Blast (80 BP) vs. +1 0 HP / 0 SpD Naganadel: 146-174 (53.8 - 64.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
(132 SpA is the threshold for Booster Speed, which would revenge kill us at our speed without these defensive stats.)

I opted for a high SpDef mostly to help against Equilibra and Deoxys-S, which would be two good answers to this spread otherwise. I think that being specially defensive helps this CAP more, because a lot of the fast revenge killers are specially oriented. It also helps against Equilibra, which has no counterplay other than to kill us. Ting Lu, on the other hand, is able to Whirlwind CAP34 after living a hit instead of EQ if it has a physically defensive spread, and Whirlwind is basically a death sentence for the sweep anyways. With Terastalization, you can squeeze your way out of most physical attackers anyways with the passable physical bulk. With rocks up. many of these matchups will call for Terastalization (or weird EVs), but as I will show in the offensive calculations section, this is likely to be a very good Tera hog in many games anyways.

Here's the real meat and potatoes of this build. This thing dishes out really good damage.

:ting-lu:

(I'm not including defensive Tera calculations here because Ting Lu can beat any stat build CAP34 gets by using Tera.)

(Eh, why not.)

As you can see, this thing packs some absurd power after setting up. It is at a good place where it does need to commit to Tera to potentially fully sweep a team, but even without Tera it can leave a massive dent in any team type. The bulk and the speed are in a good place that makes us threatening but not invincible once we set up, and the power makes us formidable to face, making this an overall a balanced yet threatening build.

Don't really have time to craft my own spread so I'll just comment on stuff that I like/dislike about others. I think 111-115 speed is the sweet spot here; outpacing Ogerpons and Iron Moth is important in my mind, but I think ensuring that we have a non-zero amount of offensive counterplay is super necessary, too. Eg not outspeeding stuff like Darkrai/Cinderace means we'll take their hits before boosting and can't just freely set up in their face as a result, or in the case of stronger stuff like Weavile and Booster Attack Moon, we're a bit harder to position for a sweep when we can't force them out for setup turns. I'd slightly prefer 115+ spreads than sub-110 if it came down to it, though. Personally not interested in the sub-100 Speed spreads but I don't think they're necessarily bad either.

There is, without a shadow of a doubt, a 100% chance that either Water coverage or Fire coverage get removed if we hand out both. I've never been so sure of anything in my life. These coverage types have wildly different counterplay, made much worse by the fact that they're both really good Teras for us. CAP has an insane track record for removing superfluous or unhealthy coverage combinations and this is literally "unhealthy coverage combination" to a tee. Consistent defensive counterplay (emphasis on consistent) is reduced to unacceptable levels if we hand out both these coverage types. Fire coverage + Fighting coverage is probably cutting it close too. Maybe I'm wrong and a hater (has happened before) but flatly I see zero reason to give yourself the extra BSR penalties by assuming access to these coverage combos when we're certainly going to realize that it's stupid on day one of moveset submissions, or at worst on release day.

I haven't really decided whether I prefer spdf or def heavy spreads, but I do enjoy the spreads that have somewhat lopsided defenses one way or the other. This gives us clear setup opportunities on one side of the defensive spectrum and clear checks/counters on the other. Both these things are healthy for setup sweepers. Not saying we should go full Kartana but I definitely prefer a bit of an imbalance.

TLDR try to actively include, not just avoid, both offensive and defensive counterplay when you're figuring out benchmarks. Balanced mons have counterplay. CAP also has a very long history with stat nerfs, whether past gen, current gen, whatever–– we love nerfing stats. If you're pushing the individual/overall limits to the Max Max then you probably shouldn't, I doubt it's necessary. We'll be just fine without going whole hog here.

Defining Optional Moves: Surf, Close Combat

Wanted to take a crack at a specially biased mixed attacker spread. 78 Attack is specifically the minimum amount of Attack needed for CAP34 to 2HKO fully specially defensive Equilibra with Close Combat without the need for any Attack investment. 122 Special Attack creates a sweet spot where the damage for Surf and Close Combat on specially defensive Equilibra are as close in value as possible after the Clangorous Soul boost - encouraging the use of Close Combat as a viable option. It also notably allows a boosted CAP34 to guarantee a 2HKO on Ting-Lu with hazards up using Surf. 98 Speed notably allows a fully Speed invested CAP34 to outspeed Dragapult after the Clangorous Soul boost, while also allowing it to outspeed threats such as Kyurem, Gouging Fire, and Landorous-Therian unboosted. In terms of defensive values, I focused primarily on making sure we could tank attacks immediately after the use of Clangorous Soul, making it as easy for us to sweep in the late game as possible. The physical bulk here specifically ensures that Gliscor's Earthquake will never KO us after we use Clangorous Soul as long as there are no hazards on the field, while also minimizing damage from Ogerpon-Wellspring's Ivy Cudgel. On the special side, this bulk helps minimize the damage taken from offensive Heatran's and Landorus-Therian's Earth Power.

Defining Moves: Clangorous Soul, Sludge Wave, Clanging Scales, Flamethrower
Im enamored by Pokemon that have super powerful tools but have many drawbacks and balancing factors that keep them from being overpowered a la kyu-B and i tried to emulate that with this spread.

Offenses:
The draw of this spread is to crack open teams like a rotten egg in the midgame and weaken its checks/force them to waste their resources to beat it and then enable its teammates. This spread blows up balance and fat structures while struggling against opposing offense and Sun teams. Offensiely, it just barely OHKOs Cresciedon at +2 with Sludge Wave through Multiscale and 2HKOs Ting Lu after Stealth Rock with Clanging Scales. You're favored to 2hko Arghonaut after 1 layer of Spikes. Unaware Clefable is OHKOd with Sludge Wave. Naturally, everything else gets 2HKOd or OHKOd. Fire coverage is used over Water coverage so unaware Clodsire can be used as a defensive check. Equilibra forces a Tera as it is not OHKOd by Flamethrower unless you tera and kills you regardless. Even with this monstrous SpA, there are a lot of benchmarks that require +2 and thus incentivize Throat spray:

Unaware Calcs:
+2 252 SpA Dragalge Clanging Scales vs. 252 HP / 108 SpD Unaware Arghonaut: 189-223 (45.6 - 53.8%) -- 94.9% chance to 2HKO after 1 layer of Spikes and Leftovers recovery
+2 252 SpA Dragalge Sludge Wave vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Unaware Clefable: 396-468 (100.5 - 118.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 SpA Dragalge Clanging Scales vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Unaware Skeledirge: 181-214 (44 - 52%) -- 14.8% chance to 2HKO
+2 252 SpA Dragalge Clanging Scales vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Unaware Dondozo: 297-349 (58.9 - 69.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Other Offensive Calcs (why we'd want +2 over +1):
+2 252 SpA Dragalge Clanging Scales vs. 248 HP / 116 SpD Venomicon: 405-477 (108.5 - 127.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 SpA Dragalge Sludge Wave vs. 252 HP / 0+ SpD Malaconda: 524-620 (120.7 - 142.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 SpA Dragalge Clanging Scales vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu: 262-309 (50.9 - 60.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
+2 252 SpA Dragalge Clanging Scales vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Kingambit: 240-282 (70.3 - 82.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252 SpA Dragalge Clanging Scales vs. 252 HP / 96 SpD Assault Vest Slowking-Galar: 237-279 (60.1 - 70.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252 SpA Dragalge Clanging Scales vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Manaphy: 420-495 (123.1 - 145.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 SpA Dragalge Sludge Wave vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Multiscale Cresceidon: 364-430 (100 - 118.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 SpA Dragalge Clanging Scales vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Multiscale Dragonite: 420-495 (130 - 153.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 SpA Dragalge Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Equilibra: 294-348 (72 - 85.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Defenses:
The Defense investment allows us to live a Ting Lu EQ after Stealth Rock and Iron Valiant Psyshock. The Special Defense is intentionally low so that we are OHKOd by Life Orb Psycho Boost even after we tera a type neutral to it, and after 1 Stealth Rock and 1 layer of Spikes we are OHKOd by the move even if we tera against it. Tera Dark can be used to get around it but that leaves you weak to Scarf Enamorous. Clodsire is the best defensive check to this spread as CAP34 does 38% damage at max and clod can do cloddish things such as ignore the defense boost with Unaware, OHKOing CAP34 after it sets up if there is Stealth Rock on the field.

yo, preliminary slate

Brambane
454311712011011555067.11147.9490.7986.63589.55
Brambane's spread looks to maximize our bulk within limits to grant 34 as many setup opportunities as possible, while leaving it with a Speed stat that lets various fast Pokemon scare us out even after a boost. It requires more deliberate EVing to work but looks rewarding to those who put in the effort.

kenn
8075701239810655294.69144.7076.97102.35584.43
kenn's Fire Blast spread leaves us vulnerable to many potential Revenge Killers, but has good power backing it up as well as serviceable Special Defense to aid in setup.

Da Pizza Man
7368771148812054093.25144.1479.2689.14569.79
This is a fast spread made to outpace even Roaring Moon, but the bulk is subpar and forces the user to give adequate support if they want to successfully boost with Clangerous Soul. Access to Hydro Pump helps offset the otherwise lower attacking power.

Dogfish44
12864771084012354089.88139.10110.0067.40569.19
Heavy emphasis on decent Physical Defense with noticeably poor Special Defense. Dogfish likewise is running as much Speed as possible alongside Hydro to give this spread opportunities to setup and then run through whatever it can.

Tunana
65717112612010255589.30144.9570.01109.64585.39
This was a tough call to make since Amamama has a similar spread, but the extra 2 Speed, good bulk, and supplementary calcs helped better justify it's inclusion. It is rather similar to kenn's, however, so I'm still not sure how to feel.

mark subbed a very unique spread that wants to focus on breaking down fat structures, boasting a massive Special Attack stat weighed down by unimpressive Speed and terrible Special Defense. Of the various <100 Speed subs, this one felt like it had the strongest identity and best actualization of built-in balance.

There's a couple other spreads I like but are either too similar to the ones on here, or simply haven't had enough work put into them for me to feel confident about their design. Again, this list isn't finalized, but close to what I'd like to have pushed into poll. Maybe like late tomorrow or Friday I'll see about closing the thread idk we have family visiting soon.

Okay, the real, finalized slate is here. This was a tough list to make with many spreads being very close to making it on (as you can tell), but all of these are choices am I very comfortable with.

Agile Turtle
HPAtkDefSpASpDSpeBSTPSSSPTSTBSR
10972811154711153594.97141.75103.6068.31568.58
Defining Moves: Hydro Pump, Surf, Sludge Bomb, Clanging Scales, Clangorous Soul

Agile Turtle's updated spread quickly caught my attention, it has a nice combination of enough Speed to run past Iron Moth and Ogerpons, topped with decent Special Attack and strong physical bulk to aid in setup.

Brambane
HPAtkDefSpASpDSpeBSTPSSSPTSTBSR
454311712011011555067.11147.9490.7986.63589.55
Defining Moves: Surf, Sludge Bomb, Sludge Wave, Clanging Scales, Clangorous Soul

Brambane's spread looks to optimize our stat limits as much as reasonably possible at the cost of higher BP coverage, with low HP and above average Defenses giving players more control in what CAP 34 can set up against.

Da Pizza Man
HPAtkDefSpASpDSpeBSTPSSSPTSTBSR
7368721149312054093.25144.1475.0493.36569.79
Defining Moves: Hydro Pump, Surf, Sludge Bomb, Clanging Scales, Clangorous Soul

Slightly different, but Da Pizza Man's submission remained the top pick for fast spreads, making the most of our offensive limits by stopping right after Ace + Moon and still possessing reputable attacking power.

MrDollSteak
HPAtkDefSpASpDSpeBSTPSSSPTSTBSR
656595126959253877.68134.4289.1489.73560.20
Defining Moves: Hydro Pump, Fire Blast, Surf, Flamethrower, Sludge Bomb, Clanging Scales, Clangorous Soul

I flipped back-and-forth on this one a good bit, but ultimately a spread designed around both Hydro Pump and Fire Blast felt important, and MrDollSteak's decision to stick with a high power, yet comparatively slow build should be appealing to those interested in a more breaker-oriented CAP 34.

Tunana
HPAtkDefSpASpDSpeBSTPSSSPTSTBSR
65717112612010255589.30144.9570.01109.64585.39
Defining Moves: Hydro Pump, Close Combat, Aura Sphere, Sludge Wave, Clanging Scales, Clangorous Soul

Tunana opted for a similarly strong build which trades Fire Blast for extra speed and bigger focus on Special Defense. This is also the only spread which directly incorporated Fighting-type coverage as a part of our kit, but that point feels moot compared to its slate-high special bulk, which really sets it apart.

mark6870
HPAtkDefSpASpDSpeBSTPSSSPTSTBSR
5669129160608055473.30147.55108.4557.73574.94
Defining Moves: Flamethrower, Sludge Wave, Clanging Scales, Clangorous Soul

mark6870 has by far the wildest spread of the bunch, packing absurd wallbreaking potential so that defensive answers have to play extra careful or take big risks if they want to make it out unscathed. This comes at a heavy cost of not even outpacing Gholdengo and having by far the worst Special Bulk of all submissions.
