Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
i've seen an increasing number of hoopa-unbounds on balance and tried it out myself to (pun intended) mixed results. the mon can legit 6-0 stall at preview with the right set. any advice for building around it? best partners, optimal sets/spreads, best points of entry, etc?
according to last month's stats (1695+), gambit runs jolly at least 15% of the time, which to me is enough to factor in when it's the most used mon in the tier. furthermore, speed-creeping jolly sets lets you outspeed the adamant sets also, so it's more often a benefit to just invest the extra...
hmmmm… what about jaw lock + u-turn to lure and trap moon's standard answers (the ones that don't outspeed it, anyway), then pivot out to something that beats them? they won't stay trapped after you pivot of course, but stopping their momentum dead for just that one turn can put you in a very...
oh come off it this mon doesn't even exist
seriously, though, how did boulder end up falling off so hard? was there any specific factor making it so fraudulent or was it just generally not good? was there a specific meta development that killed it or was it like that the whole time and it...
kyub had stats but no moves, that's the whole reason it was kept around. once it got a real movepool it was kicked out of the tier instantly, twice. and it didn't even start out ou, it was initially uber but got tested down. i think regular kyurem is a better example, and even that is broken...
but the reason box legendaries start out in ubers is because of their big stats and strong moves, isn't it? they're typically not allowed to have any actual interactions within the metagame, no matter how powercrept and unbalanced the meta starts out, and this is universally agreed upon as the...
but doesn't that kinda just ultimately boil down to "if everything is broken, then nothing is"? i don't think that's an acceptable state of things
also, i'm still confused as to how suggesting "we should probably agree on a consistent, universal definition for this term and stick to it" was...
i never said it held any weight, did i? i specifically said "whether or not you want roaring moon banned" in my post about it being broken. i wasn't conflating "broken" with "banworthy", i was just making the observation that the mon is, outside of the context of the meta, absolutely bonkers...
hang on, didn't you rate it as "broken" on your graph?
i think we might all just be playing really fast and loose with the definition of "broken". it'd probably be a good idea at some point to have a discussion on whether or not "broken" means "banworthy", and whether it should mean...
nah, we just need to be patient. the meta is somewhat bearable right now because we're still fresh off the volc ban and new developments are happening for the first time in a while. give it time and the meta will settle into its usual intolerable state, at which point we'll choose the next...
