I don't answer questions concerning last generation's RNG; I'm purely focused on researching the new one. Sorry. But there are plenty of people in the RNG help thread who are capable of helping.

So, they try to get shinies with perfect stats?

Is that even possible, or did I just get a really, REALLY bad ID/SID combination?

If they are just resetting for good combinations, they will settle for 30-31's in key stats, but will not worry too much about the non-essentials (greater than 15 or 20 even, in some cases). However, much people RNG their ID/SID combination. It that case, they go for flawless.

Well, then. I was hoping to finish the elite four before Friday so I could download the enigma stone. I guess my next option is to buy Soul Silver.

Not every ID or SID combination has a shiny spread even close to decent. Apparently, your game is one of those that doesn't :(. You can restart your game and hope for a better set of shiny spreads, or you can RNG a good ID/SID combo (see the first page of the RNG thread for how to do this).
