Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Fair points, but Squirtle should have Water Gun by that point (L13), which would reliably OHKO Geodude and Onix. Bulbasaur should be capable of it too with Vine Whip; it depends on your levels relative to Brock's, and both vastly outperform Charmander against Brock.
My word, you're right about...
:gs/jumpluff:
The Hoppip line was surprisingly incredibly fun - and useful - in my Crystal Hardcore Flying Nuzlocke. Fast sleep and Leech Seed are not to be trifled with, and Headbutt actually does sufficient damage to most enemies; Jumpluff isn't sweeping teams, but they sure make it a lot...
Great question. IMO, Heracross is probably one of the best examples. They had practically zero good (or even average) STAB moves before Kanto, yet reliable access to Brick Break pre-Whitney and Close Combat pre-E4 (most likely pre-Clair) goes a long way in beefing them up; natural Aerial Ace and...
The Slowpoke discussion sounds quite interesting. Guess I need to try one.
Not convinced Slowbro or Slowking belongs in D. C seems fine, but I guess I'll actually have to use them.
Unlike Eeveeto, my Nuzblocke bans Pokemon I already won a previous Hardcore Nuzlocke with (as opposed to OU-tier mons in competitive).
The challenge ends at Red and the rules are as follows:
1) First Come, First Capture: Can only catch/buy/obtain the first Pokemon I find or encounter in each...
Karen's Houndoom is probably the single scariest boss before Kanto proper, at least in GSC. Woman killed my Pokemon multiple times in Nuzlockes. Most of her team is annoying and has all sorts of hax or nasty stuff like Pursuit to toss at you, but that doggy is a straight up menace. Fast, strong...
Now THAT was a bad run.
Kimono Girl nearly killed my Eevee (Aurum) with Espeon-induced confusion :(
Exeggutor (Gastly and Haunter) + Sandslash (Gengar and Haunter) double teamed Morty for an easy win, no Mint Berry needed
Eevee (Aurum) died to Eusine’s Mean Look Haunter :(
Chuck a joke...
Day one of my Yellowlocke! So far so good; no deaths yet.
So, here are some highlights:
Toughest battle yet:
In Goldenrod Gym, the Meowth trainer was terrifyingly strong, walking off two Returns from Jaune, my Beedrill, and nearly killing with Slash. I believe they brought another Pokemon to...
Meh. I actually started the Chesslocke, but failed it multiple times (pre-Falkner) and lost interest the one time I got through. Too many complicated rules to keep track of. Not evolving your Starter is easy, but memorizing what your non-King Pokemon can do based on role is much harder...
